Grounded Coffee Cafe

Coffee and flavors are cheap. The staff was nice and polite and didn't have any problem with them. I walked there because I read they have great reviews. I got a mocha latte and a London fog for my husband. I think they used chai tea something with those profiles. My coffee was horrible and left a nasty taste. I only took 2 drinks and I still have the bad taste in it. Others then Starbucks and Café Du Monde I haven't found good quality coffee here.

We order this place for delivery a lot. The coffee is top notch and the food is tasty, my only complaint is the very light application of toppings to the bagel. I've gotten both the Nutella and the Cream Cheese, and whoever is applying the bagel topping is applying it thinly like butter rather than a proper bagel schmear. I will say when I request extra they do accommodate. Not worth a bad review I just always wonder who is making these bagels and if they even personally like bagels. Lol

Honestly, sandwich portions here are very, very small for the price. Not enough to fill you up or to justify the price. No sides included. Food is tasty, it’s the portion size that’s the issue. Coffee and and pastries are comparable to other cafes. Nice coffee shop to sit down, work, study and enjoy coffee but if you’re hungry grab lunch elsewhere.

Nola frozen my go to coffee here. Delicious! Just tried the caprese salad 🥗 also delicious! Breakfast is also good here. Can't wait to try other things on the menu!!!! Always greeted and treated spectacular as well! Loved the music today too!

Discovered a Gem. Please note the "...was a Roast Beef on Cibbata" photo. I'm in the middle of my Greek salad commenting on the dressing when "Google Review" hit me. Unfortunately, by that time my family's review was ahead of me. That empty plate is their review! This visit was a "let's stop here" moment and sometimes that just works out. It did today. We had Roast Beef on Cibbata, Greek Salad, and a Blueberry muffin. No coffee to comment on this visit. But, since we will go back, not to worry. Charming little restaurant with an atmosphere to match.

Was not impressed whatsoever. Service was slow and unfriendly. New person at the register got upset with me after she placed my order. Asked me if I had exited out of the screen. I said I paid in cash and didn't even touch the register. This was immediately after I had told her to put the change in the tip jar. Can't believe her memory was that bad- or if she was that frazzled by the line that has accumulated from her struggling with said register. Whichever the case, it left a bad taste in my mouth. There was no apology or even acknowledgement of her error besides an "Oh yeah!" Coffee was fresh but not strong. Was surprised by the lack of milk and sugar options available for patrons available on the counter. Totally expected some syrups and various types of milk available. Sandwich, as you can see in the picture, was barely filled. 1 layer of the toppings and I had multiple bites of just bread. Nothing about the sandwich was special nor unique. Bacon tasted like regular bacon and the bread was store-bought, not fresh bakery variety as others have mentioned in their reviews. Will not be back despite wanting to check out this place for years due to its high reviews and central location. Huge fail Yelp

I thought this coffee shop was quaint and in the heart of Jefferson. It was pretty packed for 10am. The place is decently sized, quite few tables inside and about 3 or 4 outside to dine at. There is a jug of water in the back next to the very clean bathrooms. The menus are on the wall and they have a good number of options for food, including bagels and lox, which I will get next time. Not many places offer that in Metry. I ended up ordering the special latte which was a chocolate and vanilla blend. It was tasty, rich, I like when placed offer chocolate and not mocha. There is a different between those flavors and chocolate always wins, yet not many places offer so again, glad they have this too. I also ordered the scrambled egg croissant with cheddar and ham. I did enjoy the croissant, it was flaky and butter, delicious. I also enjoyed the ham, had a sweetness to it. I did not love the cheddar or lack there was. It was very little cheese and honestly, with that delicate ham, it needed a better cheese like brie maybe or gruyere? Something to match that perfect buttery croissant. I did notice the menu online is not exactly the same as the one on the wall. I was interested in an Italian Bagel, but maybe that is offered other times of the year or maybe it was just not popular, but it sounded interesting. I should have asked if they had the ingredients to make it and probably will next time if I don't get my lox bagel. The lady that took my order was professional and personable with the regulars. I did like that the worker space is open to the dinners and you can see everything coming in and going out - it was a well designed space. The decor was quaint. Only thing I didn't like was there was not as much cleaning of the tables as I would like in between customers. Overall, very good experience and very tasy coffee.

