A no frills old school burger joint. Food was hot fresh and damn good. Dublin sodas in the fountain was a giant plus(if you know, you KNOW.) Will definitely be coming back 😁

Burger was okay. Got the BBQ cheese burger disappointed. I can make the same burger at home. Bacon was a bit soggy, not crispy at all. Could have skipped the fries there, not satisfying. Overall 4/10

I came on the right day Thursday is Ladies’ Night! Discounted margaritas and beers? Yes, please! The cheeseburger was delish and cooked just right. And don’t skip the jalapeño ketchup. It takes everything up a notch. Great vibes, good deals, and solid food. I’ll definitely be back!

Love love love this place. Got a big ol Bob's Big Boy inside lol. Food was awesome, service is awesome servers with great customer service skills. If u haven't been here already, make it a point to stop in n grab sum grub! We got the Mushroom Swiss Burger, Patty Melt, Fries, We will be dining here again!

I've been wanting to try this place so we came in for a late lunch. I got the chili burger and my husband got the bbq bacon burger with onion rings and fried pickles and everything was great. Meat was flavorful, onion rings were crunchy and the ranch was thick just the way I like it. We will definitely be returning.

Was quick to order. Food came out correctly and fast. Quality was phenomenal. Portions were great! Everything was fresh. Service was 10/10. Will be back. Ps. Sweet tea was fire!!!!

We were very satisfied with everything here. I got the bacon cheeseburger with fries and it was the best burger I've had in a while. The service was fast and friendly. I love the atmosphere. The decor is a mix of rustic and nostalgic. The whole place was very clean. We will be going back.

Fast and friendly service. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger with onion rings. Both were delicious. Also liked the ranch dressing that came with the rings and the jalapeño ketchup brought to the table. Stopped in during happy hour and had one of the "coldest beers in Texas". :) Also had some iced tea and it was also good; not watered down so was just right over ice. Nice laid back place to enjoy a burger and a beverage after a hot day working in a warehouse.

If you ace a no-frills burger, you deserve every good thing that comes your way. I live 3.5 hours away from Abilene and was literally passing through just to transport a dog to their new home and then drive back to DFW. I needed fuel for the long trek back and thought this place looked pretty good. I am now trying to see if it would be crazy to make the drive again literally just for this burger. The place was packed at lunch time on a Saturday. I ordered a bacon cheeseburger and spicy fries. I waited 30 minutes and started to get kind of annoyed it was taking so long but I take EVERY BAD THOUGHT back as soon as I tasted the food. The burger was delicious. Everything tasted so fresh and it didn't leave me feeling gross and greasy like burgers tend to do. The "spicy" in the fries just means they're seasoned to the max with peppers. They also were extremely fresh, perfectly crisp, and I left no crumbs while I took my time enjoying them. If you live nearby and haven't been here, you are doing yourself a disservice.

Great burgers and awesome atmosphere! The dublin drinks were a nice treat. Everyone was friendly and helpful. We are even toying with the idea of franchising we loved it so much!

This place is pretty much an old schoolburger joint. No frills, just good food. I had a mushroom Swiss and it was great. Fries were good, onion rings were good. Service was quick. Drink selection is Dublin bottling company, which I though was a nice touch. Definitely will be back when I need a burger fix.

Awesome atmosphere, staff, food. This place has become my go-to for a great burger, fries, and a milkshake. Their BLT's are very good as well. Hidden gem in Abilene.

The food was absolutely fantastic! The service was even better as we got our food in about 5-10 minutes, The ambiance was very neat and well put-together. Overall the entire restaurant was absolutely amazing. I would definitely go again, as this is about as fast as a fast food place and better than a fast food place.

Went back to Grumps with a friend from Huntsville. We told her she needed the experience. Lol we ordered southern slush and fried pickles and then got a bacon cheeseburger ... yes there was 2 slices of bacon this time and dirty fries with queso and chips. She could not quit talking about it. Y'all were spot on today!!!!! She said she was glad there were no grumps around her because she would gain 20 pounds lol. Good job grumps. I knew you had it in you!!!

Loved everything about this place. It's an awesome true hamburger joint. Not fancy or trendy, just good Texas vibe and good food. Kudos for having green chiles. Loved the dirty fries. Even the soft drink options weren't the typical Coke products. People must agree because this place was super busy on a Saturday at lunch.

I had a regular burger with everything on it, my grandson had the mushroom Swiss and my husband had a chicken salad. All were delicious. We had fries and onion rings and fried jalapeños. Loved it all. Will be back for sure. Mia was our server and she was attentive and very sweet.

I take the work crew to Grumps on a regular basis, they have awesome burgers, lots of options, I love the chili burger, the queso burger, and the bacon double cheeseburger as well. Great fried pickles, onion rings are awesome. Highly recommend you visit Grumps!

