Best Gay Bars in Washington, D.C. According to Eater Editors | Eater DC

"This somewhat hidden, two-story bar and nightclub is located down two alleyways just off Thomas Circle. Thursdays (10 p.m. to 11 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.) are Green Lantern’s sometimes imitated, but never duplicated, shirtless-patrons-drink-free times. The bar hosts additional events like underwear parties, Rough Houses, and Bear Caves." - Evan Caplan

The Green lantern is always a fun place to go and hang out. It's always crowded and it's always a good looking crowd. We were here during pride weekend and it was jam-packed.

Stopped in for a quick drink on my way out of the city. Won't be coming back under any circumstances. The place is gross. The bar hadn't been wiped down and there were 2 bugs crawling near the beer taps the entire time I was there. Then I encountered the rudest bartender I've ever met. He was having issues with a coworker and apparently decided to take his frustrations out on his bar guests. The entire time, he made very patronizing and passive aggressive comments toward me. Apparently he was upset he had to ask people for their IDs for some reason. I would have laughed it off, but he was so sour it really made me feel unwelcome. I told him I liked the beer and asked if he had a specific vodka. He said "you mean the one that's right in front of you?". I have terrible eyesight, so I couldn't read the labels from where I was sitting. My attempts to build any rapport with this man apparently failed because I sat with an empty glass for around 5 mins after both drinks. It was Monday afternoon, so it wasn't busy... At all. I went to the bathroom and came back to sit with my empty glass for another few minutes. Eventually, I got bored and asked a bar back to check out as the bartender was busy talking with the DJ. I get that everyone has bad days, but it really seemed like this guy was trying to make sure everyone there was having one as bad as his. I still tipped him, but wow. I have never encountered someone like that before.

Here on vacation with my husband. Went 2 days ago and enjoyed it but the dance part was closed. Decided to go tonight on my last night here in DC. Had a very bad experience. Bartender at the dance part was very rude. Touched me and wanted me to move away from the bar but others in the club that was at the bar that was around the bar he did not say a word. Very prejudice place. Seems like locals get treated better and outsiders get shit on. I have been to many gay bars and I can tell you they need to look at the whole operation and not hire people to work there and treat customers badly. Spent $40 + and to have been badly treated is BS. I would not recommend this bar. Needs to be shut down permanently.

Google
I always have a fun time at Green Lantern. The downstairs bar is very relaxed with friendly bartenders and even a popcorn machine. The upstairs bar and dance floor are often full of fun people. Leather nights are very fun to attend. I just love all the “doggie” masks. Check it out at least once.

Google
Used to enjoy coming here more, too. Some patrons end up beyond over-served, and yet one can be sitting at the bar with an empty drink for a good 10 minutes on a slow night while the bartenders do anything other than tending to customers. Fine place to go if you don’t mind over-served persons or waiting a while for drinks.

Google
Came here for WorldPride and Mario is the worst bartender I’ve ever met in my life. He has zero customer service skills and desperately needs a different job. I was not the only one that shared this sentiment there either n

Google

Nick

Google
Truly the only gay dive in DC where you can actually come alone, sit down, and have a conversation with anyone and it not be awkward. Also love that it’s a very body positive space.

Yelp
I've stopped by the Green Lantern a couple of times during the late afternoon, so the vibe was really chill ... compared to what I have heard about the late-night vibe. On both occasions, there were about 5-7 people in the lower bar, and those folks seemed to be regulars. The bartenders were pretty chill and did not have a pretentious attitude, which you can find in some LGBT bars. While the bartenders seemed to be chatty with the regulars, I did not feel like I was being ignored. The drink prices seemed to be reasonable compared to other LGBT places in the city. I'm not sure if the drink prices were a bit lower because I visited during happy hour, but I'm not complaining. ;) The bar gives off a very old school 70/80/90 gay bar vibe. I think the bar's location also contributes to the old school (intriguing and sketchy) vibe because the Green Lantern is secluded in an ally. Even on a sunny day (my first visit), I was like dang this ally is kind of dark. I would imagine that it provides an interesting experience at night or during the early morning. Perhaps, in the near future, I'll have an opportunity to give a comprehensive review after visiting on a weekend night.

