Gringo's Mexican Kitchen {Katy}

I ate at Gringo’s Mexican Kitchen and really enjoyed it. The food was fresh, flavorful, and served hot. The portions were generous and well worth the price. The atmosphere was comfortable, and the staff was friendly and attentive, which made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for great Mexican food with good service, I definitely recommend stopping by Gringo’s!

The food was served fresh and tasted absolutely delicious — from the chicken chimichanga and chicken quesadilla to the chicken bowl, everything was spot on. The mango margarita was expertly made, though I did feel it was a bit overpriced at $15 for a large. We also tried the veggie fajitas, which were loaded with fresh vegetables (something I really appreciated), but they lacked seasoning and could use more spices to bring out the flavor. The standout dish for me was definitely the queso served with their fresh chips — hands down the best part of the meal. Our server was incredibly sweet and made the experience even better. I do wish the menu had more vegetarian options, though. Overall, from the warm service to the quality and portion sizes, it was a great dining experience.

Their Maxican food is the best in Houston. I have visited this place a couple of times. Their chicken fajitas are cooked to perfection and have a balanced flavor. Their salsa, queso and other spicy sauce tasted great with the chips. Their fresh guac also had a balanced flavor. The staff is great; they guided us through the menu and constantly checked in to ensure we were enjoying our meal. Drinks were the star; also, the star is the free mini cone ice-cream.

It was very busy due to it being mothers day weekend. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. Once seated, service was great. Food came out fresh and quickly. Fajitas were fresh and the tortilla soup was just ok. Drinks were good too.

Always a palate pleasure eating at Gringo’s. When we got there, there was a 25 min wait for two so we sat at the bar. We were immediately greeted by the bartender and brought chips and their amazing green and red salsas. I ordered the pollo marisco and my husband ordered the Veracruz plate. The food took about 25 minutes, not terrible considering how busy they were. Looking forward to returning on a less busy day.

Thank you so much to Michael at the bar for leaving the menu and creating a drink that was absolutely amazing and exactly what hat I asked for! He was so kind and busy but still made it happen and I truly appreciate it! By the way I’m sorry for everyone who ordered it after me just because of the presentation lol

Chimichangas, tacos, burritos, bowls, etc are all good. Nothing has disappointed yet. Also, there’s a self service soft serve machine which actually works.

Absolutely loved the visit to Gringo’s Tex-Mex! We ordered the Pescado Yucatán and Pollo El Dorado, and both dishes were packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. We finished with the Tres Leches, one of the best we’ve had. The service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

Loved the food!! this location never disappoints! From beginning to end it was very delicious. My Mangonada Margarita has become a must have everytime I dine in :) Looking forward to my next meal here!

Food here is not as good as Jimmie Changas. Also this place is way too crowded and not a lot of parking area. We were on the waitlist and then get there to find out 9 people ahead of us. Luckily we sat at the bar. Bar tender took great care us. Just wish your food tasted as good as Jimmie Changas.

Everything is great about this place! The atmosphere and ambiance is superb! The service is friendly and attentive but not overbearing. The food is scrumptious! You need to get the chicharrones with queso! It's so good! All of the food was great. And they have soft serve ice cream

Gringos is not the best texmex food in Katy, but the food is still good and restaurant is really fun and has great margs to make for a fun night out Oh, and they have a free ice cream machine

Recent visit to Gringo's was a good experience for our group. The Service was good on Sunday was good not too crowded. I invited my friends to join me for dinner and they had never been before. Everyone enjoyed their meal selection and the margaritas were tasty and freshly made as always. We ordered queso, enchiladas plates and taco dinners. All was delicious and good place for quality Tex-Mex.

Great for lunch! It's easy to get a seat and good meal options. Service was great, attentive and efficient. It's a casual and chill atmosphere. They offer red salsa and green with chips, salsa is not heated but good. I got the summer special and it was good. The taco was packed with beef!

I've always received great service and the dishes I've ordered have been great. Love the free ice cream! My favorite thing I've ordered is the pollo marisco plate. Delicious! The picture attached is of last night's door dash. All of our food was very well packaged, they have great quality containers too. A lot of places use the cheapest containers and food gets ruined.

