The Best Sushi in Jacksonville, Florida | Eater Miami

"With three locations around Jacksonville, Green Papaya has become a mainstay for sushi in the town. The restaurant is known for its affordable sushi lunch specials, which start at just $11 for two rolls served with soup or salad. The spicy blue crab roll is a decadent option that kicks it up in the flavor department with the addition of jalapeno for a sweet, briny, and spicy taste in every bite."

We ordered takeout from Green Papaya, and while I didn’t dine in, the atmosphere inside looked very cute and welcoming when I went to pick up the food. The staff was friendly and helpful, which I appreciated. I tried the Pad Thai and was a little underwhelmed—it didn’t have the usual bold peanut flavor I was expecting, the noodles were clumped together, and there were large chunks of egg with not a ton of meat, especially for the price. It wasn’t terrible, just not the best Pad Thai I’ve had. Overall, the experience was okay. I’d be open to trying other dishes in the future, and the dine-in vibe might offer a different experience.

Google
It's a beautiful restaurant with attentive staff. The food was decent but we hoped for better flavors. Tom Yum was the best from our order. We also had seaweed salad, yellowtail & jalapeño, spicy scallop (only tasted tempura crunch), spider roll (tasted good), scallop pad thai (not bad but nothing spectacular).

Google
Went for lunch the other day seeking good Thai food and the food was honestly mediocre. I felt they had a fairly small lunch menu. I tried the Tom Yum soup and it had a really spicy after taste at only level 2. I also thought it was a little pricy at $9 as well. I had green curry with chicken and the curry sauce was very liquidy vs what I have experienced with other Thai restaurants having a more thicker sauce with a distinct coconut, curry taste. The service was good but somebody needs to tell management that the walking robot really is creepy and does not add any elegance to the restaurant..Don't think I will be coming back for a while..

Google
I recently found a great spot for Thai lunch, and it turned out to be a pleasant surprise. The restaurant is spacious, with high ceilings and a welcoming ambience. It’s also well-suited for large gatherings, as I noticed several round tables that could comfortably seat eight. We started with the Green Papaya Sampler, and it was outstanding—far exceeding our expectations. The platter included fresh rolls, chicken satay skewers, breaded butterfly shrimp, fried spring rolls, and krab rangoon. Every single item was flavorful and well-executed. Definitely a must-try. For the main dish, we had Pad Se Ew. The noodles had a great texture, and the seasoning was well-balanced. However, the dish lacked the signature deep color and caramelization that I’ve experienced with authentic Pad Se Ew in Bangkok. It seemed like they may have skipped the dark soy sauce, which is key to achieving that rich, savory depth. One unexpected and amusing touch—the restaurant has a robot server roaming around, delivering dishes to tables. It was both efficient and entertaining! That said, the overall experience was very positive, and I’d gladly return. Looking forward to trying more dishes next time!

Great sushi and sashimi especially the lunch specials as well as many delicious Thai dishes. Recommend the Sushi and Sashimi lunch special (pictured below) and ikura (salmon roe) sushi.

I recently ordered sushi takeout from Green Papaya, and it exceeded all expectations! The presentation was beautiful even in takeout containers, and everything looked fresh and appetizing. The rolls were packed with flavor, with a perfect balance of textures—crispy, creamy, and fresh all in one bite. Some highlights were the beautifully topped rolls with avocado and spicy sauce, along with the tempura shrimp rolls that were crunchy and flavorful. Everything was neatly packed with ginger, wasabi, and fresh garnish, making the meal feel complete. If you’re craving high-quality sushi at home, Green Papaya is definitely the place to order from. I will be coming back for more!

Google
This company deleted my review right after I left it so I’m gonna leave it again. They’re way overpriced. I ordered food got home and they forgot to put the peanuts , limes and the bean sprouts in my Pad Thai as soon as I called to ask about it they offered to give me extra on my next visit refuse to give me a five dollar credit. Do yourself a favor. Don’t spend money here. Food is not that good. Google Green Papaya complaints. It will tell you everything you need to know. There are better places on the island that have better service and better food. Andaman is outstanding

