We had a solid experience at Green Iguana Bar and Grill. The food was very good and definitely the highlight of the visit—well prepared and satisfying. The atmosphere felt like a typical neighborhood dive bar, but a notch above the usual, making it a comfortable and relaxed place to hang out. Service, however, was only okay. Our server disappeared for a noticeable stretch of time, and while we were waiting, another couple came in, waited quite a while to be seated, and eventually left without being helped. That was unfortunate to see and took away a bit from the overall experience. On the positive side, we really enjoyed the happy hour draft beers, which were a great value. With more consistent service, this place could easily be a go-to spot.

An Unforgettable Night at Green Iguana Tampa! From the moment I walked into Green Iguana, I knew I was in for a great time — and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming, the kind of place that instantly lifts your mood. Katie Jo was our server and let me just say, she was absolutely AMAZING! Friendly, attentive, and full of good vibes! she made our night even more special. With a little approval from “Mom” (who is also awesome and clearly helps keep the fun going), Katie Jo was even able to take a celebratory shot with us, which just added to the great energy of the night. We played music bingo, which took the experience to a whole other level — the music was a perfect mix of today’s hits and timeless classics, keeping everyone engaged and vibing all night long. Green Iguana just gained a new regular — I’ll definitely be returning often. If you’re looking for great service, good music, and an all-around good time in Tampa, this is the spot!

I love this restaurant! The food was delicious and the vibe was great, but my server Jacob was the best service I have had in a while or ever had here. He was so friendly and recommended great food options. He made the experience a fun time beyond just having a meal. Will be back!

We’ve been coming here for more than 25 years! The seafood is really fresh, solid beer list and live music in an elevated dive bar kinda place, what more can you want? Last time there, we had Tabatha as our server and she was fantastic. We’ll continue to come here as a great local option.

We live in St. Petersburg and whenever we head over to Tampa we make it a point to stop at Green Iguana on Westshore. The location is great, easy to find, and the vibe is relaxed but full of energy with live music and outdoor seating. The food consistently hits with great burgers, tacos, seafood, and salads, and we’ve always had a good meal. The service is friendly and welcoming, making you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time. Cool little place had lunch there. The tap beer was ice cold and the French fries were the best I ever had. I also had the buffalo chicken wrap pretty good. Bartender was right on point.

Haven't been to the Green Iguana in months, but wanted a burger and decided to stop by. Sat at the bar, the girl behind the bar recommended the smash burger with fries and a side of Mac. I was not disappointed! Burger was tasty, fries and mac were delicious! Everyone was friendly and welcoming. The bar was clean and had a nice vibe to it, very beachy. I'll be back for another burger soon.

Green Iguana is one of those bars I'd go to any night of the week. The vibe is laid-back and beachy--very Key West. The outdoor bar is my favorite spot, especially with the swings, and the inside has pool, darts, and live music most nights. Lately I've been into Bingo Wednesdays at 8:30--super fun and always a good crowd. The food is way better than you'd expect for a bar. The fajita bowl is my go-to, and the nachos are a perfect snack. Only thing I'd ask for is High Noons on the drink list, but I'll take a Surfside or Nutrl in the meantime.

great ambiance and great appetizers, not so many vegan options but enough dishes can be made vegetarian for most to have a good time. plus very affordable cocktails. dogs are allowed on patio

Green Iguana has been our favorite neighborhood spot to grab a drink, have dinner, and enjoy live music with friends. The service is fast and friendly. Indonesian they'd put the Mojo Pork Sliders back on the menu, but the smash burger definitely doesn't disappoint.

Bartender Steve! He is amazing- I am a tricky person to please with drinks and he found something I would enjoy. The food looked amazing we did not eat but the burgers look 10/10 parking is fantastic and the live music is the same! I think this is the new local spot

On Tuesday night, I experienced of the worst and most regrettable visits to date... The female barmaid was a racist, rude, vulgar piece of low craftsmanship, in my opinion. She chose to exhibit a level of disrespect that exceeded the essence of crudeness. She informed me that I would need to pay for my eat-in service order prior to receiving service. I was required to pay for my food before she would be able to submit the order. This seemed odd. When I asked to cancel the food order, she decided to go on an extended break before my charge was voided. Nasty, Ugly, Negative behavior from beginning to end. The usual bar tender is far more classy. This experience definitely left a bad taste in my mouth. Be prepared for anything when attending this establishment...

Went here for lunch with friends. The spot is great and the inside decor is great. We decided to sit in the shaded open air bar area so my friends dog could join us. Great atmosphere. The customer service was great. Our waitress was so kind and great to talk to. The food was very good. I ordered me a steak fajita bowl and it was large, full of flavor, and well worth it. Really enjoyed the flavor of the steak, and the portion size. I would gladly come back here next time I visit from California.

