Grounder Café

A nice quick breakfast place with sandwiches and Açaí bowls at a decent price. There’s no real sit down service as it’s a fast breakfast place but they do bring the food out to you and have online table ordering only. Very convenient and fast. There’s paid parking in the street but also street parking.

I went here with my partner for a pickup order and my review is based off that experience. I really enjoy this cafe! We ordered the French toast and omelette for our food and the salted caramel latte and expresso for our drinks! The food was delicious and I felt for the price, the portions were good. The drinks were great as well and not too sweet! We did pick up so we didn’t dine in but we did wait inside. I really liked the ambiance of the cafe, it felt quaint and homey. I really enjoyed the background Brazilian music. It’s a bit small and tends to fill up quickly so something to keep in mind if you’re looking to dine in. The servers were all friendly and professional. One thing I love is that on our takeout boxes, they write cute little messages which made our day. If you’re looking for breakfast food, I would definitely recommend this restaurant to you!

Always can depend on Grounder Cafe for five star mochas, matchas and smiles :) Delicious lattes and friendly service. For context, I was in need of caffeine after working my first overnight shift. I asked to swap one of my lattes for an equivalent one after changing my sleep deprived mind. The baristas were accommodating, understanding and friendly which I greatly appreciated after the long night. The matcha was the perfect pick me up and my partner always loves when I bring a mocha. Perfect example in how business looks great on the outside, but somehow manages to produce rather mediocre experience. Food: ordered a blueberry scone, tasted like super sweet piece of regular bread, warmed up. Ordered a regular coffee to go, got a cup with a crappy lid that does not stay on, and coffee bitter fresh roast that I don’t like on my pants. Decor is decent, service was kind of ok, but people did not look like they care about what they are doing

I'm really bummed. OK prices but underwhelming food. Breakfast Panini was just unpressed soft cibatta bread loaded with cheese, some egg, and sausage. And unfortunately, it's still bland. Didn't have the requested ketchup + hot sauce + Salt & Pepper on it, either.

I've been a regular at Grounder’s, often ordering lunch daily for years. However, a recent experience has unfortunately marred my view of this establishment. The online ordering system sometimes fails to register specific notes, like my need for gluten-free options. This particular day, my gluten-free note was missed. I noticed this only minutes after placing the order and promptly informed one of the kind employees, who reacted professionally. However, the owner’s response was disappointing. She aggressively pointed out that they don’t offer gluten-free paninis, only toast, despite my frequent orders of the same in the past. Her tone was unnecessarily rude, and she questioned if I expected her to remake the sandwich. As a gluten-free customer, I’ve overlooked the smaller portions and even the fact that many items seem to be pre-bought from Costco. But what I cannot overlook is the lack of respect and kindness from the owner, especially towards a loyal customer. Her attitude not only undermines the hard work of her employees but also shows a disregard for customer loyalty. To the owners, if she isn't the owner herself, I would suggest taking note of the behavior of the Brazilian woman with lighter-colored hair with faded micro-bladed eyebrows. It's a shame to see years of patronage end this way, but customer service, especially from the top, matters significantly. Pictures attached is from a previous day showcases the size difference between a regular and gluten free panini, which are the same price.

Cute little cafe with a handful of outdoor tables. You order and pay inside and the staff will bring the food to you. Wilbur omelet is delicious! Pineapple sunrise smoothie 10/10

This is purely a review of the bacon egg and cheese panini, as that's all I got (via uber eats, for awareness. Pretty quick delivery time, ~20 mins). I expected way better for a $12 sandwich. I'd eaten half already in the attached photo, so it's about double that size, but with minimal bacon on pretty tough bread. I added my own hot sauce to give it some flavor after the first few bites. Pretty disappointing - there's better bacon egg and cheeses in the area for sure.

Cute cafe. Nice if you want to get some work done. Good selection of coffees and smoothies as well as pastries and snacks. Paid street parking.

I used to love this place. However they've gone up on the prices and I get less food. I asked for 2 scrambled eggs and I got one. The bacon amount is smaller and they put the toast all in the same container and it's soggy. I had to order another meal b/c I was still hungry. The ladies at the counter aren't friendly either.

Just got a small latte with oat milk iced and it was okay! I got something simple and haven't tried any of their food options but will probably try soon! It wasn't too busy when we went on a Friday to do remote work and the table we sat at also had an outlet which was nice.

I love the breakfast food but, sadly the home fries annoy me. They do not come with onions. I paid Extra for Onions and got the smallest few bits. For $1.50..I would think I could see them...barely any. This time I ordered Home fries as Is. Plain. And they do not come with onions. So I have to pay $1.50... for not even a half tea spoon of onions. Gerrrr. Other than that I like the breakfast.

