Greek Prime - Review - Bridgeport - Chicago - The Infatuation

"If you want to catch Chicago sports inBridgeport—right next to a hanging car hood commemorating the 2003 MLB All-Star Game—the answer is Greek Prime. Aside from being a neighborhood place that mixes family dinners with boozy hangouts, it’s also a great spot for classic Greek dishes and playful bar food. Get the hearty avgolemono and tender lamb chops with tzatziki if you’re feeling traditional. But if the car hood has you craving sports-bar flavors, the egg rolls with giardiniera and mozzarella are addictive. Somewhere between those categories is the excellent gyro roll in sweet BBQ sauce, with crunchy peppers on top. And if you come during happy hour, you can prepare for the night’s game with one of their half-off jumbo mango mojitos." - Nick Allen

Google
The food was amazing! Our waitress Crystal was absolutely fantastic 👏. We ordered a whole bunch of appetizers and shared them as a group. They were fresh, tasty, and left us saying, we have to come back! 10 out of 10 I will recommend.

Google
Last week when I was in Chicago twice, my friend & I came here & got food! I would have to say that this is one of the best Greek restaurants in Chicago (in my opinion) & I haven't had a Gyro as thick & delicious as the one that I got here! The service is also wonderful & the restaurant is clean, too! I definitely will be coming back soon! ❤️💯

Nicholas took amazing care of me and my friends! He was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. He offered a great variety of options, not just with food, but also with drinks, which made our experience even better. We felt welcomed and well taken care of the entire time. Definitely looking forward to coming back!

Google
By far my favorite Greek food in the city. Can’t ever go wrong with the chicken or filet mignon platter which comes with pita bread, salad and garlic potatoes. Overall a great value for your money and very filling. Service is always great.

Melanie G.

Google
What a great place to watch Sunday Night Football! The wings were absolutely amazing, definitely the highlight of the night and the service was just as impressive. Our server, Crystal, was so kind and made the most delicious apple cider margaritas. We’ll definitely be coming back! If you’re looking for great drinks and even better service, ask for Crystal, she makes the best drinks!

Google
Their meat is good but they're Tzatziki sauce is pretty watery. Over all good but they're twice as much price wise as George's Gyro's a few blocks away which meat is just is good and have a better tahini by far. Kinda feel ripped off.

Google
This place was recommended by a friend. The food was delicious, and our waiter was attentive & present. I would say it's kid friendly, but the choice of music during our visit was very explicit. Other than that, we really enjoyed our first visit.

Google
I was so excited to be here! I have been wanting to try this place, and it did NOT disappoint my expectations. The server/ bartender was great, the chef was awesome and the other staff was friendly as well. I enjoyed it all. Didn’t get the salad in a pic, and my company’s skewers but that was even AH MAZE ING! Can’t wait to go back

Yelp
A friend recommended Greek Prime Kitchen & Bar and called it a hidden gem in Bridgeport--they weren't lying! When you walk in, you first pass through the carry-out section, then enter the bar and dining room. At first glance, it feels like a typical bar and grill near the Sox stadium, but the food and service set it apart. Our bartender doubled as our server, and she was fantastic--friendly, knowledgeable, and full of great recommendations. We started with the Greek Chicken Quesadilla served on pita bread, a creamy Greek chicken soup, and a Greek salad. Everything was fresh and flavorful. For mains, we tried a few skewer platters: filet mignon, chicken, and shrimp. The chicken was slightly overcooked but still packed with flavor. Bonus: we were there during happy hour, so wine was only $6 a glass! Overall, this spot exceeded expectations. I'll definitely be back and adding it to my regular rotation.

Yelp
I love some good Greek food! I pass this restaurant frequently, and after seeing it pop up on my timeline, I decided to check out the reviews. The great feedback intrigued me enough to give it a try. I ordered the chicken platter with a Greek salad and fries. Everything was flavorful and my food was ready in a timely fashion. The only issue was that I requested no tomatoes because I am allergic. They removed them from my salad but not from my platter. Other than that, everything was delicious and I will definitely be back!

Yelp
I finally had a chance to make it back. And they definitely have won me over. There was a group of 10 of us. They were busy and Is a great neighborhood go to. Didn't have a chance to take pictures but everyone enjoyed the food. We started with the saganaki cheese and the saganaki sticks. Both very good. The saganaki must be eaten on the bread, it's salty alone. The sticks were very good and can be eaten without bread. There was a variety of dishes people ordered. There were chicken bowls, filet mignon bowls and filet mignon platters. Will be back again.

