Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant

I grew up with this restaurant when it was FIVE STARS across ALL CATEGORIES. Not anymore. We spent $80 last night for 3 measly meals and a large chips and salsa (I had specifically been craving their tortilla soup, which I didn’t even order because it’s now $16 for a simple tomato broth and 4 cheap soup toppings). I’ve been annoyed for several years by their gradual shrinkflation and increasing “to-go container” charges, but when I didn’t tip 18% for our pick up order last night, the bags were thrown in my hands rudely and I was left, for the first time ever, to take my bags, alone, to my handicapped car in the parking lot. Go to Ernesto’s or Tiago’s. Guadalajara is no longer a “neighborhood favorite.”

My kids and I have been to the homestead location and love it!! Today, I tried this location and OMG not only the food was GREAT but the presentation matched it! I can taste the good meat quality used in their dishes. Service was also top notch! Definitely going back

I have been eating in this restaurant for over 25 years and continue to come back and always experience te same wonderful happy environment. Service and servers all have great attitudes and food is equally tasteful with very good portions. Thank you to all in the restaurant and especially to Janina. We will be back!!!!

It was pretty good and we had a very friendly waitress. The super nachos were great - they use a thicker tortilla chip to ensure crunch on every bite! The only reason we didn’t give it 5stars, was because the tacos al pastor were a bit dry. Otherwise, good casual Mexican dinning in the Miami area

This is a great find in Miami. It’s tucked away off US 1. We try to go on weekday nights because weekends are PACKED and the parking lot is small. There is inside and outside seating but not more than maybe 100 people could be served at 1 time. The food is great! The refried beans are smooth and rich, enchiladas are really tasty. One of my favs is the spinach enchilada with chicken, it has a light sauce on it and is soooo good. They do a molé sauce there and it’s good but a little on the sweet side for me. My son got the chicken tacos and finished them in about 5 seconds they were so good! The only thing that could be improved is the rice. The yellow rice is “eh”. But their servings are large, enough for take home at the end of the meal, servers are nice and overall the food is great!

Love this place! We’ve been loyal customers for over 20 years and always have a great experience! The staff is amazing! They make you feel welcome and treat you like family! The food is always great and the ambience is relaxed and cozy! We have another Mexican restaurant right across the street, but we consistently choose to come back to Guadalajara! We absolutely love Yanina! She is wonderful. There’s not a time that I go in there that she doesn’t ask how my children are doing and how everybody’s feeling. We are so thankful to have this little spot in the area and plan on being customers for many years to come!

Classic Mexican place that's great quality and not too expensive! Probably the best Mexican restaurant by my house.

The food is consistently good, the service is consistently good, and the restaurant is comfortable (both inside and outside seating). During COVID they had a tendency to nickel and dime you - charging for the to-go containers or for extra sauce - but that stopped, I think. Their bathroom is clean enough to use but in very poor shape.

We've driven passed Guadalajara many times and have always said we want to stop in one day to try it! Well one day finally came yesterday, after many days of Thanksgiving leftovers, we wanted to get out of the house and go somewhere we hadn't before. We came with our 10 year old daughter and loved it! The restaurant is nice and simple which I enjoy, Mexican decor adorns the interior, staff very warm and welcoming upon entering. As soon as we sat down, we were greeted and provided a basket of freshly made chips and two bowls of salsa, man the salsa was so good! Their menu is pretty extensive, it was hard to choose what we wanted, we decided to get a smorgasbord of items. I ordered queso fundido with chorizo and flour tortillas, a chile relleno stuffed with beef (your choice of meat) and a side of corn tortillas, mambo enchiladas which includes four enchiladas drizzled with four different sauces and your choice of meat, we went with chicken. My daughter ordered the kids burrito filled with shredded beef. Wow the portions of everything was amazing! The food was flavorful, we couldn't get enough, even my picky daughter nearly cleared her plate! Our waitress was the sweetest, very attentive, regularly checking in and offering salsas. She brought a hot sauce to the table that I'm now obsessed with. When we got home I asked my daughter what she'd rate it out of 10 and she gave it 10/10. We look forward to coming back!

