They have the best octopus EVER! It could have been a meal by itself. The flaming cheese is fun to watch. My 7 and 10 year old loved it there! Teddie was one of our waiters was great and provided great service.

Rose L.

Google
We came here for a family dinner. There were 26 of us and we had great service. The staff kept out drinks filled, the food came out quickly and everything was delicious. The chicken shish-kabobs were tender and juicy. The sauce of the rice was so flavorful.

Lindsay A.

Google
Yum! This place is always fun! The food is oh so good, and there is so much on the menu. It tastes authentic Greek.

Bianca M.

Google
The food was so delicious and our server was amazing! The food came right out and we didn’t have to wait too long for anything.

Highly recommend this place. Everything on the menu is good. Service is great. The restaurant is clean. People are friendly. What else can you ask for

Google
Great food and good atmosphere. Food came out fast, the flaming cheese is really good, I also got the pork chops which were amazing. Highly recommend the pork chops.

Google
Came here due to the reviews. They were not wrong! Spectacular dinner in a casual, comfortable, clean, and welcoming environment. Fantastic menu variety, there's really something for everyone here. The fried zucchini chips were excellent, the saganaki was a flaming delight, Mediterranean Salmon was fresh and flavorful, and Swordfish Steak was prepared to perfection and one of the best I've ever had. Service was friendly, prompt, and attentive. Restrooms were spotless. Staff all worked together to ensure guest satisfaction. Yeah, I'll be headed back here again soon!

Google
A fun place with a great atmosphere. Light and airy the music and the smells are inviting. Jose, our waiter was fabulous. The food very delicious and plentiful. The bar area is quaint and a nice place to hang out and watch game. Will definitely go back since this was my first time

Yelp
Amazingggg Spot for Greek food!!!!! We usually order the saganaki for appetizers and chicken kebab with veggies/rice for main course. So flavorful and yum! Wonderful service by the waiter!! Ambience reminds me of my visit to Greece :)

Yelp
We were a little worried because the people at the front desk were not very friendly or welcoming when we arrived. We went on Halloween around 6:30pm. It wasn't very busy, it just seemed as if they didn't want to be bothered. We almost walked out. Thankfully, we decided to stay and try it out. Our waiter was a different story. He was friendly and warm. We're pretty picky when it comes to Greek food, we grew up with Greek family members, so we're pretty familiar with the cuisine. Everything we had was great! We would definitely be back for the food. We still have our favorite in the city, but it's nice to have a spot close to home to get taramousalata from when we've got a craving.

Yelp
Number one attraction: the tableside flaming saganaki cheese! Very rarely do you get to see this down tableside anymore, but it is so fun and truly adds to the flavor and texture when it's freshly flamed. You can tell that our server had a blast with this as well haha! Overall we love the food here, my parents and I often went to location in Greek Town while I was a student at UIC, so it's nice to have a more accessible location to us out here in the suburbs. The food is just as good as the Greek Town location! I love the gyros here, one of my favorites of the main Greek restaurants in the city. We also enjoyed the spanikopita, hummus, and chicken souvlaki (skewers). It's a true homey Greek restaurant with the expected decor and style, but I wouldn't have it any other way!

Yelp
I like this place almost as much as the Chicago Greektown location on Halsted and Monroe/Adams. Tremendously polite servers, and GREAT Greek food. The ambience in Lombard isn't quite the same. But if you're out in the western burbs craving Greek cuisine--this is the spot for authentic Greek food.

Linda G.

Yelp
The food was delicious. My husband and I both had the white fish. Our waiter was very attentive also

Yelp
I have never had a bad meal here, no matter what day of the week or what time of the year. In fact, this place always shines. Everything, from the relaxing and warm interior, the top-notch service, and the extensive, authentic menu and generous portions all make for an experience that never disappoints. My favorites are the Roditi wine, saganaki, and greek chicken. They have a nice wine list as well. I always enjoy lunch or dinner here when I can. Opa!

Yelp
We went with my family to this restaurant. Excellent food - our server recommended a lamb entree for me, and it was great.

