"Lighting the way for Brisbane’s craft breweries, the Green Beacon is one of our favourite places to have a pint. You’ll find it hidden in the back streets of Teneriffe, where the team produces, packages and pours their beautifully crafted range of beers every day and night of the week. Pull up a pew and indulge in some of the great bites on offer, like beer-loving biltong or a platter of local seafood. If you love your food on wheels, you can usually find one of Brisbane’s food trucks in residence." - Bigfish

Discovered this venue whilst walking past.I was impressed with the cleanliness.Spacious and Friendly service. The food was tasty. The brisket loaded fries is something different and recommend ordering this meal. Good to see they had a non alcoholic pilsner available. The brewery was well displayed. What amazed me though was sparkling water freely available without the price tag. Great night out for dinner.

A rainy weekday night, if you are on your own and feel like going out, this place would be perfect. In a high ceiling warehouse venue, munching greasy food with their beer, it was fantastic and a special naughty treat for me. I saw at least 3 people having a drink by themselves. The brewer's burger was awesome. I could walk here in less than 10min from where I live. That was a bonus. When will my partner have a girl's night again?

Great beer and service. Chips were hot and fresh. Burger bun was cold and old, the meat patty was dry. We left and may not be back.

The place has good vibe and good atmosphere, the seating is nice and cosy. My local drinking hole when we lived in New Farm. They have a great collection of beers and they try to bring new flavours every time. Some of the beers are very expensive and hits your pocket hard when you want to drink a few. My all time favorite is Wayfarer. They also have different food truck come to visit them. Every day the truck changes and the food you get is incredible. Occasionally one of the trucks might be hit and miss. Finding parking might sometimes be an issue due to its location in Newstead. It is also surrounded by a lot of other breweries which are within walking distance.

Google
Nice beers… but the menu online doesn’t match the menu on location. Furthermore, I ordered “seasoned fries with ketchup” and received normal fries with aioli. A bit of a let down as I’ve enjoyed coming here for years and my first experience with the newly opened kitchen was mediocre at best. I’ll still come for the drinks, but I’ll stay clear of Helen Street Kitchen.

Staff were disinterested, rude & dismissive. One staff member was more interested in talking to, what appeared to be her boyfriend, who was seated at the bar, than serving paying customers. No option for cash payment, however extra % charged for using eftpos. The food portions were very small & not tasty. This was not helped by the fact that ingredients stated on the menu were obviously absent in the meal. Topped off with expensive drinks with stingy pours. Overall it was just a very substandard disappointing experience. Would absolutely not go back or recommend.

I got a watermelon mojito and it was very light and refreshing. One of the people I was with got the lemon beer and really didn’t like it, everyone tried it and agreed. Overall vibe was really cool inside, it is light and airy. Staff was a little bit grumpy, but I think it was because it was a holiday.

Great venue, even better people. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff - we held my partner's birthday there on Sunday. Perfect sunday session - such chill vibes! Dog and toddler friendly!! Will be back!

Yelp
This is another rather delightful brewery that I discovered in my wanderings around Fortitude Valley. Okay, it is located in an former warehouse, but that probably shouldn't be all that surprising considering that this part of Brisbane is still somewhat full of them. Yeah, this brewery was actually really nice, and noticeably popular as well. Oh, and the beer wasn't all that bad either.

Yelp
Green Beacon is a great place to grab beers with friends. The environment is awesome and the selection of beers is plentiful.

Yelp
This nautical themed craft brewer does many things a little different--often better--among the fleet of local breweries, which I appreciate. However what's most impressive at Green Beacon is that they consistently produce excellent beer while offering a full range of brew styles. There's no better place than here to enjoy navigating through the sea of brew styles.

Yelp
A little gem hidden in Teneriffe. The bar staff are friendly and quite obliging; given its a local brewing company I didn't mind paying $10 for a pint of the local stuff which was quite refreshing. The cider was quite nice to it was dry with a bit of a tang to it (just the thing on a hot day of beer isn't your thing). They had fresh seafood on offer at a reasonable price as well as wood fire pizzas. The set up has a bit of a shed feel but the friendly and casual environment compliments it. The facilities are rather tiny and situated up stairs however they were well maintained. There was a bucks night/day happening and the place was big enough that it was more entertainment rather than a hinderance. Definitely would go back.