I've heard about this restaurant for years but never tried it until last week. I really wanted to love it, but I would have to say everything was just mediocre. The atmosphere is sort of like an upgraded Taco Bell or fast food restaurant, with very basic tables, minimal decor, and everything on the older side. The service was good, not great, in that we waited a while for drink refills even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I am a huge mole fan and get it at every Mexican restaurant I go to and this was not up to par. It did not taste like a traditional mole at all. I will say that the chips were fresh and very tasty and there was no issue getting refills on the chips. With so many Mexican restaurants in the area to try I don't know if I'll be back here anytime soon.

Service was great!!! Soup was average but honestly its just not my type. Fajitas were amazing!!!!

My coworkers are obsessed with this place and brought me here for a working lunch. The restaurant is very cozy and inviting. It has a parking lot with limited spots. Since it was my first time, my table decided to order different items for us to share and try. We ordered a quesadilla de pollo, quesadilla de carne, and taquitos de pollo. The food was okay. I found it to be bland for Mexican food. I expected more flavor. I was also thrown off by the margaritas. I ordered a strawberry margarita and was shocked to find that I was not a fan, I was later informed that they make theirs with wine instead of tequila due to their alcohol license. This place for me was average.

So it's 8 PM and you just realized that you have a serious case of the hangries coming on and the only prescription for it is "More Cowbell" ....... LOL! More like some awesome Mexican food right! Well I can relate as this evening I was really craving some quality Mexican food and Guadalajara Mexican Restaurant really fit the bill. This restaurant is nestled in Palmetto Bay right off of South Dixie Highway. It has been here at the same location since as far back as I can remember for good reason. This is a family owned business that really does a great job of delivering legit Mexican food for a very fair price. The service here is second to none as everyone is all smiles and very friendly. Upon arriving I was greeted and within a few minutes was seated and trying to decide what to order. Menu has many options for everyone but on this occasion I decide to try the Baja Shrimp Tacos, which were amazing! Four crisp corn tortillas with Shrimp, cabbage topping and their home made Baja Shrimp sauce with some french fries and green cilantro rice. Portions are decent as well but if you are feeling like an appetizer, you may want to try their Queso Fundido with Chorizo which is amazing. The atmosphere here is very relaxed and casual and the restaurant is very clean as well. They have inside and outside seating so if you prefer to dine "Al Fresco" they got you covered as well. Parking can be a bit tricky but no worries as their is a shopping mall right across that you can park at with no fear of being towed. I have been coming here for years and you really can't go wrong if you want some legit no frills Mexican food in a great family atmosphere. So if you are in the area and looking for some great Mexican food feel free to check them out. Enjoy your evening and Buen Provecho mis amigos!

My co-worker turned me onto this place! Settled in a nice quiet neighborhood, One of the best Mexican Restaurants I've been to... Everything Tastes Authentic and Fresh! Highly recommend to bring Family, Co-workers, or friends! The staff is very friendly... I had the Whole Fried Snapper this time! Nicely seasoned.

Service was fast the food was not bad. I think the fajitas needed something not sure what. The nachos are good with steak. It's usually very mellow which we like.

In Pincrest there are not that many good Mexican restaurants , this place is one of the few. They are always consistent, the food is delicious , the service is always so friendly, and it's good price for the amount of food you receive. The inside of the restaurant is cute and they always serve chips and salsa which are tasty. The meals are big portions. It comes with the burritos and a side of rice , beans and toppings for the burrito.

What went well? Well, my dinning experience started off right with Manager Janina greeting me with a hug as usual. Then she guessed what I wanted to eat today which was a taco salad. Would you believe the Manager brought out a freshly cooked taco shell just for me. The Homestead Guadalajara Restaurant never cooked me a fresh cooked taco shell. The PineCrest Guadalajara Restaurant is the best out of all Guadalajara Restaurants and I have been going to the Homestead Guadalajara Restaurant since like I believe 1990. PineCrest Guadalajara Management is loved by her customers as evident by what just happened! I'm here bragging about how I'm receiving special treatment when 2 other valued customers just dropped off a beautiful basket to the Manager. See attached picture taken without permission. Janina is the best!!!! Excuse my spelling of her name.

We have been coming to Guadalajara for at least the last 25 years! There is another Mexican restaurant within the area, but we always come back here because the service and food are consistently amazing! It's so nice to walk in and be greeted like part of the family. The intentionality of the staff is amazing. Most of the time I don't even have to tell them what I want they already know! I plan on coming back here for the next 25 years! so glad to have this little spot in the area! Shout out to the manager Yanina, she always make us fell welcome and like part of the family!

