Gruto's Soft Serve

Have come here ever since they opened. Looking for somewhere to get dessert on a Wed night at 8pm. Friendly service recommended their Banana Cream Pie and it was great with real bananas. Shared with my wife. They have a Godzilla challenge if you finish the container you get your name on a plaque - 2025 still open.

The ice cream was good. We had the brownie sundae and banana cream pie. Very large portions. It tastes as expected, nothing special. $9 per sundae is on the expensive side but the place is definitely popular. It was packed.

I can’t say enough about this place. Just driving by, based off the sign, I knew this was gonna be some yummy ice cream, and it didn’t disappoint. Service is fast; the kids who work there are really sweet; there are lots of options for toppings, sundae’s, and sizes. Plus, the soft serve is absolutely delicious. I’ve had the vanilla chocolate swirl so far and the vanilla raspberry swirl. Both so yummy! I want to go back every day. Because I’m a visitor in town, I just might do that🩷😅 The only reason I gave atmosphere three stars is because you can’t exactly hang out in there. It’s a tiny little place and there are only a handful of seats outside.

Fantastic ice cream place with a ton of options to customize. The place is small and parking is limited (due to location) but the ice cream more than makes up for it.

Fun, kitschy soft serve spot. Built in a little house there is ample off street parking and outdoor seating (uncovered). The combinations are tasty and creative. The staff is young, fun, and helpful. My family got a bunch of unusual things. The standout was the banana/chocolate twist cone. Strawberry/vanilla was a delight too. Their sundaes are huge and may need a second round of toppings. If you are on a stroll through downtown Leesburg or just driving through, it’s definitely worth a quick stop! Their motto is “See ya tomorrow!”

Yes, they accept credit cards. Great soft serve and banana splits. Also our dogs loved the "Teddy" with vanilla soft serve, peanut butter sauce and a milkbone. Being a veteran owned small business is the cherry on top of this fine establishment. I will be coming back again and again!

It's worth the hype/trip too Leesburg. Small lil spot, but there is seating outside. Plus the local neighborhood is walkable with heaps of other businesses/eateries and bars.

We went to Gruto's for the first time on a very, very cold day in December, so didn't have to deal with a line! My husband and I both had the raspberry/vanilla twist, and the ice cream was so smooth and creamy! The young girl working there was so friendly and filled us in on the history of the store as we ate. Will definitely be back!

Wow this place has some great soft serve! The consistency is thick but also airy and light at the same time. I got the black raspberry with sprinkles (4/5) and my sister got the black raspberry vanilla twist with cookie dough (5/5!!). The black raspberry flavor was sweet with a hint of tartness. It tasted like the fruit and was very good. However, after trying my sister's I prefer the black raspberry with the vanilla twist as it gave it more sweetness and the vanilla complements the tartness of the black raspberry very well. I also recommend to get the cookie dough topping for $1 extra as they gave a huge portion on top of the cone AND a second scoop in the middle of the cone. The cookie dough was delicious and filled with mini chocolate chips. The sprinkles topping is 77 cents but cookie dough all the way. I'd love to come back here to try their different flavors!

Gruto's is an absolutely adorable little soft serve shop with funny snarky signs, a long line and the sweetest lady running the counter. You can tell this place is a neighborhood staple with how busy it is, and WELL worth the wait. Ice cream was really good, there's a lot of creative menu choices and customizations. Super friendly service.

Stopped at Grutos after dinner and it did not disappoint! I opted for the black raspberry milkshake, it was to die for. The perfect treat while exploring downtown Leesburg on first Friday. Definitely will return in the future.

They've done a great job revitalizing the small town of historic Leesburg. Great addition as finding soft serve ice cream in the area is difficult. Friendly staff and a ton of options. The banana/chocolate twist was great! As others have mentioned...reading all the signs makes the wait go faster.

This is a classic spot! Very good soft serve and unique ice cream combos/sundaes. If you have kids, get a small - the portions are pretty huge! And for a large/medium can be upwards of $7 or $8. Try "The Elvis" for a little surprise! The man working the counter last night was super nice and made the experience fast and easy. We also ate right outside, lots of tables!

The line was pretty long, and there was only one person working.He was warning his tips, though! Ice cream very good. The waffle cone was fresh and crunchy.

First time for my wife and I. Very good creamy whip ice cream. Very quick service and getting you what you order. We both got 2 different flavors swirled, vanilla and chocolate for my wife (with sprinkles) & chocolate and banana for me.

