This funeral home has been great. They work with you, they are compassionate understanding people. Janice and Jennifer worked with us, helping us put everything together as painless as possible while we are still grieving. They showed their years of experience in this field helping us during this difficult time making me and my fiance feel we weren't alone. They made everything so easy. This is a Beautiful place, feels classy while giving our loved one the respect they deserve. They are warm caring people. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to give a love one dignity and respect during their difficult time.

I cannot begin to express my gratitude for the caring treatment my family and I received during our time of incredible grief. Knowing that during such a sad and stressful time the entire staff at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home were able to make the process (and my many requests) easier which gave us peace and strength.

Greenwich Village Funeral Home is the best to take care of your loved when the time comes. I had the pleasure to work with Jennifer and Joel on two different occasions. They both made the very stressful time very smooth and put me at ease. Their compassion and attention to detail is above anything you will experience. Jennifer helped me in June 2023, when my friend's mother passed and I was placed into the situation of having to take care of her funeral. She helped me through the process with an outstanding viewing and funeral. I then worked with Joel when my friend, a retired NYPD officer, passed in May 2024. He went above and beyond by calling the NYPD to have uniformed officers conduct the funeral of one of their fallen brothers. Both Jennifer and Joel have my full referral for any of your funeral needs they are the greatest!!

Our mother death was unexpected & it left us heart broken & lost. We were left to navigate the process of funeral. The hospital help with list of funerals. The first on list was Greenwich Village Funeral home. When we arrived, Janice with her quiet, friendly & professional demeanor made us feel comfortable. She answered all our questions & we were not rushed in making a decision. She gave us a tour and it made us feel homey. Just what we were looking for. Right up to day of viewing Janice and her coworkers kept us updated Thank you Janice for being there in our time of need.

My mother passed away on Christmas eve, and while most people are planning for their evening festivities, the team at Greenwich Village Funeral home leapt into action to ensure my mother was taken care of and we were able to spend the rest of the evening with family. I would like to give a special mention to Jennifer, who worked with us on the arrangements, and took care of every little detail.

We recently had the pleasure of working with Jared, one of the funeral directors. His professionalism, kindness, and support were genuinely appreciated. Jared handled everything with care and respect, ensuring that the family’s needs and wishes were met without any added stress. His approach was both comforting and respectful. We’re forever grateful for his assistance and highly recommend his services.

Our families would like to thank Greenwich Village Funeral Home, especially Gregory, our Funeral Director, who assisted us every step of the way with my husband's passing . During this difficult time, Gregory's empathy, compassion and understanding and all of the guidance from beginning to end was a true source of comfort. I can't thank him enough for making what has been one of the most difficult times in our lives a little easier. I would highly recommend Greenwich Village Funeral Home to anyone.

Yelp
My mom passed away a year ago, and Joel and the staff at Greenwich Village Funeral Home were so kind and helpful. Someone was always available to answer my call and help me. I really can't thank Joel enough for his patience. He showed me what was available and never pressured me into buying anything. He just guided me through the process, gave me advices, and allowed me to take my time making decisions. I told him what I wanted/needed, and he handled everything.

Yelp
Unfortunately, we lost my father-in-law due to natural causes on May 29th and it was devastating to our family. Dealing with our pain and looking for the perfect funeral wasn't easy but we then found Greenwich Village Funeral Home. Gregory was extraordinary with details and accommodated our every wish. He always made himself available if we had any additional questions or requests. The funeral was beautiful and perfect. No one wants to lose a loved one but I highly recommend Greenwich Village Funeral Home and their staff because they made our last goodbyes a forever lasting honorable memory!