Oh my goodness the lox and bagels was delicious . The Bagel was soft in the middle and crispy on the outside , paired with onion and chive smear was amazing . The service was outstanding and the atmosphere is like a great bagel shop. It was a very mature crowd. I love it

I stumbled upon this amazing coffee shop while taking a break on my morning bike ride. They have a wonderful selection of coffees and a delicious food menu. I am partial to the breakfast food items but hear from firends their lunch items are eqy delicious. The staff is very warm and the lady that owns the shop is friendly and welcoming to all guests. The shop is quaint amd decorated very nicely. Always willing to meet friends and make new ones there.

The place was very nice inside and not too much lighting, which was nice as well. The staff was really sweet and didn't have an issue answering my questions which made for a pleasant transaction. I ordered the lox and bagel to go and it was amazing. I found this place through Yelp so I wanted to make sure I also left a review.

I've passed by this coffee shop so many times and finally had an opportunity to stop in. Loved the vibe and the friendly, attentive service. They serve breakfast and lunch in addition to their coffee and other beverages. I got a turkey panini and a honey ginger peach iced tea. The panini had turkey, mozzarella, spinach, and sun dried tomatoes. It was a little bland to me if I'm being honest--all the elements were good, but tasted like they could use a little salt and seasoning. I asked for a little pesto on the side and that made all the difference; I cleaned by plate after that small tweak. I love peach tea, so I really enjoyed my drink. I got it sweetened with honey and it was bordering on too sweet, so I think I'll try it unsweetened next time to see how I like it. It's a great place to have a meeting, catch up with a friend, or get some work done. They have wifi and easy access to outlets for your devices. I'm for sure going to stop in again when I'm in the area.

Hubby and I wanted a breakfast sandwich but it was after 11am, so no such luck for most place. Yelp brought us here. Super cute coffee house with a few tables to sit and chill. I noticed that there were lots of options for sandwiches, coffees, teas, and pastries. We ordered an egg and cheese croissant and a caprese panini with sodas. The young lady who took our order was nice but she seemed super busy. Once we sat down, we noticed that the place was a little smoky from the cooking. Even if I wanted to sit and eat, I wouldn't have been of the smokiness. The sandwiches were EXCELLENT! We are definitely returning for to-go orders. One quick note- patrons get a percentage off if they use cash.

I was in town from Cali and decided to stop by after reading the reviews and how close I was to their spot. The vibe is cool. The music is unique and my drink is/was delicious. I decided to put my favorite flavors together and I was not disappointed. Somehow they knew just how to mix it all up.I

Cute little coffee shop that has a small menu. I was craving a bagel this morning and their photo showed a bagel so I was sold. But when I got there, after viewing their menu, I changed my mind. There are only three types of bagels; everything, plain or wheat and the only cream cheese I saw advertised was either plain or onion chive. That doesn't count against them for my review, but I was craving either Asiago bagel or strawberry cream cheese to spice up a plain bagel. I did try the avocado toast with tomato. I liked the added tomato on top. A tad bit heavy handed with the balsamic drizzle but that's just me I think. Others probably would think it's just fine. I've added a pic for reference. It is a small place and while sitting here watching people come and go, you can tell there are many regulars and the staff remembers people. I over heard her say to one person "I haven't seen you in awhile". There was an avid conversation with another customer and it was evident by the conversation, she was a regular and they both knew the same people. The only complaint I have is the front staff was wearing her mask dangling off one ear the whole time. I don't know if she simply forgot to put it on properly or just hates wearing it. Both she and the customer were having a long conversation at the counter, and neither were wearing masks. The customer kept walking back and forth between counter and her table, both talking non stop. Another staff member working in the back came out wearing her mask but didn't tell her coworker to mask up. I understand you don't have to wear your mask while sitting at the table eating, but I would like to see better practice of mask wearing, especially if you are in the business of serving the community. Overall, a cute place, spacious inside and family friendly.

Staff and owners are awesome! Went in for the first time today and I watched liked 10 people come in over the course of a few hours, and the barista literally knew all their names and orders. Then the owner helped me jump my car battery that had died. Best part was they made my coffee exactly how I asked!

Nice place to grab a jalapeño kolache and coffee for breakfast. I can make breakfast and lunch out of the bagel & lox.