Took family and friends to Grumps. We are already planning a return visit!! I got the Cheese Burger, made it a double. A single will do, unless you can handle the double. Juicy, tasty, cooked to prefect ion!! Fries, onion Rings even Queso and potato sturdy chips. Service was outstanding. We were stuffed!!! Going back again!!!!

Best burgers I've had in Abilene! My go to is always the guac burger. Prices are fantastic. Servers are friendly. There are shelled peanuts to snack on while you wait for your food. Highly recommend.

Went in about 8:15 for a quick order of deep fried jalapenos for a movie snack. I sat waiting for them to call my name when I looked at the front and saw my food sitting there. I watched as the counter boy stood talking to the cooks with his back turned to my food. I sat watching it get cold when I finally went up and asked if it was mine. He said yes. I took it and walked to my car when I realized they didnt give me the ranch I paid ectra for. I went back in and the boy tried to tell me he was putting it all in a bag when I came up. No he wasnt. He was chatting with the cooks. He handed me the ranch and just looked at me. I asked for a bag and he slowly gave me one. Horrible horrible ervice. I understand its 30 minutes to close but come on! Dont gaslight me! I watched you!!!

Great experience across the board. The fried pickles are the best I've ever had, burgers certainly meet the hype and the staff were friendly. The family loved the peanuts while we waited for the appetizers to come out. We will go back!

We stopped in while we were in town visiting family. The reviews were positive, and the place didn't disappoint if you're looking for good basic burgers and sides. My wife raved about her chili cheeseburger which was so messy in a good way that she resorted to knife and fork. My Swiss mushroom burger was one of the best I can remember. Fries and onion rings were both a rung above standard fast food offerings. Very tasty and well prepared. They serve several beers and interesting-sounding adult beverages, and while we're not partakers I did enjoy the selection of Dublin soft drinks that are kind of a rare find. The front entry area was a little dirty, and the burgers while adequate weren't huge. Only these two factors hold me back from giving 5 stars. We'll definitely go back the next time we're in town.

Food was good and the atmosphere was very family friendly. The service was amazing and free peanuts are definitely a plus! But, I do think there are better burgers in Abilene. Definitely worth a try though!

Always good food. Perfectly cooked burgers, and fries. I love the sweet potato fries. The Dublin cola is the icing on the cake.

I tried the cheese burger with onions and jalapeños. Twenty five minutes passed before getting my food. There was only a couple of people dining since lunch already passed (I came at 1:10). When my burger finally arrived It took me two minutes to eat the whole thing. I did not mind the wait after the first bite; it was delicious. But I cannot imagine how long you have to wait on rush hour. I paid $8 for my food; I did not order fries and drank water.

First time there while visiting family stationed in Abilene. We all had hamburgers and chicken fingers. Like others have commented, no frills but down to earth good food. The service was friendly while being super busy too.

It's not a bad burger, but nothing special. Your basic Texas assortment of fried sides and a greasy burger. Not a place I'd crave or be in awe of. It's a clean location with friendly staff.

My daughter told us we needed to try the burgers from here. Today was the day, I got the cheeseburger and I loved it. I also love their jalapeño ketchup and ranch. I can't forget the beer, it was ice cold!! Great team!

My husband & I love Grumps! The best burgers, fries, homemade chips, and onion rings in Abilene! Everything is always hot and fresh and the service is wonderful! Also love their pre-meal peanuts and fizzy fountain drinks.

They do not have combo meals and everything is a bit overpriced. The burgers are a little on the small side. But everything was very tasty and the staff is very friendly

I've been to other Grumps so I kind of knew what to expect. We got there at 11:00 so one of the first customers. Ordering was quick and easy. They did a great remodel on the old Pizza Hut building. I really like the inside. So our food arrives and I'm not impressed. Look at the picture. Cheese and bacon on half of my burger, so sloppy. The onion rings were good but the French fry order was pretty small for what they charge. The burger was good. I normally drink tea, but when I saw the Dublin sodas, it was Root Beer time! So good! The one thing that stood out on my visit was Buffy. I enthusiastically said vampire slayer, but she just smiled cause she's heard it a thousand times before. She was checking on everyone and doing a great job. I'll definitely be back because I know they can do better. If you haven't been yet, go get Grumpy!

The first time we visited Grumps I can literally say it was probably the best burger I've eaten in a very long time. The meat was cooked to perfection and the buttery grilled bun was heavenly! The owner was there meeting and greeting which made the experience very pleasant. Skip to the next visit when we took along the grown kids and spouses. What a difference. Very average burger. Nothing special. Is that because the owner was no longer around to oversee things? Won't be rushing back for another.