Pretty long line, but it went fast. Service was quick and efficient and friendly. I got the chocolate waffle mixed with a little bit of raspberry soft serve. It was delicious. Tried chocolate/peanut butter twist. It tasted just all the peanut butter, no chocolate taste at all. I would go here over Bruster's any day.

The staff is amazing, kind, and quick. The soft serve tastes pretty great, as well. Not only that, but the posters on the walls make the place seem super friendly.

Omgosh!! If you are just tired of basic ice-cream and need your sugar fix, well look no further GRUTO's Is here. I have been to this location several times, but what is impressive that they have introduce some fall flavors, such as pumpkin pie and caramel. Service is always amazing, they can give you a taste of the different soft serve before you commit to the a flavor of your liking; the portions are good! Please don't ever change your recipe and service!!

If you like soft serve, this is your place. Many flavor choices and various serving types (cone, cup, etc.). Limited space indoors leaves only a bench out front and three chairs on the side for seating. There is a park with shade and benches down the street near the bike trail.

I'm a huge soft serve fan and have been on the hunt for a local ice cream shop with good soft serve. Gruto's is in downtown Leesburg and has raspberry, vanilla, raspberry vanilla twist, chocolate, banana, chocolate banana twist, and a variety of other treats. My husband and I split a raspberry cyclone, which is like a DQ Blizzard, with brownie and raspberry soft serve. The brownie bites were big and moist and had chocolate chips in them! Portion size was huge. I can't wait to bring my kids here!

Decent soft serve ice cream. Nothing that blows you away, but all the basics are covered. Cups or cones are available. Prices are reasonable and service is good.

This is one of my favorite places to stop when I am in Leesburg! The black raspberry flavor and bananas are the best! This is a super cute, cozy ice cream shop that has a family owned vibe. I love the décor they have on the walls and the new GRUTO's accent wall for photos. I would highly recommend!

Small soft serve shop with unique flavors and lots of combos. Server was friendly and explained everything, as it was our first time. Located in downtown Leesburg, there is parking behind the building but its limited (about 6 spots). Tried the vanilla raspberry swirl and it was awesome. Server recommended their banana chocolate swirl and said the banana ice cream is made in-house. Little pricey, $5-6 for a small cone.

Super cute store and delicious soft serve! Tried the banana chocolate swirl and was impressed that the banana flavor - it tasted natural and not like fake banana at all. It was crowded on a Friday night and the workers were pumping out cones to keep the line moving. I'll definitely be back - good soft serve is hard to find in NOVA!

Some of the best soft serve ice cream in downtown Leesburg is at Gruto's Soft Serve on King Street. They have delicious cones, sundaes, and milkshakes. When I went there was only one person behind the counter, but he was quick to get our orders down and out to us, he also told everyone goodbye by saying "see you tomorrow", I thought it was sweet. There isn't much seating here and there are no tables, so I'd recommend planning to take the ice cream to go. Check them out next time you're craving something sweet!

I have been to Gruto's multiple times but tonight I was very disappointed. I went in with my family for ice cream today and ordered a cup of ice cream with marshmallow sauce, after, family and plenty of other customers had already gotten their ice cream before mine. I waited more than 15 minutes with no ice cream and was very frustrated with the service. I usually recommend this place, but not sure if I will anymore after this experience.

Great local soft serve ice cream location. They have one in Purcellville too. Quick service and always friendly. Prices aren't crazy either. Definitely recommend!

If you love soft serve Gruto's has some of the best in the area - and there are so many options! It's hard to decide what to have. Today I went with a s'mores sundae topped off with graham cracker crumbles but you can have pretty much any kind of candy, fruit or other topping combination that you can think of. There's no indoor dining, strictly take away. Social distancing is still in place and it's a small shop so there may be a brief wait outside. The wait is made up for by the swift and friendly servers who seem to enjoy their jobs serving up the sweet stuff for their customers. There's a small parking lot directly behind the shop accessed via a very narrow driveway at the left side of the building so keep a sharp eye out or you'll miss it. There is some street parking but it's a busy street. This is just a great homey ice cream place and worth a visit for a cool and tasty treat - highly recommend.

I am not normally a soft-serve ice cream person. I usually prefer gelato, but I decided to give this place a shot. What really won me over was the shear size of the cookie dough balls! There is nothing worse than ordering cookie dough and getting a few, sad, anemic dough balls. Gruto does not make this mistake. As you can see from the picture, they were huge. I was a very happy camper. There is not any seating indoors, but there are a good number of chairs outside to sit in. You're also in the heart of downtown Leesburg, so it's a good place to stroll with your ice cream. This place is definitely pricey, but that seems to have become the norm for ice cream these days. I appreciate that for the price, it was a good portion size.

