Google
It’s very meh, clean enough but not very clean, enough selection but not great, fresh but not crisp. There was a lot of cross contamination ingredients wise. I didn’t try the soups but I’d recommend going elsewhere for a salad bar.

Google
This place is great for soup and salad. Located in the beautiful Guardian Building, they have a solid salad bar, and very good soups that are not salty (as they often can be). They have a nice variety of soups, including vegetarian and vegan. Also, they have a jammin' ecclectic music playlist.

Google
Had a great meal here! Was looking for a place that makes daily soups and I found mine! Tried the Turkey Chili and the Potato Corn Chowder and both were to die for! Definitely gonna be trying them all one by one. Great customer service too, everyone was very nice.

Google
My favorite part of my day at work is coming to Green Room for their soup!! Every morning, my co-workers & I wait for the new menu of the day to post on Instagram and we get so excited to pick which soup we’re going to get that day! I have my list of favorite soups including the chicken enchilada, lasagna soup, broccoli cheese, chicken pot pie, potato dill pickle, turkey chili, etc. But I love all of them! The salad bar is also sooo good!! There are so many options to choose from! Thank you Brian & everyone for making this our favorite place to go to & for giving me something to look forward to. You’re the best!!

Google
Really good salad bar. I've been there a ton of times and never once have I seen salad mix or toppings that looked old. Every thing is fresh and really good. There is usually a line because the place is so small, but it's worth it if you want a really good salad that you completely customize.

Trish

Google
Overpriced. Also I've come around 2 a couple of times and they were closed. Sign says open until 3. Last time I came at 1:30 and there were hardly any toppings for the salad bar. I would not recommend the broccoli cheddar soup. Too bad there aren't better healthy options around.

Google
Small, simple place with lots of options to make your salad. The soups seem popular too (behind the counter.) The spinach and lettuce leaves have been of a high quality so far, not soggy or discolored. I'm not sure if the olive oil is 'extra virgin' or not, but it would be nicer if it was. The trick to the salads is that they're priced by weight, so if you go heavy on dressing or chicken or other wet things, it will cost a lot more. The leaves alone, packed tight, could probably never go over 5 or 6 dollars. And that would be a feat. So if you go easy on the heavy stuff, you can get a healthy, large salad for about 5.00, and most folks would save half for the next day. Not bad for downtown.

Google
I came in and ordered the Turkey Chili on my lunch. He asked me to wait 5 minutes for it to warm up. I proceeded to wait on the chili. I walked back to my place of employment only to find that the Turkey Chili was ice cold. I called the Green Room and the young man told me to bring it back in order to get a refund. So now I have to walk back to his facility for a return and still no lunch. Not very good customer service- This was my first and last visit!

Yelp
First of all, this Shop is consistent with tasty and different soups. Today was chilly in downtown Detroit. I wanted non boxed REAL flavor soup Answer is always Green Room I wanted to try the Italian Wedding soup yet, I wanted to have the Turkey Kale Vegetable soup. So I purchased both 1 for me 1 for my husband. We were both extremely pleased with flavor and texture

Yelp
Green Room has been my go to salad bar for a few years. When I say go to I mean I went there weekly to make my own custom salad. I was part of the "salad club" & was the recipient of many nearly free salads from my patronage of this establishment. Unfortunately lately the quality is DOWN, the lettuce is always wet & wilted, my dressing is hit or miss & I have had to throw more than 1 salad away recently. I chatted with a few co-workers who used to also love Green Room & they too feel the same way. Most of us have ditched Green Room for the very fresh salad bar @ Plum Market. Although we pay more we know the ingredients are fresh & always replenished. Please do better Green Room if you want your regulars to return.

Yelp
I love the Green Room. Who doesn't love a salad bar? Lots of fresh toppings and I don't have to leave the Guardian Building on rainy days. So convenient! They have a ton of rotating soups and they're delicious. I had the artichoke lemon rice yesterday, which is vegan, and it was so so good. I could eat this soup every day. Light, lemony, savory and satisfying. The staff is friendly and helpful and if you go in before noon, you can get lunch in under 5 minutes.

Yelp
I was turned on to this place by some co-workers when I started working in the area. Now I pick up lunch here 2 or 3 days per week. Fresh salads with a huge selection of vegetables and other toppings. Their soups are amazing - huge variety, unique flavors...and they are all great. The guys working here are also super friendly!

Yelp
My first time but I will be a serial repeaters. Arrived a bit before the crowd, so the line had not yet gone outside the door. Very good selection of greens and 'fixings', as well as dressings. The croutons are very good, too. Only improvement would be to trim the ends of the spinach leaves off. As it is they serve as whip antennas to fling dressing around. Take out only; pay by the pound ...