UPDATE: Bad food, poor service, incorrect orders, dirty interior. This place has declined incredibly!!! We stopped by on a Tuesday around 8. From the moment we walked in the door, until we left, nothing was the usual 5 star experience we have had in the past. Service: Hostess answered the phone as we walked in and would not even gesture for us to please wait/be patient, etc. She spent 5 minutes on the phone verifying an order or something. When she did get off the phone, there were no apology or explanation, just “2?” As in just the 2 of you for dinner tonight? The server took a long time to get our orders and would disappear for long periods of time. Atmosphere: The table next to us had dirty dishes from the previous customer, and it remained that way for around 10 minutes. Food: Order (Pad seew & Pad Thai) was incorrectly made (my dish was supposed to come with broccoli but it didn’t have any. I asked about it and the server asked if I wanted the entire dish remade or just the broccoli. I asked for just the broccoli. Several minutes later, an old woman walked up and abruptly set down a bowl of mixed vegetables and announced “broccoli” which it wasn’t, it was clearly a bowl of mixed vegetables, with just 2 tiny pieces of broccoli. Our rice noodle dishes were incredibly sweet. Almost syrup-sweet and lacked any other flavor. At the end of our meal, we had an entire plate of rice noodles remaining-due to the sweetness, all we could eat was the protein and vegetables because we doused them with soy sauce. The noodles were like candy or a dessert. Super weird. When we paid, the first tip option on the portable card reader the server was holding, was 18% and it went up from there. Come on. 15% is standard for parties less than 6. It was just the 2 of us. Anyhow, we do not think we will visit Green Papaya anymore, at least until we hear some positive news. Please go back to the excellent service and delicious SAVORY (not sweet) dishes that earned you the original 5 star review. ORIGINAL POST: Outstanding Thai food, affordably priced modern & clean/organized atmosphere! Green Papaya is the best Thai Food option in northeast Florida. We had the appetizer sampler, Basil Thai fried rice with beef, and noodles with scallops. Each dish was bursting with flavor and incredibly tasty. The interior was very modern and aesthetically pleasing. Each staff member was very courteous and professional. Very convenient location on CR210 and I-95. I highly recommend this venue for a date night or if you are craving fantastic Asian fare.

Yelp
Our waitress Jenny was excellent. Polite, and very attentive. Best service we've received in a long time. We will be back.

Yelp
Really popping on a Friday evening. Staff was attentive. I ordered the basil fried rice with tofu which was pretty good. I got it with 2/5 spice but definitely could've done with a 3 as there was very minimal spice Ordered a drunken noodle to go and that was also quite flavorful.

Yelp
We came to Green papaya on a recommendation. We got the booth we wanted. There was a dead roach under our booth. We informed the server and it was taken away immediately. I asked the waitress for a lemon drop martini. Wifey had the same old Mojito. Both entrees were full of flavor and deserving of all our praise. However, the star of the night was the spicy dragon roll. All the dishes were flavorful. I joined the Green Papaya club. Our first visit was very nice since my wife os always suggesting thai food. Conveniece amd flapral is what Green papaya had to offer. The ambience was blase but the food made up for the decor. Unil our next event...

Yelp
Came in with a large group that was somewhat disorganized. Staff was very helpful and patient and the food was great

Yelp
Beautiful decor and surprisingly upscale vibe, but the food fell short. Black dragon roll: 2/5, basic and poorly constructed. The $17 price tag was not justified. House special roll: 3/5, not bad and the seaweed on top was a nice touch. Salmon and yellowtail sashimi: 4/5, tasted fairly fresh. Service: 4/5, Our waiter was fairly attentive but did not refresh our waters. The robot delivery and birthday song was delightful.

Yelp
it was so good. The food was really nice when they served it to you warm they had a really good thia tea which is usually really hard to find. They had really good service. everyone's really friendly and it's super nice. It's very has good lighting. The food is straight busting.

Yelp
Loved this place! Gorgeous atmosphere inside. Little robots rolling around delivering food which felt otherworldly!! Perfect date night. Our server was so friendly and kind. She offered suggestions and took excellent care of us! I tried two of their specialty sushi rolls. The "Holiday Roll" had delicious tempura shrimp, mango, avocado, cream cheese, and crunch wrapped in soy paper, topped with kani, tobiko and special sauces!! Loved how the tobiko was all different colors. Very visually appealing!! Super yummy, full of big flavors and so many delightful textures working together for the perfect bite! I also tried the "New England Roll" which was a California roll topped with lobster salad, mango, mango sauce, and tobiko. The mango sauce is utterly delicious. Big flavors and great texture with this roll as well! Both rolls were slam dunks in my opinion!! Highly recommend and I'll definitely be back again to try some more delicious rolls!!

