"Located across the street from the new Beijing Pie House, Greedy Cat has closed after little more than a year. The restaurant served skewers, along with pan-roasted fish, shrimp, and crab in various city-themed flavors, including the intriguing 'Chicago Frog.' At one point, Greedy Cat boasted five locations, four of which were scattered across LA County. Now, just the location near UC Riverside remains." - Jim Thurman

Yelp
A small, unassuming restaurant that specializes in Chinese style roast fish. It has a modest storefront with a no-frills interior, providing minimal service. You create your own roast fish platter with choice of sauce, spicy level, and add-ons. It's recommended to choose at least 4-5 add-ons for best tasting. They also have skewers and other dishes. We ordered the house special Qing Jiang fish and added a few extra items, more than enough for two people. The roast fish tastes good and unique. We also ordered the green onion pancake. However, they were deep fried instead of grilled, disappointed. This place is not so busy so you can eat and enjoy a nice conversation with friends and family.

Yelp
This place offers some of the best Chinese grilled fish in LA. If you're a grilled/roast fish lover and skewers lover, you must try it out. For their roasted fish dishes they use super fresh fish and serve generous portions. You can choose your toppings and spice level--I don't eat spicy, so I ordered mine non-spicy, and it was perfect. They also offer a variety of skewers, including grilled seafood, lamb, beef, pork, chicken, and vegetable skewers, as well as a range of main dishes like zhajiang noodle and yang chow fried rice. I ordered their tang chow fried rice, tastes very good! Don't forget to check in on Yelp to receive a 10% discount on purchases over $100. The service is very fast, everything is cooked to order, and the decor is nice. The wall paintings shows the culture of roast fish in China are very cool

Yelp
Must try for a roast fish fan!! Firstly, they use only fresh fish. Next I so love you can choose your own sauce type, spice level and add ons. The add ons include protein such as prawns and a ton of veggies to choose from! There even were three types of tofu! I have never had create your own roast fish like this before and I am a fan for life!! They also offer skewers, cold dishes, fried rice, noodles and a wide range of drinks! Yes of course we did get skewers and were pleasantly surprised by the yummy seasoning and the meat was tender and juicy! Their dishes are served in good size portions and plenty to share. All in all walked away full and happy! Don't forget to check in on Yelp! I did and they offer 10% off orders of $100 or more right now.

Yelp
**Ownership change, check in offer does not work. 9% discount for zelle, chowbus (ordering system) has a 5% cash back? Located in a plaza with many Chinese restarunts, there's a home depot around the corner with a lot more parking. Inside has plenty of seating and mainly mandarin chinese speaking. There's a karaoke machine so it's perfect for your asian parents. Ordering wise, it's a QR code but a bit confusing. There's a ton of dishes including typical Chinese food, skewers, and ofc the $50 baked fish ( which is essentially like fried fish hot pot). You order the fish which is baseline soup base ( various flavors with all adjustable spice) and add extra cost for toppings. The fish itself does not come with toppings, but it doesn't need much too. I would prioritize the fish. We got the signature jinqiang flavor which had a slightly sweet coating and jalapeño + peanuts. The cost can add up so be careful of the toppings you put in as they can vary in amount. We found the fish maw to be quite adequate. They gave us paper plates I'm guessing because the dishwasher didn't wash the plates?? I'm not sure tbh, as after us the patrons received regular dishware. Rice is a decent portion so if you aren't a rice monster then I feel like 2 bowls for 3 people is plenty. The lamb skewers were quite fatty but had that distinct skewer flavor, pretty good. The brown rice cake is a must try with a deeper caramelized flavor, still sweet, and freshly fried. They didn't really service much except water in the beginning, but the servers are nice.

Annie H.

Yelp
Please note that this restaurant does not honor the Yelp check in offer ($10 discount for a purchase of $100) anymore. If you choose to order the roast fish platter, even the mild spicy option is quite spicy, so if you can't handle spice, this place may not be for you. You also need to pay extra for rice. They offer a variety of ingredients to build your own roast fish platter, and you just pay extra for each ingredient that you add. The skewers were good. Overall, the food wasn't bad, but the service could be better. They give you paper plates to eat off of, and it can get messy since the plates are flimsy.

Yang C.

Yelp
If you are going to order the fish, don't order the mala ban, because it's the same ingredients.

Yilin Z.

Yelp
I think this store has a great environment and the service is great! This store also has a wide variety of kebabs!

