20 Iconic Dishes That Define Miami - Miami - The Infatuation

"Reliable, consistent, and with over five locations in Miami, chances are Chef Creole has been there for you after your roommate consumed all your leftovers. The restaurant serves a blend of Haitian and Caribbean food (the titular Chef Creole was born in the Bahamas to Haitian parents). But when we find ourselves at the 54th Street location in Little Haiti, which is our favorite Chef Creole, griot always feels like the appropriate order." - virginia otazo, ryan pfeffer, mariana trabanino

This place is great. I got the rice and goat. It was a big portion, enough for two meals. The taste was amazing very well cooked. They have a good variety of items and im sure ill be back for more

Google
This place never disappoints. Food is always made fresh. When ever o visit the north Miami area I have to order a griot complete with extra gravy.. called and picked up ready in 10 to 15 minutes.

Staff is very welcoming and polite, the premises are clean. Food taste great I had a “Griot” dish and it was delicious. I definitely recommend anyone to stop by if you’re in the mood of Caribbean Cuisine in North Miami Beach. Will definitely go back.

Google
The food portions were excellent and the rice was amazing, maybe the best I’ve had for takeout in Miami. I ordered the griot which I would have given 2 stars for the fact it was not fresh and crispy. It tasted as if that it been previously cooked or fried and reheated because it was extremely dry and not crispy. I would like to have given five stars because I could tell this restaurant serves really amazing food. But Grill is one of my favorites and it’s got to be freshly made where the hot oil is burning a hole through the Styrofoam it’s so freaking hot and fresh out the fryer. I would like to go back and try a different menu item that may be more freshly prepared.

Pros & Cons

Google
Haitian food is a cuisine that not everyone in other states have ever tried because it's mostly predominately in Florida. This is probably my second time experiencing it at Griot 305 and I can attest that with all the competitors that are in the field in Miami Griot 305 stands out beyond leaps and bounds, & heres why: They have a credit card machine which most Haitian restaurants dont have; the interior is kept cozy and the natural light that enters the room is pleasant; the cleanliness of the staff and attention to detail is superb; there is a wheelchair access ramp and parking; cold a.c.; drinks, beer, & wine coolers; and their prices are VERY reasonable; the food is delicious & the chef that they have in the kitchen is a professional. Overall, my experience has been positive, & in both my visits the food has never had a mawkish flavor. Its a privilege to be the first to review (I'm always hesitant to review only until a second, or third visit). My greetings to the owners for making me feel welcomed for a second time. Keep up the great work & congratulations on having your own restaurant. I will be coming back more often. Highly recommended. 😊

Other than their fear of maskless customers, my pick up order of griot, rice and beans, tostones, and salad was very good. The added scotch bonnet sauce was a real treat. Good food and value.

Google
I felt welcomed by the ownership, and everyone was polite enough. I ordered fried turkey, and to be honest, I'm not sure if what I received was fried turkey or not. It didn't taste bad, but I can't say that it tasted like turkey. The bones were bigger than what I believe turkey bones should be too. I think they gave me fried goat, if I had to guess. That's the main reason for the missing star. Otherwise, all was fine.

LaKetta Bonita

Google
The food was good but it wasn't hot so that deducts points from me. The owner was very friendly and helpful

Yelp
Came here on Saturday October 14th, 2023 to find the establishment is closed. Not sure if they went out of business or they are remodeling?

Yelp
I am so disappointed & very upset. $18 for this mess, the plantain is left over & stale the salad is not fresh. I drove on my lunch break in the rain, the in. Haitian restaurant does not value nor appreciate their customers dollars. This is ridiculous & the reason we tend to support other culture businesses. 0 star really

Yelp
The absolute best Haitian restaurant I've ever been visited the stay is fast, effective, and polite. The food is a 10 every time it really doesn't matter what dish you order it bound to be delicious.

Yelp
I went in wanting souse but they don't have that so I got the chicken in sauce w the rice and peas and plantains. I just finished eating and gotta put it out there, they kicked ass on that... delicious!! Great price too!

Yelp
Where do I start? I ordered two different plates, and everything was amazing. Everything tasted great and on point...with the right amount of spice. I wasn't too fond with the service because it was hard to get even a smile from the waitress, but I must say everything was ready in a reasonable time. Besides that the music was wonderful, sitting outside eating Caribbean food was an amazing experience. I will definitely go there again and recommend it to all of my Caribbean, friends and family!!!

