I brought my nephew and two college friends to Greenwood's today. I have eaten at Greenwood's once before and remembered thinking it was pretty good. I chose this restaurant based on location and the fact that overall ratings were positive. I wanted to bring my guests to a memorable spot, especially since one person in our party had never visited Atlanta before. We walked in and received a very warm welcome. That is the only positive thing I can say about our experience today. We ordered a hamburger, shrimp and grits, salmon and a chicken pot pie.. The hamburger was served on a regular size bun, however, the hamburger patty was at least 3/4 inch larger than the bun all the way around. Not only did it look ridiculous, but would have been very difficult to eat. The person who ordered it took her knife and trimmed the meat down to match the size of the bun. Absurd! I ordered the shrimp and grits that was served in what looked like a Melamine cereal bowl. The grits had no taste at all and the pieces of shrimp plopped on top were not much better. I'm no cook but after one bite I thought to myself that I could have prepared better shrimp and grits! The slab of salmon arrived on a white plate....that's it...no lemon, no garnish of any kind. Think about how that looked...just a piece of pink fish sitting in the middle of a white plate. It had to be the most unappealing dish I have ever seen served in a restaurant. If salmon was served in a correctional institution, I imagine that's how it would be presented to the inmates. The person who ordered the chicken pot pie said it was good, but I have my doubts. I was treating, what else would he have said.
Just a tremendously disappointing experience. I have lived in Atlanta for thirty years and have eaten in just about every great restaurant in the city. I have never before left a restaurant feeling like I needed to let folks know that there are sooo many better places to enjoy a meal. Don't go here!