There's not another restaurant in Tampa Bay that meets the criteria of a good hide out. This one checks all the boxes. Location, atmosphere, and service are all top notch. To top that, their Buffalo Chicken wrap has to be one of, if not the best wraps in the Tampa Bay Area. Check this place out. Phenomenal NFL lounging, incredible Happy Hour deals and a whole lotta good vibes.

Fun find while in town for a wedding. After all the dressy stuff we wanted something with a laid back vibe and hopefully some live music. This place delivered! We enjoyed queso and chips and some fried pickles to start. Very satisfying. Everyone at our table ordered something different and there were zero complaints. The staff was friendly and attentive without being over bearing. Music 7 days a week! Good food! Fun vibe! Wish we lived closer to go again!

I enjoy this bar usually in the late evening. The drinks are good and the atmosphere is usually lively, but I've found during my last visit that the female bartender was quite unfriendly. We all have bad days, but it does put a damper on the evening when your bartender clearly doesn't want to be there. Will give them another shot and sit in the male bartenders section as he was very kind.

Great spot for groups & good vibes! We came to The Green Iguana with a pretty large group and were honestly expecting some chaos trying to get seated--but the staff was super accommodating and welcoming from the jump. Not only did they help us get settled with drinks quickly, but they even offered to take a group photo for us (and nailed it, might I add). The service was friendly and on point the whole time. Everyone was having a blast, and the atmosphere was fun without being over-the-top. Definitely a solid spot if you're looking for a casual place with good energy and great staff. Would absolutely come back next time we're in the area!

Our family randomly selected Green Iguana to try something new and it did not disappoint. We walked in and sat ourselves. The staff was friendly. The music was on point. However, they did take a long time to get us the menu and then the food felt like it took extra long to come out... When it did ... Wow!!! It was so good! No regrets and we are looking forward to going back again very soon.

We stopped here because we just made it to Florida, and was extremely hungry. We waited to be seated and greeted, but no one said anything. We then walked in the bar area to ask if we can sit ourselves. The guy at the bar said that was fine. We sat at the pretty patio are. Mind you, there was only like 4-5 other ppl on the patio. The waitress finally came. She stated the area we sat in was reserved for a party in about 1 hrs and 30 mins. So we decided to just go ahead and move. She took our orders, but wasn't really welcoming as she was to other patrons. I'm guessing they were regulars. The food eventually came out after waiting awhile. Everything was good. I only had an issue with the gator bites, was disappointed to say the least. I don't even think the meat was gator lol. Overall, the place was pretty and the food was good. Service could be a little better for people traveling in town.

I'm pretty sure the staff is trained to walk as fast as possible through the restaurant and never make any eye contact with the guests. The service here is so bad I just quit trying.

Small place but we sat outside. Live music was playing indoors so they cut out the outdoor music to hear better. The outside bar had cute swings. Server came quickly and so did the food and drinks, which is nice. Grab some appetizers- mojo sliders, gator bites and fish spread. Nothing was disappointing. For a late snack and drink it was great.

I've only known this place as a dive bar, but it really exceeded my expectations the last time I went. There's not too many other restaurants nearby, but I really hope they continue to build up that area. The food was absolutely delicious and so cheap! I was shocked. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. I got the pulled pork tacos for $10! The service was friendly and pretty quick. The ambiance is a chill, outdoor & indoor bar area, and they sometimes have live music. This place is definitely underrated. I recommend supporting them and stopping by soon!

The Green Iguana has been around for decades. It is a neighborhood bar and grill. My local friend wanted to take me to her old favorite. The outdoor patio was great and they have live music! The food was good but not excellent. We came with three friends to order apps and a couple of HH drinks. We were disappointed when our bill had charges that weren't articulated as we ordered. If you order a vodka cranberry they should charge you for house unless you indicate a specific brand. Also, up charging for drinks isn't customer friendly. The manager came over and her tone was off putting about us questioning a few charges. We will HH somewhere else in the future.

Live music on a Friday till 2 AM? That ain't it. Throw on a DJ with a Top 100 mix and watch the place fill up. Band didn't suck but just not for the night.

One of our favorite spots. Great atmosphere, great people, great food. Disappointed that they removed our favorite appetizer, Angry Shrimp. Had the Mahi tacos today, delicious.

Katie hilby is the best server ever. Shes so funny and fast and always accommodates! The food here is great and fast! The atmosphere is loud and fun!

