Green Basil Thai Restaurant

Decided to try Green Basil after glowing recommendation from local regulars. So glad we did, because it’s delicious and everyone that works here is wonderful. There are classic, more commonly known Thai dishes, as well as lesser known dishes on the menu that provide a lovely variety. I got the crispy pork with prik king & side of white rice, my boyfriend got the green curry fried rice, and we both got Thai iced teas. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be back.

This is an outstanding Thai restaurant! It ranks very highly among the best we've ever had! We're vegetarian and had no trouble finding suitable dishes. I had the vegetable green curry and it was wonderful! The flavors were balanced between slight sweetness, spiciness (i ordered spicy--one level below the highest: extra spicy) and curry flavor. I don't like sweet curries, and this was not too sweet, but just a hint. My dish included extra veggies, like Chinese eggplant, squash, bell peppers and carrots. You can get if with other proteins, too, such as chicken, beef or tofu. My wife had the tofu panang curry, which i tasted. It was a bit creamier than the green curry due to more coconut milk, but it had similar mild sweetness, good spice and balanced curry flavor. These are truly wonderful dishes! We also ordered basil vegetable rolls, which had fresh lettuce, basil, carrots and other fresh veggies wrapped in a moist rice paper roll. They were served with an excellent peanut sauce. They were so fresh and delightful! We ordered my son an appetizer of soy chicken nuggets, which were a bit tough, but he ate them with a vegetable roll. Their flavor was very good. He loves peanut butter, so that peanut sauce sealed the deal for him. You must try this place! I highly recommend it!

You wouldn't think much of this quaint little spot but the food here really packs a punch. I got the yellow chicken curry with white rice and it was incredible. The chicken was cooked well, and the curry came out steaming hot with such a great aroma of flavors. The creaminess of the curry complimented the rice well, and added a new depth of flavor with the vegetables. Not to mention that they gave me a lot of chicken and a lot of potatoes and carrots. The service was quick and exceptional. I ordered probably within 5 minutes of getting seated and my food came out quickly as well. Highly recommend this place for anyone in the area.

Better than Before! Since we speak Thai, So we have a little chat whit the chef and management. They just move out from busy Thai town and create their own kitchen here. They are just great. This is one of the few times that we had better Thai food outside Thailand. Many things to recommend indeed. We had Fried Pork Basil, 2 Som Tam (papaya salad); Tam Thai(vegetarian salad) and Tam Laos (adding Thai Pickled Fish/chef's recommended) and of course Pad Thai (Stir-fried Rice Noodle. We will be back again for sure!

Finally a good Thai spot for this area. Food was authentic and great quality. Will definitely be visiting again. The Rad Na and curry were delicious, and the Tom Kha Kai fantastic.

Authentic and friendly place. Small but tasty. Come before rush hour like meal times and you will be fine. The good part is there is a parking lot next to the building. Nice little place with really Thai food that has not been Americanized and I hope not anytime soon. I can hear the wok sound from where I sit. Taste it while it is smoking hot and it is how the Thai food is supposed to be. Music is Thai, food is Thai, waitress is Thai and the feeling is Thai as well.

We loved this small restaurant. The delicious food is freshly prepared according to the guests' wishes. The selection of dishes is varied, but not so much with the drinks. The service was nice and helpful. The ambience is a little simple with the plastic tablecloths, but somehow authentic. The portions were large and the value for money was great.

I went there today and what a great place. The service was perfect.So kind The food was sooooo good with generous portions. Loved the calming music and atmosphere . This place is diamonds for sure will be back.

My girlfriend and I found this place nearby and we had to try it. It's a small but cozy spot off of Los Virgenes with a warm and respectful staff ! We ordered the crab fried rice and drunken noodles and it was delicious ! Presentation was nice and it didn't take too long to prepare even though they were visually busy with walk-ins and take-out orders. Overall, will go again ! I found this place by driving by and noticing the cute atmospheric lights around the cafe and I wanted to try it out. Food was delicious and flavorful. I got the Chicken Thai fried rice, Chicken Satay with peanut sauce, and fried chicken dumplings which all hit the spot with flavor. The service was great and the waitresses were very kind. I also got Roti Nom which is a flatbread with condensed milk and sugar and I loved it. Not overly sweet and a light dessert!