Yelp
Went last night to celebrate my wife's birthday. Food and service wasn't great. The Mai Tai wasn't good. The menu has Quail egg as an ingredient to go with the Tuna Tartare appetizer but it didn't have it when it came out. The server said they don't do it anymore and would let the owner know the menu still says it. The Crispy Garlic Duck wasn't great. The duck has more of a tempura-fried taste/texture, not what you would typically think of when you order a crispy duck dish. They kindly brought out a piece of cheesecake at no charge for my wife's birthday, but it tasted very freezer-burned.

Yelp
The restaurant is in a nice spacious commercial center. Very well decorated and clean with a big bar. The server was very helpful and knowledgeable of their menu. The food was fresh and delicious. I order sashimi platter and miso soup. I recommend this place !
google avatar

Yaseen N.

Yelp
Take a look at the picture. This is what you get for $9. It's barely enough soup for one person. Definitely not worth the price. Folks, this is not LA or SF or NY. Stop pretending it is.
google avatar

Yelp
Had some really mediocre food with some incredibly mediocre service. Of all of the green papaya locations I've been to, this is hands down the worst. If you're accustomed to the food and service of the other locations, you won't find it here. I honestly don't see this place staying in this location for much longer.
google avatar

Viktoriya M.

Yelp
First time here. Quick service. Food was ok. Our tuna tataki appetizer was the best part and the most delicious of all other items. Tom yum soup was lacking flavor and missing that unique Tom yum taste. For my curry salmon I asked for no rice and extra veggies instead, and they charged me extra without letting me know.
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
Really enjoyed dinner here with my husband. The clear soup was great, I also had a shrimp tempura sushi roll ( I know it's boring but I think it shows the quality of restaurant when they have a good one?) and I had some curry. 'T was delicious. I didn't have anything to drink but my husband did and enjoyed it. They had robots that delivered the food, it was a fun new thing to experience. Overall really enjoyed myself.

Yelp
Decided to try Green Papaya for the first time. Now this goes for all Green Papayas since I have never been to one. We walked in for lunch on a Saturday and wow this place is very nice on the inside and it very large. We sat down and saw they even have I starry night effect with shooting stars too. Oh, did I mention they have a robot?!?!! Our very friendly waitress came up and dropped off menus. They have drinks well priced at $10 each. I of course went with an Old Fashioned. They also have a lunch menu that is also well priced and it is available on Saturday too. I was feeling saucy and hadn't had Pad Thai in awhile (well good Pad Thai) so I went with that with Beef and they had sushi specials and the Oceanroll was calling my name. Our food came out quickly and looked very good. fat pieces of fish in the sushi roll and a nice serving of Pad Thai with plenty of beef. This was of sure some of the better Pad Thai I had had lately too. Can't stand the flavorless overly sweet stuff you find around now. I also did try the Fresh Mango with Chicken. This unfortunately was on the over sweet side which makes sense. It is for sure similar to Sweet and Sour Chicken. I will say for the most part we all really enjoyed our lunch. Great friendly service, beautiful inside, great food and prices. For sure try them out if your looking to mix up with some quality Thai and sushi.

Yelp
A large dining room with a huge bar and kitchen visible to patrons. Service was excellent - our server handled special requests and recipe modifications to accommodate special needs easily and professionally. Thai and sushi cuisine with an extensive menu - although we are used to Thai restaurants offering Thai iced coffee - not available here. They do make Thai iced tea, but it just isn't the same taste. Sorry, it's one of the main things we judge Thai restaurants on. We ordered a number of sushi rolls and the kana salad, all excellent - so the sushi side of the house is very good. I think if we were going out for Thai cuisine we would stick with our favorite Thai-only restaurant in Jax.

Yelp
Delicious food and amazing ambiance. Reminds me of home I would recommend it to people who want to try Thai

KitaLovingme H.

Yelp
Very disappointed receiving my pad Thai as it is one of our favorite dishes. It tastes like yesterday's order. The food is stuck together, dry and has no flavor. The rice was just as hard.
google avatar

Nickette M.

Yelp
This is a must try and my main reason is the Shrimp fried rice was a class above the others I have had. The customer service was good and they have robots carrying the food to you if necessary. An excellent experience with kids!
google avatar

Shelley S.