Great coffee, their breakfast panini's are fantastic. The service is always with a smile. It's a cute little local coffee shop that I would recommend to everyone

Popped into Grounder Cafe while visiting Tufts. Saw the great Yelp reviews and it sounded like a perfect place for great coffee and a quick delicious breakfast. It did not disappoint! Loved the espresso, latte, iced coffee and their acai bowls. Great service, good pricing and delicious food. 5-stars!

Ordered through Grubhub today and the Grilled Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich was absolutely delicious! I love the 'Good Morning' notes on the bag & items as well, it put a smile on my face! Unfortunately, the Cafe Mocha I got was a bit bland & weak, maybe I should have requested an additional shot? Otherwise, I was thrilled with my breakfast, I'll definitely order from Grounder again...but I may stick with the standard coffee next time.

Really yummy bagel sandwich, good latte, and really pleasant staff! A lot better than Dunkin Donuts for about the same price. Happy to support a local business!

As usual A+ all around, 1 of the best things about ordering from here (besides the amazing food) is how secure the bag is, makes you feel much more comfortable ordering and it's a huge reason I orderly here almost every weekend

We had an amazing experience at this place, the staff was pleasant and fulfilled all our requests. The omelette was awesome and the kids loved the waffle.

I ordered from them off door dash. They wrote cute notes on the sandwich boxes, and they wrapped the pickle so it didn't get the sandwich soggy . Packaging was good and the food was delicious!

Flew into Boston from Ca, and I had already done a Google search of local coffee shops and Grounder had the best reviews. I go into the store and was greeted by an awesome employee, Sara! I told her my preferred drink, and she patiently waited while I prattled off a laundry list of what I liked. Then she gave me her suggestion. I went for the Salted Caramel Latte. Let me be clear. I am a coffee snob, and I know good, fresh, smooth ingredients. This drink was sooooooooooooooooooo damn yummy! My God! It was better than my favorite out here in Cali! If you are in Medford, hell if you are in Boston, trust me, this place is worth the drive. Oh, be sure to pick up a pastry too. Sara, you are an incredibly kind human! Thanks for making my experience memorable.

Solid little coffee shop. I within walking distance, so I visit often. Great coffee! To drink I always just get a large black coffee, it is a super reasonable 2.85 with tax. First time I thought there was a mistake with the price, this is Boston after all. I enjoy the food. Is it something to rave about, nope. Is it good and priced fine, yes. This place is a great addition to the neighborhood. Need a good coffee and a bite to eat? Go Need to study or get some work done? Perfect spot for that too. Go, caffeinate and enjoy.

I've ordered online for pickup a few times now. Food is absolutely delicious and I highly recommend the greek lighting acai bowl. Staff has always been super friendly and pickup has been fast.

Amazing place, w/great people. The chocolate croissant was mouth watering delicious, fluffy, buttery, chocolate really enjoyed every bite. I snagged a half of the coffee cake which was just a tasteful. Everyone enjoyed the other goodies as well. The food the drinks and the staff that know a little effort and kindness go a long way and change anyones day!!!! I recommend stopping by and hope your experience is as good as mine !

Love this place. Staff are so kind and friendly. I always get the chai and I'm never disappointed. Doesn't have a lot of seating so it can be a little difficult for more than 3 people to chat. Cozy spot though to study or have a coffee date.

I have been ordering takeout from Grounder Cafe for the past year and I'm shocked that they don't have five stars! Their smoothies are delicious, their egg, bacon and jack cheese breakfast sandwich on a croissant is delightful (I add a little hot sauce), but their açaí bowel is my heroin...it's my breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and it's my dessert. It's my EVERYTHING! Add a frozen 1/2 iced tea 1/2 lemonade and I'm walking in clouds... The restaurant employees always personally write a thank you on every delivery bag...they once called when I'd ordered and 30 minutes had elapsed but the delivery driver was AWOL. These are wonderful people... Honestly the best local eatery, hands down!

They offer a decent product but none of the staff wear masks. The person making the food, no gloves. For this reason I wouldn't go again.

I got a caprese panini and it was one of the worst sandwiches I have ever had... :( It had no flavor and lacked seasoning. And in addition, it was $11. $11 for a sandwich!!!!! Are you joking.... I had such high expectations because of the price. I also got the Chipotle panini and asked for pepper jack and got Kraft cheese that was not melted at all. It was just slapped onto the sandwich. Lastly, I asked for a coffee, which was also outrageously priced, and didn't get it. The only nice thing was that they wrote "Thank you! :)" on the bag which was sweet. But what in the world!!! I had a crappy day and this made it worse. (PS I don't usually write bad reviews because I feel bad for the company but this was just atrocious.)

The people who work here are extremely rude. They talk back to you, they tell you you're the only person who complains Ever and I just can't believe the owner doesn't fire those people and start again it's a horrible, horrible place I wouldn't even give a a store, but you have to in order to have this published.

