"This tiny mountain diner is the best-known breakfast spot in town, and has the lines outside to prove it. But we're here to tell you the food is excellent and worth the wait, even if it's heavy enough to put you right back to sleep. The portions are enormous, whether it's the plate-sized pancakes, a three-fried egg blanket on top of hashbrowns, or something poetically named "the blob" (it's biscuits and gravy). Share your breakfast with a friend, or you'll never make it up the trail. " - sylvio martins, garrett snyder, brant cox

"If you only have one meal out in Big Bear, make it at Grizzly Manor Cafe. This tiny roadside breakfast shack is the best-known restaurant in town and it has the lines waiting outside to prove it. And we’re here to tell you it’s worth it. The food is greasy excellence and the portions are enormous. Split those pancakes with a friend or you’re never making it up the trail." - Brant Cox

Google
Worth stopping in at least once for the experience. The pancakes are huge, bigger than plate. A very busy spot, expect to wait 15-30 minutes. It's a smaller done making the most of their space; open kitchen set- up. Quick service once you are seated. The food is good and several choices of pancakes to include gluten-free. Everyone at our table enjoyed the plates ordered.

Our experience at this place was incredible! The friendly staff and food were worth the 35-minute wait. We used the time to select our orders from the menu, and once seated, we ordered promptly. The hash browns were cooked to a perfect crisp, and the food was outstanding, making the wait well worth it. Make sure to include this place on your itinerary if you're in Big Bear!

So, are you looking for a great place to eat breakfast while visiting Big Bear Lake? Well, look no further than the Grizzly Manor Café, but we warn you, you better bring an oversized appetite because the breakfast portions are enormous. Our eyes were much bigger than our stomachs and we should have simply shared a meal, especially if you order pancakes or a specialty omelet. As for the taste and quality of the meal, simply one of the best breakfast meals you will find anywhere. As for the staff, every one of them had wonderful attitudes, funny yet professional and they sure made us laugh a time or two. This is not a very big restaurant with only a limited number of tables and some counter seating but what they lack in size they make up for it in the size of their meals and the prices are great. There is plenty of free parking on the side of the restaurant and the interior of the restaurant is decorated in a way to honor many who served in the United States Military, which makes it alright in our book any day of the week. Bottom line, great staff, fantastic food with supersized portions and all at a great price and served with a friendly smile. Thank you.

Google
Had a late breakfast here on our way out of town after having been up for a wedding. The staff was all super friendly and had a great vibe. The spot is small but they accommodated our party of 17 with no trouble and still had room for more customers. The food was absolutely delicious and came out super quick. You can see the chef cooking from where we sat and he was nonstop as was the rest of the staff. Portion sizes were beyond generous and everyone left very full. Would absolutely visit again if I'm up in Big Bear.

Google
Amazing food. Amazing service. Best breakfast in Big Bear Lake. Truly one of the best places for a local owned restaurant. The French toast is delicious. Over medium eggs were perfect. The breakfast burrito was enormous and made to order with the ingredients I wanted.

Google
Delicious food without a doubt, and legit cool & friendly staff ..but I personally don't come here. It's too crowded, there are crazy long lines and wait times, full of tourists, it's just too much. But again, the breakfast here is amazing and large portions. A little pricey, overall recommend if you don't mind waiting in line.

Google
First time in the Grizzly Manor Cafe. It was excellent and huge portions. My husband who is a pretty good eater couldn’t even finish his food. The staff were amazing and very attentive. Great experience. The restaurant itself is small so be prepared to wait a little. We only waited about 15 minutes, but larger parties seem to have a 30 minute wait.

Stopped in for breakfast. Wait was about 30 min. However, they have some benches outside that are shaded, so it wasn't bad. It's seems odd, but the most annoying thing about the wait was their front door. It slammed shut every time it was opened and closed. Think this just caused by memories of getting yelled at for letting the door slam shut when younger. Anyways, the atmosphere was comfortable, and there were things to look at everywhere. Music was great. Crew working was very cheerful, friendly, and fast. Food was pretty good except for the hashbrowns they were so overcooked that I felt like I was eating canned potato sticks. They were horrible. They were not just crispy on the outside. The whole pile was crispy inside and out.