Prior to Covid this place was good. The restaurant has changed hands multiple times. Curries are watered down and protein is half of what used to new and the prices have gone up

Just left LAX heading towards VC and decided to stop here for a quick dinner. The vibe was chill with a few tables and service was quick and friendly. I saw the Thai aunties cooking the food when I went to the bathroom so I knew it was going to be authentic and good. AND WAS! I ordered the Pad Woon Sen w chicken. The veggies were so fresh and the flavor was mild but loved that they have the chili spices on the side to make it hot! The portion was large enough to get full, share with my kid and have leftovers for a morning snack. My husband got the Pad See Ew and let me know it had good flavor and was the best he'd had in a while. Random: the bathroom was clean and smelled so good!! Would def go back to try some other favorites.

Delicious food and wonderful, quick service. This restaurant is a gem and the Panang curry with soy chicken was delectable. I had a Thai iced tea and a Thai iced coffee and boba was available for both! Beautiful, bright dining area with festive decor. The team here is so welcoming and the owner does a fantastic job. I am vegan and this was a rare find. I will be back again!!

Service has become quite slow and lacking. The owners should really have two employees out front. It's unreasonable to expect one person to be handling the phone, packing to go orders, taking orders at tables, delivering drinks, and clearing tables. It's a small restaurant but they are understaffed. It's not the employees fault. The owners need to get another person to share the workload. There is work more than one person can do alone.

Ordered Mango Sticky Rice (damn cravings!) and steamed dumplings through door dash. Mango sticky rice is a little hard to find right now but this was delicious!!! It traveled well. Probably one of my top places for ordering this! Would definitely order here again or maybe actually go to the restaurant.

Stopped to have lunch after a taking my dog to the vet. Staff is so friendly and even made my dog feel welcome on the patio. Brought him fresh water then took our order. We (my sister and I) ordered the pad se ew and spicy chow mein and both were delicious! Fresh ingredients and very tasty! Can't wait to come back and try more dishes!!

Disappointing meal. It has been a few years since we've eaten a meal from here, so I'm wondering if ownership has changed. It was always so delicious in the past. We were planning to be in the area, so we ordered a take-out meal to take home. We ordered 2 x Yellow curry with chicken - MILD. Unfortunately it came with very little flavor and WAS spicy. I called the next day and was told it was mild and to say "not spicy" next time. It seems all they did was take away the flavor, but not the spice. I also remember previously they didn't add onions and carrots to this dish, and it would have been so much better without. We had one without carrots, but there were a lot of onions. We also ordered the Pad Thai Noodles with beef. These were tasteless and just clung together. The beef was very thin and had very little flavor. We were glad we added a side of peanut sauce for flavor. The Thai Iced coffee, was DELICOUS. But on the whole, a very disappointing meal for over $70 with tip.

We order from here every time we visit friends in Calabasas. Some of the best Thai around. The food has a rich flavor and is consistent. My friend is half Thai, so he is picky. Not his mama's cooking but delicious nonetheless. I find the green curry especially good!

Great Thai place where you would least expect it! Don't let the strip mall fool you, the food here is top notch! They have excellent lunch specials, and fast service... if you happen to work near here it is a great option for lunch. I am never disappointed when visiting, they have indoor and outdoor seating and the vibe is casual. There is both lot and street parking. I really enjoy the curry here. The spicy basil chicken is also good. They have a ton of vegetarian options as well.

BEST Thai food! So many flavors. The staff are so friendly and personal, and always ensure every customer is happy. The shop itself is so cute, right off of Las Virgenes with both indoor and outdoor seating. 10/10 recommend.