Yelp
These people are so very nice, and though dated, the restaurant is quite quaint. Consistency is the word I use to describe this establishment. I reached for something new -- Saganaki Sticks. Delicious! Fried breaded Saganaki with fresh lemon. The Lamb Chops were perfectly prepared. Finally, the Gyro staple is always done well. PS. The desserts are also quite good.

Yelp
I'm a northsider White Sox fan, and I had a meeting for a dj gig near Sox Park, so I decided to stop by and check out Greek Prime. I got a BBQ Gyro and a side of rice, but I got it to go so I wouldn't be stuck in traffic. I don't know how the gyro made it intact all the way home . I just ate the gyro and ohhhh man it was great. It had cheese, yellow and orange peppers and bbq sauce. It reminded me of the creative recipes the gyro spots in Greece have. You can still get a traditional gyro here though. And the rice is so tasty and has the perfect amount of garlic flavor.

Yelp
After being away from home for almost 6 months, the very first place I had to eat when I landed was Greek Prime in Bridgeport -- and as always, they did not disappoint! Carmen, who co-owns the restaurant with her husband Mike, always welcomes us like family. Even though I didn't snap a pic, she sent out dessert for my kids just because -- something she's done more than once. That's the kind of love this place runs on. ‍ Mike is a 3rd or 4th generation chef, and you can taste the tradition in every bite. His Avgolemono soup is the closest thing I've had to my Aunt Leanora's, and if you know, you know -- that's saying a LOT. The Greek Prime Beef Sandwich is packed with perfectly marinated and seasoned meat, and every special is so well-portioned you'll leave with leftovers (which I was happily enjoying as I wrote this ). I'm also so hyped they brought breakfast back! Their chilaquiles special was hands down the best I've had -- whether from a Mexican or Greek spot. The flavors, textures, and presentation were on point. And just in time for summer -- they remodeled their outdoor patio, and it looks awesome! Perfect spot to kick back, grab a meal, and soak in that Bridgeport charm. Before I moved to Lamar, Colorado, I had the privilege of working for Greek Prime. I can say from experience: this is a real family-run gem in the best food city in the world. If you know, you know. Don't sleep on Greek Prime. From the kitchen to the kindness -- this place delivers every time.

Yelp
The food was good! Everything was fresh & customer service is good. A true hidden gem w/ a big menu.

Yelp
Good food. Fine service. Ambiance #1 Ask for lemon soup, not uzo (ya wet drunk). Broiled chicken on Greek Salad cost a lot, but was worth it.

Sherry W.

Yelp
Great food. Great service! This looks like a neighborhood dive bar but don't let that fool you. The bar area & take out are nice, & the upstairs dining area is small but sufficient. It's the food that keeps me coming back. Great Greek salad, gyros, kebabs, etc! Come & enjoy the amazing food.
google avatar

Yelp
Three stars because of the waiter and it's one of my neighborhood sports bar. So the waiter was super nice and attentive and the ambiance was pretty chill and laid back. Not very busy on a Friday night. Maybe if there was a game there would be couple more people. The place just looked like a typical last minute bar. Food was nothing to rave about. But good enough to snack on while having a brooski and enjoying a ball game. Would I go back, no thank you ..... On to the next one...
google avatar

Neal G.

Yelp
Portions were huge, food was great and service was good. Right next to the park too which is nice.

John C.

Yelp
Potatoes and rice in the gyro platter were WAYYY too salty. The cooks could literally put half that amount in and it would be plenty. Kind of annoying, cuz it has been really good before and is a great bang for your buck. When like 7 other reviews have said this exact same thing, you should have passed that message along to the cooks by now.

Yelp
We were there to celebrate my first corporate party for the New Year. It was an awesome experience and full of joy.

Yelp
Gyros are amazing. I'd recommend them to anyone in Bridgeport area looking for a nice platter . It's filling and always fresh

Yelp
Great job once again fulfilling my Mother's Day catering order! Everything was amazing and easy!

Yelp
This place has hit every time! The servers and bar tenders are all very friendly which makes the experience feel like I am at home. I've had breakfast lunch and dinner from here. Everything has been a hit. Most recently I have tried the tomahawk pork chop that I split with my friend after the saganaki sticks! Amazing !! Must try!

Yelp
** Super Friendly Staff ** ** Quick Service ** ** Delicious ** Walking in, everyone behind the counter was in a frenzy. "Hi! Picking up?" I was immediately greeted. I wasn't and they were slammed! Not a problem, they quickly took my order and in no time at all, food was up! People typically pre order here I came to find out. I had the pork Souvlaki sandwich. Pork Sandwich as it is called on the menu, was possibly one of the best Pork Souvlakia I have ever had. Perfect blend of spices, fat and char. I literally pushed everything out of the sandwich and dug into the meat. Do your self a favor and order the Souvlaki itself. You can thank me later!

