My first visit to G’s, and it did not disappoint! I ordered the fried chicken, mac & cheese, turnip greens, cornbread, hush puppies, fried green tomatoes, yams, and potato salad (I like to sample a variety of sides so I know what to get next time). First, let me say the customer service was top tier. A gentleman even brought me a sample plate of sides, which was such a thoughtful touch and super helpful for future visits. The sample included meatloaf—and wow, it was very good! The atmosphere had a warm, family vibe. People were enjoying their meals and having great conversations, which made the experience even better. My top three favorites? Potato salad, greens, and fried chicken. I wasn’t a big fan of the mac & cheese or cornbread, but everything else was solid. Thank you, G’s, for a fantastic first experience. I’ll definitely be back!

This place exudes "Southern Hospitality!" The service is great! They make sure you are taken care of, and will offer recommendations. It takes some time for the food to come out, but they let you know that with the "This is not a fast food joint" sign on the front. But it is worth the wait! The food is absolutely delicious! They put soul in their food! And it's very reasonably priced!

This is the spot for good soul food! G's Country Kitchen never misses, and the fried fish is a perfect example of why locals love this place. The fish was fried just right: golden, crispy on the outside, and tender and flaky inside. It was well-seasoned without being heavy or greasy, and Yates fresh from the first bite.

G's kitchen is by far one of the best spots for Southern cooking I’ve had in a long time. The food is absolutely amazing, and you can tell every dish is made with love. I always end up ordering the same thing because it’s just that good and i am always stuffed when I leave. It does take a little time for the food to come out, but that’s only because it’s made fresh and it’s always well worth the wait. Hands down, some of the best comfort food you'll find.

We waited a long time for the food. It was good, but wife's chicken legs were both a lot smaller than the ones I got. Would try this place again.

I absolutely love this place. G's is a great little hidden gem here in Huntsville. I can remember coming here well before I enlisted years ago. I'm so glad the kitchen is still open after all this time. The service here has always been great. The food is comforting, and the price is affordable. This has been my go-to spot for good home cooking for years. I highly recommend the collards and the porkchop.

Stopped here for lunch today after hearing lots of good things about the restaurant. It was very crowded (which is typically a good sign). We actually had to wait for a table, but not too long. It took about 10 minutes for our server to bring a menu because they were so busy. She was friendly and answered questions about the menu. I ordered a fried chicken plate with fried green tomatoes and mashed potatoes with gravy. It also came with hushpuppies. My hubby tried the meatloaf with cornbread, fries and mac and cheese. Our food took approximately 30 minutes due to the crowd. It arrived hot and fresh. The chicken was cooked well...crispy and hot, but very salty. The hushpuppies were amazing and the fried green tomatoes were my favorite thing on the plate. Unfortunately, the mashed potatoes tasted like they were instant, so I didn't eat them. My hubby liked the meatloaf, but he said the mac and cheese was his favorite part of the meal. Because of the crowd, the server never checked back on us, so we never received drink refills, etc. We had to go up to the counter to ask for a to-go box. Also, due to the crowd, the noise level was very loud....actually hard to hear each other talking. Overall, it wasn't a bad experience, but we will probably not go back at lunch due to the crowd situation.

Yes please yall go check out G's. I came here based off a recommendation from someone at Alabama A&M and was pleased with it. I have been looking for some good southern soul food and G's did not disappoint. I ordered the chicken wings with a few sides. The chicken was fried to perfection and the sides were fresh and flavorful. My only complaint was the Mac and cheese it wasn't giving baked Mac and cheese but everything else was nice. I was told to get the Obama Juice which was good. I normally don't do those bright colored drinks but it wasn't bad, not too sweet and I didn't feel gross afterwards. Our waiter was a sweetheart and so was everyone else on the restaurant. Next time I'm back in the area I'm definitely stopping by!

The food is legitimate soul food make you wanna slap yo mamma! Outstanding service! Dede, Quita and Moe were fantastic! They made sure we were satisfied with our meal and to top it off the price is Right! We will be back!

Went there tonight, first visit and I'll be back.mMy daughter and her husband wanted us to have a good southern meal so she recommended G's and we are so glad she did.Food was exceptional and everyone was so nice and friendly.My wife had catfish and I had hamburger steak with onions and gravy and My daughters family had fried chicken.Their vegetables were fresh and tasty.Had to wait a little because they fry and prepare food as you wait. It wasn't premade like most restaurants and it was delicious. Put G'S on your dinner list, you won't regret it.Best Meal in Huntsville !!!!!!

Always good, but can be busy, especially on the weekend. Staff was friendly. This is not home cooking but soul food.

The hotel recommended this place to us for good soul food. But once we got the food this was the roll so after seeing this we definitely wasn't eating the food.40 dollars wasted!!! Couldn't bring it back because we were already running late for the tournament because the food took so long to come.

