Guantanamera Cafe & Lounge Review - Little Havana - Miami - The Infatuation

"It looks like a tourist trap—we know. And its location on Calle Ocho probably lends itself to some sightseers. But don’t let the neon signs, giant cigar columns and Cuban chucherias deter you from coming here if you're in the mood to smoke. They have a decent selection of cigars in their small humidor, a coffee counter, a liquor bar, cocktails, and some appetizers. They even have live music on the weekends and karaoke on Thursday nights. The cigar lounge is lit with blue and red lighting—the color of the Cuban flag—and it’s filled with all kinds of nick-nacks and photos of old-timey Hollywood stars. There’s also outdoor seating, where the bar opens up to the sidewalk. And despite the scene, they take their cigars seriously enough to roll their own." - Virginia Otazo

Amazing place had a great time. Great experience. The cigars were amazing. Had fun love the live music. I had fun. I loved The Latin music The manager Michael helped me out. He was great explained to us all about the Cigars showed us a great time. He was a great host.

The waitresses deserve all the compliments, they were extremely kind and warm. The food was excellent, and so were the drinks. The live music was amazing, and the atmosphere was really nice too, with great lighting and decor. I think the only issue was possibly the person in charge of the place. I was sitting with my friend when what seemed to be the owner started yelling uncontrollably at everyone around, all the staff. I’m not sure what the reason was, it wasn’t clear, but the fact that it happened right in front of everyone had a big, negative impact. You could feel the discomfort not only among the employees, but also the other customers.

Google
If you like really loud music then this is the place. They have a mix of live band and DJ playing retros. Live band was good playing some high energy music. DJ played my favorite Boney M remixes. Service was slightly slow. Had the best Miami mule here. Well made. The place is not so big and can get noisey.

A true gem recently shared with me by well-traveled friend. All the greatness of Little Havana without the “tourist” feel but not lacking authenticity one bit. If in Miami it’s worth the trip to little Havana - it’s a must stop by whether intentions to explore Little Havana or not (which anyone who hasn’t should and anyone who has always comes back). Skip the tourist attractions and come for great service, cigars, drinks, company, music (live or otherwise), The atmosphere is incredible; from the art on the wall to the floor to humidor and bar. My new favorite “cigar bar” and I’ve been to many! Bartenders and service staff are passionate, experienced, personable but fun, so much fun all while maintaining professional, talented and genuine service. Highly recommend! Enjoy!

Great outdoor patio area to sit and hangout in Little Havana. Perfect location to smoke a cigar, enjoy a few drinks, and do some people watching. Live music is good, but can be a bit too loud. Unfortunately the mojito is not nearly as good as advertised.

Google
We did not eat therefore we can only assume it would be just as amazing as the cigars, drink and staff. Great music and atmosphere to come smoke some great cigars and relax.

Google
What a fantastic spot to unwind! Grab a seat on the porch, soak in the lively atmosphere of famous Calle 8, and watch the world go by while enjoying the rhythm of authentic Cuban música. Pair the experience with a hand-rolled cigar and a refreshing cold drink, and let the vibrant Latino spirit take over. A must-visit for anyone looking to embrace the true essence of Little Havana!

Yelp
My husband and I popped in to Guantanamera and had a cigar, an espresso martini, and a little bit of whiskey. The vibe was quirky and comfortable, the service was warm and prompt, and the drinks were delish. There was also live Cuban music, which was lovely. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
This Cuban spot is fire! The food was delicious, every bite was full of flavor. Plus, the people there are super nice--felt right at home. Definitely a new favorite!

Yelp
Place has nice live music , freshly made cigars and Drinks. Only think I didn't like it was that the guys uses his saliva to seal the cigars and the mojitos are bit sour .. you better off with a flavor one .. also wish the had traditional or more options to light up a cigar than just a torch lighter . But to be a Cuban place it hit the spot to enjoy the afternoon in Calle 8
google avatar

Yelp
Hands down the best mojitos I've ever had. So delicious, refreshing and just a little sweet. Service was amazing. We didn't have to wait at all. They also had a nice selection of beer. The drinks aren't inexpensive anywhere on Calle 8, but the vibes and the people are worth the extra money.

