It has been so many years (over 20 years ago) since I stopped in at this store to do some shopping. That is too long to be away from a grocery store that has more than plenty of bargains. Thus, it is indeed appropriate to call it Grocery Outlet Bargain Market.
I am at this store with one of my sisters as a preliminary to the soft opening of the Grocery Outlet in Alameda. I did not want to buy too many heavy weight items as we would be walking for about eight blocks to Grand & Webster to board a shuttle bus to the Uptown part of Oakland. As I get older, it is becoming more difficult to carry four bags of grocery (two bags in each hand) and walk for eight blocks. There is no need for me to buy a cart full of groceries when I know I would be at another Grocery Outlet later in the early evening.
Browsing around, going from aisle to aisle, I like what I see - shelves that are well stocked with canned goods, breads, snacks, spices, etc. The drawback is the selection of pet food for dogs and cats, limited to what is on hand compared to other supermarkets.
Even though I will not be doing return visits to this Grocery Outlet, I will be doing some of my grocery shopping at the one in Alameda, which is closer to my home and more convenient for me.
