I stopped in to Greyline Brewing after a long walk through Riverside Park. The place was pretty full on a Wednesday around 7. There are a handful of tables outside, which were all full. We grabbed a couple beers from the bar and got a seat at a large communal table. The atmosphere is pretty blah, it's polished concrete floors, exposed steel beams, etc., and very loud! Not a lot of character. The beers were decent. I had the oatmeal stout and my boyfriend had the brown ale. Both were okay. The oatmeal stout wasn't as smooth as I had hoped, but the brown was pretty good. I like that they have three sizes/prices to choose from: 4.5oz, 11oz and 16oz. The prices are great, with no (16oz) beer over $5.50. I did see on the sign that these were "grand opening prices" so I'm not sure if they will increase or not. Later on we tried small pours of the black ale and the English pale - I thought the black ale was pretty bad, but the English pale was decent.
Greyline has a small menu that includes sliders, bruschetta, nachos, chips & salsa and some dips. The "kitchen" is a little alcove in the main bar area, which seems a little weird. We ordered the Cuban carnitas nachos (shredded pork, Swiss, pickles, and Dijon sour cream) and they were awesome! They were a unique take on a Cuban with the pickles and Swiss, which I thought was great. I loved them.
Overall, I think Greyline is doing pretty well for their first couple weeks open. Hopefully they will continue to fine tune their beers and I will try to be back!