Yelp
Oh my gosh! The best mojito in Little Havana - made by Joel. Such a friendly out going guy! Sitting here smelling the cigars - I must be in Cuba

Yelp
i was only in miami for 4 days, but came here twice. I really enjoyed the cigar lounge, where you can sit inside or outside and enjoy a nice cigar. They have a decent selection of store rolled cigars, and both times i got a torpedo style cigar, one connecticut cigar and one darker. Both were fantastic smokes. they also have a coffee bar and an alcohol bar. To be completely honest, the mixed drinks are something you can skip, but definitely get a cuban coffee to go with your cigar. its a perfect combo. when i went both times, it was in the afternoon so they didn't play music, but i saw a small stage where i assume a live band or singer will play during the night. I can definitely see this place getting crowded at night time. They have a few sofa spread around the room, and plenty of tables which seat 3 to 4 people.

Yelp
This is not just a cigar shop. This is an immersive experience into what the heart of Havana is except on Calle ocho with live music, dancing, and excellent service from staff. We bought some handmade cigars from there and they didn't disappoint. The value from the authenticity of everything and everyone was amazing at a reasonable price.

Yelp
We had the opportunity to check out Guantamera. This place is a gem! The staff was absolutely amazing and welcoming. We were able to get front row seating to the live band which was playing traditional Cuban salsa. The drinks were on point. The waitress ensured we were taking care of and she was truly amazing! They have a great menu with coffee, drinks and cigars. If you're looking for an amazing vibes, fantastic live music and phenomenal drinks. Check them out.

Yelp
Where else can you find live music playing, great ambiente and drinks, and a room full of people who love Salsa and Cigars. We stumbled upon this place on our walk thru Little Havana. It was truly the music that was playing that drew us to this place. We must have gotten there at a great time (a little before noon on a Saturday) as we got the last couch seating area with small table, right in front of the best 2 man performance, singer and a guitar player. They had me the moment they began playing/singing Marc Anthony. The bartender was great and put me on game with champagne mojto. If you are a champagne girl like me and enjoy the bubbles, you will def enjoy the drink. We also tried their espresso, which was served at a great temp and had the perfect amount of thickness. Staff was attentive and friendly. The singer even sang happy birthday to me while the waitress brought me a sparkler candle to hold! It's truly the little unexpected things that make you feel special in a new place. There was a space for dancing, cigar holders on each of the tables. There were a few people smoking but not as many as I would anticipate there would be at night. If you like music or cigars, this is the place. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

Yelp
One person from our group really wanted to try cigars so I had to fulfill my commitment by picking this cigar shop (established in 1997) due to (1) convenient location as the shop is located in the heart of Little Havana so it was easier for me to put together an itinerary, (2) this shop have both open-air outdoor area as well as indoor cafe/lounge area to smoke cigars, and (3) servers will light cigars for customers upon request so no need to buy a lighter. [Parking]: There's a free outdoor parking lot (via PayByPhone app location 45350) behind Maximo Gomez Domino Park (901 SW 15th Ave, Miami, FL 33135) until 6 PM directly across from the shop. [How to order & service]: Our group first asked the staff on buying cigars and the staff led us to a small cigar shop hidden inside of the cafe/lounge. One of the staff was friendly and answered our questions on different cigars (ideally lighter color cigars for the 1st timer & darker color cigars for stronger flavors). After our party made a purchase, we picked an outdoor table and the staff lite our cigars. Apparently customers can sign up for the rewards program and I couldn't believe it was Fivestars Loyalty Program (plenty of boba or bubble tea shops in Los Angeles use the exact same loyalty program). I didn't buy any cigars for myself and skipped the whole cigar experience entirely, but I did buy a cigar for a friend and secretly told one of the staff that we are here to celebrate a special occasion at the cigar shop (I also tipped the staff). Within 10 minutes the staff got all of my friends free Taqueria shots. Please note that 18% service charge will be added to all checks. [Ambiente]: Our party came here in late afternoon right after our Little Havana Food & Cultural Tour so the cafe/lounge was pretty quiet. Despite my friends had their cigars outdoor with multiple fans blowing fume, it was difficult for myself to avoid partial secondhand smoke even though I sat a table away. [Drink menu]: They offer various Cuban coffee such as cafe con leche, cortadito (espresso and milk cream), etc. & Happy Hours menu is available from 10:30 AM to 6 PM with cocktails, whiskey, bourbon (Bulleit Bourbon), house vodka, after dinner spirits, rum, gin (Bombay Sapphire), tequila (Patron Silver), beer, wine by the glass, and shots. Amazing service (can't emphasize enough), easy parking, and comfortable outdoor smoking area - at the end everyone who had cigars in our group appeared to have a very good time so I felt pretty good about picking this spot.