The service was great, our server Madison was very attentive. We had the conch fritters for an appetizer and it was very tasty, unlike most places have mostly breading. The ambiance was pretty cool. They had live music and lots of cool sports to watch on the tvs.

this review is for Rick the owner. i Used to frequent this establishment prepandemic since then the quality of food has deteriorated as well as the service. there are one or two attentive waitresses/bartenders who are great but the majority lack experience .Case in point and Ive included the receipt- went there for a quick beer and paid cash with a 10 dollar bill for a total of 5.86 cents of which i received as 4.00 in change i asked the bartender wheres the rest of my change and she replied we round it off to the nearest. dollar.now its not the amount. its the principle. i don't find that acceptable no where was it written on the menu nor receipt..anyways not a good practice .you have lost me as a customer. also on another note there is a group of dealers pushing their wares in the evening there is a lot of drug sales with 4 or 5 dealers...take care. go brush your hair i wont be back

Food is good!! I had a fish sandwich and fries , I also have had several of their appetizers. They were great!! The service staff are very friendly . I love their entertainment, a great dj also pool tables are always a plus!!!

For years, I've driven past Green Iguana on Westshore but thought it was a dive bar. Thanks to a homeowners association meeting at Green Iguana, I made my first visit and was not disappointed! Parking was plentiful, the outdoor dining area is such a fun space! The thatched palm frond roofing and dark wood tables made me feel like I was in a tropical paradise. The faux iguanas on the beams added a festive touch to the dining area. There are two swings at the end of the bar which were a hit with the teens. Service was a bit slow as I never got refills on my water and the orders from the bar took lots longer than typical. We ordered every appetizer on the menu as well as boneless wings. Everything we tasted was delish! The coconut shrimp and wings were the crowd favorite. Music Bingo started about 7pm and was fun! There's no cost to play and the prizes were $20 and $30 Green Iguana gift cards. Although we did not win, it was fun to play along with the others in the bar.

HORRIBLE SERVICE!!!! Food was not great!! This place is a bar, so I'm sure the wait staff only caters to those who are drinking alcohol. Highly disappointed since this place is close to our home. It's a cute idea and the inside is cute. Not worth the hassle of getting my own silverware and napkins and never receiving a refill on our tea. Waitress with pink hair blatantly ignored us and our section. We weren't the only ones being ignored. Two other tables were not getting waited on in our section as well. BEWARE!!!!

Tried this place out for the first time with my coworkers. It was a Wednesday lunch and the place wasn't very busy. You can tell Green Iguana has been there for a long time and inside has a typical bar feel. There's an outdoor bar and dining area too that's covered with fans going. Even on a very hot day, it was fairly comfortable there! But we sat inside at the very back since we were a larger group. Our waitress was helpful and friendly. I splurged and had a beer since I saw they carry Mango Cart. For my meal, I tried the Bourbon Bacon Jam Burger, and wow, I did not expect it to be that good! Even the fries were quality. Yes, I would definitely come back here, and so glad I got to try it out with my team.

Of you come to the beach and you dont get some empanadas here, I think you are missing out big time! They are cheap and delicious! Such a chill spot with good vibes its hard not to spend a little time hanging out here! All the locos know that so Im writing this for the adventurous gringo!

So, I always try to be fair. see my prior review about their Smashburger and chicken pasta I had one Sunday. went back, must've been a different cook or chef this time. I had their wings with the sweet spicy sauce. They were amazing. I'm not sure if they trim off some of the skin or how they do it but there's no thick disgusting skin on there. Cooked perfectly, sauced perfectly. The chicken pasta dish came out like it should. Good amount of chicken and it was cut up.

Came in on a Tuesday night for dinner. We sat ourselves outside on the covered tiki patio. There was a dj playing music, lots of TVs and a bar outside. Waitress was fast to come over and greet us and hand us menus. They have happy hour drink specials until 7 and every Tuesday they have Trivia night or bingo where you have the opportunity to win gift cards to the restaurant & its free to play! We started with the crab Rangoon appetizer and it was hot, crunchy and delicious with the accompanying sauce. We shared an order of Buffalo Mac and cheese ... very large portions! I had the Tampa bowl for my entree and all the ingredients were fresh from the lettuce bed, pico, avocado and fresh cilantro.

This review is for delivery. I've ordered takeout from Green Iguana twice. The first time was years ago, and I really enjoyed the experience. I got the spinach artichoke dip, the blackened wings, and the skillet cookie. Everything was great! However, last night, I ordered their traditional wings. I was intrigued by the option of Jamaican Jerk sauce for the wings, so I went with that. I was disappointed. The wings were soggy, and the sauce was sweet, not spicy. We were starving, so we ate everything, but they were some of the worst wings we've had in a long while. The wings were warm when they arrived, so I believe they were freshly prepared, so maybe they put the wings into cold oil? They don't bread the wings (which is a good thing, in my opinion), but you should still get crispy skin if you know how to fry the wings properly. I might return because the other food I've ordered here has been great. But I won't be ordering their traditional wings again.