Yelp
Some of the most spectacular BS I have ever been served: Last Sunday a bartender, Hugo (who guilted me into treating him close to the same manner I treat the one person there I TRULY love) mistook an accident for me grabbing his ass. Tonight I explained that it was not what he thought but his response reminded me that we are not truly friends because my friends would have not reacted like that. Reminding him that I had never touched him like that in the past. His response was to chase me from behind the bar to tell me that if I ever touched him again we could "take it outside". I told him that I was just telling the truth but if he wanted to threaten people I would let the manager know. He pushes past me as he tells me he will let the manager know that I touched him. We meet the manager, go into the office, where he extolls on how a customer touched him. I explained it was an accident that told me a lot but did not warrant threats of physical violence the manager sticks with "this sounds like a 'he said she said' we do not touch people unless they are okay with it" (threatening to look at tapes which I advised he should), like I did not just explain that I want this person in NO way, it was an accident, and upon explanation of that fact Hugo's response was to threaten me with violence. I have been going to that bar for 20+ years. I cannot count on EVERYONE's hands how many times I have been touched inappropriately without being asked and had to explain. What I CAN count is how many times it ended up with me threatening violence.....NONE! But that is "he said she said"....right?

Yelp
Fun place for those that love a Latin boy flare String drinks and upstairs dancing with clothes almost optional If that is your flavor, GO, have fun. I loved the bartenders. They were very welcoming to me and I never felt anything but welcomed as a masc/female.

Yelp
Good theme nights. Good drinks. Fun regulars. Reliable service. A good gay bar experience.

Yelp
The website says shirtless men drink for free on June 10th. But when I asked the bartender what kind of free drinks I could get, the bartender shouted rudely, "nothing is free"! I showed him what was on Green Lantern's official website with my phone. He said he didn't care. Again, very rude. Seeing that I wouldn't leave the bar, the bartender asked me to talk to "Howard". The manager, perhaps? Howard impatiently said there was an "error" on their website. Howard acted like it was my problem, not their mismanagement and incompetency. I would be less angry if they were apologetic and explained nicely. Instead I was treated badly with an attitude. Horrible business. Will never spend a dime at Green Lantern. No one should.

Jonny A.

Yelp
When I'm in the mood for straight T&A videos, this is the gay bar I choose. Plus they run the air conditioner in March. And the rails for the stairs are on upside-down.

Yelp
Stumbled in here on a random night for some karaoke. Tucked away in a back alley, Green Lantern feels like a secret queer speakeasy. It's definitely a local, no frills spot full of regulars. You could tell who comes here every week specifically for karaoke judging by the interesting song choices and the occasional surprisingly talented singer. A few of my friends put their names down to sing and were called up in about 30 minutes. I feel like some karaoke spots are so overrun that you get too tired by the time your name is called hours later. But Green Lantern wasn't too packed and therefore the wait to sing wasn't egregiously long. The drinks are cheap and the staff is respectful. What more could you want from a hole in the wall?

Yelp
Cute place...they've put some money into it. Service fuc*ing sucks if you aren't with a group. 14 people in the bar, 20 mins to be acknowledged. Diagonal alley feel, Decent pours, was super friendly when the bartender got to me.

Diego D.

Yelp
Bravo bravo bravo @ kudos to the amazing, accommodating, overworked and understaffed crew here!!!! Writing this after seeing the mess of drinks having to be escorted basically to the alley way after not being able to handle open bar twice in one night. And these kweens weren't on there 21's & ups these kweens were at least 37 + and 34! It's embarrassing to be these messy at your age!!!! Handle yourself accordingly or find friends to pick your comma like bodies off the rat pissed allies of Green Street! The staff here were extra extra extra extra and I mean extra friendly helpful and accommodating to these drunks even after the bar had closed to a point where they were like --- even is enough it's 16 minutes passed closing and we need to lock our doors! For me to even type this sh@t waiting for an Uber is epic! Love this bar/club! It's diverse as fuck, the staff want to be here, the bartenders low key could use another bar back but these place is really a handbook to how gay bars should be run! Again; Green Latern staff -/- Howard and the handsome black security guards there & the white one lol YOU ALL WERE ALL PROFESSIONAL!!! Pin this comment! If you post a negative review you're a hater and need to be deported back to Montana lol

Yelp
Wow! This is everything I hope for in a gay bar! Came out on a Thursday night and found a crazy hot crowd and a PACKED dance floor. Drinks were cheap and strong! Can't wait to come back and get my dance on!