The food was absolutely amazing. Some of the most authentic and tasty Mexican food I've had. Prices are worth it personally. The service was amazing. Our waiter was very attentive and very alert. The ambiance is nice and simple. Very casual which i loved, not a big place.

Ive been here 3 times only but Its one of my FAVORITE Mexican spots, I would be there if it was closer to the kendall area! Staff is wonderful and the vibes are fantastic definitely deserves more recognition!

Tried this place for the first time last night! I'm a lover of good ole classic Mexican food. Driving up, the building reminds me of the staple places I'd find at home in the Florida panhandle. We were greeted promptly and chose a table outside on the covered patio. Every employee we encountered was so friendly! One thing we were missing was some nice Mexican tunes playing - a speaker on the patio would've been awesome. We started with a strawberry margarita and a michelada. The restaurant only serves beer & wine, but I'm never too good for a wine-based marg. The salsa was delicious!! It was a little chunkier than I prefer, but nothing a little chopping with a tortilla chip can't fix. The flavor was perfect! Not too spicy but still a good kick of heat. Without looking closely at the menu, we ordered queso, and it seems all they had was a queso fundido instead of a more sauce-like, runnier queso dip. The queso fundido was delicious, but just so filling because it's a lot thicker. For entrees, we tried El Zarape with chicken and Bistec Tejano. The portions were huge! The chicken was grilled to perfection. I've been trying to try more foods and have come to love slow cooked bell peppers in ropa vieja, but I'm still not a huge fan of less cooked bell peppers - the ones in the dish were just a little too crunchy for me, but my boyfriend will surely devour them in the plenty of leftovers we brought home. Like the queso fundido, I wish I the melted cheese on top of the dish was more liquidy-queso-like. Still really good though! The Bistec Tejano good was a little tough - we thought it would be a thinner, skirt-like cut, but it was more of New York strip. Totally our fault for not reading closer, but we should've ordered it to be cooked at a lower temp. The rice and beans with both entrees were nice and classic. Overall, we really enjoyed trying a new spot without the frills you find as you get closer to Miami proper. We will certainly return to try more of their offerings!

Burrito Norte is delicious and so is the rice and beans that is served. My complaint is the fish tacos. There is barely any fish in the tacos for $19.95. Service is slow.

The food was tasty--not amazing, but it scratched my itch for real Mexican food which is impossible to come by in South Beach! The service by German was top-notch! We've been to this great Mexican restaurant in homestead and didn't realize this was a sister restaurant. I'll admit to being nervous because of some of the reviews but for us this place was a hit. Fast, professional service, good food and reasonable prices. German was excellent and really took care of us. We took his recommendation on the queso fundido and I ate so much of it that I could only eat one of my echilada mambo choices. Packed up for lunch tomorrow. (Winning) we had the enchilada mambo which is four enchiladas in different sauces. I had them all chicken. I ate the one in red sauce and it was delicious. Hubby had the Texas burrito and enjoyed it immensely. The food tasted fresh and was served nice and hot. We enjoyed the chips and salsa. The salsa was nothing to write home about but the chips were crispy and great with the queso. We had lots of queso left over since it was a nice portion so ordered some flour tortillas to go so we can make quesadillas tomorrow. (Winning again). Definitely will return and recommend.

No parking, salsa tasted like ketchup, sweet and no spice. Food was bland, my wife ordered the caldo de res and had no flavor at all. 2 stars for the margaritas and the house hot sauce, which you need in order to spice up the bland food. Otherwise would have been 1 since you can't leave zero.

Had the Zárape today.its basically fajitas with melted cheese. The version here is outstanding.the meat used is very good you can cut it with a fork. There is so much that are the three tortillas stuffed full and still had enough left for a big lunch next day

So far disappointed with my Burito Norteño served cold! I hate cold food! But wait...excellent customer service, the remedied my situation with a new plate hot & lovely. Thank you for caring about my dining experience at your establishment!

Burrito Norteno is a must have item. Mexican Bullet are good if you like Jalapenos rellenos. service is always great

This is my favorite Mexican Restaurant. I have yet to have anything that tops this for me, every time I visit my parents we go. I get the Burrito Norteño or the Enchiladas Rojas. The salsa is delicious, the beans are so flavorful, everything is always delicious . The staff are also the kindest!