Service from the bar staff is not attentive, and they seem to prefer waiting on their friends and/or they don't want to really be there. It is jot always quick if they do not know you. The karaoke KJ is friendly and welcoming when you first arrive or interact with him, but the show needs improvement in having fair rotations or clear expectations on when your turn to sing is. There is no singer queue displayed resulting in the KJ picking and choosing who is singing. The rotation order often does not seem sensible when you are waiting a very long time and others are not and are singing several times either solo or in groups before you even have your next turn.He controls the mic as to whether or not your voice comes through loudly and clearly vs the voices that are part of the song from the karaoke program dominating instead which is not a great singing experience at all. He evades answering questions or feedback when you do ask about any of this.

Obviously a local favorite, but the food was awful. They have great drink specials and happy hours, but everything I got to eat was pretty mediocre, even at a $15 price point for a fried appetizer. Would probably come back later in the evening to hang out for a drink or play pool, but not for a meal.

Stopped by after work and was not expecting one of the best burgers I've ever had! The capri salad was incredible too. Fast and friendly service and totally worth the price. It had a cute theme! will definitely be coming back !!

Tonight my wife and I went to enjoy football only to be constantly verbally and physically accosted by another patron who kept cursing, touching us without permission, and pulling his chair at the bar closer to us even as we pulled ours further away from him. I twice asked the bartender, whose name I believe was Robbie, to get this person away from us and all he would do is ask the guy, who was acting very drunk, to stop touching us! Incredible! We've been coming to the Green for years but WILL NEVER GO BACK AGAIN! There didn't appear to be a manager around and the bartender knew this drunk by first name. (Chris I believe was the drunks(?) name.) If you like being accosted by other patrons and have the bartender's not deal properly with drunks(?) when you go to a sports restaurant/bar to enjoy some sports and food, then the Green Iguana is for you. It will no longer get our business!

What are you guys doing .... The girl here today legit put my water in front of an empty seat after waiting for 25 mins .... Wtf is that after 25 min you can't cover your bar ... I get a drink then you serve an empty seat next to me.... Be better now she's gone again. Mind you there's only 4 people here...... was my favorite place years ago..... omg this is next on the chopping block after the others are gone ... it's a shame...

Fun fun place! Bras hanging from the ceiling and all! They have two swings at the bar that is a great photo and fun spot to sit on at the bar! Pot stickers are amazing and happy hour deals are even better!

A casual place that has live music. The food is decent. I had a situation at the bar with a drunk patron. At first I didn't realize he was drunk I just thought he was an a******. The bartender stepped in like a champ. I greatly appreciate that he saw an uncomfortable situation and corrected it right away. This person arrived as a mean drunk and quickly the bartender let him know he was not getting a drink and needed to leave. Thank you!

Last spring I ordered their salad entre but asked them to substitute shrimp in lieu of chicken. They did, but added $11 to the cost without advising me first. Won't be going back anytime soon.

Quite possibly the worst place I've been to in South Tampa! All the food is heavily Fried, you may as well get hooked up to Cardiac Machine! The servers are inattentive, and the food upon ordering took 45 min and came out dry and cold clearly it sat in window! When I asked the bartender had attitude. When I told her it was unacceptable she argued with me and I pointed out how long it took! She still charged me which is appalling in itself! I paid, did not tip, and left! Def stay away from this Shit show!

Fun, quaint bar. Came here just for some drinks and catch up with some friends. We spent our time in their "back" bar/area, and they have some tables, a small back bar that the bartender checked in on us frequently...even though we weren't sure if she'd be too busy in the front main bar for us, so thanks! We had a blast playing darts for a couple hours! And everyone was very friendly and patient that we were playing by one of the hallways--customers and servers (: We will definitely be back!

I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this place. The food: INCREDIBLE, the vibes: perfect and service was great. I guess their known for their burgers, fish and wings, and the grouper sandwich is amazing!!! I love this place and 100% will be back. Our server Kristina was awesome, she's so sweet, attentive and just over all perfect. If you're in tampa, this is the place to go.

A great hole in the wall bar. Service was great. Just had a couple apps. But loved it.

Excellent food. The grilled grouper was excellent! The Angry Srimp were cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious. The only thing I wish they had done differently was to sear the brussel sprouts, as they are traditionally served. They were a little on the soggy side. Everything else was perfect.