Yelp
Guantanamera Cigars is a great place if one wants to party with friends, smoke and drink with the music going. If you know a lot about cigars, you may find the experience a bit overdone and set for tourists, leaving you in search of a larger humidor selection and a relaxed smoke. I ordered their famous mojito and it was a good mojito. I had what the guy said was one of their house handrolls on the mild to medium profile. The manner by which he was explaining the blends and wrappers indicates they presume you do not know much as a tourist and you are there to get handrolls from a place that looks quite authentically Cuban. I smoked outside on their porch or portico. People are passing by, some stop to come in, attracted by the music and a guy who holds a microphone singing with the music. Some stop to take pictures. In any case, this is a great spot to watch the scene pass and walk by. However, it is not a relaxing smoke. This is a business and they make it their business to pull in as many people as they can, which they do very well. So when the check arrived for my one mojito and a bottle of water, they had some kind of sandwich on the bill. Glad I checked it before putting my card in the handheld terminal. The waitress corrected the error and then I noticed they already put a service charge on the bill and asked for a tip on top. I did not tip. The tip and fee culture is just too much and the consumer needs to object with their choices. I imagine dozens of people tip on top of the service charge daily at Guantanamera after having a great time and several mojitos. I can see Guantanamera as a more relaxed time with friends on an afternoon with the music powered down in bolero style or a great time with friends in the evening with it on full blast. However, the experienced cigar person may want to look elsewhere for a more personal and relaxed experience.

Yelp
If you're looking for a spot to chill, get a drink, and smoke a cigar this is it! They have a cool room where the worker shows you all their cigars (Only wrapping is from Cuba, illegal to import Cuban cigars over). They have lots of chairs for you to sit, a full bar to grab a cocktail, try a cigar, and listen to live music.

Yelp
We decided to stop by fir a drink on a Thursday, they have a great DJ, music is amazing, couldn't stop dancing
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
A fun little cigar lounge where you can dance, relax, drink, and smoke a cigar. Service wasn't the most hospitable, but that seems pretty typical from what I've gathered in Miami. Easy to find as you can follow the music and a salsa dancer usually graces the outside of Guantanamera. Cigars can be chosen inside a dark room to keep the humidity out, and lit by a waitress outside once ready.

Yelp
Great place for Cigars. All are house made! Host is amazing 10/10. Reccomend if you in the area.

Yelp
Was driving down 8th street and decided to stop for a drink. There was a lady dancing in a carnival attire at the front. We walked to the hostess and she sat us at a table outside because all the tables inside were taken. There was a 2 drink minimum. I think it was very reasonable for a Saturday night. She brought us the menus, there was a food menu, a drink menu with different cocktails and a cigar menu. They also have a hookah service with a couple of different flavors. We got our drinks and our hookah and sat to enjoy the music, they had a live band and a place to land. The drinks were really good and the prices were good. They served them strong unlike most places in wynwood, Brickell and South beach that serve water down drinks so you drink them fast and order more. I think this place was worth coming. I will definitely be back

Yelp
Went here last weekend with a very nice group of people and had a blast. The atmosphere gave off the old Havana feeling with an amazing live band. The servers were also amazing and were on top of everything. They also have a cigar room where you have a good selection. Very fun place and highly recommended to spice up a weekend.

Yelp
Wow. what can I say. I have been here so much. I even know the front door guy. I was here 2 hrs about and had jeans and flip flops on. Then they changed the rules and I could not enter. I had been inside, outside all night. I asked for the manager. he didn't care. they don't care they lost my business. it's a tourist place. My and my friend had been at this place for an hour or so spending money, then a young punk manager that don't carer runs us off for no reason, wow! I guess my hundred bucks was good inside and outside till a point. post a sign jackasses. dont make rules up as you go ! please we need to hold places accountable !

Yelp
Great service! Walked in because a few in our group wanted to get some Cuban cigars to enjoy in South Beach. This place is a hidden gem. It is a cigar lounge, however a few locals mentioned that this spot lights up at night. Lots of great dancing at night - whether you are a salsa fan, bachata lover, or trying out Meringue. Excited to see this super cool spot at a different time of day, and see all the fantastic folks who work here and make it so special.

Yelp
Best mojito and Cuba libre EVER. The band is absolutely amazing!!!! They know how to handle the crowd. The DJ soooo good!!!! The ONE bad thing is the tall bald guy at the door, he's rude, that ruined the experience for us.

