9 Great Panaderías In NYC

"I fancy myself a pseudo-concha-connoisseur, so I head to this Bed-Stuy Mexican bakery for a concha shopping spree. It’s a tray-and-tong situation here, so load up on all the typical pan dulces like conchas (including bright blue, green, and seasonal designs like pumpkin), cuernitos, and a decadent dulce de leche cake. There are also seasonal specialties like pan de muerto (orange zest-flavored Day of the Dead bread) and Roscas de Reyes (“King’s Wreath” decorated with multicolored candied fruit peels eaten around Christmas)." - marisel salazar

Google
was reluctant to try a new bakery after a bad experience in bushwick but this place really blew my expectations out of the water. later in the day is hard to find a soft concha but these were still fluffy and delicious. the donut was probably the best donut i’ve ever had and overall i love the selection of fresh baked pastries, the way it should be. can’t wait to take my family here, just an awesome place!!

Google
I really enjoy buying bagels from this bakery every morning. Their service is super fast like I receive the hot bagels in a fresh bag instantly after ordering. Thank you guys!

Google
I was looking for a Rosca de Reyes and it didn’t disappoint. It was so delicious and the staff was very nice and friendly, would definitely go back again!

Google
I love coming here. There's so many different things to choose from and the girls behind the counter are always so nice. The prices are great and the breads are huge which I love.

Use to buy my kids birthday cakes from here because they were close to where we lived but the customer service was terrible. The last time we called in to order a cake they left us on hold for 20 min then hung up. Never returning. Especially when there are better cakes elsewhere with better customer service. The cakes are ok.

Google
I found this spot on social media and it was worth the travel. The workers were very friendly towards my family and the atmosphere of the place was very welcoming. The place is very clean. Would recommend the conchas, they’re very good.

Google
There is no place like this. Bread is always fresh no matter what time of the day you go. The staff is friendly and courteous.

Yelp
One of the BEST family owned Mexican bakeries in Brooklyn! Very respectful staff :) Ofc you can't leave with just 1 concha, rack up and try more varieties!

Yelp
I ordered pastries for our company, Latino end of year celebration. I was able to pay by credit card over the phone which was important for our expenses. The woman on the phone who took my order was very helpful, breaking it down. My Spanish is intermediate, so it was great That she spoke English really well and made ordering even easier. I got a picture of the receipt instantly texted to me for my records, and she also sent a sort of image to reference so I know what the name of the pastries was and the ingredients in then which was great. However, I would recommend that, the identification of the pastries, be much more clear because the names were a bit blurry and hard to read. Another plus was that even though they were not able to deliver to Hudson Yards I was able to have an Uber pick up the pastries and deliver them and they were able to bring it out to the Uber. Would love to order from them next time with hopefully a clearer idea of what I am ordering.

Yelp
I have never found a better Mexican bakery, not in New York, not in Chicago, not in multiple visits to the mission in San Francisco. Mainly, because everything is so fresh here...it seems like it is a commercial bakery that is just selling retail out the front. My favorite is what I have pictured below, which is two big Cakey sugar cookies sandwiching a jelly filling. It's a yellow, slightly vanilla batter with a tiny bite like a snickerdoodle has. $2! The pastries are enormous and at an unbeatable price. Cannot wait to go back. Glad it isn't closer because I would put on serious weight.

Yelp
So so happy to find fresh conchas in NY!! The conchas are very large, fluffy, perfectly sweet/fresh and there was a large variety of pan dulce. We went a bit later in the day but would love to go earlier to get some warm conchas! (: Was delicious even the next day when we heated them a bit with a coffee. Make sure to bring cash. Can't wait to go back!

Nicole T.

Yelp
Best smells coming out of this bakery. Delicious delicious pastries. I can't wait to go back. The staff are friendly.

Alicia K.

Yelp
The bread here is so bomb. I feel a lot of panaderias make bake all their bread early in the week and sell it throughout but this place always has fresh bread. So soft and yummy.