Yelp
As a part timer we eat many many places and have for years but this is our favorite breakfast place and our first choice because we love the food but we also enjoy the amazing customer service no matter how busy they are- which is always ! Camille is the sweetest and we love her !! Biscuits and gravy + hash browns (fav) French Toast The blob

Yelp
This is a very cozy little breakfast spot in Big Bear. They have an open kitchen. There are stickers and dollar bills all over the walls. It was busy when we got there on a Sunday morning but we were immediately sat and the service was fast. I ordered the SOS which comes with hash browns, ground beef and gravy over sourdough bread. I switched out the sourdough for rye bread. Everything tasted really good.

Yelp
The Grizzly Manor cafe! At 7AM in the morning, on a Friday, the place was bustling. There was no wait to sit, but man was the place busy. When you enter the single room cafe, you're met with a ton of stickers. I mean stickers covering the walls and roof. It's a pretty cool sight! As for the food, the portions are HUGE!!! It may seem pretty pricey for 8-9 bucks for a single pancake, but that pancake will is larger than the largest dinner plate. Definitely would recommend splitting meal between someone if you don't feel like taking food home. The food and the service was wonderful and would def be coming back here if I'm ever in Big Bear :) In my photo you'll see that there are two portions of pancakes and chicken fried steak, but it's actually just ONE portion split into two!!! My SO and I probably could've just split half of the food they give us

Arleen S.

Yelp
I thought I left a review before but I love this place. My wife and I came up this past weekend and had some brunch lol as I am not an early bird. The food portions are HUGE so we recommend to share. Last time I got a pancake that was probably the size of a 12" plate. The employees are very kind and the food is good! The best part is the HOT CHOCOLATE! Soooo good! I also love that this place recognizes military and first responders as they have photos and patches on their walls..along with thousands of stickers lol. Check it out!

Yelp
A convenient little breakfast diner in Big Bear. There's a good-sized open parking lot adjacent to the restaurant but the diner itself is pretty small so plan to wait in line. We put our name on the list and waited for about 40 minutes before we got counter table seating. All the food is prepared very greasy...Lots of oil and lots of butter. The pancakes were huge and could barely fit on an entree plate. The hash browns were cooked "extra crispy" just how I like them. I usually have to specifically ask for that at other places but this was how they cook it here by default, so I really appreciated that. I'm glad I only got the lite eater (1 egg, 2 slices bacon, hash browns and biscuit) cuz that was very filling for me. I don't think I could have handled much more greasiness.

Yelp
Another trip to Big Bear means a stop at Grizzly Manor Cafe! Of course had to have coffee which I do like here because it's not strong and is actually really good! Today I got the waffle combo. oh my goodness the waffles are so good here. The combo came with 2 eggs and choice of meat - ham, bacon or sausage. It's actually one of the few places where I will get waffles. My BF got the French Toast which came with 2-eggs, bacon and hash browns. I was so sad as my didn't come with hash browns lucky for me he shared. They were so freaken good!!! Nice and crunchy how I love them. The workers are GREAT here! It's a small diner with a BIG attitude LOL! Plan on having to wait 20-30 minutes sometimes longer depending what day/time you go. It's well worth the wait!

Yelp
This is our go to spot for breakfast when in Big Bear. Gotta love the huge pancake, so buttery good! Love the hometown feel here. It gets pretty busy but the service is on point.

Ashley E.

Yelp
We were visiting big bear, decided to try this place out. Cozy and fun atmosphere. We didn't wait to long for a Monday morning to be seated. They are CASH only so keep that in mind. I love the little decorations all over the restaurant. People are signing stuff and posting it on the wall the ceiling. I ordered eggs, crispy, bacon with hash brown, and a side of sourdough bread. It was very delicious. Even the hashbrowns were homemade they kind of tasted cheesy. My boyfriend had ham , eggs and a very large pancake. He loved all his food. I also enjoyed their coffee. the mug is pretty big size. My boyfriend ended up putting our name on a Mexican dollar and it's somewhere in there hanging :) check this place out if you are visiting, definitely worth it!

