It has been a year since we stayed at Greenhorn Ranch, and looking back it deserves a stellar review. We spent an amazing 4 days there. I am not a horse rider, but I did a intro trail ride which was a blast and incredibly fun. My wife has an equestrian background took several rides and had an incredible time rekindling her past. Along the way we had a wonderful time on the archery adventure with a fantastic instructor, amazing food from the chef, bingo night in the saloon, line dancing, whiskey tasting, pool, shuffle board and plenty of time in the pool with a stunning backdrop. While there, the owner arrived and he was fantastic. This is truly a labor of love and he sat with the small groups of people staying there and inspired everyone with his enthusiasm. He really cared, and it was obvious that this is a pet project intended to create memories and it did. The entire staff from the chef to the top stable manager and excursion crew were top notch. It truly is a special place.

My family and I (8 in total), visited Greenhorn Ranch last weekend. Each of us had an oustanding time. I wish I could give them 10 stars!! Greenhorn Dude Ranch is an outstanding family adventure! The staff members are amazing. Each of our activity guides was an expert in their field - knowledgeable, patient, and skilled at teaching us in our chosen event (fly fishing, skeet shooting, archery, etc.). The facilities are pristine and the food is excellent. The staff genuinely care about their guests and their teammates. Hands down this is one of the best family adventures I've ever had!!

Google
This was our getaway choice. We spent 4 days at this beautiful ranch, and there’s so much to do! They offer a variety of activities like archery, horseback riding, skeet shooting, and more (note: most activities come at an additional cost). There are also fun, free options like cornhole, horseshoes, and other lawn games. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, which really added to the experience. The common area is super cozy—you can hang out by the fireplace, play board games, or even join a poker night. There are also plenty of trails nearby if you’re into hiking. Our room was okay—it could definitely use a bit more creativity in the decor. The bathroom, especially the shower, was quite small, so if you’re a bigger person, that might be a bit of a squeeze. Great place to reset and relax or hangout with the kids. The only real downside was the food—it lacked the care and flavor we were hoping for. It wasn’t terrible, but it could definitely use a little more love.

Google
This place is truly spectacular. Our family spent memorial day long weekend at the ranch and had a blast. They have activities for everyone led by amazing teachers for the 12+ great and spectacular care givers for the under 12 group. While you aren't doing activities you can enjoy the grassy field, the fishing hole or relax by the pool. The food is delicious and they go the extra mile to accommodate everyone. The rooms aren't luxurious, but they are comfortable. We will definitely be going back again next year and hope to make it a family tradition.

My family of ten just came home from a wonderful stay at Greenhorn Ranch. The first time we took our young son and daughter was there was 35 years ago. This time we were back with our kids, who are now parents themselves, and our four grand children. The adults all agreed that it was just as wonderful an experience as the first time. The grandkids, ages five, eight, ten and twelve, all agreed that this was, most definitely, one of the best family vacations we've taken (it even beat out our trip to Italy last year!) The staff members were all very friendly, warm, and accommodating. The activities, like horse back riding, skeet shooting, archery, fly fishing, and bike riding were all really fun. Our favorite evening activities were line dancing, | karaoke, and of course making smores by the campfire. If you are considering a family vacation, our family would highly recommend Greenhorn Ranch, where there is something fun and interesting for everybody each day!

Google
Everything about this place is breathtaking. The food was absolutely amazing. Every member of the staff goes above and beyond to assure you will have the best time. The rooms themselves are comfortable and spacious. There are activities every night and the atmosphere is always amazing. I would recommend this place for families, couples, groups of friends, company retreats and it would be a beautiful place to get married.

I went to Greenhorn Ranch over Memorial Day weekend with a group of friends for a birthday celebration and we had the best time ever!! Not only is the scenery absolutely beautiful—the mountains, ponds, horses, etc.—but everything about this place feels like a true western getaway. The staff treated us like family, the food was amazing, and they had activities every day and night. We did horseback riding, archery, skeet shooting, fishing, line dancing, and when we weren’t signed up for an activity, there were plenty of other things to do at the saloon, game room, outside, or in the area. The rooms were also clean and cozy. Highly recommend to anyone as there’s much to enjoy from all ages.

Google
This ranch experience was AMAZING!! They had so many different activities to choose from. My friends and I road horses, went fishing, laid under the stars, played pool and other games in their saloon, shot recurve bows, went swimming, ate the best food ever, listened to stories around campfire, etc. The staff couldn’t have been better and everything on the ranch was super clean. I’ve been to several ranches throughout the US (we love nature) and this was by far my favorite. Highly recommend!!!!