J Z.

Yelp
Best gay bar in dc! Very friendly staff. Shirtless nights are always fun. Free drinks and generous pour

Kristine R.

Yelp
Great people and bartenders. It's one of those places where everyone is hanging out together and all have a great time together.

Samuel T.

Yelp
This was the first time my boyfriend and I went to a gay bay or even any bar in general. We were both very nervous not knowing what to expect. We came in around 7:45 which I guess was early but for us being new the slower scene was very nice at first. The bartenders were very kind especially the blonde boy calling us sweetheart. The drinks were very good and the pours were pretty even every time. The men's bathroom on the 2nd floor needs to have the floor fixed as there are holes showing the concrete underneath in the stalls. The bar stools were also a little wobbly. We will definitely be back for LOBO in February and in general.
google avatar

Johnny A.

Yelp
The service SUCKS. Sat there and the bartender never once asked me if I wanted a drink. I was visiting from Denver. I will NOT GO BACK.
google avatar

Yelp
This review is for the Queer Fusion dance classes and socials held every two weeks upstairs. So awesome!!! Really great instructors, friendly community of dancesrs, a nice dance floor, free water, and a restroom. You can park pretty cheaply nearby using Spothero. Such a fun place to go.
google avatar

Yelp
Always having great experience at this bar. Management and the bartenders are awesome and the music is amazing
google avatar

Eduardo H.

Yelp
Came here during Wednesday's karaoke night and although the ally entrance is a bit spooky the bartenders and people were great! We had cheap drinks and even got to sing in front of everyone (despite not having the best singing voice). Will definitely come back!!
google avatar

Clint H.

Yelp
Drink service was prompt and made awesome every time. Barkeepers knew what we were drinking and didn't need to ask every time we were ready for a new one. The club music upstairs permeated down stairs to where we thought it would be a little more laid back and quiet. It's a cool place but maybe not a first date spot where you wanna talk and get to know someone. Definitely will come again. We got our moneys worth. Drinks seemed to be very reasonable for DC.
google avatar

Beau H.

Yelp
It was time to celebrate after covid and I made sure to hit this place up nightly when in DC. from karaoke to full on second floor dance parties there is everyone and everything here to celebrate fully. The bartenders are wonderful and we appreciate the amounts of red wine we consumed while enjoying our times here. Thank you!

Yelp
Was a really great time, staff was friendly, drinks were good. 10/10 would recommend. I would usually go to the green lantern when I go off of work when I worked in DC.

Mckl M.

Yelp
Actually came back and the place was a gem great staff and energy definetly a must to go to in DC

Yelp
I went in here for a bit to check it out but left before I sat down. It was depressing inside. That's the only way to describe it. We left and were not sad about it.

Miguel M.

Yelp
Visited from out of state on a Sunday night. Greeted by an obviously intoxicated bartender (green hair and glasses) who yelled at us for being next to where he takes orders (very hostile). He then played it off as a joke after my partner and I were visibly confused ("sorry I was just joking, wasn't trying to be mean"). Had a beer and left after we noticed he was downing leftover drinks from patrons. I get that this may be a local bar and it seemed like everyone knew each other and didn't care that people were drinking on the job but to each their own I guess.

Yelp
I go to the downstairs bar and "neighborhood" that crowd; the neighborhood feel is up my alley. I know nothing about the parties. Shout out to their most Awesome, Sassy Bartender Craig. *Drink Credit goes to Craig

Yelp
I visited Green Lantern for the first time in August 2021. I took Uber to arrive there and my driver had a difficult time trying to locate the place. The cover charge for that Saturday night was $15.00 cash only. At the door, patrons were offered wrist bands whose colors designated whether one wanted to be physically touched by other patrons with or without permission. I arrived at 9:30PM and was surprised to find the place packed almost to capacity. After all, we are in the middle of a global pandemic. But this was not apparent at all with the present crowd. To Green Lantern's credit, all bartenders and wait staff were wearing masks. The place was dark and very noisy from the blaring music of loud speakers in the main bar area. The over all decor of the main bar area looked a bit run down and in need of a makeover. This over all impression was confirmed when I went to use the restroom which was very dark, poorly lit, and tainted with an unsanitary odor. Green Lantern has all the earmarks of a dive. It was evident that customer service is not part of Green Lantern's management plan to win patrons. Gregory C.