Yelp
Amazing. Absolutely amazing. I've been wanting to try this place for a while and was in the area on a Saturday night when the time finally came. When we pulled into the parking lot, the place was packed. We parked pretty far away and when we walked inside there were people everywhere, but somehow when we reached the hostess there was only a 5-15 minute wait. There is a lot of space inside and it seemed like the perfect fit for everyone - families with young kids, older couples, larger get together, etc. The menu is huge and was a bit intimidating to decide. We started with the flaming saganaki cheese and hot lima beans appetizers which were both so good! The flaming saganaki was definitely a crowd favorite with the presentation. Those two appetizers (along with the complimentary bread) actually filled us up pretty well so we split an entree. We chose something of the special menu which was chunks of lamb mixed with orzo inside a clay pot. It was so good and the lamb was the most tender thing I've ever had. Lots of delicious food. Great staff. Very decent prices. Highly recommend!

Yelp
My friends and I came here for lunch after fun game show event near by. Very busy place and we got a nice spot for 10 people. Our food was very good, our server was very attentive. Overall we had a good time.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
The gyro meat was dry and the tzatziki sauce was extremely garlicky (& I do love garlic!). Beware if you're going to dine with friends - they will not let you split your tab which is absolutely ridiculous.
google avatar

Joseph R.

Yelp
Had dinner here with my wife and the food was okay. The oil tasted slightly oxidized. But overall great service and ambience

Yelp
I have been to the city location but why have I not been to this one that's closer to home?! So glad I was finally able to check out this location! It was what seemed like a pretty busy Saturday night. They do not take reservations and it is first come first serve basis. We didn't wait long, we were told 30 minute wait for 3 people. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves at their table. Everyone was chill, no one seemed like they were in a rush. My friends and I all shared everything. I ordered a avgolemono soup because I'm notorious for ordering soup everywhere. We got grilled octopus, spinach cheese pie, Mediterranean chicken breast, beef tenderloin shishkabob. It came with rice, potato, and vegetables. Everything was delicious! We were so full, but of course, there's always room for dessert. We decided on tiramisu.... And finished it. Guess the only complaint that we had was that our drink was way too sweet. We had to keep adding water to it. Although, I'm already looking forward to my next visit!!

Laura M.

Yelp
I had the combo platter, which was delicious. The only negative is the pieces of lamb were kind of fatty, dry and tough. However, all of the Greek items made me smile. Our waiter was spot on. It was a ladies lunch on a Friday afternoon. The place was not very crowded.
google avatar

Emi R.

Yelp
Everything here tasted delicious. We ordered the pastichio, which tasted really good my dad said "lasagna" but it had a fall flavor to it that was different which reminded me of pie idk if it was pumpkin, clove or nutmeg in it, so don't order this thinking you're getting a classic lasagna like me the lamb chops are seriously the best lamb I've ever had and I wish more people cooked them perfectly like how they do here. The fat is delicious on it and it's perfectly salted. I also ordered the Avgolemono creamy chicken and lemon soup which was delicious on the rainy day. We also had Roditis rose which paired perfectly. We ended it with tiramisu and another cake Im not sure if the name. Jose was our server, he said he's been working here for 17 years and he was very kind and helpful. Over the atmosphere was clean, not too loud of music, low lighting, nicer dressed. I came in a zip up hoodie and defiantly felt out of place but we are traveling! We love it here and will be back.

Yelp
Restaurant was bright and airy in the dining room but there are other areas around the bar that seemed a bit dark. Bathrooms were clean. Overall it was nice inside, if a bit dated. Reminded me of a Greek version of Olive Garden. Prices were a bit higher than I would've expected, epically considering we were there on a week day at lunch. I ordered an item off the lunch versions of the entrees. Supposed to be 1/2 the regular entree and cup of soup. The soup offers were the lemon cream of chicken and rice or lentil I think it was, not sure. I ordered Chicken Riganati and the lemony chicken soup. It was def lemony! Not quite my thing since I don't like sour/tangy soups. I didn't see any chicken in there. Then I was served a broasted chicken leg. And that's it. In the main entre listing for Chicken Riganati, it says served with rice and potatoes or briami. All I got was a cup of soup and a chicken leg/thigh. I expected SOMETHING else with that, either the rice, potato or some sort of vegetable!! My husband ordered an apple spinach salad with balsamic dressing and added gyro chicken. The menu is confusing as to the added price for proteins. I think the cost ended up being $20, but it was very good. The gyro chicken meat was too dry and over cooked for me, but my husband likes it that way. It just looked like pan fried chicken breast to me. Service was ok. About 4 people ordered the flaming saganaki near us and it was a bit too close to me, since I could feel the heat from the flames. And it's annoying when we're trying to have a discussion with lunch and interrupted with that. If you pick off the lunch menu you can get away with around $20 pp but anything else and it's close to $30 pp.