Green Basil Thai, is a cute Thai place located in a small strip mall Las Virgenes Blvd. it is a small family business with a warm, friendly and welcoming atmosphere.. the food is great and they can make many of the dishes vegan. I recommend the Tom Kha soup with the creamy coconut base and the mat great lemongrass taste. I ordered mine with extra veggies and tofu. Yum! It's a great place to bring family and friends

We wanted some Thai food and this place popped up in our Yelp search. Upon entering, we were quickly greeted by the staff. She was very kind and sweet. My friend and I both ordered the signature Pad Thai (one with shrimp and the other with chicken). Generous portions and quite delicious! More on the sweeter side so I suggest not being afraid to ask for a higher spice level. Their Thai tea was legit soo goood!! So refreshing. For appetizers, I ordered the cream cheese wonton. It was nicely folded and fried so I came out like a flower. The filling consists of cream cheese and imitation crab meat. The sweet chili sauce was very yummy. Good portions. My friend got the steamed dumplings (chicken) and said it was decent. Not a lot of fillings tho. Overall, good enough to satisfy your dumpling cravings. Service was very welcoming. There was only 1 person working in the front and she was very attentive. Very colorful and vibrant place. Overall, a solid spot if you're looking to have Thai food.

This is my new favorite Thai place! It's so delicious and not greasy. We tried their shrimp fried rice which was so yummy! My daughter ate all the shrimp! I also tried their steamed fish with spice on the side. I love that it comes with fresh veggies. My little one gobbled it up! Their large chicken salad was also so yummy, the perfect amount of spice! Can't wait to go back and try more!

My boyfriend and I came here after a coworker had brought him here (and said it was the best Thai in the area), and it really lived up to the hype. We had the chicken satay, spicy chicken fried rice, and the special which was a mix of veggies and crispy pork which was amazing. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and was really flavorful - we'll definitely be back! P.S. There's a small parking lot around the side!

2 years ago this was our favorite thai restaurant. But things has changed since. Portions got smaller. Listening skills decreased. I always order no onions and they put onions in my dish. And usually I don't complain, I just pick the onions out. I always eat not spicy. Last few orders I got extra spicy, even I ordered not spicy, I repeated my self twice - not spicy. Please listen to your customer better. I drove back to exchange it, and got nothing but attitude back. I asked them to do the right thing. But they literally don't care. Customer service is horrible. We're not coming back and I'm sad to write that. Beware.

Can't say enough good things about this place. I'm moving 30 minutes away and it's a rough terrain but I will consider driving there.

It doesn't get any better than green basil, the service, quality of food, and price. They're seriously nothing better than green Thai basil I've been coming here for over seven years.

Beware of ordering on Uber Eats. At 4.30pm I scheduled a delivery for 6pm - 6.30pm and nothing arrived. Having called at 7.30pm to enquire where the order was I was told they 'get busy' and 'hope I understand' ? At 8pm I gave up waiting, customer service is clearly not a priority for scheduled deliveries.

This is the best Thai food in the whole Valley, besides 'Hope' in Studio city. I order from here regularly. The ingredients are ALWAYS super fresh and service is always friendly and fast. Also, the dishes are not overly oily! This is such a relief.. too many places add way too much oil and make it low quality. Green Basil Thai adds only small amounts of oil while keeping the veggies crisp and fresh. (Not overcooked) I recommend ordering the drunken noodles. I like to order mine VEGAN (without fish sauce), and VERY spicy. The drunken noodles are imo, the best dish on the menu- always full with fresh Thai basil, and a nice mix of veggies- highly recommended ordering BOTH veggies AND your choice of protein- it's only like $2 extra. The green curry is also wonderful! My only constructive criticism would be for the Pad Thai- I actually think their version of this dish lacks authenticity.. it needs more flavor and depth.. maybe it's lacking a good quality tamarind? Not sure. Everything else is amazing though!! I'm grateful they exist.. thank you Green Thai Basil Team!!

I've only ordered take out so this review is only for the food. I'm addicted to their Khao Soi. It's an incredible melange of flavors once you add the condiments. I really cannot recommend it enough. Green and red curries were very tasty.

Absolutely love this little gem! Their Chicken Pad See Ew is awesome. My little one and I get it ALL THE TIME. Never disappoints. The ladies are always so nice. Service is quick and with a smile. Definitely try this spot out for your Thai food fix!

Been coming here for a few years and been happy. Tonight was really bad. Our waiter was wearing a varsity style outwear jacket as he waited tables. I do not expect a uniform but at last look like you are handling food and not changing the oil in my car. We had fried rice combo, beans and eggplant all not good. $57.00 plus tip.