Raymi D.

Yelp
The service was excellent, the food was okay. Good for someone really hungry. It'd bar food but the ambiance was an 8/10. Good experience overall
google avatar

Chrissy W.

Yelp
Hadn't eaten here in over 6 months and will never return. From the gnats on the wall (it's winter season) to the horrible service. "We're out of Gyrolls, we're out of spinach pie". Kept forgetting the only drink that we ordered, then after asking for our drinks, we are presented with pale bloated soggy looking cheese sticks. "Sagonaki". No thanks. Ever again. Left. -- I almost forgot to mention the excessive coughing from our server. Pretty bad.
google avatar

Daniel R.

Yelp
Greek prime has a good gyro dish. This place can be pricey. The potato's are always juicy and the rice is always flavorful. The half chicken plate is ok just way too pricey for a half chicken, potato's and rice. Overall, I still pick up a gyro platter every once in a while.
google avatar

Kel E.

Yelp
Stole my money. Will not answer my calls or emails. I ordered online via their website, came to pick it up, and they were not open. They did charge my credit card though. It's been over a month and Mike will not answer my email or call me back. His staff always says he is never there. Very disconcerning for management to never be at their restaurant. It's not a ton of money but they should NOT charge customers for food they did not provide. At the very least, call me back and refund my money!
google avatar

Nora W.

Yelp
Everyone I came with loved their food! The service was also great! I loved the location and the vibe inside of the restaurant. I will be coming back

Yelp
A hidden gem, sitting on the corner of 35th and Halsted, stolid and stoic, low key, yet unassumingly awesome. The cuisine inside is shrouded in a speakeasy façade, but everything is Opa!!! x10 When I say the dinners, the veggies, the burgers are outstanding!...please believe me! I called my order in and spoke with a very polite, professional, and warm, welcoming voice. She listened to my long list of wants and need to have. After finishing my request, one item was out, the spinach pie.., and the rest were repeated like the best auctioneer, so fast, so accurate, and with courtesy. I was surprised on both counts. A friend picked up the order. While he waited he became so impressed with the décor, the people, the food, and the efficiency of the establishment that he now wants to return for a restaurant experience. He saw a burger order being prepared and became overwhelmed with excitement after seeing how large and mouthwateringly delicious it appeared. He then vowed that would be one of his next restaurant purchases upon his return. The take home menu items was nothing short of exceptional. Red Pepper Hummus, Lamb Chop Dinner, Lemon-Chicken Soup. Gyros Bowl, and Sandwich, Grilled Veggies, and Dessert, whew!! All amazing; all spectacular We shall return!!

Destiny G.

Yelp
WOW THIS IS SO GOOD The Greek potatoes are so juicy and the filet mignon is so tender. I got the bowl, and next time I'd probably just get the plate w potatoes and salad the, bowl has a little too many different textures at once imo. But I'm so happy with my food thank you Greek Prime

Denisse M.

Yelp
Never I repeat get the breakfast! My husband I went to eat their breakfast since their dinner menu is amazing, but it was the worst breakfast I had in my life. I asked for my steak medium rare or came out well down. The tots were too salty. The pancakes tasted sour. It was just a bad breakfast. The people next us hated their dishes too. Sorry but I'm so disappointed of how bad the food quality is now Service still the same. That's the who the 2 is for

Rabeb E.

Yelp
Really good place ! We had the gyro pita and the creek fries were amaaazing!! The stuff is so quick and responsive and the vibes are amazing
google avatar

Will J.

Yelp
The service is always very friendly from my numerous times of eating here, the food is great! The gyros I would say are higher quality than most other spots. The gyro egg rolls are always a very good combination. The location inside is very neat and the bar would definitely be nice for catching a sports game. Overall, a really nice spot, nothing ground breaking but a consistent/delicious spot!
google avatar

Caitlyn C.

Yelp
My husband introduced me to this place! He saw a mutual friend post their dinner online and it looked amazing. Soooo, of course we had to give it a try. We ordered the Hercules platter, garlic parm wings, and the bbq pulled pork egg rolls. The gyro meat was the star of the show! The kabobs were also fantastic. Our least favorite dish was the egg rolls. They were good, but had lots of onions. (We are not onion people) We look forward to visiting again in the near future to get the gyro plate and maybe try a few new sides! If you are in the area I strongly encourage you give it a shot!
google avatar

Karen C.

Yelp
Service is excellent. Ambiance is excellent. The gyro meat is always well done . I've been here twice and each time it was the same. I really want to like it more , but that makes me choose it next last to others. The meat should be tender and not dry. Otherwise it's a nice place.
google avatar

Ang M.