Yelp
Liu Roast Fish (although signage said Jade House) in City of Industry. We ordered the Qing Jiang House Special Fish, adding 2 side items in it. Other cultures have very similar roasted fish, but with brown gravy sauce, for example, like the Brazilians and Portuguese. Well, this is the Northeastern China version. I liked that the fish came out hot in a heated pan. The sauce/taste is unique, kind of like sweet & sour mixed with spicy. We asked for mild spicy, but it still had some kick to it. If it's too mild or no spicy, then I think the taste would be altered too much from its original intended taste and it wouldn't taste right. Other reviewers said fresh fish is used, and I'm not sure if it's a seasonal thing. However, we went in late November, and my significant other clearly asked for fresh fish in their native language. The waitress said the fish served was previously frozen but just as good as fresh. I thought about it, of course, no way can a restaurant provide fresh fish for the $49 price point. The order was large, enough for us 2. We took out the leftovers and had another meal at home, a 2 for 1 meal deal. Lol. The service was good, waitress came around to refill water/tea without us having to ask.

Ernest Y.

Yelp
I had dinner here recently and was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. There were a few complains for me so I'll start with that. We got the pitcher and they provided us plastic cups that weren't chill..........(just honestly come on). The other one would not a big deal would be the skewer box once you finish the skewer, you put the sticks in the box. I guess if i was gonna add this too, the chicken skewer was pretty awful(totally dont recommend it). I also wouldnt recommend the fish ball soup...taste like the instant noodle (without the noodle) Anyway, although i thought there were some red flags, it end up being pretty damn good. Of course most importantly is their Fish. Catfish + Seattle? flavor i honestly dont know cause it was ordered in chinese....but i thought the fish was very good. The few toppings obviously soaked in the sauce flavor. THe pork belly is only ok....the eggplant is pretty good. I thought the beef skewers were really good. I would come back.

Tyler F.

Yelp
******ownership changed******, all qualities went down, service got worse and the food got worse as well, ordered to go, told them all kabobs need to be mild. However, they seemed careless about what the customer need, took the food back home and they are too spicy to eat. Had to make myself something else to eat. Tried to call, no one answered the phone.

Samantha Y.

Yelp
Avoid ordering pig brains from this place, it's not fresh and the seasoning is way off, I believe they've changed ownership, their stuff doesn't taste as good as before

Dre V.

Yelp
Food is always EXCELLENT. Made to order. Seasoned perfectly. Skewers are awesome and I always get their Sichuan Spicy Noodles. They just made a massive menu upgrade. Things are changing for the better. I've been coming here for a few years and it never disappoints. Nice music in the background as well. Quiet dining, very polite place, very family friendly. 6 stars if I could! AND OPEN LATE. Chef's kiss for sure!

Yelp

Yelp
Skewers for lunch!!! A lot of these skewer places are opened only for dinner, so to find this gem for lunch is pretty awesome! The seasoning they put on their proteins are pretty darn delicious and addicting too! Delicious and a fun place to eat. Too bad the parking here isn't the best, but the food was well worth it. People came here to order the fish which looked pretty good too, but I came here mainly craving skewers. I'd skip the lamb chops, and quail. My favorites were regular chicken skewer, and grilled scallops. Grilled oysters were good, they were huge, but I prefer the scallops. I enjoyed the chicken wings too, but I could have done it without the skewers. Almost all the skewers come with multiple sticks, so I feel like I'm getting my moneys worth haha!

Nuan L.

Yelp
我们来了这家很多次了.这次我们点了黑胡椒烤鱼,外焦里嫩.味道不错.非常好吃.服务也很nice.吃饭人还挺多的.下次再来点.

Yelp
I really love this restaurant because it close pretty late and not far from my job, which is pretty convenient for me to stop by after working at night. I always ordered the same thing which is the huge fried fish with delicious sauce on it, plus you can add vegatables/protein of your choice ~ You can also decide the level of spiciness on the sauce! If you are new here and not sure which spicy level to pick, I recommend to choose mild or medium to enjoy the sauce with rice ! The service here is pretty good and friendly ! This restaurant also have BBQ which I had before and it was yummy, but the huge fish alone is good enough meal to have for party of two ~

Benjamin K.

Yelp
I tried this place three times and so far so good! I ordered the lamb skewers bbq and mala spicy noodle soup. Very authentic and has good flavor. I consider this place a hidden gem in tustin.

Flower H.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic. You will not regret RK eat here. I have been here so many time and the never let me down

Peggy F.