I've had the yellow curry dish and the green curry dish. Both a 6 out of 10. Rice was not that good and the chicken was way overcooked in the curries. But nice stayy and clean. Not bad. Not great.

Ordered a to-go order. Everything was so good! Fresh and vibrant. The spicy levels that the foods comes as is great! I like spicy but don't love it lol. It was really spot on. Our new go to since we moved in nearby!

There spicy is no joke. Love it, if you want a challenge just ask for the super spicy real Thai style. Staff is very nice also.

Food was good with great accommodations for gluten/wheat free. My only disappointment was the portion size was smaller than I would have liked. We ordered soup plus an entry for each person and I was still hungry when all the food was finished.

Great tasting Thai food in Calabasas! Green Basil Thai is tucked away towards the end of Las Virgenes Road, seemingly at the edge of nowhere. Only those that live in this area would likely stumble upon this place by chance, as there's really not a whole lot going on around it. Now that I'm working in the area, however, and thanks to Yelp, I decided to check this place out to see what it was all about. It did not disappoint. At about 12 noon on a Tuesday, we stopped in for lunch. The restaurant itself is pretty small, with just a handful of tables. There were only a couple other diners there when we arrived, but the restaurant did fill up as we were getting ready to leave. Service was nice, friendly, helpful, and accommodating. The restaurant seemed fairly clean, and they were playing good music, which added to the Thai restaurant ambiance. For lunch, I ordered the pineapple fried rice, without raisins, priced at $12. My friend ordered the pad see ew with chicken, priced at $11. The food came out pretty quick, and the serving sizes were LARGE. More than enough to satisfy. In fact, neither of us could even finish our meal. Both dishes tasted great. I thought the flavors were delicious, and all of the ingredients were cooked well. My only complaint is not enough pineapple in the fried rice. Green Basil Thai offers authentic Thai food at an affordable cost. Considering the jumbo portions, it's actually a pretty good deal. You won't leave here hungry, as they very much hook you up, and the food all tastes delicious. The menu offers a good variety of dishes, with something for everyone. If you're in the area craving Thai, don't hesitate to stop in here.

Hands down my favorite Thai restaurant ever! This gem makes such delicious and authentic food. The flavors are incredible! Try the Panang Curry and Tom Yum Soup. The wonton soup and mango sticky rice are also to die for!

Food is good but they need better management and need to open earlier. Due to online orders, by the time they open, they're already behind.

Tasty food but I wish their stir fry dishes had a little more sauce. Regarding take out orders, I'd like to remind the restaurant staff that there isn't good cell reception around the restaurant, so when you change the app-based pickup times we might not see the change if we're driving or parked outside. It's also hard to wait inside because it's a small restaurant. This next part of the review is more for the owners- I miss the friendly woman who used to work the takeout counter. The new guy in the green apron who does that station is rude and passive aggressive to customers. I thought he was having a bad day the first time he acted like this, but it's happened more than once and I've overheard him acting the same way with other customers. On my most recent visit he seemed annoyed I was early- I didn't see him change my pickup time while I driving. Ultimately my food was ready 20 minutes earlier than the 50 minutes he quoted me, but he didn't update the app until 5 minutes after I saw him toss my food bag on the pick up table while I was waiting in my car. I thought it was someone else's food because it was ready so much earlier than my quoted time, but after seeing no one go in to grab it I went and asked and discovered it was mine. It's frustrating for obvious reasons- it's a waste of time and the food is sitting around getting cold. Maybe choose someone else to be dealing with customers and take out orders front of house.

I've been going for years and it's always wonderful! To start off the restaurant itself is very nice and comforting. The service is always very good and they are always very attendant. The serve the food fast and everything is so tasty! The pad see ew is one of my favorites and is always consistent. Would 100% recommend this place.

Food is amazing! This is our go to Thai food place, it's a bit of a drive but so worth it. It's a small but fun colorful space, service is always attentive.

This Thai spot really is the best west of Thailand!! The people working there are friendly and the flavors are so close to Thailand it feels like you are in the land of smiles! I love this place so much and am grateful I live so close!