Yelp
Cusabi dressing! Even better than it sounds. I've been to Greenroom Salads a bunch since my last review. They offer a consistently fresh and inventive DIY salad bar. Add a list of fresh soups, always including vegetarian options, and you've got yourself a lunch-time winner. I might need to consider adding a star...

Yelp
I paid a visit today based on the reviews here on Yelp. This is a nice place to visit for a quick salad or soup to take with you. Very good and reasonable pricing. Check it out.

Yelp
This place is a great little spot to stop in to build your own salad during the week! Especially because it's easy to get sick of some of the usual lunch spots by the office - they have a pretty great soup selection, and tons of options to customize the salad of your dreams. Prices are based on the weight of your salad.

Yelp
On my first few visits to Motown, I used to think the city that is ham eater's heaven was also vegetarian hell. My pescetarian traveling companion settled into a monotonous diet of perch and baked potatoes. It didn't seem too bad until her skin started turning color. I wish I had found this place sooner. The salad bar is the centerpiece here, and it's pretty wicked. There are enough options to create a unique and varied salad, if only there were more time! The sign at the start of the line states something like, "we realize it takes time to achieve perfection, but please be mindful of the other artists in line who are waiting to create their own masterpiece." My head spinning with option paralysis, I stepped outside for some air and a chance to formulate a plan. Returning, I piled on toppings like wasabi peas, walnuts, ham, bleu cheese, cranberries, and Canadian bacon, burying a few greens in a sea of flavor and creating an omnivore salad. Aside from the salad, they also got all kinds of soup. I think there were six choices. I made the wrong choice. The Southwest Chicken soup tasted vaguely Chinese, vaguely like Chef Boyardee (TM). American Chop Suey?

Yelp
The Greenroom is tucked back on the side of the Ford Building between a parking lot and Jimmy John's. If you're not looking for it, you might not know it's even there. They're only open for lunch, but this is one of my favorite places. Detroit has a number of salad bars available in various cafeterias, but none of them have the selection this place does. They have four kinds lettuce - romaine, ice burg, field greens, and spinach, four kinds of cheese, and so many fresh vegetables along with meats, cottage cheese, and pasta salads. You can make a very healthy salad, or a not very healthy one easily here. The homemade soup is another good reason to come here. The turkey chili is always popular, but I love that they have some more unique flavors - like the carrot soup I had on my very first trip! There's usually at least one vegetarian friendly selection too. The best part is that they'll let you try it before committing your lunch to something you might not like. Finally, the sandwiches. Greenroom is associated with Lunchbox Deli, an excellent sandwich shop in Grosse Pointe. They have a selection of pre-made lunch box sandwiches in their case, or you can request one the day before and they'll bring you exactly what you want. I'm here at least 3 days a week. The fresh vegetables, friendly staff, and buy 12 get 1 free punch card keep me coming back!

Yelp
Their posted hours are wrong and they have been wrong and will continue to be wrong. I went to their frigging website that had their hours POSTED 10 am - 3 pm. I took time off work at 10:10 am and their guy said "We open at 11". I said, "What about your sign?" He asked, "What sign?" I pointed to the sign in the window and said "That sign... and that is the sign on your website, too. It's why I'm here..." He said, "That's up to the boss." The boss doesn't appear to value my time as I do. I went back at 11:00 am and told a different worker, who "explained" that they had expected to be open at ten o'clock but that there was no business at that time. And I said, "So, are you going to change the sign? (I had handed him "11:00 a.m." printed in several different size fonts) He said, "You have a point. I said, "Are you going to change the sign?" He said, "You have a point." I like this place but they NEED TO CHANGE THEIR SIGN TO REFLECT THE ACTUAL HOURS THAT THEY ARE OPEN. Just sayin'.......

Yelp
Greenroom Salads is one of those spots that is chock full of regulars, and I can see why. Plenty of options on the build-your-own salad bar, pretty good prices, and the line moves at a brisk pace. Today was my first trip there, and I was actually worrying that I was holding up the line by taking too long to decide on my options! The toppings range from the savory to sweet, so you could eat here everyday without getting too bored. 4 options for greenery, several cheeses, at least 4 meat options, fruits and veggies galore, 6 dressings (plus oil and vinegar), the standard extras- croutons, sunflower seeds, walnuts, chow mien noodles, AND wasabi peas?!? They had 6+ soups available, several of which were vegetarian (and in all honesty, I wish that had taken the time to read the menu, but i was too excited about all my salad options). The service was exactly what I want during the lunch time rush- one attendant repeatedly calls out to the line, asking if anyone wants soup (which isn't self-serve), one was monitoring the buffet and refilling where necessary, while the last efficiently worked the register. The employee at the register today was polite and friendly, but didn't hold up the line with too many pleasantries. In and out in 5 minutes, with a big salad for $5.