I wish I could give at least four stars...the three are for the well seasoned catfish and kind employees of the establishment. My food was not hot though. It took long enough to get it that I wasn't sending it back. The friend green tomatoes were a bit soggy (and to not be warm made them rough to eat).

Came in to visit from California, I had already researched a few places to try while in Huntsville, But quickly knew this was the one we needed to go to. And ohhh let me tell you, I left there feeling like I attended a family Sunday dinner, the food was amazing, the service amazing, the hospitality and just the wholesome love put into this food well, makes you want more. Although we were stuffed we were offered a sample of other items on the menu, And all of it was delicious, Mac n cheese, yams,cabbage, fried corn, ohh my!!! Wait time was ridiculous for a place known for a fast great lunch, dont think you are going here on a lunch break! Pork chops very dry, cashier rude and doesn't listen. No receipt given.

Stopped in today for lunch. Fried chicken like it's supposed to be! And the sides were wonderful too. We'll definitely be back. The staff was attentive and working hard.

This place was dynamite. Pot roast was one of the specials and it had me licking my plate clean it was so good. The hushpuppies, fried green tomatoes, mac and cheese and black eyed peas were all spot on. Service was excellent and the vibe of the whole place was just one of happiness. Three of us ate like pigs and got out of there for under $60 which I thought was a really good deal for all the food we had. Definitely go there but don't plan on being very active after you eat because you'll be full...

I'm from Nashville I first came to G's when my daughter started AAMU two years ago. Everyone was so nice! The food was AMAZING! Yes, there was a wait but the food is worth the wait. The prices are great! I come here everytime I come to Alabama and they greet me with 'HEY CASHVILLE" lol I love how they remember their customers. I have NEVER had a bad experience and I've been there several times. My daughter loves the "OBAMA JUICE" I love the lemonade. Check them out!

G's is one of those whole in the wall restaurants that all of the locals go to because it is that good! The food at G's is delicious southern cooking! the fried pork chops are to die for!! The wait staff treated us very well and Mo, the owner came out to check on us and even sat and chatted for a bit. we were treated like family on our first visit! we will be back!!

Called in order one take out meal and was told be ready in 30 minutes. End it up wait 1 hour and 30 minutes . Even the food was as good in the world, it is not worth it.

Visiting Alabama for the first time and G's Country Kitchen was recommended by family. Had a good meal. Standout was the Catfish, nicely seasoned and fried. Mac n cheese was good along with the potato salad. Just a little to salty on the collard greens, or would have been a 5. The service was a 5, nice and friendly!

HOLY MOLY GOOD. This place is the real deal. Delicious country food. The turnip greens are better than my grandmother's (don't tell her!). The catfish filet is a little crunchy for my taste but has great flavor. The mashed potatoes and gravy: to die for. The hush puppies, fried okra, and fried green tomatoes: so so good. The sweet tea is SWEET, squeeze a lemon slice and go. The service was great and friendly. This is soul food at its finest. I will definitely be back to try everything on the menu. You can get line to place to go food, or have a seat for table service.

Lawd hav mercy!!! It's been SO long since I've had good soul food. But this right here...is great soul food!!! It states on the door it's not "fast food." They're absolutely correct, because they take the time to put love into everything they do. They whole staff was friendly and extremely hospitable. I felt like I walked into my grandmothers house after playing outside. Fresh, delicious, and worth the wait. If you're in Huntsville and haven't tried it, make sure you do. Don't get upset if it takes time. Great things are worth the wait!

So. I first visited G's several years ago and had a less than stellar experience. It wasn't bad, but it was pretty forgettable and I had other meat and 3s that I preferred. But. The one exceptional thing we had was the pound cake. So when we were in the neighborhood today, I figured we ought to give it another go; the restaurant gets such excellent reviews we were sure we must have missed something. I'm super pleased to announce that we did, in fact, miss something. Our lunch today was excellent! My mom and I were waited on by a super friendly and fast lady. Everyone working there was obviously hustling in the super busy restaurant, but they were all super pleasant and stayed smiling the whole time. I had the fried chicken breast and leg with macaroni and cheese, yams, and a roll. The sweet tea to drink was delightfully sweet and refreshing. The fried chicken was succulent, crispy, and cooked perfectly. The macaroni and cheese was a little on the soft side, but it was super creamy and cheesy. And the yams! So sweet, soft, and buttery. Even the roll was really good. My mom got the special of the day. It was a TON of food for the price. Country fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, cabbage, and macaroni and cheese. She remarked that the country fried steak was absolutely amazing; it tasted just as good as if it had been made at home (but no mess or cleanup!) The only thing we didn't love was the cabbage. On the downside...we loved our food so much and chowed down so hard that we were too full to eat pound cake, which was the whole reason we came to begin with. Oh well. That just means we'll have to visit again!

Omg they are the bomb. Now this is food I don't mind waiting for! The chicken falls right off the bone both fried and baked! Them yams get 'em. They fry everything perfect and the smothering for the baked chicken is why I moved to the south from Cali fasho.