Yelp
I booked my trip to Greenhorn Ranch over six months ago. My daughter wanted to visit a dude ranch for her graduation trip. I started out a bit cynical about the high pricing per day per person of all the dude ranches I investigated and drove to Greenhorn probably in more of a negative skeptical headspace than I should have. If you read any of my reviews you will see that I'm also a tough customer and critical but fair reviewer. So when I say that if I could I would give this place TEN STARS, take that to heart. It's in an absolutely dreamlike location, a 60 acre ranch dropped in the middle of a 500,000 acre idyllic forest with over 60000 acres of accessible trails. The place is laid out like a small western town with saloon and chuck house to eat. The rooms were surprisingly stylish comfortable and well appointed. The shower had great pressure and hot water and our creekside cabins sat on the stream with a view. The food is basic, ribs and chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers for lunch but that what I like and I will say everything including the steaks were well flavored and cooked perfectly. Is the place overpriced. Yes but I would gladly and happily return so I guess it's worth it. I've been to many horse riding places including Arizona and Wyoming and I have never seen healthier or more beautiful well cared for horses anywhere. There were over 60 horses and literally every single one was magnificent and well trained. They also carefully review your preference and skill sheets and make sure to find you the perfect horse both to match your skill level and desire. I always wanted to ride a paint like Little Joe from Bonanza and when I got to the corral for my first ride there was a stunning paint with blonde mane and blue eyes waiting for me. The rides are indescribable with valleys and vistas and mountains and it's more like exploring the frontier than a typical nose to tail operation. THE STAFF: I don't know where to begin. The office staff including and especially Stella and the kitchen folks and every single person we met was welcoming warm kind friendly and charming . And genuine. They made us feel like family and we made fast friends some my daughter may have made for life . I have never been anywhere including luxury 5 star resorts with a better staff or better service . The wranglers including Kadence, Katie, Avery, Jim (Sebastian) and Adrian were actual genuine cowboys, incredible skilled riders and wranglers, consummate professionals who put safety first while making every ride more enjoyable and memorable than the last. Troy the bartender was fun and funny smart and entertaining and a hell of a mixologist. He made me custom creations better than any I've had in upscale clubs and restaurants in NYC. One day I was out by the pond and as I drained my water glass he appeared with a water pitcher and a towel over his arm like a sommelier pouring me wine . He said "more water sir?" The whole thing was a joke and we shared a laugh. My 22 old daughter was heartbroken when we left and we have been all over the world and I've never seen her feel that way about anywhere including Maui or Paris. We are planning on going back in October and probably the rest of our lives . Run don't walk to Greenhorn with your whole extended family. Ten Stars!

Yelp
I can't say enough on how amazing Aya and the Greenhorn Ranch staff is! I planned a 4 day, 3 night trip for my company's offsite here. It was rescheduled from last October due to the Dixie Fire, but our 80 person group was so excited when we finally met, stayed, played and ate together at the Ranch. There was a bit of everything for everyone at all skill levels for the guided activities - horseback riding, skeet shooting, archery and electric biking. For those who weren't interested and unable to participate, there were lawn games like corn hole, fishing, people watching on the deck, pool, hiking and more! Food was served 3 meals a day at the same times. Each meal was so delicious! They even kicked off our first dinner with prime rib and ribs then a taco bar and finally spaghetti and meatballs. They hosted evening activities after dinner, which kept our group entertained. From live music, karaoke night and bonfire and s'mores, our group really enjoyed karaoke night, maybe a little too much. Aya and the staff went above and beyond for our group. From bringing a birthday cake and cupcakes to celebrate one of our employee's birthday to mowing down the lawn for a company ceremony we held that night, they truly understood what it meant to host such a special trip for us, without us even asking! Not to forget to mention, they even shuttled our employees from a hotel to the Ranch daily, multiple times a day. They were able to secure a larger vehicle to fit all 12 employees. If you're thinking of hosting a company offsite somewhere, look no further!

Yelp
We ended up here for one night during a fire evacuation. Everyone couldn't have been nicer and the grounds and facilities and food are outstanding. We would love to come back with our family, but it may be out of our budget. It's gorgeous, the horses look so healthy and happy, and everything is picture perfect.

Yelp
Best getaway ever! Not going to lie- a long drive- wasn't sure what we were getting ourselves into. From the moment we pulled up, nothing but positive things to say. The staff, the 600 acres, our room, the food, the bartenders, the activities, the other guests. Great getaway, so glad we did it, soooo worth it- so sad we are returning to real life off the ranch.