Yelp
I called them during the worst experience of my life, the passing of a loved one. They were kind, transparent with their services, and fair and forthright with pricing. When searching for direct cremation services after the death of a loved one, I called three places in Manhattan. Pricing was comparable but the conversations seemed impersonal, cold, and purely transactional. While I'm sure these other places provide fine services, my call to GV Funeral Home was the first conversation that felt warm and personal. They conveyed condolences (which in my experience was not standard protocol amongst others) and expressed a personal interest in my family's needs. By the time I visited to do our paperwork, I had spoken to multiple individuals at their business who all introduced themselves. My father, an older man, was the next of kin, and they took the time to ensure he understood what he was signing. The same level of care over the phone was further exemplified in person. There are many places that offer this type of service, but dealing with funeral directors Gregory and Jennifer reassured me that I was getting the care my loved one deserved. The exceptional level of service at GV Funeral Home helped alleviate the pressure of what is otherwise an incredibly difficult time.

Yelp
Incredible service, especially considering the backlog of clients in these Covid-9 times. We had ample time and the staff even extended the hours to make time for the late arrival of our Priest. A comfort in every way.

Yelp
This place was wonderful when we really needed it. Our dad passed away unexpectedly and we called Greenwich Village Funeral Home to figure everything out. They were prompt, professional, and supportive. On the day of the event, they were ready early, available for last minute help, adjusting the air as needed, were flexible with music, recommended a great flower shop... just exactly what we needed. Highly recommend. Peter was a gem.

Yelp
I attended a wake here over the weekend for my Aunt. The service here was outstanding - professional, compassionate, efficient. The home was spotless. Everything here was handled perfectly and made a very difficult time a bit more bearable. Highly recommend.

Yelp
I attended a wake here this afternoon. The staff were all very accommodating & extremely pleasant, the interior is very attractive, and everything was handled really beautifully.

Al P.

Yelp
Jennifer made one of life's most painful days into a stressless gathering of friends and family to honor my father. From our first meeting to the evening of the wake she took care of everything so seemlessly. The owner Peter also greeted us the night of the wake and offered his condolences. The venue and service was so beautiful that my Dad was probably looking down to my brother and me and saying "good job boys"! Highly recommend Greenwich Village Funeral Home.

Yelp
If you are reading this review with having to make a decision for the loss of a loved one, My Condolences to you and your family. The Greenwich Village Funeral Home handles the service with a true genuine kindness. Call and speak with the director, Gregory. Immediately you will find comfort in his voice, his words, and a warm sense of security with his knowledge and experience to all your questions. Gregory is so on point with his attention to detail. Not only with the paperwork, I'm saying in regards to your loved one. When it's such an expected loss, you're lost. Gregory will help you in your decision on what your loved one should wear if you haven't a clue. If he wasn't a suit kinda guy why wear that now? He'll ask for recent photos so they can do their best. The day of the service my beloved family members looked like themselves, and so natural and peaceful. The funeral home itself has like a living room before the viewing room, which is nice if you have young children attending. They also have 2 big screens if you want to do a collage of pictures or video. Yes, Gregory will put that together for you as well. I couldn't be happier with the decisions I had to make in my time of loss it was more of a Celebration of Life especially knowing they provided THE BEST OF CARE. Thank you Gregory and Jennifer for your empathy and compassion. Christine T.

Yelp
We were planning for a cremation as our relation was in hospice. We went to several funeral homes in the area, but surprisingly they were either unfriendly, distracted or had other negative aspects. When we came to this place they were friendly, very knowledgeable and helpful , spending much time explaining every bit of information we would need. We signed a contract with them and that was that. Then suddenly on Christmas Eve, our friend passed away. We did not know what to expect as far as reaching them, processing the things that had to be done, etc. What a wonderful surprise to have no problem reaching them...arranging for them to come to the house for the pickup....getting the support we needed at the time. However let me say that the real test was when we went to pick up the ashes. The kindness, the time and understanding, the warmth, that we received was amazing. After chatting and taking care of business we were taken down to a room with urns and other items where we got information about burial, saving ashes, distributing ashes in water and what vessels were available for which. All in all these people were just wonderful. I would deal with them again in an instant. Knowing how dependable they were and how accommodating is peace of mind that is not easy to find. I send them a huge thank you.