Excellent customer service. The food is the very best in the whole area. I highly recommend this place. I had the chimichanga with shredded chicken although I think I got bumped for $12 for two tacos. Something is wrong with that price but anyways you live and learn, right enjoy your experience. It had been years since I had been, but wanted to go when I was back in town. The drinks (mainly margaritas) were delicious. Their chips, salsa, guacamole were a great beginning. Most of the meals were good, but grandson asked for medium rare steak - first time it came, it was so well done that he couldn't cut it; second time it was raw (even the server noticed. We ended up taking it home and cooking it ourselves. Server was attentive.

The team is super friendly and looks nice inside. Everything was clean and the owner is such a good person. Had a lot of fun and enjoyed really good food which tastes fresh. Highly recommend this place and will come again.

God this is my ultimate FAVORITE place like no matter what this place just never disappoints. It's yummy,it's inexpensive, it's clean! staff is very kind. I always have the same server she's a younger girl and she's just the sweetest very attentive and always great service.

Went for Father's Day and it wasn't a long wait nor packed like other popular restaurants. I love how it's a side building with not much traffic. Parking is limited in front. The food and service is amazing as well as their margaritas. Highly recommend drinking 1, that will get you. The melted cheese and side guacamole as appetizers are the best I've ever had. My chalupa main dish with carne was perfect. We were a party of 10 and no one has any complaints. 2nd time here and I'm always leaving happy! Love this place!!

Be prepared to come hungry because you will be eating a lot. They serve lots of food. I went here with 3 of my friends. I had a portobello and vegetable fajitas. You can add chicken and beef for an extra charge it is served with guacamole, sour cream and brown fried smash beans. It was good. I had a margarita on the rock with salt the glass is huge. They serve tortilla chips with sauce for free at the very beginning. The service was good. Constantly bringing us water and check in to see if we needed something else. Now that's good service. I love the Mexican food here. The disadvantage is the parking is very small for the amount of people that go. I end up parking next door. Other, than that everything was good.

Delicious Mexican food in a family friendly environment. Their salsa is something special and my go to dish is the chicken enchiladas (sans cheese for me). Service is always pleasant and generally fast, which is a plus if you're looking to stop by for a quick bite. Prices are a little high compared to other Mexican restaurants, but it's not unreasonable. I come here knowing that I'll leave happy, stuffed, and ready for a nap after.

We have eaten here many times over the years, both sit-down and take out, and usually have been quite satisfied. Last night we did take out of a seafood chimichanga and were very disappointed. The servings of rice and beans were skimpy, but the major disappointment was the chimichanga. There was very little seafood (a few shrimp and a couple pieces of fish), and it seemed like it had all been way overcooked. It was bad enough that we probably will not be going there any more. Too bad, since we live only one block away (not in California).

I ordered fajitas steak, had nice portion of steak lots of onions but no peppers like you usually would expect in fajitas. Taste and temperature were fine but only steak and onions. On the side there was an ample scoop of sour cream and guacamole, a small pico de gallo but no rice and the refried beans tasted like canned, watery and little flavor. Dish came with 3 small corn tortillas were ok. My wife had a taco salad looked ok, chicken on top not hot or tasty just ok. The first portion of table chips were cold and deemed stale. Second bowl was freshly made and very good. Salsa was good. The service was adequate a little slow but place was packed. Waiter, Cesar, was acceptable friendly polite. Ambiance was not great, place could use a facelift. The noise was intolerant the acoustics are poor especially when several table of little children are making lots of loud noises. Pricing not great. $22 for fajitas, taco salad priced in the teens,$3.95 for fountain soda, $13 for a margarita. Little high on the drinks. Overall, since it's a family run restaurant and not a chain, I don't like to pan the place but I'm not planning on a return visit anytime soon. Hopefully the intention of my review is to give the establishment a fair assessment of the experience and they will use it to improve. I hope it doesn't keep business away. Try it, YOU might find the place ok. Parking sucks not enough spaces.

Always amazingly good food. Anything on the menu is delicious! Especially love the enchiladas suizas and the zarape. The service is always really great too!