Headed over to Gringo's with the family. This establishment is well decorated and had a great vibe to it. The atmosphere was amazing, lots of people dining, and the staff were friendly and professional. Everything in the menu looked great but what caught my attention was the fajita taco salad. I have a habit of looking at other individuals prior to ordering. Anyways the salad was delicious and the meat was super tender. It had plenty of roughage and protein! They gave me some salad dressing but it was not needed. The only hang up was the parking lots of people there. Anyways definitely coming back!

The food was very good! me and someone else and our party got the fajitas for two and it was delicious! Our server was very kind and we got a free tres leches for a birthday in our group. Overall I would highly recommend as a delicious and enjoyable Mexican restaurant.

Update 2024 - please add Crispy Avocado Tacos to the regular menu!! Its a perfectly fried avocado in corn tortillas (think fish tacos but avocado!). Service was great - shout out to Daniela!

Gross, gross, gross. I wouldn't wish this food on my worse enemy. The chicken enchiladas tasted like plastic. The tamales that we ordered were no bigger than two fingers put together and semi burnt. The rice was crunchy and clearly straight from the bottom of the barrel. Chips and salsa were stale. The ONLY thing that seemed fresh was the black beans. By far the worst experience from a waiter that I've had ever and I've been a waitress for over a decade now. Chloie was far from professional and extremely condescending. lol are you ok? The lighting of the place was good because we saw the specks in and on our dirty water cups. The crowd looked like a bunch of people who don't have access to yelp because otherwise I don't think they would have been there. Not for a date night- maybe a place you would take a bad mother in law. Just know you've been seriously warned here.

I think this place just now became my favorite Tex mex restaurant. The service was great and loved the tall ceiling layout. The food was amazing and loads of veggie options too. Also the free ice cream was a perfect cherry on the top. Can't wait to come back!

Our first time eating here was to-go and it was delicious and perfectly packed. We decided to go and eat there this time. The ambiance was great tvs going and everyone having a good time. we had the beef fajitas again and this time unlike the togo order they were chewy which. was disappointing. However the service and everything else was good and we will be back and try them again.

Their service was great. Our wonderful server was Jayla, she did an excellent job attending us. The food wasn't bad. We had the queso, El Captain, beef fajitas and beef quesadillas. The queso wasn't the best, but still good. My husband and daughter liked the El captain and beef quesadillas. The fajitas were just ok, they didn't really have any flavor, but the texture was good. Excellent customer service! Food was fresh and soft tortillas were very soft, fresh and delicious. Reasonable menu prices. Will definitely be returning!

Gringo's is part of the same restaurant family as family-friendly Jimmy Changas. However, you're less likely to see small children running through the dining room at Gringo's. I stopped in for a late weekday lunch. My server Jasmine was friendly and provided just the right amount of attention. The Watermelon 'Rita is refreshing, and was served garnished with a huge slice of fresh watermelon. The bottom half of my tortilla chip basket was mostly just broken pieces of chip. The Bean Tostada that was part of the Rosita platter, was topped with tons of crispy fresh veggies. I honestly could've eaten just two of those for lunch and would've been fine. If you're a cheese lover, you'll enjoy the Cheese enchiladas in the Rosita too. Instead of being covered in traditional Tex-Mex chili gravy; it's just cheese on cheese on cheese. Definitely will be back.

Everything is always spot on here, and no wonder is always busy for Tex-Mex at any time of day o evening. Had the Tampico chicken this time with no cheese. Couple things I did notice for them to be a true 5 as I'd give 4.5. Avocado, they are very stingy on giving you much of it to have enough to enhance the whole chicken. Not enough, even a few small slices more would be sufficient for the meal. Also, they place venues and drink menus randomly around the bar...for looks? To get people to order? It's not a 5-star thing to do, especially since this is a very nice place inside. Server/ bartender should ask about menus or drink menu (customer service) as the bar should be slick and clean without the marketing on top. Otherwise, great establishment and fresh great food with outstanding employees. Dips for tortillas they bring out don't have the freshly made taste. All in all, the menus out on the bar is for lower standard establishments. They are an upscale place. they just need a few kinks ironed out. Thumbs up here.

I truly enjoyed my meal called, "Mariachis." This consisted of an egg roll, taquito, rice and chicken enchilada & gravy.. All the food was wonderful!

I really enjoyed the food it was real fresh and didn't take long to come out. The drinks were so good. Give that bartender a raise! Lol also the service Darian provided us was so good. He was very helpful and made sure he checked on us several times. The inside was decorated very cute. The signs on the walls were such a vibe. I enjoyed it and I will be back to visit again soon.