Yelp
The greenhorn ranch was an interesting getaway to say the least. Where should I begin? Let's start with the room. For my beautiful wife and I we booked a creekside cabin suite. Not much of a suite that's for sure. Greenhorn Ranch website fails to state is that the suites are split and shared with other people. The walls are so thin we could hear the other people using the bathroom & showering and them having intercourse. Let's move on from the beyond terrible "suites" situation. The second day we booked E-bikes with a lady named Nicole. A beautiful blond girl with endless energy who loves being outdoors. Having her as our guide was the best part of our trip! She knew everyone and everything about the local area a true treat indeed! The E-bikes had the absolute worst seats on them and made the experience a lot less enjoyable. My wife booked a horseback ride in the afternoon and since I am a bigger person I could not ride the horses so I did the gold panning also with Nicole. My wife enjoyed her horseback time with sweat pea and I learned a lot about gold panning from Nicole. The afternoon was so much better than the morning E-bikes! That evening they had a paint and sip style event which was fun but for the price of being there one would think the alcohol would be included but it's not. They didn't have my favorite beer which was very disappointing. If you all out there are reading this and wondering what my favorite beer is it's obviously the Broken Skull Ranch 3:16 lager & IPA. The beer promoted by Stone Cold Steve Austin. If you all have not tried it I highly recommend it! Back to the review. I forgot to mention the food. Breakfast is absolutely amazing and very delicious! The waffles are obviously the best part of breakfast! Lunch was served it was ok nothing special and dinner was disastrous to say the least. Let me explain this one. Before you even show up at the ranch they send an email saying what are you allergic too and stuff like that. I made sure to put in capital letters so they would not miss it that I am allergic to all shellfish. So dinner comes around on the second night and what do they serve? That's right shellfish! They also had steak but they put them right next to each other with people using the same utensils to put them on their plates. Since I didn't want to have an allergic reaction I ended up having a cold bowl of cereal for dinner. Very disappointing indeed! That night they also had a fire with s'mores making. That was really enjoyable with the view of the lake it was a great evening indeed. The next day we had breakfast which was incredible once again. Then we packed up said our goodbyes to Nicole and everyone and we left. I am giving them 2 stars because of Nicole. She is awesome and highly recommended by my wife and I if you all go here. If it wasn't for Nicole this place would have been one and your done type of place. If Nicole ever reads this thank you for making everything a lot better!! You truly are awesome and made this experience a lot better that's for sure!

Yelp
I was lucky enough to get engaged at the Greenhorn last week. Not a single criticism comes to mind. The location, atmosphere, Airstream lodging, activities, saloon and food were all absolutely perfect. They do not miss a single detail. I not only felt like a guest while here, but we got to spend time with the staff and felt like family. The entire team knew about the surprise proposal and went above and beyond to make it a dream come true for me. We already miss everyone .... and especially Wiley and Irish. Heres to hoping for a Greenhorn wedding in the future;)

Yelp
We came for July 4th weekend and had a great family vacation! Everything was wonderful from the help and info planning our trip and every single staff member we interacted with. We had an amazing time horseback riding, skeet shooting, hatchet throwing and we even had the chance to go to a local July 4th rodeo. The wranglers were awesome and a ton of fun. They were so friendly and it was great that many hung out at dinner and the evenings. It's an amazing place where there's really a sense of community including with all the guests. We met so many wonderful families, some of which had been coming for almost 2 decades! There were many activities throughout the day including ping-pong, playing pool or swimming in the pool. Even karoake and line dancing in the evenings. The food was also great with a daily changing menu. We loved our time there, everyone we met was awesome and we really can see why families come back every year and we hope to as well!

Yelp
Haven't been to Greenhorn in a while, but it did not disappoint. Food has improved and even my foody wife loved it! The kids got to fish and ride in this unreal paradise!!! Don't forget the saloon which is a great spot to end your day.

Yelp
Hurry...don't walk, run and book your stay. We are so sad to be leaving this beautiful and welcoming ranch! From the moment we arrived we felt welcomed. The team is amazing! Friendly, warm, and welcoming. Chef Brian and his culinary team whip up delicious and fresh meals daily (breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included in your stay. Head wrangler Amelia and her team lead horseback rides through some of the best forest land in California. They but you at ease and you feel like your riding with old friends. I can't say enough about how wonderful this place is! We are definitely returning and staying longer.

Yelp
My husband and I (plus four friends) recently spent three nights at the ranch. Enjoyed every minute! The activities (horseback riding, archery, e-bikes, skeet shooting, pond fishing) we're all so fun; hard to pick my favorite. The guides were very friendly and helpful. The food was solid and plenty of it. The accommodations are nice and clean. The nighttime events (line dancing, karaoke, painting) we're surprisingly fun. My take away from our time was that the hospitality was what really stood out and the communal activities give you a chance to talk with the other guests and makes this place a really special experience.

Yelp
What an ABSOLUTELY wonderful place. Ideally you take "the long way" hwy 70 in during the afternoon for GORGEOUS scenic sun setting views up the canyon, windy but worth it as you go through fun tunnels like you're in Yosemite. Next Pass through the quiet quaint town of Quincy to stock up on any forgotten supplies and boom 10 minutes later you're at the ranch. First; Wonderful staff; nice happy and fun. Next; Clean well equipped facilities with amazing meals and peaceful environments with countless activities like horseback riding, guided electric bicycle tours on the miles of trails around the property, fishing right on the property! HEATED POOL! And much more. I've been here I believe 5 times now and every time it gets better as they're always adding more things to make it sweeter it seems. But This place is A MUST visit if you're a fan of peace, quiet, and nature but prefer the finer sides of life. They Even has a 220 plug right out front for my electric car to charge while I stay. Wifi for some movie downloads. A Stocked! fridge with all alternative variations of milks for oatmeal / coffee - fresh fruits! I could go on and on but I don't want to sound scripted here. But seriously 5 star. Get out and enjoy this place you WILL NOT regret it. Great for the family or romantic getaways.