Yelp
Super fresh bread it taste amazing, they make bread every day to ship out. They make conchas and a variety of Mexican bread. They make fresh coffee as well.

Yelp
My favorite bakery! You walk in, ask for a tray and tongs and then off you go! There's always a nice selection! The lady behind the counter will tell you what kind of sweet bread it is or if there's a filling or not. So many to choose from!

Yelp
Today my mom went to the Guadalupana bakery, usually good customer service but not today. The guy barely talked when asked questions, and he did not pack the bread properly so our concha was squished :( so sad. Pics for reference!! Like dude why would you put the concha at the bottom of the bag?!

Yelp
Honestly this WAS the spot ,there conchas were bigger (my whole hand)now they made there conchas even smaller (my palm size)and charging up there price honestly they lost me as a customer of years! Perhaps they see me once a year for a rosca, other than that not paying for smaller portion product when I use to get more

Jessica H.

Yelp
I love this bakery. I am from Texas and it reminds me of all the pan dulce I used to eat in Laredo and San Antonio. I always get the donuts (so soft and not too sweet) and a long donut thing with a soft yellow filling (it tastes like what i used to eat called a cuernito, covered in sugar and tastes like cinnamon...). Bring cash!

Yelp
Amazing amazing! Tastes delicious First time trying Mexican bread and I'm in love Must go place! Nice people running the place I'll definitely go back

Yelp
This is a family run place I have been coming here for over 10 years and the pan dulce here is legit. The staff is so nice, they leave you be for the most part and let you go about your pan dulce business. I have also brought many a friend so they can experience a legit Mexican panadería. When you go in, it's a deli set up nothing fancy but the real fun part is when you pick up your charola (a tray you put pan dulce on) and go to the back part, where all the bread is out on baking trays. The ultimate best part is when those gems are fresh out of the oven, yummmm. Your life will be changed. Don't forget to stop by In Oct/Nov season they have "pan de muerto" which is less sweet than a traditional pan dulce but equally as good with a delicate cinnamon aroma.

Yelp
I was craving Mexican bread so my sister and I found this location on yelp and decided to make a quick stop. The bread is all in the back and they give you a pan and tongs so you can make your selections. They make bread and cookies all day and you will see them making them fresh. It's authentic and very good but it's best fresh, the next day not so much. I was really craving a Mexican jelly roll coconut cake and was really disappointed they didn't offer this one. The prices are extremely good. I bought about 8 pieces of bread and cookies and spent just 5 dollars.

Yelp
Honestly, we went here for exactly 1 item - pan de muerto. Havent tried anything else there, but they were friendly, cheap, and exactly what we were looking for. Literally, 4 pieces of pan de muerto and 2 coffees for like, $3 maybe $4. What's to complain about that. They are constantly baking, but I suggest going early in the morning for the best selection!

Molly R.

Yelp
Had large selection of pana dulches. Person working there was very nice & huge help in picking out some for my friend, as it was my first time shopping for this type of pastry. I will definitely return, it was a successful holiday surprise! Hope they get more pottery in, they had some cute, little painted jugs! The shop did a great job managing COVID with only allowing 1 customer in the small shop at a time and wearing masks~ many thanks!

Yelp
I stopped by this bakery again and the bread I got was kinda hard. I guess the quality of the bread is inconsistent depending on the time and quantity of the day. So maybe it's best to reach for the ones in the back if you can if you don't want the semi-stale ones.

Yelp
As a Mexican American, I consider myself as reliable a critic as there is when it comes to all matters concerning Mexican Bread. After being greeted my a pleasant young lady, I found my way to the back area to help myself to some bread. I grabbed an assortment consisting of about 20 breads to take home. The entire family loved EVERY bread. This is now my new supplier for fresh sweet Mexican bread. And, just so you know, the price was definitely right.

Yelp
Best Authentic Mexican Bakery in NYC ! Everything is amazing !! Everything is so fresh and tasty. From the amazing conchas to the delicious tres leches cakes. No matter where you are it's worth the trip.

Denise R.

