Green Street Butchers - Review - City Centre - Bath - The Infatuation

"Green Street Butchers in Bath’s City Centre seems like it was created by somebody who got sick of wandering between shops in preparation for having people over. They say they simply stock “bread, wine, provisions”. But the bread is crusty, fluffy-in-the-middle rolls hugging hunks of porchetta, the wine is Bourgogne Aligoté, and the provisions are tins of spiced calamari ragout. There’s no seating inside, just shelves stocked with the kind of things that you suddenly have a burning desire for, like pizza dough in tubs and milk from a small herd of Friesians. Outside are a few wooden benches which are usually taken up with people hunching over satisfying fennel-flecked, girthy sausage rolls and ciabatta baps with caesar sauce spilling out the sides. Sure, get a Jane Austen tea towel in Bath, but also get a well-priced lunch and takeaway haul from Green Street Butchers." - Sinéad Cranna