Merle D.

Yelp
We started our weekend trip at Grizzly Manor Cafe and had enough for breakfast the next day. The Pancakes are over a foot in diameter and all the other portions match that. Great food! Great People! No wonder I had seen so many good reviews ahead of mine. Also take the get there early note to heart. This restaurant has very limited seating!

Andrea R.

Yelp
Pretty good spot. The portions are huge. However the pancakes looked better than it tasted it was a bit dry and crumbly. Their hashbrowns were nice and crispy.

Katriel O.

Yelp
So every time we pass by this place is PACKED, finally got to try it on a Monday afternoon. The place is really small, but the vibe is great. Walked in to warm, smiley faces and employees jammin' to good music. Veeeery small restaurant so do not recommend for huge groups, better off taking to go! However, MASSIVE servings with fair prices, my favorites were the chicken fried steak that was the size of my hand and their sausage. You will definitely have plenty of leftovers to save for later!

Julie D.

Yelp
Cozy little spot with outstanding service! What impressed us most about this little cafe was the outstanding wait staff. Come on the weekends, be prepared to wait a bit for a table but the food and service were worth it. I enjoyed a classic cheese omelet with toast and hash browns

Lizelle P.

Yelp
Came here at 11am on a Saturday morning. The parking lot was full and there were people waiting outside. That to me said this place is possibly worth the wait! I went in out my name down and was told there was a 40 minute wait. I loved the causal chill vibes of the cafe and the fun decor - the front door, walls and ceilings were covered with stickers and currency from all over the world. The staff are super sweet and also efficient. Our food came out pretty quick and was absolutely heavenly. The buttermilk pancakes are massive and soo good! You do get a to go box if you can't finish it all. The French toast was also superb! Would come here everyday of the trip had it not been for the long wait.

Berenice A.

Yelp
Food was great along with service. Ambiance is cool fun different. If you want a table with no wait be early it does get crowded fast. I had the pancake and hot chocolate that was more than enough. But it was sooo good.

Yelp
This is a cozy little breakfast place. Very busy place with huge portions. This is also a feel good all-American dinner with stickers plastered all over the premises. Service was good and the inside was packed. Getting here at 7:30am still requires a 25 minute wait. Non-stop hot coffee. People are shoulder to shoulder eating next to each other. Great for a chilly day. We ordered the Grizzly and Polar bear. The hash browns were crunchy and the sunny side up eggs were perfect. The chocolate pancakes were delicious and double the size. The biscuits and gravy were massive.

ra l.

Yelp
3.5 stars, Visiting from out of town. Saw the many reviews. Love the local feel and ambiance. Welcoming, friendly. Love the decor and good local spot. Biscuit and gravy needs improvement. Biscuits are dense and dry and gravy lack flavor. Pork chops were on the dry side. Pancakes here are prolly the best I had anywhere. My kids and I devoured it. Very impressed with the cook/chef. I think he single handed cooked all the orders for the entire customers. Food came out efficiently. I really hoped to like more of the food. But might come back for the pancakes they are that good.

Sabrina L.

Yelp
On president day , arrived here around 1230pm for a brunch, the parking lot was full, the front door was packed with waiting crowd. And we waited for about an hour and got in. And we ordered the food right after we got seated. Inside is small and crowded, and the cooking station inside --- definitely you can smell it. And the walls and ceilings all painted or decorated with random stickers or momentary notes. Quite casual. The food served really fast, forgot to take a picture on my kids ' orders :strawberry waffle and giant butter milk pancake. Kids enjoyed it. I ordered the pork chops, the one hour wait definitely made the food more tasty. And the pork chop was right, not dry and easy to chew. Great portion as well. The hash browns were a bit greasy for me , and the over easy eggs were fresh. Definitely you can see the plating is too casual as well, it tastes better than it looks. The restaurant was fun to go with family when the line is not too crazy. And you plan to eat a lot :)

Troy O.