Yelp
Absolutely Hands Down best experience we have ever had on vacation!!!! And we have traveled extensively. Food was mouthwatering every meal breakfast, Lunch and dinner. Staff was A1 professionals and Super Friendly. We did E Mountain Bike Tour Jacob our guide was awesome so experienced and just a blast as tour guide and giving us tips on how to ride so dang fun. We also went horseback riding, most beautiful horses and such a well trained staff always making sure we were comfortable so enjoyable. Our cabin was right on a beautiful stream so relaxing enjoying our coffee in the morning on our porch hearing the stream. I can't say enough good things bout Greenhorn Ranch. Take your family you will not be disappointed.

Shay M.

Yelp
I took my children here for three nights, four days and we so hoped for more. There really were so many great things, and they have such potential, but I feel we really got the short end. As my kids said, we have one really great day (but we were there for three). Our second day was a significant disappointment, and you cannot participate in any of the guided activities the day you come. We booked the grand adventure, which was to have one activity in the morning and one in the afternoon. Unfortunately, Thursday is the day most of the staff have off. We sat around all day with our only activity starting at 4:00pm - a horse ride to dinner and back - which was a ton of fun. Our morning activity was listed as fishing (which is free and available at any time) and yard games (which never occurred). I just wish we would have gotten what we paid for (and were so excited to do), two activities per day. Check the daily activities before you book. I wish I would have planned our vacation around their activity schedule so we could have ridden horses (or e-bikes, archery or skeet shooting) for the full two days we were there and not just sat around all day. I paid $7,000 for a day and half-ish of horseback riding. The staff was great, and the Wranglers were amazing, it just isn't worth the price for what you get.

Yelp
If you go off season (before May 1), there is no dining room and no people. Great for an isolated trip. Also, here in 2023, they are still implementing COVID protocols, including masks warn by servers, outside dining only (brrrr ) with tables 6 feet apart. It is California, after all, but this won't make for any communal experience or feeling, which is what we're after when taking a trip like this. Check out McGinnis Meadows, outside of Kalispell Montana. It's all horse, little else, but a WONDERFUL experience all around.

Josie M.

Yelp
We came here about a year ago and loved just about everything at this ranch. The activity guides were amazing the whole family was so impressed with Jacobs team. The kiddie coral girls were wonderful with the kids and keeping them engaged. We loved the horse back rides and all the cowboys and cowgirls, the food was amazing and so on and so on but I am giving them a low score because of the way management treated many of their staff. It almost seemed like they thought their employees were machines and we often heard them talking about how the staff shouldn't be sitting down. Employees should be able to have a quick sit down every once in a while, they are people too after all.

Anne B.

Yelp
Wow!!!! This place is truly special!!! We held our family company meeting here for 5 nights and Greenhorn knocked of out of the park! The FOOD! Is AMAZING! Every meal! They catered to my picky 6 year old eater too! The staff! Jacob is the best guide on bikes, on trails, on slip'n'slides! You name it! The staff was overly friendly and helpful! They made us all feel at home! There was always something fun to do from ages 6-80!! Next, the views! Gorgeous views! The sounds from the creek that flows through the property lull you to sleep at night. Nicole was an amazing host and beautiful singer! Kaiya and Elizabeth were great with the littles, especially my wild one! During down time we all swam in the pool with views! The pool was always clean and the staff helped us set up a volleyball. It's going to be really hard to leave today! We have made lifelong memories on this trip! I HIGHLY recommend visiting Greenhorn Ranch!

Bonnie D.

Yelp
We were excited to find this place last night. We are limited for restaurants in Graeagle now so it was a real pleasure to find this place. The staff was welcoming and attentive. Our NY steaks were cooked perfectly (I like my steak rare and cold in the middle which means it's usually over cooked). It's open to the public during their off season which ends April 30th and then it's only open to guests staying at the Ranch. The bar was really cool- pool tables and a stage for music. We wished that it was open to the public too. We will be back before April 30th!

Yelp
We want to thank the Owners for the remarkable experience we had at Greenhorn Ranch this past week. Resort style summer camp!! From reading reviews, we were aware of the special qualities and amenities of the ranch before we arrived but were delighted by the warm and friendly treatment we received from the staff, the excellent cuisine, the stately lodge with huge stone fireplace and the gorgeous surroundings. The staff was helpful, knowledgeable and competent. We were immediately impressed by your Director of Activities Jacob Walke, who we soon came to consider a friend. Enhanced by his academic background in the field of recreation and in-depth study of native horticulture, was his magnetic personality and gift of truly caring about our personal interests and what would make us happy We promised Jacob that we would return with our extended family as soon as we could! We were reassured that Zeke Aubrey, the Range Master, was extremely qualified and we enjoyed interesting conversations with him. High end Chef Jamie West was a treasure, creating the most delicious meals and quick to offer mouth watering freshly baked cookies to the guests to take with them to their cabin. Meal times were a treat and something we looked forward to. And Joe, wrangler and storyteller who is somewhat of a legend at the ranch, left us with memories of sitting around the bonfire while he played guitar and sang of the cowboys of the past. Our time filled with activities such as riding the trails on horseback, fly fishing, E-bike riding in the forest, shooting skeet and making new friends was balanced with serenity and relaxation. Cocktails before dinner with total immersion into the beauty and peace of the pines and mountains is unparalleled. We will be back! Laurie and Dixon