Yelp
In the area for a class, met up with a good friend, and had a taste for Greek food and was not disappointed in the food, atmosphere and service. The restaurant was quite busy when we arrived but seating was prompt and the food came out quickly. Great experience. Had the Spartan Chicken with skinned potatoes and it was excellent. Will go back next time in the area.

Yelp
Amazing. Great selection, good service, some of the best chicken skewers and seafood I've had.

Yelp
Came right at open at 11:00 and sat down. There were a few others seated but love not having to wait. Inside was cuter than I pictured. I assumed it was a family style all American Greek place. That's what I get for not looking. Menu is not inexpensive so be prepared to pay more. They brought out some nice Italian bread while we waited. Waiters quick to refill water and take order. Food took the amount of time o would hope, just right. Not too much not too little. Once it came out I realized I should have added a side. Although my piece of salmon was large. It was cooked so perfectly. My family got the chicken gyros and they loved them. This would be a nice place to come at night. Pretty fireplace and nice decor.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot that makes you feel at home the second you walk in, has excellent service and delicious high quality Greek food - Greek Islands is it!! They do not take reservations however this place is massive so no need to expect a very long wait time during the week. I was here with a group of 5 on a weekday around 630pm and was given a 20 min wait time. Within 3 mins we were seated lol. We had Panayi as our server and he was friendly, attentive and truly made us feel at home. Our drinks, apps, mains and dessert orders were taken/ timed out very well. No awkward waits in between courses and he checked in the perfect amount. He is extremely friendly and has great energy - made us want to pull another chair up to join us! Such a great person to have in the restaurant industry. I'd request to be in his area for the next time. I've been coming here for 10+ years and my go tos are the calamari and saganaki to start, broiled salmon or lamb chops for my main and the Greek traditional cake for dessert. Flavorful, cooked to perfection and are my favorite authentic Greek items. This is a very traditional Greek establishment with blue and white decor throughout. Lots of space and can easily seat over 175+ people. I've consistently experienced 5 stars when dining in at Greek Islands. It's the place to be for a group outing or date night.

Yelp
Excel ,vegetarian, authentic greek taste, good presentation ,quick service, ambience suitable for family

Zaida M.

Yelp
I love this place. Very familiar Very authentic. This is a staple place for me with my family friends. It does get very busy but the food is always on point. Service depends on the business of the day but they all know the menu very well, which is a huge plus for me. It is a large dining area and I love the vibe.

Elisabeth W.

Yelp
We've eaten there a number of times. The food is always great. The only issue is they don't post their kids menu anywhere. So I'm adding it to my review from our visit yesterday.

Bb F.

Yelp
Greek islands is a classic restaurant, very consistent and always tasty. Food is delicious and fresh. It has been our go to for years. Rarely disappoints ! Keep up the great work!

Yelp
OPA! My go to Greek restaurant in the suburbs. We started off the evening with a Greek wine Hadtsimichalis which doesn't make me sneeze uncontrollably. It's imported so must have less things in it to annoy my allergies. Then onto an appetizer, we got the hummus which was excellent, served with wedges of pita. We ordered safanaki, the flaming cheese, and it was fun and yummy. It was a big hit with the kids at the table. The bread is fresh and reminiscent of the bread served in the little greek restaurants in Greece. On to the dinner, my vegetarian family members got the delicious stuffed tomatoes, and they devoured it. I ordered the octopus and it was so delicious and tender, not chewy like other places I've tried. The combination platter was a big hit too with lamb and other greek delicacies to tempt your palette. Unfortunately by the time we finished dinner we were too full for desserts or coffee. The atmosphere is busy, fun and loud, just like at a Greek Sunday meal at yiayia's. Felt like home.