Yelp
Very nice place for a huge breakfast. Portions were enormous. We split a Polar Bear. It was still too much food for two people. The place was very busy and we had about a 15 minute wait. Others that came after us had a much longer wait. We enjoyed the food (pancakes were bigger than the plate). If you're in Big Bear, give the "Grizzly" a chance, you'll be glad you did.

Irma C.

Yelp
Hubby and I tried this place for the first time and we loved it! Both food and service was great Will definitely come back.

Lisa T.

Yelp
Huge pancakes. Service was good. Looks like a place locals love and the place was full so there might be a line. Menu has many options. Don't forget to leave your signed dollar taped to the ceiling or wall!

meloni c.

Yelp
The breakfast was fantastic. The pancake was bigger than the plate. I had the sissy which was a pancake, 2 eggs, bacon and it was done to perfection. The staff was so fun and inviting. I definitely recommend and will be a repeat customer

Ella Y.

Yelp
This restaurant is REALLY small where we had to find parking nearby, but the food was amazing and a big size for the amount that you pay for. I ended up taking some of my breakfast home in a box because I couldn't finish it. Expect this place to be BUSY on weekends, and during peak hours like breakfast time. Once we were sat inside, our server was attentive and friendly, service was FAST, and the food was enjoyable and tasty.

Hannah S.

Yelp
For the vibes. It's a little hole in the wall diner-esque spot that serves classic American breakfast foods. It's all very greasy (maybe a little too greasy) but overall enjoyable. We ordered the eggs, pancakes, hash browns, coffee, and hot chocolate. The pancake is a hoot. It's very very VERY large-- like spilling over the plate -- so that was a showstopper. I felt as though I might have a heart attack if I eat here everyday, but the food certainly matched the small town vibes of the trip. Service was great overall! They made up a fun hot chocolate with extra whipped cream for my friend, and tended to our needs well. However, the place was crowded, even on a Monday morning. So I'd say some around 30 mins earlier than anticipated to put your names in. The place is small and there's not many table:

Laura W.

Yelp
If it has manor in the name I was expecting a grand mansion restaurant. Man was I humbled when I saw it. Nonetheless, this restaurant is so fun! Reading the menu definitely gave us giggle and good laugh. Hearing the music and seeing all the stickers on the wall proves this restaurant has been standing for a long time. The food came pretty quick and was delicious! The staff are incredible and friendly. Tables are limited so if you're bringing your entire family of 7+ maybe this isn't the best option unless you want be separated. However, also don't let overstay your welcome. There are other people waiting outside also wanting to experience this wonderful restaurant :) Support the locals, come in, eat and head out the door to see the rest of Big Bear

Itzel T.

Yelp
THIS IS THE BREAKFAST SPOT IN BIG BEAR. Now if you don't like greasy food, don't come here. I got the Rudy scramble and my husband got the blob. The scramble was so good and the hash browns were so good and crispy. I loved my food that I made my husband take me again the next day. My husband loved his meal too. The time we went with a big group it took a 1.5 hr wait to get us seated and they separated us since it's a really tiny place and they can't be moving around tables. The service was fast and the servers were really nice.

Felicia M.

Yelp
I'm going to start off with the good things about this place. The portions are huge. The food is good. Nothing extraordinary. But I would have eaten here again had the service not been so terrible. Our servers seemed to not care about the customers. They were very rude and short. The coffee comes boiling hot I waited for the waitress to come and check on us to ask for some ice so I could drink my coffee she never did so I paid for a coffee I was unable to drink. I had to chase down my server after waiting a good while for my check. This place gets extremely packed. However that shouldn't impact the servers attitude when dealing with customers. I will go to Jack in the box long before I step foot in this establishment ever again. I hope management takes this into consideration and talks to her females servers.

Gus T.

Yelp
$39 for two breakfast. I got biscuits and gravy with 2 eggs. My partner got the chicken fried steak meal. They I guess were supposed to give me bacon. But they didn't. Go to Dennys!

Brianna L.

Yelp
Pros: * Delicous! Great breakfast options * Staff is cool and they have great service * The inside is so cool with stickers and messages everywhere. Cons: * N/A Extra: * Very limited parking & seats for eating. Expect to wait during the busy times

Seb R.

