"At 656 Sixth Avenue (at West 20th Street) the Manhattan Grimaldi’s was thrust into the spotlight after prosecutors announced a guilty plea: owner Anthony Piscina and manager Frank Santora admitted to bouncing checks and failing to pay workers from August 2017 to August 2023, stealing $32,080 in wages from 18 employees (including pizza makers, preppers, busboys, and dishwashers); they were sentenced to pay full restitution, which they submitted to the DA’s office. Following their March arrests the location was scrubbed from the Grimaldi’s website and is listed as temporarily closed on Google, and the DA’s investigation prompted more employees to come forward to the Worker Protection Unit." - Melissa McCart