Yelp
Great as always! We arrive much earlier than the rest of our party so we hung out in the bar area. Dino the bartender took great care of us. He seemed to know a lot of the bar customers too. Regulars I guess. We ordered drinks and an appetizer. Both great and inexpensive. An hour later, the rest of our party arrived. More drinks while we waited for a table in Pete's area. We finally got seated and Pete and the rest of the team took such good care of us. We ordered some appetizers including a couple orders of Saganaki. Opa! Dinner orders were taken and we enjoyed each other's company until dinner was served. It all came out of the kitchen at the same time and was nice and hot. I had the lamb chops - one of my favorites here. My wife had a combo of Gyro and Pastichio. Others had the Swordfish, Pastichio, Stuffed Peppers, Leg of Lamb Slices, and some Shrimp dish covered in a red sauce. Other than the Stuffed Peppers, everyone really enjoyed their meals. The family member with the Stuffed Peppers took all the leftover sauce from the other family member that had the sauce covered shrimp and she said it really helped her peppers :) We've been going to the downtown location for many, many years and the Lombard location for maybe 25 years, but did you know know this location has been here for 40 years? Make great food, price it nice and top it off with great staff. A winning combination. Thanks again Greek Islands!

Robert L.

Yelp
This place is the best! Ambience is excellent! Try the Avagalamo soup and the Saganaki. They are out of this world and the Gyro is great.
google avatar

Tikku G.

Yelp
Came to Greek Islands for a family dinner. They seated 9 of us very quickly on a Saturday afternoon so that was a great start to the meal. The calamari and fried zucchini were great appetizers for the table. Wasn't crazy about the spinach pastry appetizer though... For the entree, the Spartan Chicken was 110% the best entree we got. It was flavored so well with lemon, olive oil and oregano. I also got the roast leg of lamb and I was expecting a lamb shank but it came out as sliced lamb in an au jus. It was decent but not worth its cost. Overall, an excellent meal and a great experience with my family. 10/10!

Yelp
Our first time eating here was last night, a Wednesday night. We had been here a few months back, on a Saturday night, but the place was jam packed and we could not get seated. But last night, worked out good, we were seated immediately. The staff was efficient and polite. The bus boys immediately brought us water and menus. The waiter lit up the flaming cheese (saganaki) and he continuously passed by our table, to check if we needed anything else. I ordered the leg of lamb and my friend had pork chops, the food was delicious. Good food and great service. Five stars.

Elaine H.

Yelp
We dined yesterday for lunch and was disappointed with the items we ordered from their new "lunch" menu. I had a salad with Octopus and it was not worth the price. Only one cherry tomato, small amt. of lettuce, and small chopped up octopus & no cucumbers. I asked about the one cherry tomato & the server said that I'd be charged if I want more -- what?? The salad was a disappointment & not your typical Greek salad. $65.00 for the salad & roasted lamb sandwich with fries. Won't be back if their lunch menu isn't better for the price.
google avatar

Angela W.

Yelp
I love greek food and often frequent Greek Island at the Greek Town location this was my first time in Lombard... well they have different chefs! The food was mediocre. Chicken was dry and the veggies were lacking seasoning even the gyros tasted funny. Ill be going back to the other location!
google avatar

Raffaela G.

Yelp
Today was a chicken gyros Day.. which is always delicious Today we added Greek French fries. oregano, feta, house dressing. Delish..... It is not on the menu but I do appreciate them fulfilling my special request. Thank you...
google avatar

Phaedra L.

Yelp
I love it here. The retractable roof makes for a great choice any time of the year. A friend and I usually visit in the late spring and summer. I always get the flaming cheese. She always gets a salad. I love the fish and chicken dishes. Salads, too.
google avatar

Adriana F.

Yelp
Long, long wait at 5:30 pm. Yikes!! Festive environment, good food, delicious cocktails, and great service
google avatar

Ortenca K.

Yelp
Great food!!! Nice desserts. The appetizers are very filling. I love how they show you all the desserts om a tray foe you to chose and make it impossible to pass on.

Sharon P.

Yelp
The skordalia was great as was the grilled octopus. I had a combination plate. My son had the kokinisto. It was fantastic. Would come back again when I'm in town
google avatar

Derrik B.

Yelp
Let's just start with the highlight of the night - the Mediterranean salmon! Whoa! I've been around and even lived in the Pacific Northwest for years, and THIS WAS THE BEST SALMON DISH I HAVE EVER HAD! The fish itself was well seasoned and cooked perfectly, but it really was the sauce combination with the rice and perfectly cooked/seasoned veggies that set it apart. And all that flavor and deliciousness was only $25 or so, I couldn't ask for more. The wine was delicious, the saganaki was cooked well and the Caesar salad was exceptional - NEXT LEVEL CROUTONS AND DRESSING! I won't stop thinking about that salmon dish until I have it again, and this place will be a regular spot going forward.

Steve H.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service. Downed outside and was great, after the sun dipped down a bit. There's a reason they've been successful all these years

Marianne A.

