Went here for a birthday dinner and it was great. We got the calamari, focaccia bread (regular), grilled octopus, insalata di zucca, branzino entre, side of spaghetti, farfalle pasta entre, scaloppina (chicken picatta essentially), and the funghi white pizza. Dessert was a scoop of pistachio gelato.
Calamari- good. Calamari is hard to mess up so no need to elaborate.
Focaccia- good. Came in a square, cut into four blocks. We got the regular one but the table next to us got the garlic one and that looked really good. Came in slices rather than blocks with a garlic oil on top. Next time, I'd order that one over the reg.
Grilled octopus- came with a puréed celery root mash. I've never enjoyed grilled octopus but this one was good. Like a smokey seafood version of steak. Impressive.
Insalata di zucca- roasted squash, spinach, radicchio, goat cheese, pecans, vinaigrette. Pretty good but very small. Need to order maybe two at least for four ppl to split. Maybe small enough just for one person tbh.
Branzino-okay, perhaps a little underwhelming.
Spaghetti- great! Pasta had that bouncy texture of being hand made or at least high quality and sauce was filled with big chunks of hearty tomato. Wish I had ordered this as a full entre.
Farfalle- veal and pork bolognese pasta. Honestly, too salty and none of us really enjoyed it. Would skip.
Scaloppina - okay but I've had better ones. I will say it is humongous. It comes in options of veal tenderloin or chicken breast. We got chicken breast.
Funghi pizza- mushroom pizza with white sauce. Really good thin pizza. Dough was nice, everything was light.
Pistachio gelato- much more grainy than I expected since gelato is known to be much silkier than ice cream but not in a bad way at all. Maybe it was just a little icy? Idk honestly I liked it so hope my description doesn't deter anyone from ordering it. It's a refreshing last thing to top off a meal.
Service was great. Server was always checking in, food came out quickly, and the amount of times they refilled our water was crazy. Everyone was very attentive. They did forget that we ordered another focaccia to go but speedily corrected it when we came back and asked for it.
Ambiance was nice. It's casual enough where I saw a few people who looked like they came after work to chit chat over pasta and wine. Fancy enough where you can also sort of dress up (suit) and not stand out. The place has dim lighting but not in a "can't see anything gotta squint next to a candle" kind of way, just in a nice comforting, sophisticated way. There's chatter but it's not loud or obtrusive in any way.
Plenty of parking outside as it's located in a plaza. It's pretty expensive. The total of our meal was around $210, not including tip.
I think this is a solid place, not necessarily going to blow your socks off but it's reliably good and impeccable service.