Yelp
Today Al Albrizio of C'est Magnifique jewelers on 9th street was laid to rest. He will be sorely missed. The viewing was at this funeral home; it was closed casket. For most of the history of this jewelry store, they were located on MacDougal street, so neighbors from both the East and West villages showed up. I was happy to see that Al was so well-known and well-loved.

Yelp
Amidst the difficult circumstance of losing a dear family member, and during the COVID pandemic at that, working with the professional, experienced and caring individuals at Greenwich Village Funeral Home provided my family with invaluable peace of mind. Within the walls of their beautiful and historic funeral home we were able to provide a service befitting the life of our beloved. A special note for the service of Gregory, who diligently worked with us in the months leading to the expected passing of our beloved, and his colleague Jennifer, who answered our call when the moment came. They were comprehensive in their efforts and guided us through our options during this process, running down answers to our questions when needed. We were able to host a beautiful service, and a once daunting burial and paperwork process has been completed seamlessly.

Yelp
Peter DeLuca and his staff at the Greenwich Village Funeral Home were a huge help to my family during the time of my mother's passing. To say that they were kind, understanding, and professional would be an understatement. They went above and beyond when it came to making arrangements, talking me and my stepfather through the necessary procedures, and simply being there for our family and friends during our time of need. Jennifer, Joel, Janice, and Brandon were absolutely amazing and nothing short of perfect in regards to their work ethic, knowledge, and compassion. They helped with everything from the ceremony planning, to the design of the prayer cards. I was able to compile photos of my mother and a few of her favorite songs and they created a beautiful slideshow set to music which was played during the memorial service. It was excellently produced to say the least. I have nothing but praise for Peter and his staff and could not thank them enough for all that they did for us. Thanks Peter.

Yelp
On September 13 , 2017 5:30 am my mother Lucille passed away. Your never ready for moments like this but I knew I had to call Peter and his staff to inform them of my mothers passing. Immediately Jennifer called me back to make arrangements for us to meet with them . Patiently they went through each detail and they informed me my mother was already in their care. There professionalism and kindness cannot be repaid. Your going through so many emotions at this time you have no idea whats right or wrong. Now that my mind is clear I can think back to that day on how supportive they were. There advice was crucial in helping us make this perfect for our family. We had special requests on how we wanted our mother to look and they surpassed every expectation . Everything was beautifully done with class . Thank you Peter , Jennifer and staff from the bottom of my heart. Christine I

Yelp
A dear friend of mine recently passed away and, as most of his family lives out of the country, it fell upon me to make the final arrangements. Luckily, a friend of mine had used Greenwich Village Funeral Home a few years ago when her husband passed and I remembered all the great things she had to say about them. Thank heaven that I chose GVFH to help with the final arrangements for my friend. Gregory Zannitto, my Funeral Director, was a true God-send. I was totally devastated by the loss of my friend and he guided me through the entire process with the most unbelievable kindness, compassion and empathy. His attention to detail and incredible follow-up skills were amazing. I truly wouldn't have been able to get through all of this without his help and the help of the rest of the amazing staff at GVFH. I can't thank Gregory (and his co-workers) enough for making what has been one of the most difficult times in my life a little easier. I would highly recommend Greenwich Village Funeral Home to anyone who has lost a loved one.

Yelp
Can't say enough great things! This is the most professionally handled experience I've had in a long time. All businesses should be run with this type of care and professionalism. Everyone was just great. Not only that, the director, Jennifer, was highly competent and very pleasant; extremely easy to work with. She made the experience seamless and easy all the way through. The WV location is beautiful, and easy to get to. At a time that is so difficult to go through, it really takes the stress off when you can put your trust in people like this. I can't thank them enough for all they did.

Fred N.

Yelp
Was there for service for a friend. Very comfortable and professional atmosphere. Special thanks to funeral director Gregory who went out of his way showing compassion and professionalism not often seen these days.