Yelp
The food was all right- not as good as I remembered it to be from years ago. We went for a dinner and it seemed to be more of an everyday feel rather than the superb feeling it had previously.
google avatar

Myrna L.

Yelp
I've given an "excellent" review for this restaurant before but was never there for party. I was a guest there for a birthday celebration recently and there were about 30 people. I just want to commend the staff on how attentive they were to our needs. Stopping in to see what we needed more of, filling our beverages etc. I myself have been here many times but never for a group gathering. Cheers to the staff who attended to our party needs. OPA! Thank you.
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
Attended a bridal shower here last Saturday. Excellent service and in general the food was good. Not great but good except the leg if lamb. I've had it there before and was not impressed but last week it was absolutely to die for. I don't remember the last time I've ever had lamb that excellent. I will definitely order it again the next time we go there just for dinner it was THAT delicious. I woukd recommend for booking a party there. They did an awesome job.
google avatar

Jim U.

Yelp
We do takeout here a lot. Always ready on time and the order is correct. The place is packed on Friday night every week for a reason. Good food at a reasonable price.

Yelp
My sister and I have been craving Mousaka since we returned from our vacation in Greece. Decided to go to Greek Islands. This restaurant has been around for years, but we never checked it out until now. We went around 4:30pm during the week and we were seated immediately. Our server was so nice and patient with us because they have an extensive menu and it was hard for us to decide on what we wanted. Ultimately we decided on the "create a combo" entree where you can pick 2 or more half servings of entrees. We decided on zucchini chips as an appetizer, mousaka, chicken, the homemade sausage and dolmades. All of the food was hot and freshly prepared. Everything was delicious. Our favorites were the zucchini chips and mousaka. We also had the Greek Islands Special for dessert. Very tasty and not too sweet. Loved our dining experience at Greek Islands. Very cozy, family like atmosphere that made you feel you were visiting one of the Greek Islands.

Yelp
Don't wait! Go as soon as you can. Having been in Greece, this place is next to being there. I had the sea bass, which did not come filleted, but our server saw my face when he carried the serving tray out and filleted the fish for me on the spot. The restaurant is like being in the movie "My Big Fat Greek wedding". Charming, family friendly place. Highly recommend!

Christine M.

Yelp
Food, so so. Service was horrible, server was horrible. 40 minutes to get lemons that we had to ask for 5 times. Had to order the appetizer we wanted 3 times. Brought me the wrong wine and then argued with me about it. Didn't know menu. Used to be one of favorite restaurants, has really changed. Will not be going back.
google avatar

AnnMarie M.

Yelp
Food is always fantastic! Love everything, but especially the chicken riganata and the garlic dip with zucchini.
google avatar

Bob C.

Yelp
As you've read my many posts I'm usually upbeat but honest. This was a huge disappointment. I went here with my family and I thought where else to get good lamb but at a Greek restaurant. That was a mistake. The lamb was dry and was tasteless. The only positive I'll make Note of was our server. She was prompt and took very good Care of us. Food blah Service good Atmosphere so-so We asked an employee to put on an NFL playoff game and instead of trying to Accommodate our request he just walked away. There are plenty of good restaurants to go to, Greek Islands isn't one of them
google avatar

Marjorie F.

Yelp
I have always loved the downtown location of Greek Islands, but over the last year have become a huge fan of the Lombard location. My extended family is fairly large and close-knit, so when we have an occasion to celebrate it is a challenge to coordinate. Thanks to the folks at Greek Islands Lombard who understand big families! The first celebration I booked here was my mom's 80th birthday/parents' anniversary. The second was my dad's 80th birthday. Both occasions were a rousing success! My cousins came from all over the Chicago area, plus Indiana and Wisconsin. For starters, we ordered the cold spread sampler, pan fried calamari, grilled octopus, dolmades, and saganaki (OPA!!!). Everyone ordered their own entrees and loved them. I ordered my favorite - pastichio. By the time I get to my entree, I am usually full from all the lovely appetizers. The service is top notch. The servers really catered to my parents which made my mom so happy. She likes to tip extra when people go above and beyond (she did for both big celebrations). I will definitely plan more events with Greek Islands Lombard. They really made me look like a hero with my family! Thank you!

Yelp
The food and service were excellent. Our waitress was really personable and made it fun. You really can't go wrong at the Greek Islands!!