Yelp
I. Just. Can't. Seriously, In Spokane, WA there is nothing like this at all. I found myself uncomfortable in so many ways that it is almost unacceptable. The area itself is not great. It is down a dark alley which in my whole, I am here by myself (with friends but very much responsible for my own person) vibe it was not cool to feel vulnerable. Honestly, in Spokane our gay bars make women feel more safe, in my opinion and that is all it is...my opinion. I am not sure if it is because our "gay bars" hold a completely different standard but this place disgusted me to a whole other level. I am on a completely different realm with this place and here is why. I support all my gay friends and love the vibe that the community gives off but this place was scary. It was a day where everyone was barely wearing clothes and wearing BDM type outfits and constantly guys - who I find out later were straight, were trying to take my clothes off. Telling me "it's fine everyone is naked in here." Our bartender thought he was sassy but he was just a really entitled flamboyant guy who put his hand up to shush us and wouldn't even look anyone in the eyes. I had to completely be mindful of the people here because it was gross. There were guys doing very, very inappropriate things on the dance floor and the porn on the TVs was really really bad for me. No thanks. The hired dancers were not okay either, I was dancing against a brick wall for my own comfort when I was rolled around on the dance floor by a guy who of course I thought was gay. Being a married woman I am all good with dancing with gay guys, it's like friendship nature to me. But it got uncomfortable when he started reaching up my dress and then whispering that he was a hired dancer that liked women. Not my cup of tea at all. Very pushy and not in a good wayl Why not hire gay guys as your dancers? Also the bouncer kicked me off the dance platform saying "no one wants to see that," when isn't inclusivity what we are all about? When a place has you leaving feeling violated it is just not an okay thing. The service was whack, the cover charge was unacceptable, and the whole violation thing as well as people literally being in their thongs and actually doing really awful things to each other on the dance floor....I will not be back.

Yelp
This past week I made a trip to Washington DC and Decided that I would check out the local nightlife. I ended up in this gay bar that was pretty hard to find. When you are walking to the Green Lantern you have to go down an alley way to get there. I was shocked by this, and kind nervous as I did not know where I was going to what I was doing. After arriving inside they asked for my ID and made sure I was 21+ and I went inside. When I walked in I did not feel great inside and it was just a bad environment. I went up to the bar to order a drink. I asked the bar tender (who was a complete ass hole) if they had White Claw. He looked at me and said he have never heard of White Claw and the answer was no. I asked about Seltzer and Vodka and you could tell he was very very annoyed by the questions so I just got a bud light. He was wearing a hat that said Top, which I could only think it stood for "Top Jerk!" he was the rudest bar tender I ever had. While I was waiting for friends to arrive, thankfully I overheard someone say they were from Orlando and I started to talk with them. We talked about how this bar was like nothing at home. I ended up making my way to the second floor of this club. They charged $10 to get into this floor and a dance party was going on with guys in their underwear. They had a few gogo boys dancing which I found out later were all straight guys... The vibe the dance floor was not much fun. There were guys doing some very inappropriate stuff in here and it was not a fun atmosphere to be in. Thankfully we did not stay very long and I took pictures of my receipts. I would never go back to this bar if someone would pay me. Tips for the business: Find Nice Bartenders who actually care about people. Hire Gay people to work at a Gay Bar. Don't let people basically have sex on your dance floor. Have a sign that points people to your location.

Yelp
Update: Ouch! Looks like Matt responded. Actually, you looked up at me and then around the bar at people who were holding cash, then back at me and yelled at me "I'm going to help other people that are actually tipping me" and walked off to help others. Later when I closed my tab out and didn't give you a tip for your shitty attitude and refusal to grab me a drink when it was my turn, you yelled at me to "get the fuck out". I think Matt's response speaks for itself as to the level of customer service here, or lack thereof. Unfortunately the bartender "Matt" had extremely poor comments for me based on an experience at their free open bar on Thursday nights. Evidently if you don't have cash on hand to tip on the spot (even if you open a tab after the free open bar times), you're going to be told to "get the fuck out".
google avatar

Miguel V.