Yelp
UPDATE: Over a year since leaving this review, I received a candid note from the owner of this parlor (who I believe just now discovered Yelp) that acknowledged and explained some of the issues we had on that particular day. Its the right kind of response from any business, and with the hope that these issues are now resolved, I'm upping my review by two stars. I attended a memorial services at Greenwich Village Funeral Home for a departed friend recently. The inside chambers were well decorated and the TVs with a scrolling montage of pictures in both the main room and the side room helped to share his memory, but unfortunately there were a number of issues with the home that marred the service. First and most importantly, there was continuous drillling and wheezing and some sort of construction behind one of the closed doors throughout the service. It was loud and made it impossible to hear the speakers. It's hard to imagine the staff couldn't hear it as well, but nothing was done about it. The funeral home is pretty small. There were about 70 people and there weren't enough chairs for everyone to sit, so people were standing in the side room. During the service we could also hear loud conversation between the staff and people who came in to book the service - those details are obviously not what you want to hear. Even aside from the noise, it was very hard to hear the speakers from the side overflow room unless they spoke directly into the microphone. It would have been helpful if the staff paid attention enough to the ongoing service to move the microphone closer. These are all easily fixable things, and I leave this review not necessarily to dissuade anyone from using Greenwich but with the hope the business does better in the future.

Yelp
I recently met Peter Deluca and his staff to help plan a very close friends service. I have been planning and going to services since I was 4 years old and I can tell you that the experience I received from Peter and his staff was amazing. They are the most professional, understanding and caring people I have worked with. Everyone was so very attentive and took care of everything with such compassion that it made things a lot easier during this most difficult time. They really know what they are doing and go way above and beyond with everything they did. If you are in need of a funeral home, which is not a easy time, this is the place you need to go to.

Yelp
My family has lived in the Soho/Greenwich Village neighborhood for nearly a century and we have used Greenwich Village Funeral Home many times. Last year I unfortunately lost 2 of my grandparents within a two week period. Needless to say I was an emotional wreck. The funeral directors and staff held my hand throughout the entire process. The décor and layout of the funeral home is very elegant and the addition of the flat screen TV displaying old family photos is a great way to capture memories of our loved ones. The funeral directors and staff are very personable and treated me like family and were always open to my questions. Greenwich Village Funeral Home is a staple in "the neighborhood" which has seen a lot of changes over the years.

Jane B.

Yelp
Planned a funeral here for a loved one about a year ago. The place was nice enough and clean, however the owner kept interrupting the funeral director (who was really nice) and he started being pushy trying to sell me a more expensive casket. That made me feel really uncomfortable. The place was also really expensive for what it is. Not sure if I'd go back or not.

Jocelyn C.

Yelp
I recently had the experience of working with the Greenwich Village Funeral Home to plan my husband's funeral. As you might imagine, this was a very difficult process for me emotionally. However, the Greenwich Village Funeral Home made my experience as easy as possible. Gregory was my director, and he guided me through each step of the decision-making process. He helped me plan a flawless day that I will remember forever. This business is professional, caring, meticulous, and supportive. I wish I could give it more than five stars. Thank you, Gregory.

Joey B.

Yelp
I recently attended a memorial service at this establishment. there were empty beer cans in the planters outside and dried vomit just to the side of the entrance and well within view. never. again.

Owen W.

Yelp
I am in a Preplan, and I switched to Greenwich Village from another funeral home on the upper east side because it is more convenient and seemed like the kind of place I would like my friends and relatives to gather to remember me. I occasionally contact them to tweak the details of my plan, which I did recently. I got a message regarding the latest change, and when I tried to make contact to resolve any issues, I was told that my call would be returned, but I kept having to call back, only to get the same response. It's been a week and I have yet to hear anything. I would like to continue to have them serve my eventual needs, but their customer service leaves something to be desired.