Yelp
Wow! One of our best family vacations ever! Beautiful surroundings, delicious food & friendly staff made for a really good time but to add to that was the variety of activities for my family (Husband, Wife & 1-Teenage son and 2-Teenage Daughters) to choose from: Horseback riding, fly-fishing, awesome game room, motorized mountain bikes, skeet shooting, archery and the best family-friendly saloon with karaoke! We will be back soon!!!!

Yelp
Greenhorn Ranch is a step back in time and a true escape. You are surrounded by warm hospitality and people (both guests and staff) who look you in the eye instead of being buried in their phones. There is no cell service, but there is wi-fi available in a few spots. But I suggest you set your devices down and feel that relief of being unplugged. THE ROOMS We stayed in a cabin that I would call rustic elegance. Not fancy, but clean and very comfy beds and pillows. It was so quiet that I slept in every morning, and I never sleep in. I truly had some of the best rest I've had in a long time. I also found that we spent very little time in our cabin because the outdoor and gathering spaces were so enjoyable. For my next trip, I want to fill the lodge with friends and family. THE FOOD AND BEVERAGE If you get a chance to visit with Chef Scott Burns, you'll know that he's passionate about food. Sourcing ingredients from close to the ranch is important to him and that shows in the quality and freshness. We had family style, outdoor barbeque, and an elevated plated meal. My favorite meal was riding horses into the woods where we were served perfectly grilled steak, scallops, and veggies. Each meal had an assortment of items available so even picky eaters and people with dietary restrictions can put a plate together. The creative signature cocktails and mocktails in the saloon were some of the best combos I've ever had. It's hard to pick a favorite, but the Spicy Sonyarita rose to the top. Naomi is a friendly and skilled mixologist. THE RIDES I am known for my catch phrase 'that's not safe'. You would think that riding horses deep into the woods, crossing streams, and counting the bear and wildcat tracks would have me headed for the barn. Thanks to the amazing wranglers and sweet herd of horses, riding through the Lost Sierra will live in my memory forever. Thomas and Jill were expert guides, giving us tips along the way as we wound our way through the beautiful scenery. THE STAFF The people who welcome you to Greenhorn Ranch are the heart of this place. They are attentive, genuine, caring, and make you feel like you are at home. It is not often that you leave a place felling like you have gotten to know so many people. Visiting with the GM, Jill she has a vision for growth, focusing on the guests, caring for the staff, connecting with the community, and making this dude ranch one that people come back to again and again. I'm already planning my next trip. GRATITUDE Thank you for hosting us - Jill, Cedar, Thomas, Clair, Aya, Scott, Dannella, Aya, Tyson, Naomi, Chase, Cynthia, Marty, Teffany, Chuck... What I needed more than anything on this trip was to have some time to be still. Napping in a hammock with my hubby. Morning coffee on the lawn while we watch the resident eagle hunt for fish in the pond. Making memories with best friends. Coming home to the horrors on the news and the tech distractions has me longing to go back. I know Greenhorn Ranch is there for a reset button whenever I need it.

Yelp
The best family vacation we have been on. Allie helped us out when we ran into some issues on our road trip getting there. Denella made our mornings at breakfast. Cole cheffed up some amazing food. Wranglers Joe, Chase, Carter, Sidney, Jane and Cameron took us on the best trail rides and the horses were great for all levels of riders. Keegan hosted is in the saloon, serving us the best drinks from CapriSuns and Shirley Temples for the kids, to yummy mocktails and cocktails. The staff made us feel like friends and family. The kids had more fun leather crafting, painting fishing, campfires, s'mores, running around and playing at the pond and game room. We can't wait to plan our next trip!!

Yelp
We had the best time at Greenhorn! My husband booked a surprise get away for my birthday and I couldn't have been happier. The owner surprised us with a private trail ride and hid a bottle of champagne for us to enjoy by the scenic river outlook! Greenhorn has a special energy, you'll feel at home right away and a sense of peace being surrounded by so much greenery and mountains. The staff was highly accommodating and made sure we had a smile on our faces all day. We filled our days with wonderful activities - from archery, to trail riding, to skeet shooting and hiking along the mountain ridge line with our dog. It was the perfect getaway and we are so thankful we found this magical place! We will be back.