Yelp
We mostly do take out. We order the curry often but noticed there are fewer and fewer vegetables added. Could use more beans, mushrooms, broccoli. I have had some awesome curries from other places that also add potatoes. I hope it will be considered for future dish.

Vibhu S.

Yelp
The server had an attitude from the time we sat down. The appetizers came in together with the entree and she says "If you want the appetizers first, you have to ask". Seriously? On top of that, the food was half cold. I am not impressed. Won't be back.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been reading the excellent reviews about other Green Papaya locations for a long time. Now that there is one closer to home, I finally had a chance to experience what I've been missing and it didn't disappoint. The owner's daughter Nina let us know they just opened about a month ago. Pretty big menu with Thai, sushi, and hibachi. We ordered some Roti canai, a black dragon roll, the mouth watering roll, and duck with golden curry 5 level spice. I would've ordered above the max but I was splitting it with my son. The roti really hit the spot and that was after a 15 min drive home, the black dragon with eel and shrimp tempura was excellent, and the mouth watering was very good. The duck was well executed with 3 breasts and a great flavor profile. I know spice level is subjective and in my opinion, could have been hotter. Add me to your list of fans!!

Alivia M.

Yelp
Ambience out of this world, the food has never disappointed my favorite is the tom ka soup amazing! I would 100% recommend this place
google avatar

Brian D.

Yelp
We've been to other locations and high expectations. Unfortunately, this location didn't match our other experiences. The menu is a bit limited compared to the St. Augustine location. Some of our favorite items were not available. Service was okay. Not bad. Just not what i would have thought as we went at an off time and they weren't busy. Don't get me wrong, the food is good. I'm assuming that since they just recently opened, that things will improve. Their menu will match other locations and their service will also improve. We will be back.
google avatar

Jesika K.

Yelp
Two visits here so far and I'm a fan. First visit here they weren't fully functioning with their bar yet but the space is so intriguing and the food is so fresh. The flavors are there for both the Thai dishes and the sushi. I'm equal opportunity for both sections of the menu.
google avatar

Yelp
I loveee going to this place when I'm craving an upscale asian restaurant. Very beautiful decor inside and the waiters are very quick and nice. Once, one of my dishes took a bit longer so they gave me a squid salad on the house. The salad is soooo good and all the fish is very fresh. I looking to try their noodle dishes as well because they look delicious. I have been here multiple times and have often bought friends and family here to try.
google avatar

Cindy A.

Yelp
After several visits for Thai food (haven't tried the sushi yet), this is a reliable place to get yummy food. Have tried multiple dishes and all are good. The atmosphere is fancy feeling, without feeling pretentious. Casual and perfect for groups. Pad Thai was $15, so prices are pretty normal. One of our go to options. I will be back.

Yelp
I have had Green Papaya on US1 so I know they're good. I decided to give this location on 210 a chance. We arrived at 9:27. We saw on line it says they're open until 10pm. When we walked in, the host says come in and sit anywhere. No later than 2 seconds later another guy came out with an attitude saying they already made last call. I then asked him, so you really close at 9:30? Why have it publicized that you close at 10pm? In addition, the sign outside says it's still open. Another sign by the door says open until 10pm. Yet they want to say they are officially closed at 9:27pm. He had an attitude and was not kind to us at all!!! My biggest advice- if you're going to close at 9:30- then change your advertisement, promotion & anything else that says you close at 10pm.
google avatar

Juliet H.

Yelp
delicious!!!!!! The restaurant and the plaza this restaurant is in looks pretty brand new. Green Papaya at 210 is beautifully decorated! 10 out of 10!! One of the photos is their rangoon and the spring roll apps... I ate one of each before taking the photo, so that's my fault that they look like they look incomplete!
google avatar

Jasmin E.

Yelp
The food was savory, spicy, and delicious! Makes you want to dance and sing- I like it when you call me big papa-ya! The ambiance gives you a great aesthetic vibe. The servers were friendly and accommodating. Great place for a family dinner. My party of 5 will return soon... oh papa-yeah!

Thomas F.

Yelp
The take out was spot on and ordering online was very easy. The food was very flavorful and the big portions made for a nice lunch the next day. I'll be back.

Judy M.

Yelp
We had another great girls lunch at Green Papaya. Some ordered sushi and some Thai and everyone was happy with their order. The service was top notch. I ordered a 3/5 in spice level and that was perfect for my spice craving. I would recommend this restaurant highly.

Phyllis M.

