"Ground Central is where you go when you’re in Midtown and you have work to do but no office to do it in. Although, if you’re in the neighborhood, you could also just come here to hang out and drink something caffeinated. There’s a nice sitting area with couches in the back, and they offer free wifi." - Neha Talreja, Nikko Duren, Carina Finn Koeppicus

"Yes, it’s a silly name. But it’s much better than meeting up anywhere where they’re going to misspell your name in sharpie on your grande to-go cup. Ground Central has a back room that feels like a parlor room in a wealthy person’s home. It’s a little dark back here, but that will only help you forget you’re having a date in Midtown." - Hannah Albertine

"Ground Central is a Midtown coffee shop with a back room that looks kind of like someone’s library, and it’s a nice spot for a meeting with a few people who eventually need to get on a train home to Connecticut. The back room is pretty dark, but on the plus side, the area’s normal chorus of jackhammers, horns, and sirens feels somewhat muted." - Matt Tervooren

Their house blend coffee was full bodied and well brewed. It had earthy tones with flavors of pine nut and milk chocolate. The cafe itself is semi-spacious, with tables in the front and a library-style room in the back. Great place to get work done!

Google
Cool coffee shop with plenty of seating. The coffee was good, but the staff was not very friendly. Not mean. Just not friendly. They sell some food and teas. I came here in my search to find a good coffee shop to work in … not for me. It would be great for others but not for me. Why? Music is very loud and the wifi sucks. There is a small room in the back with couches that is quieter but it was hot and your the loud guy if you need to make a call. Now, making calls was not the issue, it was the bad wifi. If you need a coffee shop without wifi that is loud, this place is great. It is quaint and comfy with the couches and the old school look. Space - large with lots of seating Staff - not so friendly Prices - moderate to high Work - they welcome people to work on laptops.

Great coffeeshop to hang out and have a good time. I was super productive when I was there. Got a lot done. It has this cool, nonchalant vibe to it. The lights are dimmed, and it makes working so much more relaxing. I planned on staying there for 2 hrs, I ended up being there for 5. The coffee was good, the baristas were all friendly and welcoming. It was really nice.

Ground Central is a rare Oasis. I think it is a great place to meet someone in a venue which doesn't look, feel and act like your standard fare, cookie cutter, chain coffee shop. It has a great deal of old style charm with a comfortable reading room in the back, complete with library of books and comfortable chairs and seating. There are also smaller tables in the front to provide a good amount of comfortable seating and a hip and modern looking decor and oozing charm and ambiance. I enjoyed my mocha coffee, which was quite rich. Other small muffins and scones are also available.

Ground Central is one of the best cafes I've been to anywhere. The design of the bar is unique and interesting, the coffee is outstanding and the service was great and full of fun. The staff here all appear to enjoy their work and have fun being a part of their customers' days.

As an Australian I have to firstly admit that I think the coffee is the USA is horrendous…. It’s swill…. That was until while in New York we came across the most fantastic coffee shop, Ground Central Coffee Company, 155 East 52nd Street, 3rd Ave, New York, NY 10022 It only has a small shop front but once you enter you discover a classy new coffee world. The staff there were outstanding, daily banter while working hard serving the never ending stream of loyal patrons. The front of the shop has a wonderful vibe, a modern, trendy feel, then the surprise happens and you walk up the back and find the Coffee ‘speak easy’ with its library, lounges and ark relaxed feel…. A true place to relax, chat and enjoy the best coffee we had for our entire USA holiday. We travelled from the West Coast, through the centre and to the East Coast and by far, this coffee was the best. But a good coffee only goes so far… the staff were excellent, treating us like locals for our stay in the Big Apple. Knowing our daily order and generally being great people. So if you love a quality coffee this is the place!

As a “pseudo coffee drinker,” I really enjoyed my latte here. The baristas don’t put lids on the coffee so you can see the cute latte hearts and save plastic. The milk foam was not too airy or too dense and the coffee tasted good. We noticed what looked like a nifty additional water filtration system. The environment is nice and there is seating. The staff were nice and really tried to spell our names correctly on the coffee cups. There are many snack options.

Their espresso was super rich, reminiscent of chocolate. We went before hitting up MOMA, great way to start the day and it wasn’t crowded at all. Their back room is super cute with all the books, but I wish they had an outdoor setup!