Yelp
So we are back for our annual trip to Big Bear and that trip cannot be complete without a visit to Grizzly Manor Cafe. This place just continues to knock it out of the park. We ordered the same thing we always order and it was so good and of course we are leaving with a to go box for the pancakes. Which is really good warmed up! The staff here from the wait staff to the cooks are just amazing. This is my most recommended establishment. It's always worth the wait!!!

Zofia G.

Yelp
Grizzly Manor Cafe offers a delightful breakfast experience that satisfies on all fronts. The café's ambiance is uniquely appealing, adorned with an array of cool scribbles on the walls that add character and charm. The service here matches the cheerful setting, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a pleasant visit. When it comes to the food, Grizzly Manor truly shines. Their prices are reasonable, reflecting good value for the quality and quantity of food served. The pancakes are a must-try item; they are famously humongous, spilling over the edges of the plates, perfect for those with a hearty morning appetite. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this café promises a memorable and satisfying meal in a quirky and inviting environment.

Korie B.

Yelp
Loved the fact that this is a mom and pop shop! I loved the food, service and ambiance. Camille was our server for 6 people and she was so on top of it. Will definitely come back, it's small so if there is a wait......it's worth the wait.

Joshua Z.

Yelp
The pancakes the pancakes the pancakes. Don't choke. Get the pancakes. Everything else is solid enjoyable breakfast food with a great local diner vibe. But these pancakes Holly cow. Massive cakes and unreal flavor.

Emily L.

Yelp
My husband and I had a very pleasant experience here. We loved the food, the environment, and the service. Everything was fun and we would definitely return. It is small and tight, so be prepared for a wait, but it was worth the 25 minutes for us.

Monica R.

Yelp
Great customer service great food. I would give it a 10 out of 10. The place is small, so don't get discouraged if you have to wait, they take people in and out very quickly. You can also place orders for pick up.

Brigette G.

Yelp
It is a small touristy restaurant. Nice small spot with stickers all over walls ceiling doors. They give you good portions. The pancakes are delicious. Everything is pretty good. Service is really quick but be prepared to wait! The earlier you get there the better. But expect a 30 minute wait at least.

Sinji K.

Yelp
Found this little gem while we were at Big bear! This place is super popular it's best to go early morning. We waited about 45min on Sunday and the wait was worth it. We ordered Blueberry pancakes, French toast, and Rudy scramble for 4 people to share. The portions were huge and service was great. I hope to try their hot chocolate next time we visit.

Lawrence K.

Yelp
This place came highly recommended from friends and now I come here for breakfast every time I'm in Big Bear. There's no way I can come and not stop by for some food. I've been coming here for the past two years now and it never disappoints me. I try something new every time and have loved everything. On my previous visit I had the French Toast and it was amazing. This time I had to try the Blob and my friends tried the different pancakes. Then tomorrow I'm definitely going for their waffles. The place isn't that big, so make sure you get there early or you'll have a little wait because everyone loves the food here. It has a nice old school diner slash nostalgic feel to it. You definitely can't go to Big Bear and not have breakfast here at least once.

Andrea V.

Yelp
This place was open as soon as we got into big bear at 6am so we came here to have some breakfast. We came with our two medium size pups and we're able to find a seat in a back corner. It's a small quaint place with all the charm a small breakfast joint in big bear has to offer. The waiter was quick with taking our order, I ordered a captain John and I was SHOCKED when I saw the pancake was bigger than the plate it was even sitting on! Portions are plenty nice, I couldn't even finish the pancake. I'd go back and maybe order just a pancake

Lydia S.

Yelp
I came here, but left due to it being really busy and went to another breakfast place, but came back earlier than yesterday. It's pretty small inside and it gets really busy! So I would really recommend coming in super early especially if your party is big. The food is so tasty and the plates are huge !! I wish I took a picture of the food we ordered, but completely forgot!! The hash browns are so good and soft not crispy burnt like other places. The staff is very friendly as well!

Ellen K.