Yelp
Food is ok. Atmosphere is cold. No amount of style. Male waiter is rude and arrogant. One of the worst waiters we have ever encountered. Will not be back and will share our displeasure
google avatar

Alisa J.

Yelp
Finally we made it in! We love the airport location and this one is great too. We tried a variety of things: appetizer sampler, pad Thai, panang curry, tamarind chili seafood dish, and some shrimp ramen noodles made light on sauce and no spice for my youngest. Everything was good. The noodle dishes are saucier than many Thai places, but taste good. The panang curry was a highlight. Our faves from the sampler were the fresh spring rolls and the coconut shrimp though hubby and I like the crab Rangoon as well. My old fashioned was a generous pour if a tiny bit on the sweet side. Service from Ben was great. We'll be back.

Yelp
Closed Mondays, so check prior. Have cocktails. Hard time getting phone answered. In back of shops/dining compleax.

Yelp
Great food and servers are so friendly. Restaurant cute inside. Food service using robots which is fun.
google avatar

Giselle A.

Yelp
Everything here was delicious! The look of the restaurant and the presentation of the entree's looked outstanding! Not pictured in this review is the salmon nigiri. It's got to be one of the better nigiri's that I've had compared to other restaurants. Shoutout to waitress/bartender - Faye Owner - Cindy Chef - Mr. Lee
google avatar

Engin U.

Yelp
The quality of Thai food and sushi is very good. They never disappoint. We dine in as a family and we do take out once in a while. They use robots along with servers who are really nice. Well decorated restaurant.
google avatar

Doug G.

Yelp
The Amazing Curry is, in fact, amazing! Getting that peanut flavor in my curries is such a treat. Also the service is great, and I love the robot runner!
google avatar

Ekaterina S.

Yelp
Delicious food, great size! Just our waiter looked tired, kept forgetting orders, and didn't help with choice at all. There is no kids menu, and we expected any suggestions. Or we asked for no spicy, and it still was. They were able to accommodate us 9 people. The owner or manager came to us during the dinner, and she was nice and sweet.

Nancy R.

Yelp
Our server was kind and my friend enjoyed her garden vegetables; however, I could not even make myself eat my pineapple fried rice.

Tom B.

Yelp
The food and service were great. Unfortunately that was overshadowed by the cocaroach climbing behind me on the false wall in the back on the left side. Last table in the corner.

Char B.

Yelp
great service, the people were nice the food was very good and the atmosphere was pleasant

Yelp
Stopped in at the newly opened Green Papaya for Father's Day dinner. They just opened on Saturday, but you would not know it. The service was good, but more importantly the food was excellent. Portions were large so we all had leftovers. There is a big bar area (but no liquor license yet) and plenty of comfortable seating. One room has a twinkling night sky that has shooting stars. My family and I had: - Crab Rangoon - Vegetable Tempura - Amazing Beef - Fried Rice - Penang Curry
google avatar

Yelp
Went to new location off 210 and 95 for dinner the other night. The decor and overall look is great. The tables do feel awfully close and we were all seated in one corner which was off leaving most of the dining room empty. Felt like I was sitting with another table. We had sample platter and then I had the Thai basil Pork at a spice if 6. Was not at all spiced and should have gone with my original 8 but waiter freaked me out about it. Also lacked basil and wasn't like other Thai basil dishes I had. Think I was sent wrong order but it was tasty! Will try again!

Sydney H.

Yelp
Best pad Thai I've ever had 10/10. Young girl at the front was very sweet. I will be back soon:)
google avatar

Barbara S.

Yelp
Food was okay but service was terrible. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon around 1:30 the restaurant was not busy our drink order was promptly taken. We were a group of three the first order was brought out by the robot and no server came to unload it for 10 minutes, it sat there getting cold. The second person in our group got there food brought out by a server about 15 minutes after the first person was served. The third person in our group got there lunch approximately 10 minutes after the second person. The appetizer was brought out after everyone was done with their meal. Second person was supposed to have soup with their meal and never received it. When we were finished and ready to pay no one ever came back to table to take payment. Sorry can't blame it on they were busy Because when we were leaving there was only one other table of 4 people in the restaurant.

Linda M.

Yelp
Love pineapple fried rice dish. Average service, sometimes a little slow. Friendly service.

Yelp
Love Green Papaya! This location is near to my house. Easy to order take out. Food is always perfect and yummy. Great dine in atmosphere too.
