Where to Get the Best Fall Lattes in Philly | Eater Philly

"With locations across the city, Green Line Cafe is a Philadelphia staple serving up an assortment of pastries, coffee, and teas. Here you can upgrade any of its lattes with one of its many specialty syrups. The lavender London fog made with earl grey tea, steamed milk, and lavender syrup may be just what you need to kick back and relax on those frigid autumn nights." - George Banks-Weston

Great space! Don't eat in the subway. Have a good time with good food and far better vibes.

The baristas are very sweet, and the food and coffee are tasty! A good place to people watch and get some work done.

I love having my coffee in this place, it cozy and warm. The service is great, KAT is kind , friendly and welcoming❤️. The coffee is great , I always get lavender latte 💜 and it’s been my favourite. Also, I recommend you order the blueberry lemon muffins they’re yummy😍

Google
I really enjoy this coffee shop. I always get a cafe mocha with peppermint and the barista makes it perfect each time! It is small so if you go right before work can be a little packed and busy. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend!

Google
Nice quiet coffee shop in Center City serving a standard fare of coffee, latte, bagels, croissants and breakfast sandwiches. I usually get the everything bagel here. They have a choice of both dark and medium roast coffees.

Google
very cozy space. Basic counter service. Good coffee but limited baked items(went at ~4PM Sunday). Good place to leisurely have a coffee, open up your laptop. Mostly young people

Great place to work on my laptop for a couple hours, good coffee & tasty almond ginger muffin

I went in this cafe in anticipation of everyone’s review about customer service. The girl at the counter was rather rude and look she don’t care. When i said “have a good day,” she said “yup”. No smile, no efforts. Shouldnt have tipped her. Also, service was rather slow. If you are on the morning run, this aint your coffee shop. Espresso was rather too acidic tasted not calibrated. Sandwiches are pre-made. Bagles are rough to chew. I won’t spend 20$ US for those effortless coffee and sandwiches. Addendum: got completely wrong order when i checked at my hotel. Can you tell how much she cares?

Yelp
Solid customer service, good cup of coffee, conveniently located next to my hotel. It's a small spot, tucked away in the lobby of an office building. Blink and you may miss it kind of spot. What's not to like? Best coffee I've ever had? No. But very good otherwise.

Yelp
I love green line cafe!! Love their west philly location, this is good too I just wish this location was open on the weekends. Great coffee, yummy seasonal syrups, delicious pastries and sandwiches, I'm a fan :)

Yelp
I've been to another green line cafe before but it was my first time going to this one. The coffee was alright. I liked the hot chai more than the iced mocha. To use the bathroom, you need to purchase something and then let the security guard know. I think the window all along the wall is a very cool look and it seemed like a chill place to study of that's you're thing. It wasn't crowded at all and was pretty quiet. The barista was very kind as well.

Yelp
The vegan wrap was terrible. It was so overloaded with black pepper that I barely took more than 2 bite and had to toss it out. The iced coffee with oatmilk was delicious!!

Yelp
Over the past 2 years, I have become a loyal devotee to this great coffee shop!! I'm a local dog walker and it has been along a regular route, so I would often come in for a quick bite or beverage after a long walk. I've become friendly with Katherine, the shop manager, who has really gone above and beyond, and through a few changes of baristas, Liz and Sophia have been my favorites. The shop is usually very quiet, minimal music playing which is very refreshing these days compared to the louder atmosphere of competitors. It's nice to actually be able to hear myself think and enjoy interesting conversations with people, relax and unwind. Most of the food and beverage offerings are really good. I love the medium roast coffee, the Italian sodas, the delicious turkey croissant, fruit crumble, Dottie's Donuts, cookies, protein bars, chocolates, etc. My dog walking is taking me a little further away, but I still plan to visit when in the area. Great coffee shop, staff and lovely chill vibe.

Yelp
I've been to this location a couple times. It's got a great spot in town and is fairly clean. Seating is about 6ish tables, so it's pretty small. Staff are very sweet and helpful. It's also not super echo-y when having a conversation. It isn't too busy between 8-9am like most coffee shops, which makes me think its losing business or has more expensive coffee than other shops in the area. Only real complaint is the coffee, unfortunately. The last few I've had there had a strange, burnt aftertaste that I really didn't like. May be the type of beans they use, but I've enjoyed my regular drink at locations in west philly without this aftertaste. I enjoy oat mochas, so I usually get that. I may try more drinks later and see if this is just a mocha thing.

Yelp
Green Line is in the same building I work in so I go here quite often. I've actually never tried their pastries or bagels but I hear great things. I really enjoy their sweet potato wrap and chick pea salad. I'm also a big fan of their chai latte. Green Line is a bit expensive but there's rarely ever a line and the staff is super nice. It's conveniently located for a lot of people, being right next to the Comcast Center. They offer breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches, apples, bananas, oranges, and chips. One time the barista said I could have a second orange for free! This is a good place to go to get work done because it's never too busy and it's normally quiet. Not to mention, all of the windows and the corner location make it a great people watching spot if you're into that sort of thing.

Yelp
I wanted to get a quick breakfast, and did not feel like going to the usual Starbucks. I decided to check out Green Line Cafe, which is in the lobby of an office building. There was a line in the morning, this place is quite popular. They have different types of coffee, and many vegan options for breakfast. Bagels, tofu cream cheese, Dottie's donuts, breakfast sandwiches etc. There are also non-vegan options for people like me! I had a bacon, egg and cheese breakfast sandwich. There is limited seating, this is more of a to go place.

