I wish I could post a picture but I devoured my sandwich before thinking about reviews. The nomad is super flavorful. The store has a very interesting a selection of products - clearly someone put a lot of effort with the selection. Did I mention that my sandwich was super delicious?

A very decent sandwich, fresh ingredients, And great bread. Picnic tables and cute fence lock in a chill vibe. Niche brands of potato crisps are fun to try. Would stop here again someday.

Seattle is not a sandwich region To be clear, there are a lot of sandwich places. The vast majority of them are decidedly mediocre. However there are a few bright spots in the region. Greenbank Pantry & Deli is one of them. My go to is either the Italian or the New Jersey, which is very similar. I have to admit that I have not tried others, but I am looking forward to. If you're on Whidbey Island and craving a sandwich, definitely make the effort to go here. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing smart selection of snacks and real wine…the sandwiches kill. Mushroom melty on rye with ham makes me reconsider everything I’ve ever thought about food in this area. Top to bottom, best of the best. We are lucky to have them here 🔥call ahead, it’s craft stuff.

Love Greenbank Pantry. The Nomad is one of the best sandwiches you will ever eat. Great selection of meats and cheeses. Not your typical country store, very unique selection of ethnic products spanning Asian to European. Warning, in the summer there can be a several hour wait, so call ahead to get your order in.

Torn between going north or south for lunch and I ended up in space because the sandwich was outta this world. Simple ingredients set my roast beef sandwich apart from any other I’ve ever had. I can’t wait to try (and fail) to mimic this at home. Guess I’ll see ya at that time but probably tomorrow too. To the Friendly folks here: THANK YOU!

Love this place so much! People are great, sandwiches are delicious (I love the prosciutto mozzarella). Only thing to note it can sometimes be a one hour wait for your sandwich so order ahead!

Well we've lived on weekends and holiday time here for a couple of years. To be fair I eat out while at work around puget sound often and don't feel that many cold sandwiches are too much better than what I can craft at home with effort. Never tried this place but absolutely adore the old Greenbank store from my years living and visiting on Whidbey and as a contractor interested in the rebuilding of the big building. The sandwich bunch was 5 deep when I came In to pick up a called in order. I gave them lots of time and it was ready when I arrived. But I had to stand and wait for all 5 behind the little counter to chit chat and finally tried to politely mention that I had a Togo order ready. Ok so it's ready there! Pointing to the register. I ordered an Italian and half a RBB to try and couldn't pass up the big pickle for my wife to share while working at home that day on a holiday. Staff was indifferent but the guy in charge that curtly listened to me did tell me to enjoy the Sammie! It was at best average or better. The Italian was really salty and I'm a sodium addict!!! Placed on a basic ciabatta style hamburger bun. The roast beef was boring but pretty good. It was worthwhile but wouldn't go out of my way for it. After 25$ including a 3$ tip I'm not in a hurry to go back but it was great to try and really probably the best highway lunch short of lamplight food you will find on this stretch of the island. I'm really impressed with their small pantry Including Asian specialty sauces I usually buy in Kent or the Seattle CID and other offerings. Didn't look at prices but it's something I might go to when our local pantry is short and I don't want to drive to saars in oak harbor. Looking forward though to what they might bring if they can ever rebuild the store building.

Based on the reviews, I suspect the food is great. That's why we went there, but unfortunately, it didn't work out. We found the deli a bit confusing, the staff not very helpful and the turnaround time on getting a sandwich was 40 minutes. Took a pass.

You'll not find a better sandwich on the island. Or pretty much anywhere within two hours drive. Even then, there might be fighting' words; they do a mean sammich here, and people drive miles and wait patiently (usually) to get it. It's small, hot and fragrant inside. There's often a line out the door. There's a good reason for that. Their grocery selection is worth a look, too. Not your typical convenience grocer. Excellent imports, gourmet ingredients and local breads, essential produce and dairy, with a thoughtfully curated beer, wine and cider selection are all shoe-horned into this wee shop. Not to be missed. Tip: Call and order ahead for lunch. Get a pickle with your sandwich...but mind you, they are huge, so share maybe. You were warned.