Yelp
Howdy, not rowdy. Yeehaw, not shawnana So much fun, what a great getaway for family and friends. Normally, my reviews are puns and in good spirit, they reflect the spirit of the environment of the establishment. This review, deserves a moment of respect and acknowledgement. If you come stay here, (be it a wedding, anniversary, celebration, or simply a vacation), you will leave here rejuvenated and enhanced. Words lack the value this land, and the people working here, have to give to you. If you read one of my many well respected reviews, and take only one as something that motivates you to take action, this is the first one you should seriously focus in on. Cheers to those of you that take my lead and come have a spectacular memory having stayed here. All the Best, Pepe

Yelp
What a fun evening, from archery, swimming, horseback riding, wagon rides, fishing at the lake and actually catching something, bonfire and s'mores what more could a kid ask for. The new managing director Jill Rivoli has really put her touches on this place. It's clean, staff is very friendly, and Naomi at their great bar makes a mean cocktail. We went to the Friday night BBQ open to folks who aren't staying Directly at the Ranch. It's a throw back from days gone by. It was so nice to see kids running around and having a good time and mingling with their parents and not their phones. It's a hidden gem and it's worth it.

Yelp
The Greenhorne Guest Ranch is a lovely pet-friendly place to stay & reconnect with nature. It's not anything like a standard chain hotel. No TV or computer connections. Wifi was spotty at best. This is a true ranch experience. Horses, a small lake, large green lawn area--even in the drought--an abundance of fresh air & a dinner bell to announce supper time. I wasn't expecting the "ranch experience" as my intent was to just find a pet-friendly hotel near my work site. But I was pleasantly surprised when I awoke to such a lovely site where my dog & I could play & explore. My only reason for giving the ranch 4 stars is because when I arrived late, 9:30 pm, my room smelled like a toxic fumigation had just taken place & the smell made me nauseous. I had to put my dog's bed in the bathroom to reduce her exposure to the smell & I had to keep both windows open all night with the fan blowing just so I could breathe. The staff had left me my keys & paperwork at the front counter since they had already gone home for the evening. No one was available to change my room. I almost checked out in the morning, but my puppy enjoyed the location so much, I just pushed through the toxic smell, which lasted through the next night. I would like to note the staff is exceptionally nice & helpful. The grounds are well maintained and the food is good. Great location for kids. Signs indicated that my puppy should be on her leash, but she was well-controlled & we played on the grass with no complaint. The cost was reasonable for the high season & the pet fee was an additional $10.00/night.

Yelp
My best friend and her family have stayed here several times to take advantage of the dude ranch vacation experience. When I started looking for a wedding venue, my best friend said she thought Greenhorn did weddings so I checked them out...and I'm so glad I did! The wedding prices are so reasonable and the staff is very helpful in trying to accommodate a payment plan that works for you. Cynthia was our wedding planner and made our wedding planning process and wedding day such an enjoyable experience. She knows how to listen to the bride's vision and execute it. The entire staff was extremely friendly - my wedding guests couldn't stop talking about how nice they are! And of course, the horses released at the end of the wedding ceremony is certainly something worth doing. Guest were in awe! Food was fantastic, cabins were quaint and well appointed. Would very much recommend Greenhorn as a wedding venue and we will certainly be returning for family vacations in the future.

Yelp
I drove up from Los Angeles to GreenHorn Ranch (with my family of 6) to meet my brothers family from Philadelphia for his 50th birthday. We had an excellent time, the staff was extremely attentive, the cabins/rooms were clean, food was great and their was plenty of options for activities. The Ranch caters to all guests, you do not have to be an accomplished horseback rider or outdoors man to enjoy the activities/amenities. I highly recommend the GreenHorn Ranch for families with kids of all ages.

Yelp
We recently spent a week at the ranch and it was such wonderful experience. Our main interest was to get high quality horseback riding and we were not disappointed. We have done several similar trips at a different ranch in southern California and the experience at Greenhorn was so much superior. The wranglers were really outstanding. They got to know us as riders and were thoughtful about matching our interests and abilities to the right horse, great trail choices and the skill level of the riding experience with plenty of opportunities to trot and lope if you had the ability. They were eager to give tips to improve your riding. The horses were really well trained and responsive and you were able to ride the same horse every day if you wished. I can't say enough about the quality of the riding. Outside of the riding there were fun outdoor activities done really well including skeet shooting, archery, fly fishing and hatchet throwing. Jacob was the activities leader and he managed to give really great instruction to increase our skill levels while making the experience a blast with his sweet and funny personality. The lodging was not fancy but was clean and comfortable with plenty of room. The meals were delicious and always with plenty of choices. Everyone at the ranch was so friendly treating you like family and everyone working there clearly loved the place and their work, and it showed. We loved everything about Greenhorn. We are definitely going to make it a regular annual family trip.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I was there over Labor Day weekend and will continue to make it a yearly holiday destination. I felt like I was at home riding my own horses just hanging out with family and friends. The staff are top notch - authentic, polite, humorous, friendly and accommodating. ( The wranglers do have a job to do so keep that in mind when you're visiting, but they're not any less accommodating and don't worry, there is plenty of time and opportunity to ride horses!) I enjoyed laying out and watching them work their horses and run the barn. This ranch allowed for education into horses and why and how the wranglers do their job - I really liked that and it made me feel even more connected to the ranch and pleased with my experience. I went on this vacation alone (so singles don't be afraid!) and never felt lonely. There are many activities to keep you busy: Fishing, hiking, dancing, swimming, or just kicking it on a hammock and enjoying some down time. I made friends that I'm sure I'll be in touch with for years to come - I can't wait to go back. T.C.

