I've lived in Louisville full-time for 3 years, but I started visiting nearly a decade ago when I moved to Lexington. When I met a friend in Louisville for dinner, he recommended Grind. I enjoyed my burger enough that it became one of my go-to places when I dropped in town, and I'm still trying new things on the menu.
I've built my own burger, and also enjoyed the B&B, and Pork. All were good. And while they are known for burgers, they excel at other items. My wife loves their salads. Last time we went, I got the adult grilled cheese for the first time. I did enjoy it, but it felt a little too elevated to me. I'll probably go back to burgers the next time we go. The house cut fries did not disappoint.
As for beverages --- pretty reasonably priced and a good beer/bourbon selection. This is a great place to bring visitors because there is usually always room for groups, it's right near the heart of NuLu, and it was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives! Which I think is cool.
The reason for 4 stars is that while everything is good that I've tried, I think there are better burgers out there for a better price. The ambience in there is also hit-or-miss because I've hardly been inside when it's crowded. It's a big space, so it can feel a little empty.
That doesn't impact us as much because we always go up to the bar and chat with the bartenders. They're very friendly and have some good stories to tell. The servers are a big reason why we keep coming!