Yelp
We went as a group of four for some Friday afternoon drinks. Ambience was good and easily got a table. It's a trendy factory with great beers and I was personally shocked at the lovely rose/Shiraz wine. We ordered just a meat plate and cheese plate which served us four well. Water is help yourself at the end of the bar. It's a super chilled atmosphere! Kids and dogs are welcome.

Yelp
I really like a place where I can sit at the bar. I've made some of my best friends that way and it just feels comforting and relaxed. I've come to Green Beacon for a drink with a mate, part of my "Discover Brisbane" thing. First off, I love a good brewery. There's something special about drinking booze on site. Secondly, the staff at GBBC were lovely. Like, I want them to be my friends. We sat and enjoyed three pint and intermittently chatted to the bartender. The atmosphere at the pub was great, it was filled with a really diverse mix of people, many of whom had adorable dogs with them. My cider was freaking yum. Made off site (although still by them), the rich, dry cider was exactly what I wanted. It was thirst quenching and I wanted more of it. I fell in love with the decor and the staff (did I mention I loved the staff) and I am looking forward to heading in for a longer session with all of the foods and many more of the beers.

Yelp
Green Beacon Brewing Co opened their doors on Australia Day - a very fitting date for a microbrewery located in the inner-city suburb of Teneriffe. We discovered them quite by chance, searching the area for breakfast. A crowd of people holding coffee mugs and a coffee company umbrella down Helen Street mistakenly drew us to a breakfast dead-end (coffee at a java station, yes. Food? No.), but it turned out to be fate. The building housing the Green Beacon Brewing Co is an old warehouse, a nod to the historical charm of the district that had once been a beacon of industry in the wool trade. The interior does not take away from that charm with its exposed industrial high ceiling, simple wide benches for a biergarten vibe and rows of silver brewing tanks behind the bar. In fact, once the sun goes down and the lights come on, Green Beacon Brewing Co seemed to generate a warm welcoming vibe. While Green Beacon Brewing Co's beverage menu includes a small selection of wines and non-alcoholic beverages, one should really be visiting a microbrewery for its brews. Green Beacon Brewing Co had six ales on offer. Their menu is meant to compliment their crafted beers and their kitchen isn't large, so don't expect an extensive restaurant-style selection. Between the SO and I, we found our order of a half dozen Kooringal Moreton Bay Rock Oysters and the Session Plate to be easy to wolf down - although we did order a cup of nubs (the nubby end of a bread roll) to help finish off the wedge of cheddar. What they do serve is of good quality and is fresh. However I would love to see their menu expand to include hot pub food, such as chips, wedges, whiting, nachos or pies... you know, real hearty stuff for winter.

Yelp
Relaxed vibe and friendly staff. Love the beer soap! Good local drinking spot. The visiting food vans are good for a meal mid week to change things up! They have always let us have our dog out the front tied up which get bonus points.

Yelp
This has been on the to do list for quite a while. This place is really cool , once you walk into the place you get this really cool breeze flowing through. We ordered the fries with capsicum sauce which was quite a different taste . But still very tasty , we also ordered the passion fruit gosa. And the American Wheet beer which was very refreshing . When you order you have to go outside into a other room and order from a food van, they bring the food to you inside. All in all a very pleasant experience to chill with friends.

Yelp
Really amazing atmosphere and plenty of spots to sit. Really loved all the beers and the staff was very nice and knew the beers well, made it easy to select. Burger truck came and Mr.Burger was so so good! But not as great as this brewery. Great after work spot or just to pop in and grab a drink

Caroline F.

Yelp
Really enjoyed this brew pub. It's a long narrow bar with an open air front area. The staff is really friendly and helpful. As tourists, they even helped us with other places to check out in Brisbane. Plenty of beers to try, but no paddles. That is the only downside. And the place allows dogs! Really chill atmosphere. A must try if you are a beer drinker in Brisbane.