Yelp
We love Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch. Our family comes up every year. There are so many activities for the whole family. My wife and I, and our oldest son are able to go on trial rides. While we are on our rides, our younger kids have a ton of activities. They can do art projects, go fishing, or go to the petting zoo. This is a great place for families to go on vacation. It is so much better than a place like DisneyLand. After spending time here, we feel so relaxed, while at a place like DisneyLand, you can get so easily get overstimulated, overextended and over-exhausted. We would recommend Greenhorn to anyone who wants a great family vacation.

Yelp
My daughter and I enjoyed a great trail ride with wrangler Chuck. He was very personable, and cared about the horses, too. Thank you

Yelp
Well we just had the most fabulous weekend at this ranch! First off the setting is exquisite. We had a cabin with it's only little porch swing and a beautiful view of the creek just a few steps away. The staff was always available and friendly. The food was great and they provided vegetarian options for me at every meal. The pond was stocked with fish which the hubby enjoyed. There were fun activities such as line dancing, games and watching the running of the horses. We will be back for sure!

Yelp
Wholesome, Down Home, Amazing Place!! The people their are worth the trip alone!!! Add on all the fun things they have to do for you and the WHOLE FAMILY and It's worth going up and making a family tradition.

Yelp
A visit to Greenhorn Ranch tends to stick with you in the following days. You'll find your mind wanders to the camaraderie and closeness of sitting on the deck overlooking the horses or in front of a fire with friends new and old, to the breathtaking scenery, running creeks, and scent of pines and cedars from the back of a good horse. The cabins are comfortable and quiet, the food is delicious, the saloon is fun (and Naomi's specialty drinks are wonderful!), the horseback rides are SO fun, and most of all I loved meeting the employees and fellow guests. You quickly become a family here. I miss it already and cannot wait to return.

Yelp
The hospitality at Greenhorn was perfect. The staff and guests were all very warm and friendly. There is plenty to do for kids, and it's a very relaxing environment for adults. Perfect summer vacation spot!

Yelp
We had such a great week at Greenhorn. The ranch is set in the most picturesque, serene green valley surrounded by mountains. I love horses but rarely get the opportunity to ride, so the twice daily trail rides in the beautiful mountains were amazing. The horses are very gentle and well taken care of. The wranglers are wonderful guides and experienced horse people. The food was great. I have a weird diet - vegetarian & gluten free - so I was a little worried about the food situation, but they were extremely accommodating and made sure I had more than enough to eat. All the staff are super nice and really make you feel at home. We were there at the beginning of the season in May and practically had the whole place to ourselves. If you want more fun activities, those start gearing up in June. I definitely look forward to coming back.

Yelp
We just returned from a long weekend at Greenhorn Creek Guest Ranch. We went up for a fundraiser concert featuring our favorite cowboy entertainer, and decided to stay a couple of extra days. We had a ball. GCGR is beautiful. The grounds are maintained well, but it has the comfortable feel of staying at a friend's ranch. We stayed in the Mae West Room (!). It isn't fancy, but it is perfectly comfortable, with a beautifully firm mattress. The staff is unfailingly friendly and helpful. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are served in the cookhouse, and the food is plentiful and delicious. (It isn't fussy. This is a dude ranch, pard.) There's a saloon with an adjoining rec room with poker tables, a couple of pool tables, and a video game. Lots of room to wander, and lots of hiking trails. We went on a horseback trail ride with Ana as our dude wrangler. Her knowledge and love of horses is very impressive. We rode some trails in the forest I would not have attempted myself, but with Ana, we felt safe and were provided stories and horse facts. It was a blast. Prepare to disconnect (mostly) with the outside world: there is no cell phone reception, and there are no televisions in the rooms. The electricity was a little flickery here and there. There is a land line available, though, as well as a computer, and the wi-fi is excellent and free. We were sad to leave, but the real world called. We can't wait to go back for a longer stay.

Yelp
I went with my daughters and SIL last month and it was one of the best vacations we've ever taken! It was beautiful, the pace of the activities was just right for us, kids were entertained and had some separate activities, but we still spent the week together, the food was quite good, the drinks were really great, and the staff was unbelievably wonderful! We ended up staying an extra night, we were having such a good time and couldn't imagine leaving before karaoke night--not to sing but to see staff members who'd become friends. Also, a trip to which we could drive was a huge bonus. And the area, the views from the trail rides, were spectacular. I hope we can go back next year!

