Since planning our trip to Dollywood, the biggest "must" I've read was to get at least 1 loaf of cinnamon bread. I was excited for the hype and maybe I shouldn't have listened to the hype as much as I did. The cinnamon bread is good, don't get me wrong! It's baked perfectly, soft, and warm. It tastes exactly like a cinnamon roll. My problem is the sugar crystals on the bottom. The sugar content hits you hard and you have to prepare the doctor as to why you suddenly have diabetes after years of great health. Jokes aside, it's too sweet on the bottom, so best to avoid licking the pan (in my opinion, my husband disagrees).
Now, we are coming back home to NC with three new loaves of cinnamon bread and tiny tubs of icing...after already finishing one loaf in a night's sitting. However, it is homemade and I'm pretty confident I can make this cinnamon bread myself.
The employees were super nice. A gentleman checked us out and gave us an extra icing for free without asking. The lady packaging the breads gave us a bag upon request and packaged it for us (while other customers were doing it themselves). We really did have 5 star service!
Is the bread worth the hype? I mean, it's worth some hype but maybe I just didn't join the Cinnamon Bread cult...yet.