Yelp
I typically order dinner for pick up, and tonight was a Greek Prime night. As soon as I walk in I'm greeted, which is always nice. They double checked my order to ensure that all items were in my order. My food was ready for pick up in less than 20 minutes. The Hercules is my go to. The skewers are delicious. The shrimp and filet mignon skewers are my personal favorite, fresh with a lot of flavor and citrus. The gyro-rolls are delicious. Not too greasy with the perfect amount of feta on top. The avgolemono is good. I prefer it to be more lemony, but they gave me some lemon on the side. The rice pudding has the perfect amount of sweetness. Great spot in the neighborhood that never disappoints.
google avatar

Wanda C.

Yelp
The Chef's Specialty Hercules entree was to die for. The Mango Margarita was on point. The Tiramisu was to die for. The price was magnificent. I will be coming back.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
We first had this at our friend's birthday party and it left a very good impression with us. We ordered takeout a few weeks after and had the Hercules and grilled vegetables platter with rice and French fries. The Hercules is a great deal with plenty of meat. The description says it's good for 2-4 people. The four us couldn't finish in one sitting and had a good amount of gyro meat and pita bread left over for a second meal. The Hercules doesn't come with any sides other than the pita bread so I would highly suggest ordering or making your own salad to go with it. We were not fans of the grilled vegetable platter. It came with two skewers and more than half of it were onions. I don't think zucchini and mushrooms are that much more expensive than onions. The rice and French fries, which was essentially two pieces of potato wedges, was packed with sodium.
google avatar

Recipe T.

Yelp
Their dishes are always very flavorful. I have been here ever since they opened and replaced the old pizza joint. Great stuff.
google avatar

Anne P.

Yelp
Excellent food!! Mike is a gracious and awesome host! My favorite is the hummus and Greek lemon soup!!
google avatar

Becca L.

Yelp
I ordered a specialty tray, the Hercules, for pick up along with chicken riganati (half chicken) and a large Greek salad. It fed 7 adults with an additional homemade side. It was affordable and the food was very flavorful. The skewers were well seasoned but was a bit stuck to the skewers so expect to really use your hands. The staff was very welcoming and friendly on the phone when taking my order. Timely pick up. It felt like a hospitable spot that probably has regulars from the neighborhood. I look forward to dining in one day. Parking is easy on the streets.
google avatar

Corey N.

Yelp
We came to Greek Prime with high expectations but were left disappointed. There's a mix of Greek and non-Greek dishes at GP and the traditional Greek dishes were clearly better. The saganaki and the Avgolemono soup were particularly good. The mains were not nearly as good. I ordered a burger that was hard and mostly tasteless. If judged on food alone GP would get 3.5 stars (understanding that it isn't an option). Unfortunately, everything else was subpar. The environment was uninviting. The Sox game was uncomfortably loud, particularly the commercials, which were blaring throughout the dining room, despite no one paying particularly close attention to the game. It was difficult to hold a conversation because someone decided loud = ambience. The margarita was terrible. Quite possibly the worst I've ever had. It wasn't busy when we came and while our server was nice enough, she disappeared for long stretches and never came back to take out check. Not a place that I would seek out again anytime soon.
google avatar

Dawnne L.

Yelp
The food never disappoints. Had the Hercules platter and nachos for Sunday football and it was delicious Great for 4 people with leftovers

Maria s.

Yelp
Good food. The chicken quesadillas and chicken pita sandwich are good. I get their Greek potatoes as a side which are also good. I do take out. If they answer their phones, and by if, I mean they get super busy for lunch and there is only 1 lady working the whole front area and sometimes she doesn't pick up or puts on hold or there is a HORRIBLE connection you can't even hear. Definitely need to work on the front desk area. One person alone cannot answer phone, take orders, take peoples orders who are actual there iin person I'm line too, put the orders together, and check out at the one register they only have.
google avatar

B G.

Yelp
I heard about the gyro eggrolls and wanted to try them. They were good. I also ordered the chicken pita with the Greek potatoes and that too was good.
google avatar

Tyga M.

Yelp
My family is borderline addicted to this place, myself included. We have yet to have a chance to dine inside (it looks spacious and nice!), as we order takeout. From the massive amount of food that you get, I can't even imagine how much one gets when they dine in. We typically order their Gyro platter, which comes with two sides - I recommend all the sides except the Greek salad, which has more iceberg lettuce than any other ingredient. Whether you're getting a gyro pita or a platter, it will come with an insane amount of meat, but not so much that it overpowers the amount of lettuce and tomato that accompany it. On the platter, I'd advise that you order an extra side of pita bread if you want leftovers.

