Greystones Restaurant and Lounge

I don’t know if it was just a busy night (Saturday Nov 29th) lounge section, 5:30 reservation BUT there was no introduction from the waiter at all, cold and barely spoke (felt awkward), never provided any information on their dishes, nothing. There is better customer service at Swiss chalet. One guest had the Beef Tag, waiter never offered cheese or pepper. (To note the sauce was watery (brothy) not the type of sauce that would stick or coat the pasta). Other guest had the steak ($69) asked for medium well; it was served medium rare in the middle and waiter didn’t come by to see how our food was until we were almost done… (the Keg has just as good of a steak dinner at almost half the cost). I definitely wouldn’t recommend the steak at the current cost. The worst situation in a dining experience is to have to call over the waiter to send back your food especially at a high end restaurant in front of your company. For the cost: our experience could have definitely been more complete due to the lack of service and lack of finishes on the dishes themselves. App, steak entree, desert, drink (pop) and coffee with 18% tip = $160/one person. I’ve heard the opposite from others who had a great experience of a waiter who’s was very knowledgeable on the dish’s served, who offered information on their meats where it comes from; how aged it is etc. waiter came by in a timely manner to check how things are, offered cheese/pepper for pasta dish. The food has obvious great flavours and presentation, the building and decor is beautifully done… just wish our overall experience was complete. Hesitant to return or recommend for future events or date night.

One of my favourite restaurants. I have been coming here with my girlfriends for a few years now. (We absolutely love the atmosphere in the lounge). First I would like to say this place is gorgeous. Service is always incredible, such attentive and delightful staff!! And the food, the best! Every single time I have to order the peppercorn tagliatelle and it never disappoints it’s phenomenal. We can never ever forget about the legendary coconut cream pie.

I was staying at Millcroft Inn & Spa and wanted to explore a new restaurant in Orangeville. This place caught my eye, so I decided to check it out for dinner around 6 PM on a Tuesday. I loved the charming old architecture, and the interior was even more impressive. We didn’t have a reservation, but there was seating available in both the bar/lounge and the dining room. We chose the dining room and were seated by the fireplace, such a cozy spot. Our server was knowledgeable. We ordered beef tartare and scallops to start, followed by halibut and a New York strip steak for our mains. The appetizers were full of flavor and beautifully presented. The halibut was perfectly cooked and delicious. My first few bites of the steak were a bit chewier than expected, so I mentioned it to our server. He and the team handled it with such professionalism, offering options, treating me with olives while waiting, and even providing dessert on the house. Everything from the food to the service to the elegant washrooms downstairs was top-notch. Highly recommend checking out their lounge for a lively, modern vibe!

Always an absolutely wonderful experience coming to Greystone’s. Quality of the food is amazing and I love the variety of food available every season. Service is great and everyone is very attentive. I love the drink selection as well. Sometimes it can be very loud but understandable with how close some of the tables are and how busy it usually is. Highly recommend for any special occasion or a nice date night out. Small parking lot but there has always been street parking available if it’s too busy in their parking lot.

We had an amazing dinner here last night. The food was amazing; one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. The tuna tartare was unreal, I will have dreams of this dish for sure. We also order the bread which was so good. For our mains we had the filet which was cooked perfectly and was melt in your mouth. We also ordered the duck confit gnocchi which was so delicious. There aren’t enough adjectives! Steve our server was fabulous and took could care of us. We will definitely be back!

While driving through Orangeville recently, we decided to stop at Greystones, and I am genuinely glad we did. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere sets a fantastic tone. The design is beautiful, featuring warm lighting and thoughtful aesthetics that make the space feel inviting and sophisticated. Our experience was elevated by the service. Our server, Lindsay, was helpful and knowledgeable; she navigated the menu with ease and her recommendations were spot-on. The support staff was also excellent—food runners were efficient, and table maintenance was proactive. A notable detail that speaks to the restaurant's quality: the facilities were beautiful, well maintained, and clean, contributing to the overall high standard of the visit. Sourdough Baguette (9/10) This was a solid start to the meal. The bread was perfectly executed—crusty on the outside yet soft and moist on the inside. The accompanying butter with sea salt was nice, but for a stronger, richer flavour, I feel that whipped butter would elevate this simple offering even further. Butternut Squash Soup (8/10) This soup had a beautiful, silky texture, and the toasted hazelnut was a great textural contrast. However, the apple mostarda was perhaps too subtle; I found myself wishing for a stronger "citrus kick" to cut through the richness and brighten the palate. Wild Mushrooms on Toast (8/10) The presentation here was lovely. The buttermilk ricotta on the toast was soft and delicious, and the veal jus was a great addition. However, we were surprised that the mushroom medley was served cold—I am unsure if that was the chef's intention, but a warm topping might have been better. Additionally, the mushroom purée seemed to be missing or applied very sparingly. Calamari Piccolo Fritto (9/10) This dish was technically excellent. The calamari was cooked perfectly (not rubbery at all). The addition of celery hearts and fennel was a refreshing complement, and the mayonnaise with togarashi sauce offered a well-balanced kick. My only minor note is that the plating could use a pop of colour to make it as visually appealing as it is tasty. Sea Scallops (10/10) This was the absolute star of the meal. The scallops were seared to perfection—soft, buttery, and delicious. The pairing with cauliflower and leeks was lovely, but the saffron vinaigrette truly tied the dish together with a sophisticated flavour profile. Quebec Chicken (9/10) A fantastic execution of poultry. The hickory-smoked chicken had a texture so moist and tender it felt like it had been sous-vide, yet it had the distinct finish of a great roast. The smokiness was present but not overpowering, and the blend of farro, butternut squash, and parsnip provided a comforting, hearty accompaniment. Greystones Burger (6/10) Unfortunately, this was the only letdown of the meal. While the flavour of the prime beef and roasted Portobello was good, the burger felt "busy" and lacked cohesion. The bottom bun lacked structural integrity and fell apart almost immediately. The accompanying fries were also disappointing, coming out tough and rubbery rather than crisp. Coconut Cream Pie (9/10) A strong finish to the meal. The crust was thin and sweet, allowing the filling to shine. It had a genuine coconut flavour (complete with flakes) that wasn't artificial. The white chocolate shavings were a brilliant touch that added creaminess without overpowering the coconut. Despite the stumble with the burger, the overall experience at Greystones was fantastic. The diverse menu (covering everything from seafood to vegetarian options) is enticing, and the kitchen clearly knows what they are doing with their proteins and sauces. Given the ambiance, the excellent service from Lindsay, and the perfection of the Scallops and Chicken, I would definitely revisit Greystones to explore more of their menu.