Yelp
Was originally going to give them 3 stars. Went down to 1 because THEY UPCHARGE YOUR CHECK. MAKE SURE TO READ IT OVER. The check of our 4 items totaled to $101....... HOW? We told them and they gave us a new check that was about $30 cheaper. MAKE SURE TO READ YOUR CHECK. The HASHBROWNS are crispy and pretty good. - Biscuits & Gravy 3.2/5 Biscuits are thick, gravy is OK. - French Toast 1.8/5 Tastes kind of eggy, a little bit of cinnamon. Meh. - Pork Chop 1.7/5 The most dry pork chops ever... not sure what I was thinking ordering this. - Country Fried Steak (BEEF) 2.1/5 The menu says 'chicken fried steak' but it's BEEF. I think they use a hamburger patty for it? It's pretty chewy... Free parking in the back

Jennifer C.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot, with large portions. It's a small place, so expect a wait. We waited about 20 minutes on a Saturday morning. There are plenty of posted pics of the place on Yelp for your review. We would come back for breakfast if n the area again.

Sandy C.

Yelp
Had breakfast with my family here today, was my first time coming here and I already can't wait to come back. Place is really small and tight but comfortable and welcoming. Workers are all super nice and food didn't take long to come out, good thing when you're starving! Wait was a little long but it tells you that this place must be good. I ordered a build your own omelette with spinach, onions and jalapeños, it's a lot of food but really good! My husband had the strawberry pancake and biscuits and gravy, everything was tasty. They closed at 2:00 today, I haven't checked but that may be their regular closing time, make sure you get here early.

Mike C.

Yelp
I read the reviews and I don't get how people gave this a 5 Star. It is like a Zero Star for service and 1 star for the food. The pancake that looked good in the photo was doughy and undercooked in real life. The hash browns were the same as the ones in the grocery store. The toast was not fully cooked or sliced. The ham was good. The kitchen did not look clean. The Service was HORRID! When I arrived they said a 30 minute wait for two people. This turned in to an hour. The staff is unorganized. The horrid server never checked on us in the tiny spaced restaurant. You would think common sense would say to either ask or bring out syrup with the pancakes, or a water, or ketchup, or see if I am missing some utensils. BTW, she was not friendly either. We kept having to ask her assistant for items. Unfortunately, you get servers who think they are good, because they get an average tip, but don't realize on how poor their service really is and needs improvement. I had a better breakfast at "El Rincon" down the street with much better service and food.

Corey G.

Yelp
Enormous pancakes, small atmosphere covered in hand placed stickers. And plenty of staff to keep your coffee hot!

Jessica L.

Yelp
Long wait but that's to be expected for its popularity in a small town! It's diner food with lots of butter, grease, and cheese. Yummy if not the lightest experience. The restaurant is a small hole in the wall with lots of stickers and decor. I enjoyed it, but I was in a food coma the rest of the morning!

S W.

Yelp
We love this place and eat here all the time. Staff is friendly, cooks are great, food is affordable and vibe is amazing! I highly recommend stopping in here.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
This is the BEST breakfast on our beautiful mountain.... Gavel way down. Best eggs. Best Bacon and Sausage and hash browns. INCREDIBLE pancakes. As a creature of habit I always get the Light Eater but usually nibble on whatever my old dad gets. The staff...... I LOVE THESE PEOPLE. The wait staff might be the nicest people on earth. Attentive, patient and accommodating always. The cooks are brilliant and cook my eggs exactly perfect every time. The owner Mary is just incredible. She loves her customers, her restaurant and her employees!! She genuinely provides quality food and memorable experience ! Believe me, even if there's a little wait on busy mornings or weekends..... it's worth every minute! It's a must for all our visitors and locals alike!!!

Jarek M.

Yelp
We decided to try this place based on good Yelp ratings. Unfortunately, the food quality and cleanliness of this place didn't reflect the good ratings at all. The food was very oily. The hash-brown tasted like it was prepared in old oil that was reused one time too many. Same goes for omelette. The tables didn't look clean. Probably because many people come here lured by four stars and the staff don't have time to keep up with cleaning routines. Our server was nice. That's the only good experience from our visit.