Yelp
Used to go there before the pandemic, it was always a nice place. Now that things are opening up, I'll try them out again for a theme night. Worth supporting our local community.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
Green Lantern is a gay bar that is known to be popular for its Shirtless Thursdays, where people get free drinks if they lose their tops. I didn't expect that this place was also a destination for gay karaoke. Though there is another floor, the top dance floor was closed. The space is intensely crowded, but you could still carry on a conversation with another, unlike in other bars. This space primarily draws in the above 30 age group, from what I saw. This negative review is due to my experience of being molested by a short latino guy creepily jacking off in a small cutout by the urinals. I know I can't fully place responsibility on Green Lantern, but I never even feared that this type of thing could happen at any of the other bars or clubs in the area.

Yelp
Great drinks it was in the middle of the pandemic right before phase 3 there was outside seating
google avatar

Jeffrey R.

Yelp
Super friendly and attentive staff! Good (and strong) drinks! Good music! Will definitely go again the next time I'm visiting DC!
google avatar

Charlie W.

Yelp
So as a "tourist" i didn't find the bartender downstairs very welcoming. The drinks were ok but nothing special.
google avatar

Aaron S.

Yelp
I stopped in on my last night in DC and had a great time. The staff and patrons were incredibly friendly, and the prices were more than fair! On the night I went, there was open mic karaoke and everyone was having a fantastic time! I would definitely visit again next time I visit
google avatar

Moses D.

Yelp
Good bar near hotels and White House. Could use better, more up to date music. Great price will come back. Crowd 50's plus.

Kyle P.

Yelp
The bartenders are nice and the drinks are reasonably priced but we went for karaoke and while the KJ pretends to be friendly he only selects his friends to sing. I turned in one song and waited over an hour and never got to sing while his friends sang over and over again. I won't be back since there are more convenient and more reasonably priced and friendlier bars in town.

Wes N.

Yelp
I'm being generous giving this place two stars instead of one, because if what happened tonight didn't, maybe I could've enjoyed it better. The music wasn't anything to write home about but anything sounds good after booze. Being pride month, I didn't expect to be harassed or have my friends felt like shit, but here we are! When we went upstairs there was no current cover but toward an hour in some guy set up shop and demanded a cover from us when we came back to the bathroom. A friend of mine said he had gotten in earlier and literally just went to the bathroom down the hall. The proper thing to do is to stamp people but I guess what this guy did was more "appropriate" -- ask my friend to show him his dick instead of the cover Mind you, this isn't a random bar attendee, this is someone who WORKS HERE and is probably over 50, and the professionalism that he should have had? Out the window. It was absolutely inappropriate to ask my friend to strip to show him his genitals to gain re-entry and no, he wasn't joking -- he got irate when my friend obviously wouldn't. The bartenders were also not extremely friendly either but at that point I didn't care. Won't be returning back after that.

Yelp
Huge fan of this place. The bar is down a (well-lit) alley. I love that! It makes me feel just a bit naughty, which I wish I felt walking into every queer bar. It definitely has its regulars; there's one guy who has been there every single time I've gone. I love that. Each night has a very different vibe. Sunday night karaoke turns out the Broadway queens and the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington. Those boys can sing! Monday night karaoke, Singing with the Sisters, is a blast. The D.C. Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence really know how to be gracious and fun hostess. Plus it's a fundraiser; the Sisters raise money for charities each week. Sister Allie is simply amazing! (Full disclosure: She paid me to say that.) Tuesday and Wednesday are quieter nights, chill crowd. Thursday's shirtless drinking draws a huge, fairly diverse crowd. Loads of fun. Don't forget to tip your bartenders, though. Fridays and Saturdays often have themed parties, which draw different groups, especially otters and bears and pigs. Oh, my. I've been going to the Green Lantern for years, but only recently have I made it my go-to bar. D.C. has a reputation for a being an uptight town. I think that's largely blown out of proportion because of bars like Green Lantern. Low key, unpretentious, and fun crowds.
google avatar

Andrii P.

