MICHELIN Guide Croatia : Gastronomic highlights in Split

"Alongside the eastern wall of Diocletian’s Palace next to the Church of St Dominic, this bustling fruit and vegetable market—known as Pazar by locals—is an iconic sight for food-lovers and a focal point of daily life. Here, tastes, scents and colours mingle with the voices and cries of the stallholders, creating a truly theatrical spectacle." - Annalisa Leopolda Cavaleri

"Just east of the palace is the city's vibrant fruit and vegetable market where farmers from the hinterland come to sell fresh produce every day from sunrise to lunchtime. This is where locals stock up on supplies for the family table, ranging from seasonal fruits and vegetables to local prosciutto, nuts and jams. Encircling the market are souvenir and clothing stalls."

Nice market with fresh fruit and vegetable stalls on one side and souvenir shops on the other. It opens early in the morning and stays open until around 3 PM. Prices were reasonable. Its close proximity to the old city makes it a convenient spot to check out while visiting Split.

You will small sellers offering their products and some amenities. Very nice experience for a day program. Good food court is attached to the market.

Nice fresh market but we came in the afternoon most of the stalls already closed, still lots of fresh fruits, nuts and some souvenir shops still opened .

I was expecting just food stands but no there’s so many clothes, jewellery and souvenir stands. It’s reasonably priced but if you’re a tourist they will over charge you so do look for items with set prices eg. It says 3 euro for a ring. Otherwise you will be charged 20 or more lol.

Great selection of fresh fruit and vegetables. Prices are very affordable and sellers are lovely. Mostly cash only, so bring coins. Watermelon is to die for!

Cute local market. Love coming here to see how the local lives and see all the fresh produce. They also have deli and butchers. Not selling seafood as they have a particular market in the old town selling only seafood. Highly recommended for just walking around and see what Croatian fresh market like.