As a resident at Ochsner, I was excited to see a new coffee shop open up down the street as the PJ's in the hospital lobby is god awful. Decided to give this place a try as it just newly opened up. Everything is brand new, clean and very quiet. It is an ideal place for studying or hanging out. I was instantly greeted by the barista when came in and she gave me a bunch of recommendations as I was a bit undecided with their big menu. I ended up getting a Iced Latte. 1. Iced Latte: Really good! Freshly made to order and very strong the way I like it. I like that she makes it unsweetened because I like my coffee dark and bitter. My biggest pet peeve is when my coffee comes with milk and tons of sugar when I don't ask for it. The coffee here was fresh and perfectly made. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Overall, the service here is amazing, the shop is completely brand new and clean and the coffee is very high quality. The prices are also very reasonable. I'll definitely be coming here for my hospital coffee from now on.

In love with this place and so glad it's near me. 1. They deliver, which is something I really need working from home. 2. Their food is top notch. We're talking fresh bread for the sandwiches, innovative combinations and a staff that wants to accommodate. I want to make my way through the whole menu. But what I've had so far - the bagel and mix and the Mediterranean chicken sandwich really hit the spot. There's spacious seating and outlets too if you wanted to park for a while.

I Truly enjoy having a local coffee shop close by. Pass by this place all the time but never get in to try. Came on a very cold morning because I was craving some coffee!! I ordered a large cafe au lait and a breakfast croissant. Everything from the coffee to the sandwich was awesome! You could tell the bacon was homemade. My lady had a delicious coffee and sandwich as well. Truly enjoyed the homemade appeal of the place. The food and drink was excellent! Really cannot wait to come try it again.

What a great lil coffee shop. I have been here only twice...so far. Their coffee is fantastic. I always order whatever their daily brew is. The everything bagel with cream cheese is delicious! They toast it and slice into 4 sections which i love. Nice, cozy decor inside. Definitely a place u can just hang out in on a saturday morning for a bit. Limited parking out front but there is street parking. Staff is super friendly. They serve lunch as well so im looking forward to trying that soon as well.

This is cozy coffee and sandwich place that is hidden next to Ochsner. I went over for lunch. The place is very accommodating and modern. They do phone orders and I would recommend it if you are short on time. It does take them a bit to make your food. The French dip panini was good. I am personally not too big of a fan on the au jus of it because it had a sweetness that didn't sit well with me. The panini itself was crisp and firm giving a nice texture to to the sandwich. The roast beef according to the owner is cooked on estate for 24 hours. It really shows, the beef was slightly juicy with a mild flavor to it. What really brought out the sandwich for me was using the horsie sauce with the roast beef. It wasn't too strong on horseradish so it provided a nice refreshing taste. I would recommend giving this place a try. Especially if you are staying or visiting Ochsner and need to grab a bite to eat.

My daughter told me about this quaint spot. I'm in town for a few weeks and this is most definitely my daily stop for breakfast/lunch. Simple menu but great customer service and yummy bites. It's a must if in the area. We've tried breakfast croissant, chocolate croissant, bagel lox, bagel w/Nutella, both hot and cold drinks, and salads. A panini is next in my list.

Grounded Coffee has become a staple part of my week. I stop by every Saturday after my workout. I get a coffee (either iced or hot, depending on the weather) and their Italian breakfast sandwich. That sandwich is tha bomb dot com. Do yourself a favor and stop by here to see Heidi & co and get yourself a coffee and that sandwich.

I love this coffee shop in Old Jefferson. Their coffee is great. The food is freshly made to order and very good. Service is consistently efficient and so friendly. And there's always good music playing.

This is a somewhat hidden treasure in plain view on Jefferson Hwy. near Ochsner Hospital. I went one Saturday morning looking for breakfast, but I ended up settling on the Grounded Greek Panini. I did not wait too long for my sandwich. It was a good serving and not too big. I also liked that they served the yogurt on the side, so that I could either dip my sandwich or spread it onto the bread. On a side note, they provided paper straws so it showed me that they were environmentally friendly. I highly recommend the Grounded Coffee Cafe. Servers are friendly and the atmosphere is casual and low-key. Bon apetit!