Yelp
As a person from NYC was really surprised with price of martini. If you read my comments you already realized that is my favorite drink. It's only 5$ here. So only for this you have to visit this bar. Even this is a happy hours. By the way on Wednesday it's for a whole night! The interior is very pretty and modern. Nice music and suspicious staff who checked my ID ))) They really made my evening in Washington!
google avatar

David W.

Yelp
Wouldn't let me in with a bag (it was a waist pack). How are you not going to have a coat/bag check? Of course there are going to be people with bags, especially tourists checking out the gay bars in a touristy city. I've never ever been turned away from a bar/club for having a bag before. Ridiculous. Get a coat/bag check. Inspect people's bags upon entering. Other places have done the same during pride weekends. Gay bars were created to be safe spaces. If you start turning people away due to fear of terrorism, you're doing it wrong.
google avatar

Yelp
My fiancé and I visit the DC area often and this was our first time at the Green Lantern. It can seem confusing to find, especially for an Uber Driver but is tucked away in a very well lit and clean alley. This is a pretty neat place! You basically get two bars in one. As soon as you go in downstairs, there is a square bar that fills most of the room. Something that caught me off guard was how nice the bar top is. If I'm mistaken it was granite and they even have coasters! Very nice! I always enjoy a place that plays music videos to add to the scenery. The second floor features a tradition wall bar as well as a modest sized dance floor with a decent sound system. They do have a coat check in the back of the second floor so don't worry about bringing your coat. The crowd was very mixed but is definitely not the super young gay's club. They seemed to have a mixture of all ages and everyone seemed very comfortable. The drinks were a little higher priced than I was expecting but didn't disappoint. Great location downtown and I'm sure we will be back.
google avatar

Barry M.

Yelp
This is certainly not a gay friendly community bar. I went there tonight and while the server was friendly not even a hello from anyone else. Very unfriendly and unwelcoming - so if you are traveling from away and looking for a friendly place in the LGBTQ community - don't go looking here to feel welcomed. I'm so ashamed of our so called community. I feel more welcomed in a straight bar.
google avatar

Kirkland G.

Yelp
This place was certainly interesting as its location is in an alley. My Uber had a hard time finding it. I will say that the alley is one of the 'nicest' alleys I've been in! Lol yes, this is weird to talk about but it was clean and well lit so it's not like you're entering the underworld. Ok on to the actual review... My partner fell in love with this place, I thought it was average. Downstairs sported a karaoke section which I quickly dismissed since I hate karaoke. Upstairs had a bar, dance floor and a semi sectioned off area. Drinks were cheap. Men were in their jocks and some in harnesses because of Mid Atlantic Leather week. The crowd was mostly older which I have zero issues with and the brain dead Bollywood movies playing on the TVs were curiously entertaining. I don't understand the music though. Why do these bars always go for these bizarre techno mixes? It wasn't bad but I hoped this crowd would appreciate some older tunes. Eh, I'm just a 26 year old man who likes older music so I'm never satisfied with most gay bars. This bar gets huge points for having the cheapest coat check in existence. The attendant even offered to hold our items on one hangar to save money! Overall I wouldn't write it off as it was just an ok experience.

Yelp
This is an awesome little neighborhood gay bar tucked away in an alley. I went twice while visiting DC and had a good time! They were packed with hot shirtless men on a Thursday night from 10-11 you get to drink for free if you take your shirt off!! Who can beat that?! On Sunday they had karaoke and they had some pretty good singers. They also have a dance floor upstairs and a live DJ. Would definitely go back.