The most authentic Mexican food around hands down! The taco trio is decadent and you can do your combo of tacos, comes with refried beans and rice. The tostadas are another amazing option but then again so is everything on their menu! We have gone almost everyday this week and besides the food being amazing the service just puts it over the top! It's like walking into your nanas house for dinner, need I say more! The ambiance compliments the home cooking, welcoming feeling. This one is my top Mexican gem! Thank you to all the staff members that go above and beyond every single time we visit!

After craving Mexican for weeks, we decided to give Guadalajara a try! It happened to be a rather large group of us (12), and we were hoping to find a way to keep our group together -- thankfully, the staff was eager to help and arranged a long table grouping for all of us. The restaurant tends to be a bit loud, as the layout is completely open and sound travels, BUT good food attracts a crowd. ‍ My husband placed a few orders of their homemade horchata and it was a big hit amongst our group. 10/10 from the horchata-first-timers. Also.... Excellent salsa (a must) We ordered chicken tacos, and steak fajitas and were pleased with both. Definitely an American-Mexican cuisine but you can never go wrong there (plus finding Mexican food in Miami is a task in itself) Good experience & good service

The Ground beef is juicy as a medium filet mignon. Services is awesome. And you never have to make a reservation because the place always has a table for you.

First thing I noticed was that the Tacos are not authentic. Cheese, lettuce, and tomato are American and Tex-Mex constructs. Sure there are SOME kinds that have these condiments, but not every Taco! Second, the Service was really bad. Our waitress seemed overwhelmed. The house salsa is mostly tomato sauce and doesn't taste authentic. Last, the Menudo was good and so was the Caldo de Res. If I had to come back, I'd probably order one of those l. The Michelada is the worst one I ever had. Didn't look or taste like one, so I sent it back.

Service was mediocre at best, food also mediocre and certainly not genuine Mexican food, being quite familiar with Mexican food, having lived in both California and Mexico. I asked the waitress about a very popular Mexican dish "menudo", she was totally clueless and rather dismissive. Atmosphere is dreary not an inviting place to dine or visit.

First time trying out Guadalajara. Had the Norteño Burrito platter and it was super tasty! The plate was big enough so I ended up sharing it. We tried it with chicken you can also have it with steak and ground beef. I loved the melted cheese on top even though I'm lactose into it braved it out and it was so worth it! We also had Horchatas! They were good, a little too milky for me, I've had ´em more watery in other places which I prefer as I felt like I was drinking a glass of cow milk which is not my friend (due again to lactose intolerance). But if you like it very milky then you're gonna love this one! The restaurant has outdoor seating and while I ate I must've seen at least 10 cars pick up orders so the place is popular! I would definitely go back and try other delicious Me I can dishes as I love Mexican food! There's plenty of parking up front but also there's a gas station right next door in case you don't find parking up front and want to take a few extra steps. Otherwise there's parking right in front of the door!

Arrived at 7:15pm on a Wednesday night. A few tables were occupied. Our friends joined us last minute so when we requested two more seats be added, we explained that we needed separate bills (my family was 4 and my friends were 2). We ordered appetizers & drinks and they brought our chips (cold) and salsa. Before our appetizers arrived they asked what we wanted as our main meals. We told the server we would order once apps arrived so that all the food wouldn't arrive together. As we waited (and waited) for appetizers, tables left and 2 more parties arrived. When we asked when our appetizers were coming out, he explained that they had too many to go orders that was backing up the kitchen. Again, we noticed the new parties received their food and we still had nothing. We brought it to the servers attention and he sent the manager over. Her lack of customer service was evident as she again says we should have ordered all of our food as to speed up the process yet we still had not received our appetizers. We ordered our main dishes, only to wait AGAIN for another 25 minutes. At this point the restaurant is empty and we are still waiting. The manager once again comes to our table to explain why we've waited so long... basically she tells us it's our fault for not ordering all of our food upon arrival. Our fault! Not there's! No apologies. Simply putting the blame on us. When we get the two bills, we have an automatic 18% gratuity added to each of our bills! We were a party of 4 and our friends were a party of 2! We told the manager that it was not correct and she (very lame) says the computer automatically charges for a party of 6! Her excuse was unacceptable and we obviously will not be returning. We are a Pinecrest family who frequents all the local restaurants in the neighborhood but we won't be supporting Guadalajara any longer.