Yelp
Craft Beer is the thing in Brisbane at the moment, we love it, we drink it a lot and we love the venues. Obviously the craze will die down, some venues will survive, some won't and it's the hospitality circle of life. But it's hard to imagine we'll ever go back to buckets of corona, in some form you'd take a good punt on craft beer being here to stay in the same way the Real Ale movement forever changed London drinking. You can see why this is a one way shift at GBCo, truly the most elegant of the new venues. GBCo has much in common with similar nearby venues including the exposed brick walls, rough hewn bar, concrete floor, big display kegs etc. but it's not all quite so distressed. Instead of wooden palates or milk crates there's high tables along the side and low slung tables in the front with very comfortable and elegant wire frame seating. Their beers are not a collection of what everyone else is doing, they are brewed on premises and they run the gamut across IPA, to lager, stout and brown ale etc. The beers themselves are absolutely delightful, never had a bad one and they sit neatly alongside a well curated wine list featuring some very pleasant Australian labels. You can also take away beers in larger bottles which is surprisingly affordable. The other thing that is truly distinctive is the food. Craft beer venues have an unfortunate habit of restricting their food to the 'dude food' category of wings, sliders, chilli-fries etc. Sure, fine, nice enough, but very samey samey and if you think about it, a bit patronising. As if my enjoyment of beer means my food demographic is fried, salty fat. I'm cool with this food, i enjoy it on rare occasions but meh, we get it and i don't like kitsch menus, they annoy me. It's why i won't go to tiki bars, EVER. Besides, Carolina Kitchen does all that and better, so try something else or just order it in from them. GBCo has a selection of simple sea-foods, crudo and salumi and cheeses. The seafood platter has bugs, prawns and oysters from their very own pots. The cured meats and dips are aces and all very nice. I actually want to single out the cheese platter as one of the best on the 4005/6 peninsula. Really stunning cheese presented well and surprisingly affordable. I thought the beer soap was a bit of a silly gimmicky touch. Shows what this bozo knows, it's a really delicately scented soap with a super rich lather and actually really luxurious. I love this place, i love everything about it, do yourself a favour.

Yelp
After coming across a piece in the Brisbane News, I was overjoyed to discover that Brisbane now has a craft brewery located in Teneriffe, just a couple blocks away from the Ferry stop. Open Weds, Thursdays and the weekends, this seem to be the new go-to spot for groups and beer lovers. After completing a two hour long walk through the south part of the river, my husband and I took the ferry over and hunted for this brewery. It is an easy find, with the appropriate signage. It is held in a warehouse store, and you can see several shiny chrome tanks brewing their ales, and it fits its bill as a working brewery (closed on Mondays and Tuesdays so the staff can do their thing.) There is an minimalist-industrial sink available for patrons use -- pretty smart for those who need to watch their hands before digging into seafood, and cleaning up afterwards. Yes, they offer local seafood - mud crabs, prawns, and oysters. Market prices are marked on the giant board. There are bar spaces, and plenty of communal type tables and seating areas, however at 3-ish on a Sunday afternoon, it was filled to the max. Beers are their own on tap. They have a small selection of wine available for those who prefer not to have beer (or perhaps needed an alcoholic GF option, eg my husband). They serve wine in a regular small water glass -- this is my husband's complaint -- I looked at him as if he forgot he's in a BREWERY... Ok, as we approached an open space at the bar, I asked the beertender if they offered any flights/taster paddles. They do not. But she was kind enough to offer a small taste of any I desire. Rather than being greedy and asking for tastes of all of them, I opted for the Penny Porter (I'm a fan of darker ales, porters and stouts). I love the freshness out of the taps. Most, if not all, ales are available for take-away in squealers or growlers (refillable). At the moment, they're out of the growlers container (awaiting shipment from the States -- this made me smile with pride...)

Yelp
This little brewery has become a staple entry in our "mid week easy breezy date night repertoire". It's a solid go-to for tasty nibbles (we're yet to eat a proper meal here), great atmosphere and tasty beverages. I adore the long tables at Green Beacon. Couple these with the massive ceilings and huge vats of beer and cider and you're left with a place that has a distinct rustic and yet polished charm. One thing we always comment on is the excellent mix of music that is played here. It's like they have raided my entire music collection. But the best part is they never play it so loud that you can't hear someone next to you. It's the perfect venue for conversation. Being gluten intolerant I indulge in the house apple cider every time we go in. It's always crisp, fragrant and really delicious. My partner loves sampling the many ales and beers and always settles on an amazing new choice every visit. The staff are friendly and accommodating and I don't think I've ever had to wait longer than around 5 minutes to be served. We will often get a cheese platter to share with our drinks - consisting of cheese, crackers (rice crackers available on request for glutards like myself), quince paste, prosciutto, olives and some kind of dip. The little share platter is the perfect size to have before dinner, and balances well with the cider. I have really enjoyed the times we've spent at Green Beacon and plan on going back again and again, whenever the urge strikes us for a drink and nibble within strolling distance of home.