Yelp
3 Star. Overall. $50 lunch for VERY VERY small portions of food on the skewers menu is a bit overkill and quite a ripoff experience. Although the flavor is great, I wouldn't be returning. E.V.E.R. This restaurant is priced RIDICULOUSLY high for what you get. It appears to market to/target wealthy international students from China who have no concern over or no concept of money. This place will cost you $$ to $$$ out the door, but food value is only within the $ to $$ range. If you happen to be one of those billionaire offsprings and can care less on paying $10 for what's worth $3, then by all means, the food here tastes great, go pay a visit. For me, I rather spend $80 on fine dining elsewhere that's actually worth its value. One of a very select few restaurants I deeply regret trying. :( 4.5 Star. Flavor. Everything we ordered on the skewers menu were fairly delicious and flavorful. * The lamb skewers were delicious. * The beef skewers were good but a tad harder than we prefer. * The calamari aren't the best. A bit too tough and the kids didn't like it. * String beans were okay. * The man-toe bread tastes fine. 0 Star. Price vs. Portion. * Base price at $46-$60 for their flagship fish dishes is quite high, then they charge $3 to $9 to add various toppings. Though I had wanted to try but opted to skip since it will tally up to over $70+tax/tips for just 1 fish dish to split between myself and 2 little kids. So took the skewers option (and it's still a mistake). * The meat portion on each skewers is sooooo stingy and small, my husband can consume all of it in one bite. A total of 4 bites for $6? What topped it off for me was $4 for 12 individual single STRANDS of string beans. The image of other restaurants charging $10 for a heap of the same veggie on a plate popped up, and that just broke my patience. Not worth it. Just Yelp for a nearby Chinese kabob place to dine at instead. Equally delicious at a much more reasonable price. 3 Star. Service. Very typical nonchalant "what do you want" style. They're not there to please the customer, they're just here to "work". I can handle it. Americanized Asians or non Asians might find it offensive. Sorry. This place is off my checklist. Though I had wanted to try their flagship fish dish but I'm sure I can find similar or comparable experience elsewhere. Needs improvement to attract the Americanized audience. Works just fine if all they care about is servicing the billionaire offspring international Chinese audience.

Yelp
This place sells a pretty decent bbq fish if you fancy foods of that sorts. Idk any other places that sells Chinese style bbq fish like this place. The service here is decent but it can get really slow when it gets busy. The lamb skewers here are all delicious as well. They do seem to fry their fish ahead of time to save time during busy times but I'm not complaining. The food here was reasonably priced and I do not regret coming here at all

Helena C.

Yelp
We recently had lunch here and I don't get all the bad reviews reviews for this location. The service was wonderful and my entire family left with food comas. The waitress even asked my grandma if she wanted water with no ice, how considerate! Highly recommended!

Chloe L.

Yelp
So disappointed! It's $13.98+tax. Not even worth it. (20pc small lamb skewers)(2order) Never go back again.

Yu D.

Yelp
One of our favorite roast fish in CA. We ordered one fish and couple of the BBQ skewers. Note that their fish and most BBQ skewers were fried first. That makes sense cuz it gives less preparation times for them. They can have everything fried ahead of time and when people order it, just put stuffs back in even or grilled again. Some people probably won't like it because it's not freshly made. For us, we like the crunchy taste after it's fried. Especially for the fish, it gets a little softer after roasting while keeping the fried crispy texture, and their sauce for the fish overall is pretty good, tastes very typical. The service is good at least for the last three times visit that we had. Last time we didn't eat much because weren't really hungry and the server even asked us if there was anything wrong with the food. This time they give us extra half-fish cuz the one we had was too small even it was big enough for two of us.

Aaron S.

Yelp
They don't open at 11am even tho the open sign was on. They don't pick up phone calls as well.

Jiahui Z.

Yelp
Surprisedly delicious, auténtica Chinese food, highly recommended! Great food and service!

Daisy L.

Yelp
It's my third time here. The roasted fish definitely deserves to come again and again. The price is surprisingly reasonable!

Ronnie T.

Yelp
completely immaculate and professional food and service, waiting staff was wonderful and extremely friendly and helpful

Jason L.

Yelp
Great taste. That is what matters most. Reasonable prices. Clean environment. Friendly waitresses.

Grace X.

Yelp
All you will get is diarrhea, trust me, total waste of money. My friend also experienced same symptoms like me: stomach ache, diarrhea, nausea. Basically the symptoms of food poisoning. I also had food allergy 2 hours after the dinner, which means that the fish is not fresh and it leads to allergy. I truly do not recommend you risking your health for garbage.

KrazyAC M.

