Pricey for what you get. I haven't gone to the original location yet, so this is the first time I've tried this chain of mid price burgers. I ordered the double hillbilly burger and a side of crinkle cut fries. The bill totalled out to be around $11. The food came out pretty quick, my friend and I passed time watching the movies they put up on the walls and nearby TVs.
The hillybilly burger was oily and heavy. It consisted of two small patties topped with caramelized onions, chili, pimento cheese, and one lonely jalapeno. There was not really any contrast in flavors, everything was savory and creamy with no crunch or bite. There was only one jalapeno in my burger, which did nothing to improve the flavor.
The original grindhouse burger was your basic hamburger, american cheese, veggies, and a 'special' ketchup mayo based sauce. It tasted pretty flavorful, the sauce wasn't too strong and the cheese melted nicely over the burger. The caramelized onions and pickles were a good addition.
The fries on the other hand were okay, it was soft and lacked the crispiness I wanted. I liked how the ridges were smaller and closer together, grabbed condiments a lot better than other fries I've eaten.
In conclusion the food was okay, but too expensive for the small amount I was getting. I recommend getting the double instead of the junior if you want to leave satisfied. I'll pass on eating here again, but I'd definitely want to try the Atlanta locations.