Yelp
Went to get some fresh bread on a Monday morning but ended up with a hard bread. So sad! I came here before and their bread was better but I guess they sell old bread too. Customer service is also not as friendly as i thought either.

Louiza C.

Yelp
This place is amazing! I've been craving some mexican pastries and this place is one of the best bakeries I've ever been too (pan dulce has been a lifelong love of mine). Everything is fresh, they bake all day. Prices are incredible. Also a good selection of candy, cheese, jarritos, rice pudding, tres leches, the list goes on. No marranitos though :( Best pastry out of my haul was definitely the concha. It was also a little warm when I bought it.

Yelp
Love that place! I come often to buy some pan dulce. And you always find fresh ones no matter the time you come in! I also ordered my birthday cake from there! A tres leches! Stunning taste and so pretty! I recommend this place fully! So yummy!

Yelp
I have lived in this neighborhood for over 10 years and I have always enjoyed buying from this family owned bakery. I have always been treated with respect and with great customer service. I love their baked goods. They are always baked fresh. The prices are great too. But...... There's always a but! They have a young girl working there now that isn't so customer service friendly. I went in there the other day and she was rude and never giving me any eye contact. She took my money never saying thank you or smiling. So I figured, ok everyone has their bad days right? Well, I went today and she was the same way. When I went up to the counter to pay for my items she was busy doing something and so she said ok just give me a second. Now don't mean that she needed to drop everything and attend to me but its the way she said it and made me feel like she was doing me a big favor. She takes my money never even looks at me or says thank you for my business. So as I am leaving I reminded her that she should treat her customer courteously because they are a small business and word can get around very quickly in my neighborhood that their customer service there isn't so great. She became indignant and rolled her eyes at me. She's young right? Ok maybe her parents will see this review and give her a good talking to. Never had a problem with anyone else there. I will keep coming to get my pastries when I'm in the mood.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I was looking for an amazing, authentic Mexican dulce de leche cake and I found it here!! It was unbelievably delicious!!!!! I could not have been happier with the customer service (I had a lot of questions and they happily answered every one), the quality of the cake, and the cost! I will definitely be back!!

Angie L.

Yelp
Been coming to this bakery for years! Family owned , friendly staff .. prices are amazing! Bread is always fresh .. wish it was in a better neighborhood, the young lady in the front is always so kind & friendly , she has always treated me with respect , I believe people should treat people the same way they get treated , I've seen first hand how people are extremely rude & talk down to others just because they are simply doing their job .(just had to put it out their since I'm seeing negative comments) but I highly recommend this place ! Stop by & experience it yourself! Some people come here to just hurt or bash other people just because they can't get their way !

Yelp
Really good sheet cake, and all the different sweet breads amazing! They bake as you pick out your pastries,it smells amazing in there....

Foodie T.

Yelp
First time trying this place. Once I went to the back where all the magic happens, it was all about the smell. Got a vanilla flavored bun and can't wait to try their strawberry flavor.

Carolina C.

Yelp
Best mexican bread in Brooklyn ! :) My parents go every weekend to buy bread. Their bread is made right there in the bakery and when it's ready it's placed right away to sell. It's fresh and the taste is amazing ^.^ ! I highly recommend you guys to go and give it a try.

Conor S.

Yelp
Massive shout-out to this place. Last Friday I was in a pinch to get my girlfriend a congratulatory cake for her party and knew this place was down the street from the bar we had the party at. So with about 20 mins before they close I hightailed it there with dwindling hopes of success. The door was locked about 15 minutes before they were close so I called and they came out front from being in the back apologetic and explaining that they were just all in the back cleaning up. They were incredibly accommodating right before close (on a Friday night mind you) and even made a FRESH cake on the spot with writing on top for a super cheap price. As they baked it I chatted with some of the people there and appreciated their passion for their family business. And to top it all off, the cake was incredible! Everyone loved it... Thank god. Anyone in this area should 100% hit up this spot... even if it's just to smell the incredible smell of baking in the morning.