Yelp
I am a craft beer lover... This place has curb appeal with a refined type taste. None of the beers tasted like the next. The penny porter reminded me of a coffee porter that I had in Houston but not quite a creamy. My hats off to you Green Beacon Brewery.

Clarissa W.

Yelp
A great brewery with delicious beers, good atmosphere and a weekly lineup of local food trucks

Yelp
We finally made it to the Green Beacon Brewery. I was the driver for the night so I did not have any beer but my husband and friends enjoyed the selection. We got there about 4:30 on Friday so we were able to get a table. Glad we did as when we left at 7:30 the place was packed!! They have local seafood but we just had a sampler platter which included some cheese, figs, prosciutto, bread and some dip that was good but we never could figure out what it was. It was a nice platter but a bit pricey. The decor is very industrial with the beer kegs but it looks great!

Damon K.

Yelp
Whilst I haven't had a chance to visit the microbrewery yet I did get the chance to sample quite a few of the beers after TEDx Brisbane 2013 and I was thoroughly impressed with the couple that I tried. After just recently returning from living in London it was nice to be able to a full bodied dark ale along with the lager that they were supplying that night. Great tasting beer that I'll be sure to keep an eye out for!

John A.

Yelp
I've been to Green Beacon for both a group function and quiet beers and they never disappoint. Their selection caters for all beer drinkers tastes and the nibbles on offer satisfy. A nice bar in Newstead.

Tasha L.

Yelp
I came here for a friend's birthday shindig - we had a pre-booked table, but I can imagine just rolling up on a normal Saturday afternoon might not get you very far inside, this place gets packed! We had a selection of their catering platters to share between about 12 of us, including the cheese platter and a huge mountain of toasted sandwiches, which were amazing especially as they came right at the point where I was getting that serious melted cheese craving I get from drinking too much beer....just me? The beer is brewed onsite in what I assume are gigantic silver vats just behind the bar. It makes for some pretty interesting stuff to look at as you imbibe, and the waiters were all friendly and allowed me to have tasters of the beers. I love the big open warehouse style, as it helps take away that cramped feeling you get in packed out bars sometimes. I'm not really a Teneriffe regular nor am I likely to become one, but I really enjoyed Green Beacon Brewing and I'd make the effort for other events here in the future.

Chad G.

Yelp
Even though is a small food menu, the food we had was excellent. I am not a huge beer drinker, but the few I tried were great. Will try again.

Mike K.

Yelp
This is probably my favorite brewery that I tried while in Australia. It has a really cool vibe, reminded me a lot of some of the breweries in San Diego. The beers were great and they had a really cool mural on the wall to help newbies decide which beer to try.

Paul W.

Yelp
One of the many new micro breweries recently opened in the areas. Great selection of beers with a warehouse like atmosphere. Well worth a visit if your int he area. My only complaint is with the warehouse interior means these is no A/C and in summer it can get very hot!

Beata K.

Yelp
Must-visit place for every fan of top quality house-brewed craft beer and cider! Green Beacon also serves delicious finger food including fresh seafood. On a regular basis you can meet foodtrucks there, serving yummy food as well! And it's beautifully located on a quiet street in Teneriffe in a post-industrial building, which I really love!

Greg G.

Yelp
I watched this brewery being formed last year while getting my Campos coffee next door and always thought I'd like to try it out. Finally made it last Friday with a few people from work and it was well worth the wait. They brew about 7 beers ranging from ales, wheat beer to porter. I think I tried five of them and all were very tasty and reasonably priced ($7 for small, $9 large). Standouts for me were the wheat beer and porter, but it obviously depends on your taste. Only downside for me was didn't seem to be relevant snack food for a cool Brisbane night. Other than that it was well worth the visit and I'll definitely be going back in the near future.

Glenn T.

Yelp
If you like good beer this is a must and the special release beers keep me coming back to try the fantastic brews. Who knew beer could be this good. Combine this with good simple food congratulations.

Allison D.

Yelp
Great Brewery. The staff are always friendly and beer cold and food compliments the beer. The growlers with your choice of beer is a great boy gift for Christmas.