Awesome tea, bagels, and even better Service! I stopped in and was instantly greeted by a super friendly barista. I ordered the lemon ginger ice tea and a Nutella bannana bagel. I was very impressed with both the bagel and the tea and wish I could've ordered more off the menu! I sat and watched a slew of regulars stop by and order an item or two. Every time the barista continued with their happy demeanor and even kept personal notes on several customers. Hopefully I find myself in the area in the future to stop by and visit again!

I needed a quick caffeine fix one morning and this place didn't disappoint. Friendly staff, good coffee, I will definitely come back when I'm in this part of town.

This is a super cute coffee shop with delicious food! They have sandwiches, paninis, and salads, which are freshly prepared with high quality ingredients! I got the club and it was excellent! I also got the mocha vanilla latte which was also delicious. I would highly recommend this cute cafe with a nice ambiance.

Perfect cafe atmosphere. seems that it is family owned with the owners running it, which i LOVE. great music, excellent coffee, delicious breakfast sandwiches. definitely will come here again soon especially to "escape" and get some school work done.

Really delicious coffee and don't even get me started about the frozen green tea! I love this place, the food is great the people are sweet, and the coffee is strong. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it can take a long time to get your order. When I go to chat with a friend or do work this is no problem, but sadly I can't go as often as I'd like because I can't risk not making it back during my shorter lunch break.

The owners, Heidi and her husband, are absolutely fantastic. I needed breakfast delivered on a Saturday for a group of 25 and they came through with only a days notice. Heidi was super accommodating and her husband delivered the coffee and breakfast items himself. They provided all the cups, napkins, mixers, etc. that were needed. All of the attendees loved the breakfast and the coffee was amazing!

This place is a great little escape from work (since it's close to Ochsner) if you want a quick bite. The place is so heart warming. I tried the caprese sandwich which was good if you like your bread crunchy. My latte was very tasty. I'll definitely be back to try some more.

When I reached out to the people at the Grounded Coffee Café I had already spent three nights on the 15th floor at Ochsner Main Hospital, the COVID floor. It was Thanksgiving morning, I was in an ICU room recovering from COVID, grumpy and cranky as they come, hungry, and craving a cup of coffee that I knew I wouldn't be able to taste. "We're closed" Heidi said yet she offered to make me something to eat. Bagel with schmear, avocado toast, coffee, and some brownies for good measure. The food was very good and well put together and packaged, just yummy and what the doctor ordered. The kindness and compassion, on the other hand, took the experience to another level of feeling cared for and taken care of. This is my new discovery, it's right by the hospital, great location, great people. She didn't take my money. Thank you, Heidi!

Really fresh food and very tasty. Nice atmosphere. Only one person making sandwiches, so be prepared to wait a while. My turkey sandwich was a good portion, but the Elvis sandwich looked small. I was glad I did not order that one.

My new favorite spot! All the ladies that run this shop are always super friendly! The bagels here are THE BEST. And that chive cream cheese...is...so good! I have to stop myself from getting them every mornin! The brewed coffee is very tasty, always fresh! I love the Guatemalan Dark Roast, I had it black with a tiny bit of sugar...man it hit the spot! NO bitterness and gave me energy! I haven't tried much else but I will be! Their sandwiches look AMAZING.

Love this place!! I'm visiting from out of town and my sister took me there. Very friendly staff, good music and great customer service. Food was delicious and the drinks were amazing!! I highly recommend it.

This restaurant is AMAZING!!! They're food is incredible, but their service and loyalty to customers is impeccable. Once, I ordered my usual order from here on uber eats and my uber ears carrier completely bailed. One of the owners drove from Metairie to uptown just to deliver it to my door, especially during COVID whilst taking all the health precautions possible. They care so much for their customers, make me feel special and valued, and always deliver the best quality food. I couldn't recommend them highly enough!!!!

I love this place. Their hot and cold coffee's are very good. I have not eaten breakfast there yet but I have had their Cuban sandwich several times at lunch and it is very tasty. The owner is very nice and their staff is friendly.

Awesome coffee & Fantastic food! Bf and I recently tried the salmon bagel and the turkey&swiss sandwich. Both were ultra fresh and delicious! The staff is cordial and helpful, and the coffee is strong. A hidden gem!

Great coffee, awesome breakfast items, and a very friendly staff. I try to go at least once a week. Great that Jefferson has a nice independent coffee shop.