Yelp
Tasty BBQ fish, must try, house special and medium spicy, quiet place, BBQ good for few friends grab some

June Z.

Yelp
this used to be the greedy cat restaurant - they just changed a new name but menu and how they operate stays the same. On to food - the fish is really fresh! the meat literally melts in your mouth. The flavor however was more towards the sweet side. There's alot of option on what type of fish you want, what type of flavors and then there's also the added on veggies. The roast fish itself only comes with onions. Unfortunately for me, my chinese reading skills really sucks. the whole menu was in chinese so I had a hard tome navigating around. finally i gave up and had my bf read me the whole menu. then I got tired of him reading it because he was going through it so fast so i just end up eating whatever he picked tip to the owner if you are reading this: Many a few english menus with descriptions of what type of fish is listed and describe the type of flavors you have. that will be really helpful for those non chinese reading customers - maybe a few pictures would even be better.

钰

Yelp
I ordered take out, huge portion. Just as tasty as dining in. The package is great. Definitely recommend this place.

Ran R.

Yelp
Skewers are surprisingly good. A little salty but good overall. No wait on weekdays which i like a lot

Qiana L.

Yelp
If could give it no star, I will. More than 10$ bought only no more than 20 pieces thumb nails like lamb and beef sticks. Almost astonished when open the to-go box at home. But still don't wish to leave message until turn the roasted eggplant over to take a look to find why it is too unpalatable. But! It showed me the brand sticker on the back of the eggplant! Does it mean this brand sticker is too famous to don't willing to peel it off ?!!! Too disgusting!!! Never go back again.

Christina W.

Yelp
People have been giving this restaurant so many bad reviews, and that was the reason we didn't come here. We have instead been going to the location in San Gabriel. Since this location is closer, however, we decided to give this place a try again. And I have to say it was incredibly surprising! The service was great and the food was beyond more flavorful than San Gabriel's. In addition, the staffs are friendly and restroom is clean.

Annie N.

Yelp
I had dinner here with my family and boyfriend a few days ago. It was a bit of a risk since there was no reviews on Yelp it but the pictures of the fish fascinated me. It was definitely worth trying. The restaurant isn't called Liu Restaurant on the sign its name Jade House I think it's due to change in ownership or recently bought over. The restuarant specializes in schezuan style roast fish. The English menu is minimalist at most but the server and owner even though they speak minimal English are super polite and try to answer your questions the best they can. The roast fish 3lb comes in four different flavors seattle (sweet spicy), San Francisco (spicy), LA pepper, chicken mushroom. I don't exactly understand why the flavors are name after cities but seattle flavor is their most popular. The server stated it was a sweet and sour flavor but after tasting it to me it more on the spicy side and less sweet. The order process goes pick your item besides roast fish they also have crab, spice level, and you pick 4-5 other items which costs additional to enhance the flavor of your dish. Since we ordered the medium the flavor of the szechuan peppercorns were way stronger and there was a stronger numbing effect. I would definitely order mild next time and make to avoid eating the peppercorns it gave me a unpleasant after taste. Besides that the dish was a whole new flavor I never experience before it was savory, spicy, and numbing. Also their lamb skewers are bomb. Service was great. I will definitely come baxk Parking: The parking in the plaza is always packed since the area is surrounded by Asian restaurants so we parked at home depot

John F.

Yelp
This is a restaurant specializing in Chinese Szechuan style grilled fish. You can choose from several types of fish including catfish and tilapia. They claim that the size of each fish is 3 lbs. We chose the yellow flower fish. (黄花鱼)Then you choose a flavor for the sauce, the spice level and some side dishes to be cooked under the fish. We chose several including pork bung (肥肠)tofu, tofu skin and cilantro. The side dishes were expensive ( $1.99 for a few sprigs of cilantro); up to about $6 for others. Rice was ordered separately at $2 for a small bowl. All in all, the taste of the sauce was pretty good. The fish was tender and tasty, not over cooked. The spice level was just right for us. It was not too (mala) numbing. (We ordered medium). I would return again except that I think the prices are too high for what you get. They are overpriced for Chinese food, since the competition in this general area is very high. You can get much more for similar cost. I rate 4 stars for taste and 3 stars for cost.

Lei W.

Yelp
The lamb skewer is pretty good, rest of the stuff is too salty. Haven't tried the fish, a bit too expensive. The service is pretty slow or another group of staff need to take "operating restaurant 101".

Yiran Z.

Yelp
This is a really good restaurant with delicious baked fish. Best one we had so far. Very recommended.

