GSQ - Review - Mayfair - London - The Infatuation

"GSQ is a deli-cafe on the ground floor of Mayfair’s swanky Chancery Rosewood hotel, which is tailor-made for the classiest business meeting of your life. There is security patrolling the hotel outside. There are senior staff who drift around in ‘normal’ clothes (which makes the arrival of your latte a bit of a jumpscare). The plant collection is thriving, and so are the bank accounts of the people selling million-pound properties (an apartment, just across the road, overlooking Grosvenor Square) on the table across from you. The food is average to fine, but that’s not what you’re here for. You’re here to tap away on a MacBook Air in a sleek, cushioned banquette alongside people who use Pret A Manger’s full name." - Sinéad Cranna

Below standards expected for a 5 star hotel. I stopped by for a tea and a sandwich. The food was excellent but service was a little slow. It took a while for the focaccia sandwich to be served, about 15 mins but they’re already pre-made and wrapped in the counter display. When the waiter served my tea, he asked if I wanted it poured, which I said yes, only to realise it hadn’t had the time to brew properly! Amateur. Either tell the customer it needs to brew or bring it after it’s had the time to infuse. Also, tea bags and not tea leaves are used, I expect better quality from a 5 star hotel. I had the smoked salmon focaccia sandwich which was very nice. The patisserie looked great but I didn’t need to have both when I visited so I didn’t try them. The customer on the neighbouring table with whom I chatted, asked for honey when they served his coffee. It took them ages to bring it by which time his coffee had gone a bit cold. Too slow!! His mezze platter looked good and he was happy with that. The toilets were APPALLING!! There is one accessible and one unisex shared. The previous user, was clearly male, didn’t flush, left a mess on the seat and on the floor. Women do not like to share toilets with men for this very reason!! At least have separate toilets!! You might get this in a high street chain but not in a 5 star brand new hotel!!! Overall, food nice, servers were lovely but as mentioned, a bit slow. Venue is modern but didn’t feel that impressive. I’d go again but not a destination venue. Note to management- sort out the toilets!!

The place is absolutely lovely, and Aster provided such great service! The smoked salmon focaccia was delicious, and the pecan pumpkin pie was the perfect treat for the autumn season. Nothing to fault about the food or the price — we’ll definitely be back soon! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tried GSQ at the new Rosewood Hotel for breakfast. I had the avocado toast and a pastry – the food was okay, nothing amazing but decent. The setting of the restaurant is very nice, definitely has a great atmosphere. Service could be improved. The staff were very friendly, but they missed some of the finer details – like not bringing cutlery with my order and forgetting salt and pepper even after I asked. Small things, but they make a difference. Overall, nice spot with a beautiful setting, but the service needs a bit more attention to detail to match the hotel’s standards.

a walk-in guest. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was elegant and relaxing. I ordered tea and pumpkin soup — both were tasty and nicely served. Overall, it was a pleasant dining experience.

I recently visited GSQ at The Chancery Rosewood and was thoroughly impressed by both the setting and the level of service. The café is beautifully designed—light-filled, tastefully modern, and a calm escape in the heart of central London. It strikes a perfect balance between sophistication and relaxation, ideal for either a solo coffee or a business catch-up. What stood out most was the attentive service of staff members Cherise and Ricardo, who approached their roles with genuine warmth and professionalism. They made me feel welcome from the moment I arrived, ensuring everything ran smoothly without ever being intrusive. It’s rare to find such consistent attention to detail and personable service in a newly opened establishment.

Very helpful and wonderful staff. They were accommodating and assisted me with reservatiosas well as arrangements for small group meetings with others at very short notice. Definitely will be visiting them again when I return to the UK.

Great décor but mediocre food. My quiche was served half hot, half cold, and the chia pudding was far too sweet. The cappuccino was the size if a flat white. Also, the place was freezing with both big doors left open. Dissapointing as i came in the summer when they open and really liked the experience

We waited patiently for about 10 minutes for a table, as instructed, and were told to queue to the side of the covered terrace. Suddenly, torrential rain began, and instead of offering even a small gesture of understanding, the hostess and manager insisted our party of three move outside in the downpour - into the rain.. This was incredibly disrespectful and unreasonable, especially considering our attire (suits and dresses) and the footwear of the ladies in our group. To ask guests to wait is one thing - we had no issue with that, but to demand that we stand in heavy rain, with no name-taking or proper system in place, is simply unacceptable. Please see the attached video for the severity of the rain. To make matters worse, the hostess at one point raised her voice and spoke aggressively to my friend, which was both unprofessional and unnecessary. As locals who were genuinely excited to support and experience the new hotel on our road, the whole situation left us deeply disappointed. This level of treatment is totally ridiculous and does not reflect the standards one would expect.