Yelp
Green Line Cafe you are absolutely terrific, I had a wonderful experience here yesterday. This place is fabulous. Every thing was very yummy and I can not wait to go back already. Staff is really friendly and will certainly help you with anything. We're excited to try more options soon.

Yelp
The green line is the bomb. They have a few in South Philly, and I'm glad to see in Center City. They're my go to for lunch. It's kind of hidden across from the Comcast building, so it has a chill atmosphere (as opposed to many people hustling in and out). Green Line overall is very vegan friendly. There are some solid sandwiches (not just a salad), which is nice. It's also very queer friendly, which is a plus

Yelp
A little over priced for what you get! I work in this building, so sometimes when I'm feeling too lazy to go anywhere else for coffee I'll come here. It's definitely overpriced compared to other local coffee shops. I typically get the cold brew and also have tried their lattes which are decent, but again overpriced. The bagels, I must say, are fresh as hell! And the turkey croissant is to die for and the muffins are superb. However, all of this is not a fit for a meal, just a little snack. But you pay for it like it is a meal which is why this is a 3 star rating. Definitely in a convenient spot in the middle of Logan Square/Center City, so if you're around and feening for a coffee or snack it's worth a pop in.

Yelp
Ran in for coffee real quick. Best cold brew Ive EVER had!!! Treats look amazing. Staff went above and beyond to be helpful (went to stock room in the main building to get a cup carrier, brought out the almond milk for me to read the label). Just wish had more milk choices and prices were a tad lower but I will definitely be back!!!!!

Yelp
I go to the West Philly Green Line locations regularly (43rd & Baltimore Avenue the most) and have never had a problem. Barista was friendly but the rating is 2 stars because I ordered a Decaf Americano and it looked so weak. I asked about it after she made my drink and said they do not have a grinder for Decaf Espresso at this location. So, the Decaf coffee is a MEDIUM OR LIGHT ROAST?!. I say be truthful to the customer. I had told her I like my coffee strong and go easy on the water when I placed my order. For food, I ordered the breakfast burrito. The Barista also forgot to turn on thePanini toaster oven on and my breakfast burrito was merely warm. When I arrived at my office, I added 2 shots of Decaf espresso to my fake Americano. Don't think I will return to this locale for a Decaf Caffe Americano. Sorry :(

Yelp
Reasonable prices, good food, attentive and quick staff. Also the bagels are good. That's how I really judge a place. They're also very vegan and vegetarian friendly. Grilled cheese, vegan seitan cheese "steak" is decent (ask them to panini press it for extra long), tofu sandwich, meatless egg and cheese sandwich, etc. they do have meat options as well. They also seem to do gluten free stuff- but that's not my thing so I haven't tried it.

Yelp
Basic coffee shop attached to an office building. Our coffee was made quickly and it was a solid spot to hang out for an hour or so.
google avatar

Alex B.

Yelp
I like this place because it's an inexpensive coffee shop right in the city. They have almond milk which is a good thing for vegans and they also carry Dottie's donuts which are vegan! They're 2.50 and usually carry good flavors. The barista is always friendly and the atmosphere is always calm and cool is a bustling city.

Yelp
Good prices, friendly service, amazing vegan strawberry lemon scone.

Yelp
I am a regular customer at the Green Life Cafe as I work in the building. The customer service is amazing, coffee is excellent and the food as well. My favorites are bagels, yoghurt parfaits, sandwiches and pastries. I only wish they had a greater selection of salads.
google avatar

Yelp
This little cafe is on my walk to work & has great FT/O coffee! They have plenty of vegan options and everything is clearly marked. They carry Dottie's vegan donuts (usually after 8) bagels with PB or vegan cream cheese, vegan cheesesteak & a vegan sweet potato burrito. They offer soy milk alongside the conventional (killy) milk & do not charge extra. That's always nice to not have to beg for a splash of ND milk for your coffee. Looking at you Starbucks. They move the line and you are on your way to work way faster than s'bux.

Raye K.

Yelp
Little shop with some food, pastries, and coffee. Really like the iced americano. Its toasty yummy, not Starbucks cancer water. Always stop by when I'm nearby. Baristas are nice. Also they had dottie's vegan donuts today and it's chewy and yummy!

Caitlin H.

Yelp
Fresh fresh fresh! I love the green line cafe for many reasons, but the first one is that they have so many fresh food options! They always have something to meet my craving from my sweet tooth. They have vegan and regular options for their scones and muffins (which are to die for) they have all unique flavors and they change daily! They also have fresh bagels and a big selection of sandwiches for lunch and breakfast! This place is also confidently located right next to the Comcast building in center city! The only thing I wish they had was cold drinks like smoothies or something fruity!

Erik S.

Yelp
In town for work. It was close by. Great friendly staff who was nice. Place was clean and the food was good.

Katie F.

Yelp
Good coffee and bagels. However, they don't put the spread on for you and only give one ounce of cream cheese for this big fluffy bagel! Not nearly enough. You can imagine the disappointment when I got to my desk to indulge and didn't have enough cream cheese to enjoy.

Patricia L.

Yelp
Love this little place. I never have to wait more than five min and thats even with a line of 4-5 people. The baristas are always fast yet efficient. I have never had any issues or problems with my order. Its clean, fast and convenient!
