We Went Behind the Scenes at Qantas' 10th Annual Wine Week

"I was told that Jeffrey Grosset has supplied Qantas with Grosset Riesling from the Clare Valley for more than 25 years, and he emphasized that showcasing outstanding Australian wines on long flights exposes them to an international audience and allows travelers time to discover and remember small producers’ work." - Ashley Day

Why Adelaide Is Australia’s Most Exciting Food and Wine Destination

"I noted that Jeffrey Grosset, who put the Clare Valley on the map, continues meticulous work with riesling, producing precise, bone-dry wines—one of which is even allocated exclusively to Qantas business class." - Kevin West Kevin West Kevin West is a writer, food consultant, and “canning evangelist” (according to NPR). We had the best experience at the tasting - the host was so knowledgeable and personable, she took the time to really explain the winemakers process and what’s unique about the region. The wine was delicious, and the conversation was stimulating. An unmissable stop on the Riesling Trail!

Nice wine, but really poor service. We went for a tasting, but the lady didn’t introduce anything about the wines — no explanation of how they were made, what made them different, or any background at all. She just poured the wine without any interaction, so we couldn’t learn or connect the tasting experience with the winemaking. Quite disappointing.

Was recommended to their cellar as it only opened twice a year for a month or sloght more each? Have come across their wines, especially their whites, always pitched at premium prices.. after this visit, I understood why.. and was really surprised to learn that Riesling can age beautifully over decades.. wow. Delicate, clean, delicious, slightly perfumed.. very engaging, and you need to take your time to enjoy.. We would recommend dropping by when it's opened! It's worth the visit! By the way, nearby, you can spot some alpacas too!!

I had a superb experience at Grosset. Their approach to viticulture (organic and biodynamic) is very much reflected in their stunning wines. I could taste the heart and sole in all their wines! Our host, I think her name was Sue, was extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. Note* Grosset is only open for a short window in spring each year (open only around 6 weeks) Book ahead to secure a chance to try the benchmark for Clare wines

Lovely wine tasting experience! Each of the 5 wines we tasted was beautiful with unique characteristics. In particular, the Pinot noir and the Cabernet wines were fantastic with complex notes. The lady we spoke to was very insightful and helpful in her recommendations of the region as well. Would highly recommend people drop by while they’re open as they’re only open during two periods of the year!

This was a lovely cellar door experience, with lovely atmosphere and attentive, friendly staff. The Rieslings are a wonderful expression of the Clare Valley, created by a pioneer of the industry who was instrumental in the move to screwcap closures at the turn of the century.

the one great sadness of our recent clare valley visit was not to be able to go here. i was so much looking forward to visiting grosset. this is “the” master of reisling…along with the other master at mount horrock wines next door 😉. if you go to the area and they are open and you are a reisling fan, this is the one.

Wish I could rate .5 star. I visited Grosset with a group of work mates and we all work in the wine industry so we have sound knowledge of wine. We were taken aback by our customer service experience. I asked some somewhat technical questions (which I always ask when I visit wineries and fairly simple to find the answer) they didn’t answer my question ultimately and talked down to me like I was a typical cellar door visitor. They were also rude to my mates. Really unfortunate these things happened since Grosset is widely known and the winery we work at even recommended to taste the wines. We also drove all the way to Clare just to taste a few wines with grapes from the Hills region where we work. Was hoping for more wines with fruit based in Clare