Yelp
Just finished a vacation here. Everyone made me feel very welcomed! Didn't even feel like I travelled alone. Had an excellent time, can't wait to bring my girlfriends with me on my next trip. Family style food, campfires, even a saloon for an evening beer. The rooms were styled very cute and comfortable with a rustic charm. And the views at the lodge and from horseback on the mountains were beyond beautiful from horseback!

Yelp
I'm a little concerned about the efficiency of the Greenhorn Ranch. I have ten girlfriends that would like to stay there for at least five days. The first time I called them over a month ago, I asked to please send me more information so that I could submit it to my friends. I gave them my email address, but I never got an answer. I called again and left a message to return my call, but never got an answer. Two weeks ago I called again and spoke with them - I asked to please send me information and even gave them a temporary date. For sure, this time they were going to follow through and get me the info I needed to present it to my friends. As yet, I have not heard a word from them. Would you book a trip at the Greenhorn Ranch with this kind of history? It would make anyone think twice.

Yelp
This is one of the "real things" that I have found in this my three ranches visited. Although I traveled at Greenhorn just at the very end of the season I must say that my long trip from Europe was worth in full letters. I was lodged in the main building in a room that was used by Cary Grant in the past and keeps, as the rest of the ranch the complete flavour of the West. Trish and Ralph, the owners ,as well as Brad, the General Manager, and his wife not forgetting the persons that were in reception,Annete and her collegue and the rest of people that work at Greenhorn are just exceptional. I was a solo traveler this time and I was hosted and treated with such a warm and genuine attitude that was contagious.Even the other guests seemed to me as former school mates. Lunch and dinner time as well as the last drink time were some kind of galactic experience in which even the dog proved to be the best man,s friend. Martin, aka Mardi, the boss in the world of horses at Greenhorn is a master not only in riding skills but also in quality and class on and by the horse. A gentelman in full and a privilege.Riding by Martin is as fascinant as attending the most interesting lecture at The National Geographic Society. The ranch is in a sort of paradise environement within a forest of tall pines and ponderosa pines. I was lucky as to ride under a warm sun and also, after the snow had painted the trails in white the day after. No words to describe such beauty. The ranch has a swimming pool as well as kids area. There is a Saloon in the most authentic western style and a dinning cottage in where wood is the queen of the room. Cook is as should be in a ranch and warm if needed. Both food and company are just great. Trish and Ralph represent the good taste and good education that irradiates the "company culture" of Greenhorn. I have strongly recommend visiting Greenhorn to my son and his family including my two grandchildren at their first oportunity. It has been a real pleasure that I hope to repeat very soon

Yelp
Beautiful place with something for horse lovers and beginners alike who just want to get away. My wife and I spent a weekend at Greenhorn with our son and a friend - teenage boys, who we were tearing away from their computers. The horse rides offered twice a day were perfect for transforming the teenagers and us as well - we felt our worries literally drop from our shoulders as we became relaxed and aware of the beauty of nature around us. Our wranglers were awesome, especially Joe who has been in the saddle for 60 years+ almost every day. You could literally feel his passion for horses at every step. Great halloween party, games room, bar, chuckhouse all rounded out the weekend. Great experience, highly recommended.

Yelp
Great place to relax and have fun! Trish and her staff always went out of their way t make you feel welcome. The food-oh goodness the food. Homemade, fresh food. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, you are filled with yummy goodness! From the hearty breakfasts to the Tri tip dinners....yum! The activities are great-horseback riding, fishing in the pond, horseshoes, all awesome. I plan to come here again!!

Yelp
A friend suggested having Friday evening dinner, which was advertised as "all you can eat ribs and chicken". Because I do not eat pork, I assumed the chicken would be a safe bet. We arrived sufficiently early to find that "all you can eat" meant that I was served one especially sparse chicken thigh. In 15 minutes I presented myself back in line only to be told only 1 even more sparse chicken wing remained and then all the chicken was gone for the evening. Considering there was more than 1 hour serving time remaining for the night, I'm assuming no one after was able to take advantage of any. There were only about 6 tables of people eating. At 115 lbs, I was certainly not planning on putting a serious dent in their offer of "all you can eat" put I consider their buffet change of $25 absurd for what was the equivalent of a '2 piece dark KFC meal'. I said I would not be giving a good review and the serving staff was completely uninterested.

Yelp
We stayed at Greenhorn last month and loved it. The place has a beautiful peace and rhythm to it, enhanced by being out of cell phone range. The horses are well-cared for and gentle, the wranglers are fun and capable, there are rides for riders of all levels and plenty of ways to relax for non-riders, there are enough guests to provide a variety of interactions yet not so many that you feel lost in a crowd, and overall a wonderful calmness to time there. The lodgings and food are simple and comfortable. Yet there's fun, creative, time-tested activities, that make a week there feel like family camp and corny as it sounds, brings some slowness to fast-paced lives that seems like the old days...Like most guests, we booked our visit for next year the day we left (with tears in our eyes).
