The Grey Market Is Savannah’s Modern, Southern Lunch Counter | Eater
"Conceived as a follow-up project by Bailey and Morisano, this limited-capacity hybrid combines a Southern lunch counter and a New York–style bodega, offering a “come as you are, for anything you need” spirit with items ranging from toothpaste and paper towels to rotisserie chicken, bagels, kombucha, boxed pasta, and sandwiches inspired by the original restaurant’s menu. Designed by Parts and Labor Design, it aims to serve downtown residents and workers who lack a nearby convenience store while making the chef’s cooking more accessible through grab-and-go offerings such as seafood boudin po’ boys, rare roast beef sandwiches, and a curry chicken salad riff on the kitchen’s Chicken Country Captain. An upstairs production kitchen led by baker Matt Molinari will produce bagels and breads for this venue and other local restaurants, and the team plans a shippable product line (including comeback sauce and Chickasaw plum jam), merchandise, and future catering; the project also intentionally reclaims the historically segregated lunch counter format as an inclusive community resource." - Monica Burton
We had high hopes for this spot, but were pretty disappointed. We got two draft beers (spotted cow (obviously good) and a sour (just okay)), the cheese board and the Italian sandwich. The sandwich was $17 and was quite large. It was a pretty standard deli style sandwich. The cheese board was $20 and came with 3 small slices of cheese, a small pot of mustard, a few pickled radishes and crostinis. It was not substantial enough to be $3 more than the large sandwich. The inside was not what you’d expect of an oyster bar, it was a little more juvenile with posters of robots and arcade games.

Wonderful little cocktail bar. I have driven by this place hundreds of times but never stopped in. Glad I did. This place is great! Wonderful drinks and people.
Also, they have a booze claw machine!

Came to Madison to visit family and we decided to pop in for a drink. Ended up being our favorite spot for the weekend! Staff was super-friendly, food was great, and the drinks were 10/10. If you pop in, I highly recommend the oyster shot or one of their boilermakers that it comes with, you won't be disappointed.

Such a fun, eclectic spot! Great vibes, incredible cocktails, and snacks that make you feel like you’re winning at life. The owner was so kind and even spent time teaching us about cheeses and oysters. 10/10 would sip, snack & learn again.

Well, well, what a fabulous place everyone kept telling us to hit. We should have come here sooner. Amazing food, drinks, beer, staff and atmosphere. It is been added to or frequent stop list. Oysters, Snacks and Sandwiches. Check this place out, wow.

Went on a week night.
Up and coming bar that has delicious(!) food and thought-out tasty drinks, complimented by a relaxed (nearly dystopian) vibe. Great place if you want a grounded yet sophisticated vibe. (Or ethereal futuristic)
Really hoping the tech/finance guys take the ladies out here to indulge.

We went here to check out the onigiri pop-up that was supposed to run from the late afternoon/early evening till 9:00. They ran out almost immediately and didn't tell anyone who was waiting in line. We ended up ordering the sides, since we had already ordered a drink before we knew they were out, one of which was very overpriced and not very good (3 tiny meatballs). The other was fine. Also it was the most Midwest onigiri that I've ever seen. They didn't even stuff them. They just served the toppings on top of them which would have would have made it difficult to eat if we even were able to get any. We left hungry and went to hot lunch instead.

Glad to finally see something new in this space! Grey Market is fairly new so the interior is pretty bare bones, besides a really cool mural! Some more decor would go a long way. Decent sized bar and plenty of seating inside at booths or tables and an outdoor patio (with Capital views)
Stopped in for a couple drinks before a show, and opted for one of their many THC bevs! They have a couple signature drinks, draft beers and an array of other options.
We did not have any food (Snacks) but it’s lighter fare, some seafood based apps and cold dishes.
Lots of great potential, just missing a sign out front and some more decor pieces to give the place some character inside! Look forward to coming back for some cocktails and food!

Yelp
Not pictures are the mussels and hit crab dip. Mussels were not fully cooked. I liked the hot crab dip.
I like what I feel they are striving for. Tight kitchen of food that goes well with alcohol.

Yelp
Great vibe, love the mussels. Creative and fun menu in a small space. sandwiches are among the best in town and super friendly bartenders. What more can you ask for? It's not a restaurant per se, but it is a bar with solid food options. Shrimp cocktail is a killer deal. Probably the best in Madison. Super talent in the tiny kitchen, punches way above its weight.
