"If you could ask Clapton, Cash, Grohl or Gill where they would shop in Nashville, they would all likely say Gruhn Guitars. The famous guitar store has long been a haven for the world’s greatest guitar players with relics that can’t be found anywhere else in the world. Need a mint 1940 Martin D-45? They’ve got it for a mere $195K. But Gruhn Guitars isn’t just for the celebrity player. Their staff is a friendly collection of lifelong guitar enthusiasts who love to share instruments and stories with customers of all kinds." - GS&F
"Guitar Greats This famed guitar shop opened in 1970 and recently relocated from downtown to this space on 8th Ave. It’s where you’ll find an enormous range of equipment from starter guitars to a 1940 Stromberg Master 400 owned by Freddie Green in the Count Basie Orchestra and still strung with Freddie strings. Even if you don't play, this place is worth a visit."

"This is the place to get a guitar, banjo, mandolin, or any “fretted” instrument, if you’re picky about terminology like the experts at Gruhn. George Gruhn started the store in 1970, and it has come to be one of the—if not the—premier places in the US to buy instruments. The client list is a who’s who of musicians—Eric Clapton, Johnny Cash, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello, Neil Young, and many, many more. The store and repair shop specialize in vintage models, and they keep a file on the history of each and every instrument in their inventory. Basically, if music is your thing, you’ve got to pay them a visit. Their website is a frett aficionado’s haven with George Gruhn’s newsletters on fretted instruments and features on particularly special models. If there’s a vintage model you’re particularly interested in, let them know and they’ll keep an eye out for you."

Historic, MUST SEE guitar store in Nashville. I was excited to finally get to this guitar store while I was recently in Nashville. Lots of the big name artists come to this store and they have instruments that range from beginners to high-end vintage instruments. Friendly knowledgeable staff. This is an amazing store and I recommend it highly.

What can I add that others haven't? Amazing selection of great instruments. I wandered over the selection for 2 hours and the employees let me be but engaged in interesting conversation when I approached them. So cool. Love love love it

A wonderful B-day present and retirement gift for my wife after teaching for 40 years. I researched many small guitars for over a week. She wanted a guitar smaller then my D-28.
I knew I wanted a guitar from Gruhn Guitars. The Martin D Jr E
is the perfect size for her. Beautiful and great sounding guitar! Excellent customer service and communication. They kept me informed through e-mail as to its arrival. We look forward to visiting the store in person when we visit Nashville. Thank you for a positive experience!

Gruhns has been a Nashville fixture every since I can remember. This was my first visit to the new location since I haven't been in Nashville in a while. They have an impressive collection of acoustic and electric guitars as well as other instruments. George has an impressive history and is an expert in most stringed instruments. I was shopping for a vintage banjo and they had several available including a Gibson Style 6, Florentine, and Style 11. They also had many exquisite vintage Martin guitars.

So, I'm not a guitar guy, and might not have stopped here if another in our group wasn't an excellent musician, but I'm very glad we did. This is a fantastic place to see both new and vintage guitars and has a kind and knowledgeable staff. Mr. Gruhn himself checked us out, and was very solicitous and friendly. Even if one isn't a music person, one can appreciate the craftsmanship represented here. Well worth a visit.

I recently contacted Gruhn Guitars about a 2014 Beard Legacy R resonator guitar. As I live a long distance from the store, salesman Kyle offered to check out the instrument and to call me back. Upon Kyles input, I ordered the resonator. I received the instrument in a couple of days and was very pleased with the packaging and the condition of the resonator. The service was excellent.

Cozy relaxed store full of knowledgeable people. Good mix of “affordable” and exotic instruments. Beautiful mural on the front.

I’m not a walk-in customer but ‘hope to change that someday. I bought a used guitar (reso/Dobro) remotely from here and I couldn’t be happier. Benjamin and others were on top of my questions and grabbed photos of requested areas. Checked it out for me and helped settle my mind of a $2500 guitar unseen. Although, I know they have good return policies but well packaged and all went smoothly. They’ve been at this a while, ya think? AAA+++