Yelp
This is a small self serve salad bar in downtown Detroit. I love to come here to get a salad while waiting in between federal court hearings. The ingredients are fresh and you can usually walk out of there with a pretty decent sized salad for around $6. I would have given it four stars if they didn't weigh the dressing. That's a pretty weak move in my opinion.
google avatar

Travis J.

Yelp
Want a salad bar and that's it, you got it at The Green Room! Nice selection of items like artichokes, 3 types of cheeses, nuts raisin etc... Would have liked to have seen some fresh fruit options. Haven't tried the soups but they have a large daily selection.
google avatar

Yelp
This place is great. I come about once a week for lunch. Everything on the salad bar is always full and fresh, and the soups are AMAZING. With every soup I get, I think "THIS is my new favorite soup." It can get pretty crowded during the 12:00 lunch crunch but they keep the line moving swiftly, and you can go straight to the register if you're not making a salad. Prices are very reasonable. I don't know where the comment about poor customer service is coming from... the guys have always been super courteous, professional, and fast. The only thing holding me back from giving 5 stars is sometimes I'd like a LITTLE more variety of toppings... I like my salads pretty creative, so some avocado or fresh fruit (apples? pears? grapefruit?) would be perfect!

Yelp
This place makes eating healthy so easy. Always a variety of different lettuces and toppings, including one pasta salad every day (which I love to pile beside my salad). They had a caprese salad as one of the toppings the other day, which was a great surprise. Other toppings I love are the chickpeas and walnuts and hard boiled eggs (tons of others vegetables and cheese). They have a big variety of dressings that changes up, but they always set out olive oil and vinegar, which is my go-to. Their turkey chili is fantastic and they have their soups posted daily on their Facebook page, a huge convenience to those of us working downtown. Their rolls are ridiculously tasty, having some sort of sweet honey taste to them. And while I usually love my diet coke, which they offer, eating these healthy salads has prompted me to always grab a vitamin water instead. Hurrah for Green Room!
google avatar

Mark Z.

Yelp
Healthy is the name of the game here, such a huge variety of options for salads. You can sample every soup option which is my favorite part, different soups everyday. I personally love chicken noodle soup and it should be standard everyday, so I'm only giving 4 stars because I've seen days where the chicken noodle soup isn't given haha. Surprisingly expensive for the small upkeep they would have to have for the small space they own, but it's not anything too pricey.

Yelp
My default place to grab lunch. It's quick, you can try the soups, and you build your own salads with fresh veggies. Note: there are no fruits here, and sometimes, if you get there too late, they run out of items (I was there once at 1PM, where they had no more cheese, to the person behind me's chagrin). In fact, I think I need to head over there now...
google avatar

Rikki W.

Yelp
This is becoming my usual go-to place for lunch in the downtown area. Wide variety of salad fixins as well as a variety of soup options, which are pretty tasty. The salad bar is clean and the staff keeps the line running smoothly. Prices are very reasonable as well. If you are looking for a healthy lunch, try this place, you won't be disapponinted!

Greg Y.

Yelp
Favorite place for lunch. You can get a full size salad for $5 here. Everything is fresh and the employees are very friendly. The soup is amazing - try the shrimp and corn chowder!

Yelp
I stopped in here for the first time a few weeks ago and now I'm hooked, primarily because of their cucumber wasabi dressing - it's great! This place is tiny and consists only of a salad bar and some room for a line of people to snake through, but there's a wide selection, the greens are fresh, and everything seems reasonably priced. I'm a fan.
google avatar

Yelp
majah' bummah'. i used a Groupon Now for $4 for $6 this place is teeny tiny and for carry-out only. i went to grab some soup to-go for myself and a coworker, and when i asked the guy if one of the particular soups had dairy, he said "i don't know, we don't make them here" wow. double wow. not that i mind they purchase their soups, it's a small place. but at least know the ingredients you are serving people! i'd hate to have a food allergy and come here. i do enjoy the quickness of getting a salad, and they charge by weight. a few pre-wrapped sandwiches from a deli in GP. all the items on the salad bar looked fresh, and they have a generous selection of soups reasonably priced, but don't expect to find out what's in them! the turkey chili was good, as was the roasted pepper soup. i don't think i'll return unless i'm within walking distance.

Yelp
First time visit. Excellent self service salad. Fresh crisp lettuce and nice variety of toppings. I had a medium vegan lentil soup that was really tasty. Large salad and soup came to just under $10. I will be back again. Thank you.

Bea G.