R N.

Yelp
DO NOT order the hummus! We got food poisoning from eating it. When I called to address the problem, no one was available to help. Although, I guess they can't make you unsick. They could have at least taken responsibility for their SPOILED FOOD.
google avatar

Charisse N.

Yelp
Great food and service. Went there today with my husband and we started with Mikes famous greek gyrolls. They were sooo good! The gyro meat was juicy and and we also loved the tzatziki sauce. My husband loved the lamb chops with greek potatoes and rice pilaf. I of course had to try his food and I was amazed at how well seasoned and flavorful they were! He ordered them medium well and they were so tender and juicy!! We both really enjoyed the greek potatoes. I had the chicken pita with fries! The pita was so big I had to cut it in half and still couldn't finish that half. I also loved the fries. My husband ordered an Old Fashioned and I had the Love passion cocktail and they were great! We are already talking about what will order when we return! Thanks to our server Jenn who provided great recommendations on what to order.
google avatar

Shani M.

Yelp
The Greek potatoes were absolutely delicious- the most flavorful potatoes ever. Greek chicken wings were super tasty and the gyro was authentic and very good!!!
google avatar

Blair R.

Yelp
First visit and definitely not my last. Food is amazing waiter, Nicholas, great. Thank you for food,I am now a major fan of this restaurant. Small and friendly and the staff is amazing. When I am Back in town your on my places to go.
google avatar

Cynthia N.

Yelp
Went to Greek Prime again and I cannot recommend this place enough! Dangerously good! Got the gyro platter with 2 sides of the Greek potatoes and the saganaki sticks... again. This time we also tried the BBQ Rock 'n Rollers. They were really good! If you like BBQ flavor, do not hesitate. The fried shell was delicious and crispy, great texture! This is the best part of the dish. There wasn't a ton of pulled pork, but enough, and the flavors were balanced. Next time we'll try the Jo's Rolls. We plan to Greek Prime at least 2-3 times a month. Their food is solid.
google avatar

minang O.

Yelp
Went here in the new year eve as other restaurants were fully booked. Lucky me. The food was excellent and the price was reasonable. Ordered rib eye steak with fries and salad. Also we ordered appetizers golden calamari, octopus, and gyrols. The desserts were also good including baklava cheese cake.
google avatar

Naiima D.

Yelp
I saw alll the great reviews about this place so I decided to order from them yesterday. I have had a hankering for a good gyros for awhile!!! Alasssss I found the spot!! I ordered on GrubHub. My food came fast. I ordered a gyro plate it came with rice and a salad. It was delicious. The meat wasn't salty at allll! Very flavorful! It only came with one pita cut in fours. I wish I had known cause I needed another pita. The Tzatziki sauce was delish and fresh. I was given a nice size cup too. It was about 4 oz. The rice was rice, not bad but nothing special. Maybe you guys should sprinkle some fresh dill and or lemon on it. Next time I will try the Greek potatoes. My Greek salad was good. Nice and fresh!!! They gave a nice slice of feta with it. The dressing that looked like it could have been a bootleg watered down French but wasn't. It was vinegar based and very savory. It went perfectly with my Greek salad. My gyro hankering was satisfied!!! I can't wait to try other menu items. Keep banging in the kitchen!!! *When delivery drivers are picking up food for delivery could you guys make sure the containers are stapled and the bag is tied. Just in case they want to get a lil taste or something worse!
google avatar

Yelp
Greek Gyros in Bridgeport and less of a distance to travel to Greek Town (on Halsted street). Glad that there were no lines as I decided to visit them on a Sunday. They had a large selection of appetizers ranging from wings to grilled octopus. I figured I start with something that I use to eating which is a Gyro Platter which comes with one side (fries). I choose not to eat there so I brought it home . Fries was still crispy and the gyro was nicely packaged with all the fixings. It was good for the price and a joy to eat. I will definitely go back for more items in their menu. Prices were average and the taste is expensive.

Yelp
I can't say enough good things about Greek Prime in Chicago! This place is an absolute gem. Not only does it serve up some of the most delicious Greek food I've ever tasted, but their burgers and sandwiches are out of this world! It's like getting two incredible dining experiences in one spot. The staff here are fantastic--friendly, attentive, and always ready with a smile. They make you feel right at home from the moment you walk in. And let's not forget about the full bar! Whether you're in the mood for a classic cocktail or something more adventurous, they've got you covered. Overall, Greek Prime is a must-visit if you're in Chicago. Great food, great drinks, and great people--what more could you ask for? 10/10, would dine here again and again! -Shawn