A delicious stop for a sandwich if you are willing to wait! We came late on a Saturday afternoon thinking we'd be after the lunch rush. Though it didn't look too busy we were told the wait would be about an hour. I think many locals place orders online and come for pick up. We walked through the weed shop next door and then waited outside at a table. Was quite hot in the sun and would have been nice to have a shade option. Just when we were convinced the wait was not worth it, our sandwiches were ready. I had a delicious Ruben that was fresh and tasty. The Italian sandwich was great as well. Would be happy to eat here again but only for a pick up order

Whoa what the?! This place is truly a diamond in the middle of whidbey--best meal of a 2 week PNW trip and frankly mine was the best sandwich I've ever had in my life (including muffaletta at central grocers in New Orleans--maybe tied with that one!). Yes they move like concrete drying and it takes forever to get your order but--can't believe I'm saying this--worth every single second of the wait. Mine was Jersey with added mayo and giadinera (omg) and hubs had Rueben and son had roast beef blue cheese extra horsey sauce--epic all around. Run don't walk and if you're lucky enough to live close by--enjoy it for us as we're pining for it across the country!

this place was a 10/10! Quick customer service, so many delicious sandwich options to choose from, and the side of pickles were amazing. We got the Mr. Steph and the Jersey-- great sandwiches on fluffy bread. Cute picnic table outside to sit at and enjoy your food!

Excellent lunches! Sweet energetic staff. Try it! We had the mac n cheese and the pot pie, plus apple pie. Crust on pie was perfect, and apple filling delicious.

Terrific gourmet sandwich shop--when we're too tired to cook or want something simple for dinner, we rely on our friends at Greenbank Pantry to assemble their delicious sandwiches on fresh, homemade bread. A Hidden in plain sight gem on Whidbey Island on the main highway in the tiny town of Greenbank. Along with the post office and a weed shop and the bakery owned by the same folks, it's pretty much Greenbank, ust south of the Greenbank Farms complex/dog park . The sandwiches are amazing- on par with anything in the Seattle area. The Rueben, Tuna Melt, and Nomad are some of our favorites. The fresh bread they use from island bakeries really makes their sandwiches special, and you can buy several varieties in the store. Call ahead because they're almost always backed up with orders especially on Friday and Saturdays. For those of you that are gluten-free you can get any of their sandwiches as a salad as well. And the tiny pantry store is stocked with everything you would need to make a gourmet meal with while on your weekend Island vacation.

Best sandwiches EVER!! Friendly people- I sometimes go in just for a coffee and the amazing scent of whatever they are creating. They also have distinctive choices in grocery/pantry items. Love this place!!

Good deli sandwiches. They had a half hour wait when we arrived shortly after 11. Next time we will call ahead to avoid the wait. The Reuben and the Mushroom Melt were both delicious.

Had a great muffuletta here. There are gourmet grocery items and a first class deli. They serve good coffee too. Recommend you call your order in ahead of time.

You know that feeling when you bite into a sandwich and you think you might have died and gone to heaven? That is the feeling I got when the flavors of the Italian sandwich hit my taste buds. The tuna sandwich was very good too. If you like tuna sandwiches this version is expertly made with the highest quality ingredients and amazing bread. You will not be disappointed. The Italian, on the other hand, is in a league of its own! Great flavors happening that I would be extremely hard pressed to recreate at home. I can't wait to come back and try their other options but it will be hard to pass up the Italian!

Stopped here during an airbnb stay. I'm so sad that I'm from New York because I can't get this sandwich again!!! One of the best Italian sandwiches I have ever had! My party tried a whole bunch of their sandwiches and there were nothing but compliments around the table! Recommend you stop here for a bite to eat !

First time visit, and so glad I did. Best sandwich I've had in forever. My wife and I shared the Italian. Loaded with unique flavors, delicious bread, good size portion. Little store filled with good things to add - chips, drinks, chocolate, etc, too. No smiles from the staff and the person at the register wasn't the friendliest guy in town, that's for sure, but who cares, right? We came for the food, not to make friends. I will definitely be back many times.

Food is great! But trying to preorder and being told that the sandwiches would take an hour was just unreasonable. That is definitely a damper on the experience.