Angela H.

Yelp
This restaurant is so disappointing. Their service is terrible. We got there at 11:20, we asked if they can still take us. They said yes, we finished order in 5 mins. The food came at 11:45. We are a party of 8, after 10 mins of eating, one server came to tell us they close at 12. We started to eat faster. 2mins later, another different server came to tell us they close at 12. We tried to finish our food even faster. Another 2 mins, there's one more server came to tell us that they close at 12. First of all, they took us as a party of 8, saying it's fine. We ordered in 5mins, and the food came at 11:45. We literally just had the food for 10 mins and they sent 3 different server to tell us to finish up the food. Then why even take our party? I rather just go to different restaurant if I know this was gonna happen. The food was meh and their service was terrible. The worst dining experience ever. Don't come to this restaurant.

Susan N.

Yelp
Best spot to get the spicy roast fish in town! They have different spices and flavors for their fish dish. I usually order the San Francisco flavor in medium spicy and add whatever veggies I want to eat. It has the Szechuan spices with the slight numbness you normally get in a usual Szechuan dish. One issue is that everything is in Chinese! I asked for a English order sheet and the spelling of ingredients and are confusing and not know what some of the ingredients were. My advice have someone that speaks Chinese to go with you and to help you order. The dish is pretty light and make sure to order white rice. Also, I tried the plum juice drink and it tasted like drinking barbecue sauce but it's a drink that is supposed to complement the dish. However I would skip this if your not used to the flavor.

Jack H.

Yelp
Disgusting and dishonest - I paid $40+ for lamb skewers- and this is what I got - Zero basic business ethics - OMG

Khloe M.

Yelp
If I could give out one star, I would. This business owner is dishonest, and the environment is dirty. We concerned about the food as well. And the Food is not good, it's taste like fry food, not grilled. Won't go back anymore.

The B.

Yelp
If I could leave a negative rating, I would. Not only all the containers are greasy and stinky, I could accept that, because all the Chinese restaurants are this same way; but also food has poor quality and service is even worse. It take them extremely long to prepare food, for example, it took 30 min to get my one appetizer item and another 1 hour to get my roasted fish. However, I spent 2 hours in the restaurant and did not even get everything I ordered, but they still tried to charge me when check out. Well, for all these matters, I can understand due to they are short on staff, as they told me it's not always like that. What I don't understand is I only get half of the fish. I didn't realize that until I see, other table's orders are all way bigger portion than mine. I first thought it's due to we have different fish, but they told me we have the exactly same order. I cannot take that. With $59.99 dish, I only got half of what I ordered. Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to my friends nor any Yelp members. The place is definitely not clean, more importantly, they cannot ensure quality, quantity of food nor service.

Chelsea S.

Yelp
The worst restaurant ever! I haven't written one star review for a long long time! I am so shocked there is a Chinese restaurant like this kind of level could exist in Rowland Heights! First of all, let's start with their "signature" roasted black cod fish. I was told by the server it is their best seller and come with 3 lbs, but are you kidding me? We only received 1 lb of the black cod and cost $59???? How dare you are!!!!! Besides of that, we ordered at least 6 adds-on (each cost at least $2.99 such as seaweed, lotus, rice cake and so on). OK, if it is delicious, I accept that! BUT! Everything is soooo salty!!!!!! The worst roasted fish in the world! We also ordered their skewers, like lambs, roasted eggplant, quailed eggs, and leeks.... all of them are super dried and hard! We complained to the server, but get a very blind and bad reply "you should eat more faster". Pardon me???? We four person spent $150+ for a meal, but left with hungry tummies and angry moods!

Elina J.

Yelp
This place is more known for the fish, but I've been here 3 times and have yet to try the fish. However, each time I visit, I always order the skewers, the scallion pancake and the grilled buns. And they are good!! But I don't recommend coming during rush hour, the quality seems to suffer a bit when they're super busy.

媛媛

Yelp
After eating, we said that we just went to the toilet after eating. The delivery was very fierce and refused to let us get up. He was not allowed to say that it was understandable that he was off work. He looked like he was going to quarrel. The waiter didn't wear a mask. Bring the leftover napkins from someone else's table

J J.

Yelp
Very disgusting restaurant, the dishes are expensive and not fresh, the environment is dirty, and the service attitude is poor

Qiuting W.

Yelp
DO ONT order any roast fish here!!! The pan is super dirty, the fish is over fried! And compare it to other restaurants, the price here is a scam! ! You pay dubbed price here, and get less and nasty food!!