Yelp
Hey bartender ..:: don't get mad when people close their tab out after one round... and don't bother singing karaoke cuz the DJ would rather hear himself sing than others... literally said the list was full and in a half hour I had to hear him sing four times... all female songs btw... it was rough to say the least... I have more fun mixing my own drinks and singing with my friends around the fire pit ... don't bother with this place

Yelp
After Omega closed, there wasn't too many other bars I was interested in going to. I had been to GL several times in the past, for a few events upstairs, but I never really gave it the chance it deserved. I was an Omega regular for a little while, even right up until it's last night. Which if you missed it, was awesome! Green Lantern is a great bar. A lot of Omega regulars go there now and those that have already been going there are all very nice people. The drinks are cheap, and that's cool. Two major things about this bar that makes it completely different than any other bar I've been to elsewhere. One, they actually have chargers for your Android/iPhone devices. And two, you can bring your own food into the establishment and eat it right there at the bar. How many bars allow you to bring your own food in and eat it too? The only hang up I have with The Green Lantern, is their trashy bathrooms. They generally stink, stalls are missing doors, toilets missing seats or, even better, some toilets don't work at all and it resembles the ugliness that The Fireplace bathrooms are over off of DuPont Circle, on P St. The bathrooms are so nasty that you're likely to catch an STD just by merely walking into it. That said, the rest of the establishment is great. But they seriously need to upgrade those bathrooms. They've done an awful lot of upgrading over course of many years, but the one thing they don't seem to give two **its about, the bathrooms.

Yelp
It was a 5 until last Saturday 10 March 2018: I've never written a negative review to this degree before but I have never been so disrespected by a bar staff member ...ever really. I really enjoy Green Lantern and all of its events but this needs to be said and action should be taken. I was there with my partner to watch the star search drag show. We approached the bartender, Matt Strother, whom my boyfriend is acquaintances with. They chatted as usual; we got our drinks, and proceeded to watching the show. Then Matt's behavior slowly went from harmless flirting to deliberate and unprofessional conduct. My back was turned to the bar as I watched the show; I turned around to place my finished drink on the bar. It was in that instance that I witnessed Matt pulling his shorts down exposing his backside and smiling at my boyfriend. I pulled my BF aside and asked what that was about and he stated that Matt had previously contacted him on social media to see if he was coming earlier that day. When they got on that topic my bf said that he came to see his friend perform. To which Matt responded, "I know why you really came here" and proceeded to touch himself. I brushed it off; he knew we were there together, so I assumed he was just fooling around. We continued to watch the show and shortly after I felt something looming over my shoulder and I turned my head to look back. There was Matt, on the bar, on his knees, directly behind my boyfriend with his crotch behind his head. I leaned over to my BF and smiled and pointed it out to him we both just laughed. Again, I assumed his behavior was benign in origin. Later on that night I turned around to buy a couple shots for a friend and myself who was celebrating her b-day. Which I charged on my card, and instead of handing me the receipt back to sign it, Matt comes from around the bar and stops the drag show and starts to complain about how he doesn't understand why people don't sign their credit card receipts. He then reads out my full name to the whole bar without ever even handing me the receipt in the first place. I motioned in his direction that it was mine. He goes to hand it to me and I jokingly say "you didn't need to do that" and then his behavior took a violent turn and he caught an attitude. He then reaches around and grabs me by the back of my neck and yells for security "GET HIM OUT OF HERE". I know at this point he has just assaulted me so I push his hand away lean onto the bar top to sign my receipt. Again I yell out "You knew I was here with your friend you didn't need to do that" He screamed in my face "I KNOW HIM, NOT YOU" (pointing at my BF...jealous much?). Now my boyfriend had to step in between us and move him back. And we head for the exit. NEVER to return to this establishment. His behavior violated DC health code regulations: 402 HANDS AND ARMS WHEN TO WASH 402.1 Food employees shall clean their hands and exposed portions of their arms as specified in §401 immediately before working in direct contact with food, clean equipment and utensils, and unwrapped single-service and single-use articles, P and: After touching bare human body parts other than clean hands and clean, exposed portions of arms; Matt can be charged with assault for placing his hands on me. He is not security staff and he has no right to touch any bar patrons. I will be filing a complaint with BBB and the DC Dept. of Health.

Yelp
Cool little jump off spot. It's within walking distance of a bunch of other gay bars and restaurants.

Yelp
Bryan bartender was great last night, but tonight, we ordered two titos and soda from a diff bartender... and i watched other guy with back to us pour, then when I tasted, I knew it WASN'T Titos, and then I asked to show bottle and he went to the other end of bar to show a titos bottle it insisting that he poured it. We know better. Disappointed. Took advantage of us.