This is a great place for lunch. The bread is freshly baked, and the ingredients are fresh and tasteful.

Delicious. So so good. Both the TBA and Italian sandwiches were delicious, only recommendation for TBA is to toast the bread a little bit so it holds together a bit more, but it was amazing regardless. The store had lots of high quality options to choose for drinks and pantry items - Martinelli's apple juice, Bob's Red Mill Oats, Siete hot sauce. They had a few veggie sandwich options too, which is a nice touch. Patio is perfect to gobble your food on a sunny day. 5/5 highly recommend

Small-ish store with fairly friendly staff. Came in while vacationing on Whidbey, mostly because we wanted to get the Oystercatcher molasses bread. They had it and so we were pleased. The pies they carry from Whidbey Pies are overpriced compared to getting it from the actual store itself. Limited produce. Mostly lots of chocolates and jams, seems fairly tourist oriented. Not exactly the best place to stock up on groceries.

The best deli sandwiches on the island, bar none! Even the baked goods are worthy of a stop. They get very busy around lunchtime.

Food was amazing. Veggie reuben was delish, the way the ingredients combined into this perfectly hot and saucy mess was heaveny. Grill on the bread was great too. Everyone enjoyed what they got, will make this a tradition when passing through.

This is a go out of your way place. Incredible sammies bursting with flavor and also some quality grocery selections. We literally plan Whidbey Island trips around Greenbank's schedule to ensure we don't miss out on the opportunity to enjoy one of the best sandwiches in all the land.

I can't recommend this deli more! The mushroom melt ended up being my favorite sandwich I have ever had and even my husband agreed. The quality of the ingredients used in these sandwiches will bring me back to this place as often as possible.

Absolutely charming. This shop and deli is tiny, adorable, and somehow has a little of everything! The owners are friendly locals who are down to share a little knowledge about the products they carry. Great wine selection, Italian specialty foods, and sustainable household goods. The deli is wonderful with freshly baked bread and sliced-to-order meats and cheeses.

I love sandwiches. This place is AWESOME! So far I've tried the Jersey and the Mr. Steph. Both were amazing. Spot on flavor combinations, which is the reason I love a good sandwich. Pantry offerings are carefully curated. I've bought some tasty local tea and surprisingly, sport peppers! (You'll only know what sport peppers are if you're from the Chicago area. They are very tasty, and you shouldn't eat a hotdog without them.) Can't wait to work my way through the menu. Tomorrow...the mushroom melt, if it's still a special.

I took two out-of-town visitors here for sandwiches on a quick auto tour of the southern part of the island. This place was recommended to us by the folks at Greenbank Farms, so I had high expectations. I have to say the sandwiches were quite good, with generous portions of meats and veggies. Unfortunately the attitude from the counter crew was less than friendly, with passive aggressive questions about what we were ordering and warnings about the length of wait - it was actually okay - we had the time. I think the thing that really turned me off from this place was the callous and unfriendly attitude of the cashier and folks behind the counter. After dropping over $60 for three sandwiches and a bag of chips it would be nice to have a pleasant greeting and smile.

It's really hard to come in there relatively often, as a part time resident of Greenbank, and be treated as an inconvenience while I spend $6.25 on a half gallon of milk. That I could get anywhere else for less...but we like to support you. Be nice to your customers and the community that most supports you. Pretty easy...and simple. Is it that hard to ring up my milk?

We keep coming back here, and working down the menu has been a slow process because every time we try new sandwiches we get hooked and reorder those instead of trying something new. The sandwiches are packed full without being messy, and always super tasty. The samurai, reuben, TBA, Jersey, Nomad - all fantastic. Lately we've been digging the Mr. Steph and Whidbey Tuna. Sorry, no photos to share - only crumbs left!

Really good, fresh deli sandwiches. They don't skimp! We've tried the RBB, Reuben and a regular roast beef. All were very good and the pickles are real deli pickles. Yum! Nicest group of staff, also. During this COVID period, I'm being extra cautious. They brought the food outside and left it on the table so I could approach with minimal contact. Very considerate!

Upscale convenience store and deli. Lots of thought put in to how they stock their shelves. It's small but they have so much good stuff! Great coffee too!