Grumps is a small burger chain started about 15 years ago. They just recently opened at the old Pizza Hut building located on N. 1st near Westwood Dr. Atmosphere: a nicely done remodel of the old Pizza Hut I frequented with my family as a child. An elevated area near the front windows houses 3-4 tables. There is a long bar style table in the 2nd dining area with fixed stools that could fit a fair amount of people. The rest of the dining area is your usual tables and chairs. Lots of vintage decor around the dining rooms. 1 Star. Service: As u walk in there is a a handful of menus (sorry, I forgot to take a pic) in a cubby. It's a very simple menu with about 5-6 specialty burgers and 3-4 sandwiches. The staff was very friendly. Welcomed a couple of times while in line. The cashier was a pro. For a place that just opened she knew the register like the back of her hand. This made the long line move quite quickly. Food is brought out by a waitress calling your name and she is quick to ask if you need anything else for your meal. There is no true "wait staff,"-it is still a fast food joint-but the manager and at least one other staff member came by the table in the 30min we were there to make sure we were good and didn't need anything. 2 Stars Food: I'll just say it right off the bat, the food is nothing spectacular but it has some uniqueness to it that adds some "worth coming back to" properties. Don't get me wrong it wasn't bad at all. It just didn't hit a homerun, but was at least extra bases. The freshness of the meat is a big plus. These look like hand made patties. Probably 1/3 pound to start. That was a big plus. I feel that some salt could have been added to them however. The buns are average hamburger buns. Veggies seemed crisp and fresh. Cheese was completely melted, which is always a must. One of the "unique" items I mentioned earlier is their bacon. Apparently it is a jalapeño bacon and has just the right amount of kick. You definitely know it's there but it doesn't overpower. This leads me to my wife's order, which extends the uniqueness. They have a BLT on their menu. This is made with a good amount of that smoky jalapeño bacon and some fresh veggies on Texas toast. She really liked it. Son got his typical chicken strips. I normally wouldn't mention them except that it was a good sized order and the chicken (although looking like frozen strips) was cooked through and shredded apart like real chicken. Onion rings were very good. None were stuck together and had a nice golden fry on them. The fries are just ok. A tad too soggy for my tastes. My perfect fry is crispy crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. Now, the homemade potato chips are impressive. The were nice and crisp to start. They did age quickly and got a little soggy the longer they sat (so probably wouldn't be too great for togo.) For those interested (we didn't have any today), they do serve Blue Bell ice cream as well. Looks like it's 4 flavors: chocolate, vanilla, cookies & cream, and strawberry. One more addition: they do have several à la carte items for your burgers. I've been told the Jalapeño Bun is a standout. I also remember there being grilled onions, mushrooms, quacamole, and green chilies. 1 Star Overall: Nice experience with fantastic service and decent quality food. We will definitely be back.

Delicious burgers, decent prices! Burger and fry's had really yummy flavor! We got our food to go. When I got home I noticed the kept all the toppings in a separate container from the hamburger so it doesn't get soggy, totally loved that they did that! The sodas are off brand and not so good so I'd probably suggest getting a different beverage. Will definitely be back for the burgers and Fry's!

The bride and I were ijn the area so we tried Grump's. I had a bacon cheeseburger and she had a BBQ bcb. We shared an order of swt potato fries. Our bill was $24+. (I left a $5 tip since I did 75% of the work at the register...) The burgers were cooked well-done and dry, and they were small for the price. They swt potato fries were very good- crispy and hot. Overall, we were not overtly impressed but went on a few recommendations to try Grump's, since we eat a good deal of hamburgers. We probably won't frequent the establishment.

What are you thinking??? Yesterday we got 2 cheeseburgers, fries and onion rings. First, your meat is too thick. Something between Mc Donald's and what you have is the most appealing. But the worst thing is that you do not put any dressing on the bun at all. Then, to make it all very much worse, you put some shredded lettuce, sliced tiny tomatoes and a couple of pickles in a dish for us to try to put on. Why can't you get large firm tomatoes and slice them so they across most of the bun. Have you even tried to put that on a burger and take even one bite before all those little pieces fall out? There was some kind of dressing in a little cup, but that would not be easy to put on either. The only thing done right, is that you used iceberg lettuce and not that horrible romaine. Can't imagine anyone ever wanting to come in a second time and that includes us.

I found this burger joint to be very enjoyable! I love the wide selection of toppings and sides. The onion rings where great. They also feature some great soda options beyond the normal type of coke or Pepsi.

Not bad, ha drew bacon cheeseburger, fried pickles, jalapeño and onion rings. Onion rings were spot on as were the jalapeño, the pickles on the other hand, had a batter that reminded me of a fish fry or okra batter. Inside is decorated pretty nostalgic. I like the Bob's Big Boy statue.
