Yelp
Grill Grand, located in Asakusa, is recommended as a Bib Gourmaund Restaurant in the Michelin Guide. They have a small menu, but what they have is delicious. We came here because my wife wanted to have omurice with demi glace sauce. I ended up ordering their wagyu beef stew, which also has this demi glace sauce.
If you aren't familiar with demi glace sauce, it's a flavor bomb that is made by making beef stock and having it concentrate its flavors over time. Grill Grand says that their demi glace takes two weeks to make. It was obvious that they took no shortcuts here.
We went with their combo sets, which came with the entree, crab croquette, salad, soup, and we finished with hot tea. The crab croquette was delicious as it was crispy on the outside, but the inside was full of creamy crab. The salad and corn soup were simple, but they did the job. The tea was a perfect way to finish the meal after eating their rich entrees.
As for those entrees: The omurice had a soft omelette placed over a tomato-chicken fried rice and topped with a generous portion of the demi glace sauce. The wagyu beef stew was fork tender and it was cooked in that demi glace sauce and served with a side of rice.
I could see why the Michelin guide recommended this small restaurant with five tables. They cut no corners, what they offer is incredibly flavorful, and it was a very affordable meal of high quality. I know that when people want to get Omurice in Japan, they think of the viral "Kichi Kichi" in Osaka; however the same-day reservation process is virtually impossible to navigate. Consider coming to Grill Grand, a michelin recommended restaurant in Tokyo, instead for this signature dish.