Love this Gringos location. This location does tend to get busy so I'd recommend getting on the wait list. It's pretty spacious inside but it's usually always busy here! My go to order would be the trio fajitas which consists of beef, chicken, shrimp! It comes with the fajita sides of cheese, guac, pico, grilled onions, sour cream, choice of beans, and rice. Fajita meat here is very juicy and filled with flavor. My appetizer order would be the cantina nachos with ground meat w extra cheese no beans. Gringos is probs my favorite Tex-Mex restaurant!

Omg best enchiladas suizas I've had in a long time, light and so tasty. The white rice was good too and the true test in a restaurant are the beans and these were delicious !

Came on a Wednesday night and the place was pretty packed! Got seated almost immediately. I loved the dips they had for the chips. I got the Rodriguez which was chicken enchilada, taquito, and steak nachos and it was really good! The waitress was super nice too, great service. A great spot for some tex Mex if you're in the area!

Been here twice and can see this myself coming back again. The margaritas are strong. This time we started with the shrimp empanadas. They're pricey (2 for $9) but they taste good. The pineapple margarita was large, refreshing yet strong. Our food was very flavorful. Highly recommend the carne guisada!

We love Gringo's! This location is a newer one just built 2-3 years ago and we have been enjoying since it opened. Large parking lot, but it's so busy at peak times it can still be hard to find parking, but as all the lots are connected, you'll still find a spot. I recommend joining the waitlist for a table, as they do not do reservations, but I've never waited long when joining the waitlist. Service is very good as well even in busier times, and the food and drinks are always outstanding. Portion sizes are huge too, so my husband and I usually start off with our favorite appetizers (Cantina Nachos and Southwest Egg Rolls), then see if we're still hungry, and more than not we aren't. If you love Tex-Mex, I definitely recommend Gringo's!

The 4 star review is mainly due to our server. She was amazing - knowledgable of the food and drink menus, offered alternatives, and very friendly! We arrived with a party of 7 and we were quickly seated. We had the marisco bowl (1 with shrimp and 1 with shrimp and crawfish), the chicken fajitas, the Cabo salad, and two enchilada meals. The salad was nicely portioned so I took it home (and ate it 10 minutes after leaving lol). The food is very tex-mex which was different for my party, but we enjoyed it. For drinks, we had the mango margarita, two cadilac margs, and a margarita with sparkling wine. All of them were delicious! I really liked the atmosphere! The decor is very nice and there is a huge rectangular bar with a multitude of flat screens. The bathrooms were also very clean. Overall would I come back? Yes! Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely!

Great food great service and perfect location would recommend to anyone that loves good Mexican food

I don't usually leave yelp reviews but I felt obligated to do so today. We stopped in for lunch as we do so often and had a new waitress I think her name was Kylie, she was doing her best but as everyone knows there is a learning curve at a new job. She was sweet and had a smile on the whole time. There were some hiccups here and there that are understandable for a new waitress. The star of the show was jasmine, she recognized us as regulars and made sure she swooped in when she noticed the hiccups. Overall the experience is why we love Gringos Jasmine was able to use us to coach Kylie and help her become a great waitress. I love the team work and appreciate the great food. Speaking of the food I had the Pacifico shrimp my wife had beef fajita and my mother in law had the chicken enchiladas. Everything was delicious.

It has southwestern cuisine with some seafood options. Lots of avocado, chili pepper, and grilled flavor profiles. The food is standard fare. A lot like what you could get at Chilis. The ambience is southwestern/ Mexican. It is a nice restaurant The service was ok. Could have been more attentive to water and salsa refills. It's good if you are looking for something like Chilis to eat at.

Gringos is the best! Best food, best service and the ambiance is great. The rewards is always a nice surprise. There's always an appetizer or coupon when you use the rewards. I totally recommend it!!

The food is great, service is awesome. Only drawback and it's not the establishments fault is sitting next to people that insist on having their screaming kids and think it's cute. Please discipline them or stay home.

Delicious! My plate was excellent. The chips and salsa's before the meal are also very good. The service was good and the restaurant was clean. And to top it off you get free ice cream!