We went for the seasonal lattes and were disappointed. The salted caramel latte didn't come with whipped cream (like the picture showed) and tasted like there wasn't enough espresso. The tiramisu latte tasted watery. For both lattes, all the flavor was at the bottom!

The Bomb! I've gone here a few times and it's a sweet cute Brazilian cafe. I ordered their brownie and coffee. While the coffee isn't fanatic, their brownie is to die for. I've tried their bigger breakfasts as well. You should come by to see it Eat: Breakfast Burrito,Breakfast Sandwiches

Coffee is amazing! One of the only places the gets espresso right. The service is extremely friendly and very fast.

So happy to find this local cafe is still open inside - and how nice it is in there! A perfect escape for the holidays. The woman at the counter is always charming and helpful. And great coffee treats!

For a neighborhood establishment these days, you need to provide outstanding customer service. I come in for my coffee and every time I am never greeted with a hello, smile, a thank you or have a nice day. Why bother going to a neighborhood place to help support small businesses when they cant even do the bare minimum of being pleasant? Ill just go to Dunkins since they provide better coffee and are at least happy to get my business. All small businesses need to step it up since the big corporate companies are gonna eat you up otherwise, especially in Medford with its changing clientele.

A perfect find on a rainy morning. Decent coffee and variety of breakfast options-- from waffles to breakfast burritos to acia bowls. I myself got waffles with chocolate chips which were divine-- friend got the oatmeal bowl--also well done. Super affordable and a hidden gem

Ordered for the first time using the Grubhub app. What a treat! Sunday brunch was delicious and we loved the cute little hand written notes on the sandwiches and packaging...from "Good Day" to "Enjoy"! Food was cooked perfectly and arrived warm! Will order again!

The food is in general decent; so are the drinks. But hidden costs are everywhere. Tips: DON'T ADD AVOCADO to your sandwiches. $2.55 for 4 pathetic slices!

Great breakfast! I ordered for my family and everything was so delicious and clean. The panini with deli turkey was fresh and nicely toasted. The omelet Florentine was better than in any hotel or resort.

Biiiiig acai fan and have to say their Power Bowl really stands out- top notch!! The chocolate chips never end and the acai stayed frozen and creamy the whole time (not a melty mess). I'd say this is more of a dessert than breakfast option but if you're looking for a treat look no further! So glad to have found this place so close by and can't wait to try more menu items. Pick up was ready when I arrived earlier than estimated and staff was super friendly.

Delicious and adorable. We a huge order of takeout for a full house, and they took the time to not only label each container (super helpful) but also add little notes like good morning or thank you and even smiley faces. Great experience will definitely be ordering from here again.

Worst food ordered so far. The food felt like just got removed from the freezer and defrosted on its way. The sandwiches have very low quality ingredients and small portions. Overall, terrible experience.

This little cafè is my partner and my go-to spot since they opened. The breakfast sandwiches are perfect every time. A simple sandwich done with fresh ingredients, a generous amount of avocado, perfectly cooked eggs and perfectly toasted. The Nutella and banana grilled sandwich is also fantastic. Staff always greets us with a smile and the coffee is wonderful. We couldn't be happier to support this local small business.

I wanted to like this place, but the food is just ok. I got the french toast sandwich and it was pretty decent, but nothing to rave about. The chocolate croissant was only as good as it was because it was warmed up, but otherwise it was overly chewy. The big miss for me was the homefries. They were straight from the freezer to the deep fryer. So gross. You can't be a real breakfast place if you don't make your own homefries from scratch. Huge disappointment. I won't be back.

One of my favorite breakfast spots! The people who work there are always so kind and great you with a smile. The food is made to perfection every time and their coffees are delicious. Highly recommend their smoothies as well. Great place 10/10 would recommend.

I have been wanting to try Grounder Cafe for a few months now and decided to give it a shot this morning. I've been eyeing the broccoli and cheddar breakfast burrito and was severely disappointed. There was hardly any sour cream on the burrito and was bland. I will give them the benefit of the doubt given current circumstances and will try again once everything passes over.

Very cute little cafe with good coffee and customer services, but I was very disappointed in my açaí bowl today. It was pre-made and frozen, 'fresh fruit' and granola included! I couldn't even eat it- the frozen granola and fruit was too hard to bite, and who wants frozen fruit in something supposedly made up order? I liked this cafe but this is just sheer laziness.

The staff is so sweet, place is clean, and their food is amazing. I had the bruschetta breakfast sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. Will definitely be coming back to try more menu items

This is such a cozy cafe to have in the neighborhood. The baristas are really warm and nice, and the food is amazing and very well priced! Smoothies and açaí bowl are especially affordable compared to city prices, and they are much better!

Food and coffee is alright but the staff always seems miserable and they consistently miss something in my order. I usually ask for avocado on my bacon egg and cheese and out of the 5 or 6 times I've been there they put the avocado on once. Normally I wouldn't care but they charge almost $3 to add it to a sandwich.