Yelp
Best prices and great service. My go to place. Never disappoints and look for their specials. Delivered straight to your mailbox at a great price.

Yelp
Love this place fr. Pretty bartenders. Good cigars. What else you want? 85 characters is a lot why should I say more?

Yelp
This place is such a gem and in my opinion a must-go when in Little Havana. That's a big statement seeing as how there are so many great places there on Calle Ocho. But this place has it all and is a great experience. My wife and I wandered in after having an amazing lunch down the street. First drawn in by the guys hand rolling cigars right outside the shop, and when the live band started up, we had to stop. What was meant to be just a short pit stop for a drink and catching a song or two, ended up being a couple hours. The mojitos were awesome. The band was wonderful! And the service was amazing. The manager treated us like old friends he hadn't seen in too long. Out of all the great places to eat, shop and party, this place stood out from the entire week. Loved it and will be bringing us back to Miami soon!

Kylee M.

Yelp
Loves this place! Ramses and sandy were amazing! Very hospitable and kind. They showed up great recommendation for little Havana and had great hospitality. If you want a genuine and kind connection come here. This place was amazing.

Yelp
The best place in little Havana to purchase cigars and enjoy a refreshing drink. The staff is absolutely amazing, friendly, patient and very helpful in explaining the various cigars. You can tell they care about giving their clientele a custom experience. Make sure you go back later in the evening to grab a table and enjoy a live Cuban band.
google avatar

Yelp
As we enter Little Havana on Christmas Day we had little hope of anything being open at all that day. My cigar shop down the street was closed but right across the way we happen upon this place. Cuban coffee poured immediately for on the house then we get into some major cigars. The proprietor was larger than life nothing but personality. After sitting down for rum we met local restaurant owners who bought us a few drinks. We quickly reciprocated and had a wonderful time. First Christmas in Miami one we will never forget anytime soon.

Yelp
Great place, nice atmosphere and service!. Really enjoyed our time here, the cocktails were delicios and the live music!

ka s.

Yelp
We enjoyed some Cuban live music from this energetic Quarteto Completo. The DJ was also great! He started playing Brazilian songs after learning that we were Brazilians. We had mojitos and beers. Price? I don't know! We made friends with another family and they paid our bill! OMG! Cool place. They also sell cigars. No clue about that since I don't smoke. I recommend coming here to hang out: inside or outside.

Laines P.

Yelp

Yelp
Guantanemera is a on my list of stops when I visit Miami. The cigar selection is impressive. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Ramses is so knowledgeable and provides stellar customer service. Wonderful experience always.

Yelp
This place is an amazing slice of heaven in Miami. Live music, delicious mojitos, great cigars and awesome staff! We found this little gem while driving downtown Miami after getting off the airplane - needless to say we had a great experience and are already figuring out how we can come back again multiple times before we leave!

Yelp
Came here to be engulfed in the Cuban traditions of rolling cigars and watch a Master do his artwork. Would recommend highly for anyone to but a cigar from here after watching Pedro and just talking to him was inspirational. He rolls 100 cigars a day!!!100 really! Amazing and something he's been doing for 30 yrs. watching him was mesmerizing and how he explained the process too! So learn a thing or two and visit Guantanamera Cigars and visit Pedro!!

Yelp
I am a on the down low cigar lover. I love the taste and aroma. So on this trip to Miami, I was over joyed to have the opportunity to visit a cigar shop. There is no private parking lot, but there is street parking, not free, must pay via an app, there are signs on the street to direct you to correct site for payment. Sitting right outside the shop there is a young man rolling cigars, love it. You enter into a softly lit open space with a well stocked bar, bistro tables and chairs and two humidor/cigar rooms. I loved the old world decor. The patrons sitting with fingers wrapped around a cigar, drink on the table in front of them, soft music wafting through speakers, engrossed in conversation and laughter. My kind of place. (I def need to visit Havana one day) I was approached by a wonderful woman, she introduced herself as part of the staff and asked if she could show us around. She walked us into a humidor room filled with cigars of all kinds, tastes and price ranges. I asked for a mild cigar with good flavor, affordable. She handed me one, stating it was one of her favorites. I bought it. I cannot wait to use it. The service was great. The characters/people in shop, were entertaining and a joy. Next time I am in Miami, will drop in again.