I love this place! The food is always delicious, no matter what you order. The staff is always friendly and attentive, and the place is always clean and comfortable. Their green dip is the best, and their chips are always thin and crunchy. You could easily fill up on that alone. The kids love the free ice cream from the machine as well, but who doesn't? lol

The wait was about 45min - 1hr. Because so much people love to go so I recommend calling in advance. You can enjoy drinks and chips while you wait for your table. El Capitan was my favorite dish The service was perfect The free ice cream is a plus

The food at gringos never disappoints. I love their shrimp fajitas. The shrimp are grilled perfectly. They're huge. The staff are very friendly and very attentive. I never have to ask for chips or salsa to be refilled.

Your place for Tex-Mex food. Service and price are pretty good. Food portions are also pretty decent from the type of plate you choose. Nice and clam atmosphere with free ice cream while you wait to be seated.

The food is good, perhaps a bit more expensive than I had hoped. We started with some guacamole. Fresh and tasty, we really enjoyed it, especially with the fresh chiccharones. I saw a picture of the seafood relleno and had to try it. I liked it and would order it again. My daughter had a combo meal and liked it. My wife had a taco salad, but the $5 surcharge for fajita meat was a bit too much. Nearby el Rey has a better and cheaper beef fajita taco salad. Gringos offers free ice milk cones as you leave. I am not a huge fan of ice milk, but this is a great feature for the kids.

If you dine here, you absolutely need to ask for Michael to be your server. We arrived on a Friday night (very busy) and had 4 adults and a high chair. We had a bit of a longer wait than anticipated due to them not having any tables available that fit a high chair. They finally asked us if a booster seat would suffice and we said yes, so they gave us a booth. Michael was friendly and professional immediately upon introduction. He asked if the baby would like some tortilla dough to play with. This was greatly appreciated after we had waited so long & the baby was restless. Michael was attentive without being too pushy. He was incredibly accommodating and gave us great food & drink recommendations. I could tell that he had been serving for a while and that he was good at his job. Not only was he a wonderful server, but he is also a veteran. We talked to him about his experience in the military and he was very open with us. It's not often that you come across someone as wonderful as Michael. He is a true treasure and we would come back to this location just to have him as our server!

For TexMex this is the spot. The chips and salsa's that they give you at the table are great and full of flavor. Also, they give very big portions so you can share your plates.

I've been visiting this restaurant for over 2 years . We always sit/dine at the bar and have great service, food and drinks. Last week we had a friend with us and couldn't find a place at the bar so had to get a table. The service on a table compared to the service at the bar is night and day. I always get a frozen margarita. By the time the server got my drink to the table, it wasn't frozen anymore . We order some chicharrones for our Queso Loco and it took forever to get them . I will continue to go visit this place but will make sure that I get a place at the bar .

This is usually a family go to when we can't decide what we want to eat. I love their salsa. My favorite lunch item is the Amazon wrap. It could have a little more ingredients in it for the price though. T

RIDICULOUS AVOID THIS RESTAURANT LIKE THE PLAGUE I ordered food on the app.... 3 hours early.... Scheduled it to pick up at 5 and it is 530 and nothing yet!!! I've seen 5 or 6 cars come and go.... Who is managing this store!!! $200 orders aren't what they used to be... I never leave a review but this is CRAZY!! Why tell me the kitchen is backed up when the truth is you haven't even started my order!!! I spend about $2500 a year at Gringos, but that stops today.... I may not be your biggest customer but I know a lot of people that swear by Gringos and this will be remembered and shared Thanks for ruining my dinner plans !!

Fun place! Lots of activity with families and folks on dates along with the laidback crowd from work. Big booths with excellent decor and plenty of space and they have a menu with great choices but we always get the chicharrones with queso loco - muy bueno! I chose the combination Zapata with crispy beef taco, beef enchiladas, boracho beans and Mexican rice. Crunchy good taco with tasty enchiladas but i especially like the boracho beans (cilantro tasty with just the right amount of salt and smoky cumin). My wife has the seafood enchiladas and enjoyed them very much. Have your meal with a tasty beverage, i picked a salty rimmed margarita as a good margarita makes your meal complete!

I had a great time at Gringo's! Drink: star spangle banner margarita 5/5 sweet , but had a kick was tipsy the whole meal Food: quesadillas 4/5 needed more guacamole. Charro beans 5/5 Waiter : 5/5 real cool and attentive

Love this place. Used to go to Chuy's, but now Gringo's is my go to. Great food and service. I eat here often, never a bad meal. Plus they are very generous to Veterans, which I really appreciate.