Horrible customer service ! Wait was entirely too long. 2 hours is ridiculous. People sat and ordered after us and received their food before us. When we asked how much longer for our food, we were told we could leave, so we did. DO BETTER!

I have not been to this venue since pre-COVID, and I must say, nothing has changed. The people are still warm and inviting,, the dining area is still classic and the food is still AMAZING. If you're in search for some true down-home southern cooking, you've GOT to make it your business to stop by this place. What I love most about this place is the wait for the food. I know that's silly to say, but there is a catch! The wait only means your food is being freshly made and personally tended to. When I received my fillets of catfish, they were steaming hot and very delicious. Actually, delicious is an understatement. Served with two side dishes and your choice to complement the meal with fresh onion and a slice of tomato, reminds me of home in the Mississippi Delta. It's hard to find food like home, but this place offers me nostalgia, ultra. I had two fresh fish fillets, black eyed peas, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a handful of corn hush puppies. The meal was very comforting and fulfilling, so fulfilling that couldn't even finish it all! The prices are outrageously sensible for such good food and a southern rich experience. I could literally eat here everyday! Two thumbs up!

Had a horrible second experience. Do not come to this restaurant and spend your hard earned money. The staff is rude and unruly. We waited over an hour for our food that we never received and our server "Mo" told us we could leave as we inquired about the status of our food. People who sat down after us received their order before us. When we first arrived we waited for menus. Once we received menus we waited another 20mins before "Mo" came over to assist and take orders. I let him know that I needed to place a Togo order and he never came back to take my order. We never received our food and this place lacks hospitality. I've been to this establishment before for a takeout order and that was much better. If you cannot pay personnel, if you cannot invest in proper customer service training and if you don't have the equipment to run a business then, DON'T. I'll never visit this establishment again and I wouldn't recommend it to anyone that wants to be treated fairly or like you're a paying customer.

Walked in and was greeted warmly. The server was so attentive and helped me out every step of the way. I ordered catfish yams and potato salad with a sweet tea. Sweet tea was very sweet. The fish was so good. Nice and fresh. The yams stole the show though. They are made to perfection. I didn't like the cornbread, wasn't sweet at all. The potato's salad was really good also

I found this hidden gem through Yelp! Man let me tell ya...... The food was outstanding. The service was awesome! You gotta get there as early as possible because they will run out of food. I work out of town a lot and visit many places. When I'm in Huntsville, this is my #1 spot!

I'm writing this while sitting in my car in the parking lot of G's, because I'm SO FULL I could burst! First of all, the employees were all delightful and their hospitality stood out, especially to a former Bostonian/current Californian. The food was...incredible. I don't know how else to put it. The sweet tea was perfect. The pork chops were juicy. The yams and the turnip greens were delicious. I never got my side of hush puppies but I was too full to ask them for it! I took a slice of the pound cake to go! Will be back if I'm ever in Huntsville again. Thank you G's!

I can not pass through this area without stopping by here, best soul food in this area. It may take a little waiting, but I assure you it's worth the wait. I use to live in Huntsville and I always came for those fried green tomatoes and catfish, it still tastes the same, and the cashier still remembered my name from over 6 years ago, you can't beat that kind of southern hospitality! Thanks for never changing!

Prices have increased tremendously, always out of food and won't tell you until you pay. Which that should be communicated before you place your order. None of the combos come with a drink. Haven't been to this establishment in a while and I understand why, probably will not return.

Food reminds me of old country buffet or Ryan's as they call it in the south. Not familiar with any of them then I know you've heard of Golden Corral. The banana pudding did not have enough pudding, or sugar, the chicken missing seasoning, the pork chop was more fat and bone. The Mac n cheese had no flavor, mashed potatoes and gravy tasted boxed, cornbread burnt, rolls were good, black eyed peas had no flavor or seasoning. I wanted to support my people, but as a chef and foodie, this ain't it fam.

Placed our order, then waited at a table for an hour without any food. In fact, all the 15 occupied tables were also waiting with no food on any table. The woman behind the counter was filling "to go" orders only. Two couples got up & walked out. There were about 4 or 5 cooks in the back, 2 people busing tables & 2 working the counter. We waited an hour, canceled our order, and left. No one said there was going to be a wait. Very bad management. Never got to try the food. I will not return.

Great home cooking soul food. I had the catfish filet plate w greens and mac and cheese. Catfish cornmeal breading was so crispy and the fish nice and moist! My comrads had the fried chicken plates. Not a sound was made!

We went for dinner. The food is phenomenal! Love the serving sizes! I had the pork chops and they were perfect! Mom got the veggie plate and she loved it! The people were super friendly and the food came out quickly. Faster than I expected. There was no conversation at our table as we were too busy cleaning our plates! It was clean and filled with people enjoying their meals. Will happily return.