The ice cream is so good, and a good price. The kids working the counter could be a little more helpful and socialize less, but nice kids. We will definitely return if in this area and we recommend this place.

Randomly we found Gruto's Soft Serve because my kids want some ice cream. We stopped and we love the tiny shop full of people and kids. I was not expecting anything than the usual ice cream shops, but the lady who was alone was doing a great job. Very busy, but she had a great attitude. As soon as we ordered our ice creams we loved the flavors and specially for the amazing price! I highly recommend the banana flavor! Absolutely love the experience I had at Gruto's Soft Serve!

Showed up 10 minutes before they close. Line was out the door, got told by another customer her order was the last one that we're going to take before they were "closed". Overall I'm a Grutos fan and I feel like this is something that should be addressed. Very unprofessional. *Edit* drove past at 9:05 open sign was still lit up.

Not much to it but the prices were fair and it tasted good. Daughter and I were pleased.

Great soft serve! My only wish is that they had more flavors to choose from. Furthermore, their ice cream is very sweet. If you prefer more tart ice cream or very nuanced flavors, I suggest you look elsewhere. Otherwise, it's a classic for hot Leesburg afternoons.

Cool little soft serve place that kinda reminded me of cold stone with how you could add "mix ins" to various flavors of soft serve ice cream. My boys and I went with a snickers sundae, peanut butter cup sundae and an Oreo shake. Everyone was very happy with their selections. The girls working there were friendly and pleasant. Definitely give it a try if you're looking for something sweet.

As a local, this is where the family goes for ice cream. Always great service but can be crowded. Not many places to sit inside so be prepared to walk and eat. There are a lot of seating places within a short walk next to the W&OD trail. Lots of good combinations and have tried a bunch and all are good.

Really good ice cream. I ordered a vanilla cup and my husband ordered a chocolate and banana twist ice cream cone. Such a nice treat for a warm day.

The soft serve is the best around, but the bald guy who is always there is SO rude. No smile, no how are you, no thank you. His attitude stinks so much that it makes me not want to go back. My soft serve was also just a blob on a cone, it didn't even seem like he tried to make it nice. Very unfortunate.

The most adorable ice cream shop located in downtown Leesburg. They have super fun flavors and great customer service. I love their banana ice cream.

Soft serve is decent enough, it would be a difficult concept to mess up but the man behind the counter was not personable at all. Seemed like he hated his job, which to me, owning a soft serve shop doesn't seem half bad. I would recommend a more friendly face who enjoys engagement with customers. Won't return for the foreseeable future.

Being the ice cream expert that I am this place hits the mark! Ok I'm kidding, I'm no expert but I do love ice cream and I am picky. I got the Rasberry and Vanilla twist. Yes.... I could polish of ten of these! Forget sweet frog, that stuff is funky! This place seems to have high quality soft serve ice cream. I'm definitely going back here for more! Hands down best Ice cream around. If your thinking about trying this place just do it, its amazing!

Excellent soft serve! The banana was perfect! It should never be yellow btw. This was just great. I got a small banana cone and hun got The Elvis sundae. What a great find!

After dinner next door, my son was so happy to find his soft serve joint open! Since I can't wear a mask, they were happy to take my order outside and bring it to us. Hip Hip Hooray for the accommodations and jumping for joy for the ice cream which we thoroughly enjoyed!

After visiting the Purcelville location for many years, we were happy to see a second location open in Leesburg. Good old fashioned ice cream shop. Soft serve ice cream at its best-sundaes, cups and cones and some seasonal specialities. To top it off long hours are a good reason to visit any time!

Honestly, probably the best soft serve ice cream I have ever had. It was so smooth and creamy, and flavorful at the same time. For only 4 bucks for a small cone you get a ton of ice cream! Wonderful place for kids to have fun. Sprinkles seemed to be complimentary too!

It's a 25min drive for us and completely worth it. You get a hefty portion and it's always creamy soft serve, not icy. They even have seasonal flavors that use fresh fruits from the season. The chocolate and raspberry are my favorite!

Cheerful staff and wonderful dessert options. We split a sundae and it was loaded with toppings. They are certainly generous! Using soft serve as the base instead of ice cream is such a brilliant idea. This is a great little shop!