Yelp
Best griot hands down. I was in search of the most perfect griot and I found this spot. It is so good I love it I recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
Found this Haitian restaurant late night riding with my boyfriend looking for something to eat. They were just getting ready to close and we walked in. They still took our order that shows good customer service. We ordered the Griot with rice and beans. The food was good. The passion fruit drink was amazing. For it to late night and they were closing the came out fresh and hot. Looking for some good Haitian food. Check them out. Real authentic.

Yelp
I picked up dinner at this location yesterday evening. I paid with my debit card and didn't realize that they never returned my card to me. As of this morning, there were over 10 fraudulent charges on my account. I was on the phone with Bank of America discussing these fraudulent charges up to a few minutes ago. While on the phone with BoA, they were still actively trying to commit more fraud and do more transactions with my debit card. They are absolutely disgusting! Don't buy from this restaurant!

Khadijah H.

Yelp
They are so disrespectful for this one. Like every business there's good and bad days! I never had any issues in the past til recently 3 times back to back. People spend their hard earned money imagine starving and looking forward to some good haitian food and you get this crap... Like are you serious $19 for this crap!!! the order was wrong, I guess they were closing so they just threw it in the plate. Like cmon you run a business! Just shut it down if you don't care about quality..

Yelp
Worst service! First thing they Never placed my order then when they finally did ....they put it wrong in the system after waiting so long for my food I asked for a refund they didn't want to give me my money back for all the inconvenience! I will not be coming back here worst service RUDE!!

Yelp
I was not impressed with the food at all. On a positive note, customer service was great, place was clean, food was on time and they accept credit cards unlike most Haitian restaurants. I ordered Chicken, pinto beans and rice (diri kole & poule nan sos). Typically the aroma from the food leaves you salivating and wanting more. Unfortunately, after a few bite I ended up throwing the food in the trash. I wasted time and money...very disappointed!

Yelp
We order from Griot305 regularly and have always had good customer service, GREAT tasting and fresh Haitian food, and a short wait for our food. Everything we have tried off of the menu is tasty and made well! We'll continue to purchase from this great restaurant!

Yelp
One of my favorite easy eating spots in Miami. Great food and personal service. Outdoor seating which is great for pandemic purposes. Can't wait to get back to my WEEKLY visits.

Yelp
Just don't waste your time, save your money and find another Haitian restaurant. If you do decide to go there, prayerfully you enjoy it but if you don't, don't say I didn't warn you.

Yelp
Let me start off with this... the restaurant's setup is so beautiful & very welcoming from their Interior design, the choice of interior color ( the color is bright will put anyone in a happy mood) then the details of the light fixture, type of light & the layout of the food station & table arrangements was well thought of. Great Job!!! then the FOOD....was AMAZING REAL Haitian food the seasoning, texture, flavor & presentation was on point & then the drinks was GOOD! What I loved the most was that the owner came around & introduced himself to his customers & held intellectual conversations with each person. That alone will make anyone feel like they are home. I'm from New York , FL is my 2nd home & I'll be back for SURE !!

Yelp
I order food from here on a fairly regular basis (about once a week) and I've always enjoyed my meals. For some reason, this time the food was less than mediocre. The turkey was not seasoned well. The rice and beans, and the white rice, tastes like soapy water. It was inedible and I couldn't finish my meal at all. I hope that next time, the food won't have this issue.

Yelp
I went here with a couple of friends for lunch and I'm so glad that I did. We all had the griot and it was amazing! I've been thinking about it all day and I can't wait to go back. By the way, griot is fried pork. It comes with tostones, rice and beans, and a pickled veggie dipping sauce (fire!). When we went it was just opening so not too many people were there but I hear that it's jumping on the weekends at night.

Tee H.

Yelp
Best Griot in town its seasoned to perfection and had a nice spice to it. Hands down his recipe delivers. One visit and you will be back for more.

Yelp
First time trying Haitian food and it was delicious. I recommend the pork and the snapper. The rice was also good as well. Great company

Fred E.

Yelp
First time having Haitian food and it was very good I recommend the fried pork. Also the fresh squeezed passion fruit was outstanding!

Tharah L.

Yelp
I order from here often and they NEVER actually place phone orders. I always have to wait at the restaurant for 20+ minutes no matter when I place a phone order. The customer service is subpar, but I keep coming back because it's close to home and the food is actually good.

Christine S.

Yelp
The griot was great!!! I ordered the food early and picked it up. The owner was very personable and kind.