We had a wonderful experience at Greystones in Orangeville. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, cozy yet elegant, and you can tell a lot of care has gone into every detail. The food was outstanding, full of flavor, beautifully presented, and truly enjoyable from start to finish. A special thank you to our server, Owen, who made the evening even better. He is professional, attentive, and clearly loves what he does, a waiter with a capital “W.” His service turned a great dinner into an unforgettable one. Greystones is a real gem in Orangeville, and we can’t wait to come back!

The atmosphere in this restaurant is very relaxing and clam, the decor and eye for details are well though of. Very very clean place. The staff and waiter and very professional and knowledgeable and can discuss anything about the menu. The Food oh it's so wonderful and the recipes they offer are very well crafted. Everything so balanced in flavor and taste. It's a feast for the taste buds. Thanks to all the team well done.

Went here for a 80th celebration. First of the place is nice, a destination into itself. Second the food is very nice. We had the oysters which were fresh and full of flavor. Then the ahi tuna which was delightful, a little tang a little spice. Wow. The calamari was different, not heavily battered rather literally in a panko coating. Wonderful. The basil spaghetti was so fresh and fantastic. Wow. I wanted more. But the stand out winner is the filet mignon. Juicy tender and cooked perfectly as medium rare plus. Ended with the coconut cream pie which was bold and subtle with taste and sugar. A great place for a nice dinner.

I was finishing up a call in my laptop on the patio 17 min after closing When Nicole from the cafe, straight up sprayed me with water. Probably not the best.

Greystones Cafe is a lovely cafe located in Orangeville, adjacent to sister restaurant Greystones Restaurant. The space has clean, modern rustic vibes. They also have a great patio with plenty of seating. Note that they limit seating time to 45 min due to the smaller venue and to allow other guests to be seated. There is an extensive selection of sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and beverages. Prices are steep, but quality is evident in everything they make. What I recommend: - the pesto chicken panini ($12) - the pulled pork quesadilla (flavourful and delicious) - the famous coconut cream pie (of Scaramouche fame, and priced accordingly at $13 per slice!) (the best I've had with a great flaky crust, tons of coconut cream filling and lots of white chocolate shavings) -the vanilla latte (delicious) Less enthusiastic about: - earl grey lemon loaf - not too sweet but was a tad dry - iced vanilla chai with oat milk - was creamy but lacking in the spice factor Would definitely return when in the area. The quality of the food speaks for itself.

I have eaten at Greystones on approx 10 different occasions but this time warranted a review as the meal was varied in a way that was disconnected from what I am used to from this establishment. There was expense spared at Greystones when it comes to ambiance. To disagree with this statement is to be willfully ignorant the the meaning of the word ambiance. We started off with cocktails, I had a few vodka Martini's which I requested to be dry. Neither were dry and both were served in a small mouthed Nick and Nora glass which was strange. While the volume of the cocktail may have been the same as a classic Martini glass, it appeared like it was less and was off putting. One the drinks had 4 olives in it and the next 3....consistency is the mark of excellence IMO. We had several appetizers at our table. The Tuna Tartare is amazing, order it and don't look back. The oysters were fresh, we had a dozen, though we weren't told where they were from and I'm a little picky with my oysters. The octopus I ordered was overdone, and I could t cut it with my knife. The calamari was light for being fried and salty, which I liked. The onion and beans mixed in made a lot of sense in the dish. I had the venison as my main and it was cooked rare-medium rare as a loin should be, but lacked seasoning. A large rarer piece of Meat like this should be seasoned well, especially game meat. The wood ear mushrooms and grilled Onion were a great compliment to the dish, although I think a starch on the plate would have gone a long way. The coconut cream pie is perhaps the most endearing item on the menu, a favorite of my wife and all who frequent the spot. Not complaints about its consistency at all. After it was all said and done the bull came to a tidy $750. A sum that IMO did not entirely match the quality of the meal but was also representative of the cost of alcohol at this restaurant. It's very pricey to have a few drinks and out bill was mostly alcohol. I will say that the service at Greystones is impeccable, and has never been otherwise.