Yelp
Such fun place and the place has a beautiful bar in Cuban style. Lots of amazing art and culture . There was a fun band where people can dance as well me and my buddy had so so much fun at tbis place drinking Cuban coffe she had a corona and watching a live fabulous band . If in little Havana please go go to this spot good time guaranteed and amazing cultural experience of music and there are plenty of Cuban cigars too.

Yelp
This was a great spot with awesome live music. We smoked cigars that had been rolled that week and drank amazing strawberry mojitos. The prices were great. It's a must go to spot!
google avatar

Joyti K.

Yelp
Simple amazing music. The wait staff was so kind and lovely What a lovely evening!! We didn't eat there but had some great drinks!
google avatar

Rami S.

Yelp
Place is awesome. Uber driver recommended it as a favorite in Little Havana. Got Cuban sandwiches and multiple mojitos and Cuba libre's. I felt the drinks here were stronger than other places which is a huge plus. Staff super friendly. We bought a cigar and one of the staff helped light it up. Live music. Old guy with the maracas was getting after it! Please give these guys your business!!

Peter A.

Yelp
If you are a real cigar person. Go. To. This. Spot. If you're a maduro guy or girl. Grab a maduro anniversary Robusto. It will not disappoint. It flavorful and dark coco and leather with sweetness on the back end. They are GREAT. They offer also pressed and torpedo 54 ring gauge. They smoke phenomenal. After you smoke one there. Grab a drink. Relax and buy a box or 2 off their website. Shake hands with the roller. He's the best dude ever. Do not pass this place up.

Yelp
My wife loves cigars. She enjoys not only the cigars but the whole experience, taste and attitude of a cigar. So she was excited that as we parked to go to another business, this cigar shop that was also on her list was right in front. There is no private parking, so street, pay to park it is. Sitting right outside the shop there is a young man rolling cigars. You enter into a softly lit open space with a well stocked bar, bistro tables and chairs and two humidor/cigar rooms, nice old world decor. We were shown to a humidor/cigar room with a great variety of cigars from Dominican to Cubans with all range of prices, from $12 to $35 for a single cigar. The service was great, the ambiance perfect and my wife was happy with the experience and her purchase.
google avatar

Justin M.

Yelp
Hand rolled cigars in the mix, as well as a small but well stocked bar with some things to crunch and munch too. Really, what more could one want?
google avatar

Melanie P.

Yelp
I'm pretty sure that we were supposed to order cigars here, but you don't have to. I had two mojitos that were both delicious and fun to watch being made (see picture below). There is Scarface memorabilia everywhere. One of the things that I love most about the bars in Little Havana is that you feel like you are in your (very cool) alcohol drinking grandparents house. I mean this in the best way possible. This place has that special feel to it. After the second mojito, I was ready to move in.
google avatar

Jason B.

Yelp
Good place to kick back with a stogie and watch some Cuban music videos culled by a DJ.
google avatar

Ricky F.

Yelp
This spot was friendly , provided parking , and had a great tribute to the movie scarface! The cigars were smooth and the bar was open as well.
google avatar

Sniper D.

Yelp
I've been visiting this place last couple years.... I went tonight and they said no to credit card to purchase cigars now.. cash only. I've always paid the store brand cigars with credit card. Well... they lost my loyalty and my endorsement to provide more foreign customers to this place. Place is a shit box and staff was rude. I had a good rapport with the owner but no worries- I'll spread the word to others to avoid this place at all costs.
google avatar

Reviews O.

Yelp
Excellent service, atmosphere, and cigars. Thank you see you guys soon! I miss the Weekend live music.
google avatar

Samantha M.

Yelp
Ok high pressure sales, so basically tried to sell a box of cigars for $285 then promised oof we bought that we would get 3 real Cubans. I didn't like it, it felt like a car salesman. I get the need to make the sale but the approach. It's also a small room with cigars so you can't really browse. I left and walk down the street and bought from little cigar factory.
google avatar

Karen R.

Yelp
Range of cigars. Drink menu. Outside patio. Plenty of tables outside to sit. Live music. Fast friendly service.
google avatar

Alicia D.

Yelp
Very nice atmosphere, great live music and good music Cuban flavor, cigars! Andreína our waiter was awesome.... I RECOMMEND GUANTANEMERA
google avatar

Ellen L.

Yelp
This is by far the best place to soak up Cuban culture. During the day they roll their own cigars here. At night this place turns into a night club with live music. Buy a cigar and drink a cup of coffee or sip some rum and talk politics or dance salsa with the locals