Yelp
Food: Fresh ingredients on the salad bar. Lots to choose from. Price: Great! Salad was under $5. Decor: I always take mine to go. It's pretty busy during lunch so there isn't usually space to sit. Service: Very friendly and quick. Overall: One of my go-to places for a healthy "big salad" lunch!
google avatar

Yelp
Great refreshing place to eat. always fresh veggies and lettuce on the bar. lots of good soups. They recently remodeled on the inside and the place looks great. They also sell some pre made sandwiches from Lunchbox Deli.
google avatar

Katie W.

Yelp
It refreshing to have a healthy option at lunch that's quick and fresh. Love coming here for the salad bar and soups. This is another hidden gem downtown for lunch time options. The salad bar is build your own and you pay by the pound, i usually pay between $5-7 for an average size salad. They also have sandwiches from lunch box deli, which is a nice compliment. Heading there now for lunch!!
google avatar

Dustin W.

Yelp
Excellent fresh product. Great dressings. A little pricey.
google avatar

Brook B.

Yelp
Good and cheap. The soups are hit and miss, if they are good, they are really good, if that are crap, they are what they are. Great for a light lunch. Gets busy at lunchtime though. It's only for take out btw.
google avatar

Serene E.

Yelp
Right around the corner of some major hotels. I found this place on YELP. Perfect for what I wanted. Very standard salad bar. Isn't that what you want though? Impressed they had kale, and beets, and 4 different lettuces. I like to pick and choose. You are in and out in 5 minutes. I hear their soups are good as well. I bought 2 salads. One for breakfast and one for late lunch. 9.45$. Cheap!!! And fresh!!! Will come back when I visit DTW.
google avatar

Laura T.

Yelp
I love this place. I got a massive salad with lots of sides and it was about $5.50. Can't beat the price. I'd give it 5 stars if they had avocado!
google avatar

Loretta L.

Yelp
As a vegetarian I am so glad I can make my own salads here. Plus they always have multiple vegetarian soup options with creative flavors. Delicious!!
google avatar

Julie F.

Yelp
My favorite lunch spot downtown. Great variety, tasty soups and very friendly staff!
google avatar

Gina G.

Yelp
What a great, healthy lunch spot downtown! The line moves really quickly and there are so many fresh options daily. The staff is awesome and you can't beat the pricing.

Coleen jones G.

Yelp
Not a fan of working in Detroit except for the food options. This is a great place, fast service, wide selection of salad options and delicious soups. Very reasonable too.

John K.

Yelp
The Green Room is tucked away and unless you're looking for it, you may not even see it. I love the short walk from the Guardian building (less than a block) for a good meal. You make the salad your self and can add soup for a little more. It's way better than buying a pre made salad that has been sitting for who knows how long. It's fresh, great tasting, and a great price. Been coming here for two years and love it.

Erica O.

Yelp
While convenient, some of the staff are leas than attentive and today when I went at 230 to get a salad the man sweeping wouldn't unlock the door, signaling they were closed. Their sign and website say they are open till 3.

James W.

Yelp
Great idea. Small, tiny storefront with nothing but take-away salad bar, soups and limited sandwiches and drinks. Very friendly and helpful guys. All the ingredients have been fresh and attractive every time I've been there. And to top it off they have a punch card - buy 12 salads get the next one free! Perfect for downtown workers.

Michelle C.

Yelp
I have been coming here for over a year now. The place is small, but recently remodeled and looks great! The gentlemen that work here are very courteous and helpful. If I have any questions regarding the ingredients in their soups or sandwiches they will put in the extra effort and call the chef(s) to find out what I need. They have a great selection in the salad bar which keeps me from getting bored with eating salads everyday. They have really delicious dressings (Cusabi is awesome if you want full flavor)! Another added bonus, if you want a sandwich from the Lunchbox Deli menu, call it in at LBD either in the AM that day or order it from the Green Room the day before and they will have it there for you to pick up at lunch time. I highly recommend this place.

Dione A.

Yelp
The Greenroom is one of Detroit's best kept secrets. The daily rotation of homemade soups makes you want to visit every day to try them all. The salad bar has all kind of great ingredients like spicy olives, artichoke heats, wasabi peas, dried fruit, and water chestnuts. The service is fast and friendly (say hi to Terrence) and the food is affordable. I catered lunch for a meeting and the sandwiches and salads got rave reviews and the set-up was on time and in order.

Rachel B.

Yelp
I LOVE THE GREENROOM! Not only are the guys that work there super friendly and helpful but the food is amazing. Always have fresh ingredients for the salad and the soup is phenomenal! (the Thai fire with chicken is my favorite!) While it's a carry-out only, this makes it even more perfect for warmer weather since it's a 2 block walk to Hart Plaza for a nice outdoor lunch. I would recommend this place to anyone. They also offer groupons so that makes it an even better deal. Prices are very reasonable!! GO to the Greenroom :)