Hello. Just a comment. For me, dining out has become luxury. That being said, I have dined at the cafe more than a few times. The treats and sandwiches are excellent. I do miss the roast beef sandwich. My only complaint is the service. Staff is not engaging, not friendly, or smiling. It would make a better experience for the customer if they showed an interest

Greystone is one amazing restaurant in Orangeville that i highly recommend you should trek to outside of Toronto! I live in Oakville so it was a bit of a drive to come here but it was super worth it! It's in a really cool old building in downtown Orangeville. The food here is amazing and I'm glad i went here with my friend who is a regular at the place. We ordered a couple of things and a lot of desserts! Shared the tuna tartare, a great starter. The tuna wasn't as gamey. I got the Peppercorn Tagliatelle as my main. Loved it! It was so truffle-y and al dente noodles! For dessert, i got their coconut cream pie and shared the bread pudding! They're all so tasty! I'd love to come back here again! Definitely will trek all the way here for greystone!

As always our experience at Greystones was fantastic. We went up for a Tuesday evening date night and enjoyed the amazing food, wine and atmosphere. Owen, our server, made sure our evening was perfect and it was great to see him again! Greystones is always enjoyable and the food perfection.....also we killed the crème brûlée

I wanted to give this four stars but I cannot. Went for dinner and the place looks amazing post renovation. Very well put together CoVid protocols with barriers between the tables. We have eaten at Greystones before (previous owner) and really enjoyed the meal. One thing that may seem small but to me shows the customer loyalty is they want $7.00 for what use to be the complimentary bread. This is not acceptable and you can ask people if they would like it to keep cost down at and not charge. I really dislike when restaurants nickel and dime the customers. Our server was great and friendly. I had the Cesar Salad and they were very sparing on the dressing in which most leafs had no dressing on it. I do think it would have been very good if it would have had more as I liked the taste. I had the burger with fries and had to ask for ketchup which is fine, but they brought a very small amount which was not enough. The burger was cooked to order and tasted very good and would recommend. The rest of the family enjoyed their dishes. Overall we did enjoy the meal but think they could do some things better.

Service was absolutely outstanding. Our waiter was well informed and funny which was a bonus. Food was stupendous - highly recommend the tartare. Delightful ambience and uniquely creative décor. A well managed operation and it shows!

What a find! Totally recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal north of Toronto. The service was exceptional and fast. Deep wine list Long Scotch list too! You won't be disappointed if you decide to stop by. d.

Very welcoming and comfortable place. The coffee is great and lots of pastries, even gluten-free. Now for regular pastries there is a lot of choice. Gluten-free option is usually 1 only. Not bad but at least 2 would be great. The prices are on the high side for example a small coffee and a gluten-free scone $8.50. However they taste good and someone could say the price doesn't matter if the product is good (kind of). Great place in Orangeville and even and outdoor patio.

Wow! What an experience! The food here was amazing! It was a fancier restaurant with amazing service and perfect ambiance. I got the peppercorn tagliatelle which was to die for. We also got the tuna tar tar, Caesar salad, and baby gem salad which were are delicious. Lastly, we got the Ontario pork, the burger, and the bucatini which shocker was amazing! Highly recommend this restaurant as someone nice to eat!

Okay, $36.00 for an overrated pork chop that was so sodium heavy I couldn't eat it. Served will a soy (More sodium) based sauce and A few julienned vegetables. So disappointing.

My wife and her friends were just there and were informed that grated parm for pasta is a $3 charge, we won't be back.

We had a delicious meal here for my husband's birthday. Service was great, the restaurant is beautiful and all of our food and drinks tasted amazing! Highly recommend going here for a special occasion.

We ordered the House Made Hummus, Parmigiano Reggiano Frites, Sautéed Mixed Mushrooms, Saffron Shellfish Risotto and the 10oz New York Striploin. Everything came out hot and was delicious though I found the risotto to be undercooked a little bit the flavour was great with good sized pieces of seafood. The steak was a good cut but didn't have much flavour, maybe it just needed more salt to bring the flavour out? Idly I did not enjoy the 2021 Malbec Septima (I usually love Malbec) so I exchanged it for the 2019 Pinot Noir Benton Lane (Willamette Valley, Oregon) which was also pretty dry but much better. The waiter and multiple waitresses that brought us our food were friendly and polite. We would definitely come again.

Amazing steak. The rosemary fries were awesome too. Great patio. Classy; upscale, recently renovated. Great wine list, you can go from $40 to $800. Private parking. Definitely will come back.
