As a huge fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy movies, I was a bit nervous about how they'd adapt the story for a ride, but WOW, did they nail it! I rode this thing three times in a row and I'd do it again right now if I could. The ride perfectly captures the chaotic, hilarious energy of the movies. From the moment you enter, you're immersed in the world of the Guardians. The Collector's fortress is awesome, and you know he's up to no good, which sets the stage perfectly. But the real star of the show is the "raccoon" himself, Rocket. He's just as funny and smart as he is on screen, and he absolutely steals the show. The thrill of the ride itself is incredible, with the drops perfectly timed to the classic rock soundtrack. It's a high-energy, action-packed adventure that left me smiling from ear to ear. If you love the Guardians, you have to experience this. It's an absolute blast!

Google
Super fun ride. Always packed. Everyone loves it. The randomness of the ride is probably the best part. Each ride feels a bit different based on what the ride computer chooses to do. The elevator is actually lifted and pulled back to the ground faster than gravity would drop it to give a faster drop feeling which is awesome. The ride is super smooth and doesn't cause any back or leg issues. Teh sense of weightlessness is one of the best you'll find at Disney's California Adventure park. Best times to get in Standby Queue are either at rope drop (8AM-ish) or an hour or so later (9AM-10AM). That time window will only cause a 30-45-minute Standby Queue. I definitely recommend this ride as it's one of the best and most popular at DCA!

Google
It’s great, however I recommend the lightning lane pass. Sometimes the line can get up to 2 hours, so if you’re not used to waiting for long periods then get it. About the ride itself, it’s pretty cool, it has big drops at unexpected times and around the end of the ride, they open like a window and you can see outside, so if you’re scared of heights, this may not be a fun time. It’s themed around Guardians of the Galaxy, as the name suggests. 5 stars

Google
Lines are always long but this ride doesn’t disappoint. There are six different songs so you never know which one you will get. If your seat belt isn’t tight you will definitely lift up from the seat. Tons of fun and worth the wait. Ten out of ten totally recommend.

Google
The money they spent redoing this ride was well spent , they paid attention to very attention to detail . The outside of the building and the que was themed so well they didn’t miss a spot . The ride was super fun and thrilling 10/10

Google
We got on a total of 3 rides the whole day, so crowded. Spent $1,320 for 2 day park hopper passes for the four of us and never could get on the Guardians ride. At least the line at the giftshop was short so I could buy my kids some $60 hoodies. We wasted over an hour in the the Radiator Springs Racers line only to have it breakdown without getting to ride, so we went to the webslingers ride and guess what happened? Waited over an hour and the ride brokedown. I won't be back.

Google
My favorite ride at DCA is a not miss if you’re into thrill rides. It’s a drop down ride with random versions of rock songs to listen to. Don’t forget to smile when doors open up when you’re atop for epic pics!

Google
Ooooohhhhh yeeeaaaaahhhhh!! This thrilling ride is high excitement and high anxiety!! Guardians of the Galaxy is one of the best rides in Disney California Adventure. It's loud, it's intense, it's not for the faint of heart!

Yelp
This ride is a Must try in the California Adventure! So fun! Wait is usually insanely long so it is recommended to use the lightening lane pass for this ride. One thing to note is that please hold on to your items tight, real tight. We didn't and a bag got dropped to the bottom of the ride!! We were advised to report to the lost and found, and found that we can file a report electronically right there. The report requests details of the lost items. The more information you can provide the better. Before we left the park, we paid a visit to the lost and found facility. Nothing turned up but staff were very helpful. They checked in the back for us to confirm. Now that the report is filed and lodged, all we can do is wait. About a week, we got a call from the park informing us that the lost items has been retrieved and we should get an email shortly and we can direct how we want the item back. We can either have them shipped free of charge or pick up. In about another week, the package arrived - nicely folded and wrapped up. The process is so smooth. We are grateful to get the lost items back!

Yelp
One of my favorite rides in Disney California adventure. The whole ride feels pretty immersive going into it (without giving away too much, there's some early interaction with familiar characters and the design of the place is really great) and when you finally sit down, there are fun visuals and music. The ride is just a great experience overall. My recommendation is just let the ride take you and let your body kind of go limp when it's going up and down and lean into it and have lots of fun along with everyone else. There is a picture moment at the top or at least when you feel like you're heading to the top so be ready. On the exit, you get to walk through a fun shop where there are a lot of themed items to purchase. My favorite purchase there was the magnet buddy on the shoulder with baby Groot.

Yelp
One of the BEST thrill rides at California Adventure, like fully for adults and fully thrill. Would strongly recommend lining up for this if the wait time is anything less than 45 minutes, because it cane get really long sometimes. Pros: - EXTREMELY THRILLING - lots of up and down and you almost feel like you're floating in the air and the seat belt is holding you down - fun photo op at the top before you drop again - Really well done interior decorations throughout the whole line - which makes the time pass faster. Really great visuals from the world of guardians of the galaxy. - Fun storyline - the pre-ride "elevator" ride has changed - they don't have a fake rocket crawling out anymore and the video is shorter, but it's still a fun concept. Cons: - can be a long line wait since it's so popular - strongly recommend checking the app - there's very short handlebars between each seat that you can hold on to, but sometimes if you're sitting next to a stranger it can be awkward lol I usually recommend someone take the front and someone take the back. Or I recommend sitting on the end. Another tip I always feel better when I put my leg through the straps of my backpack so I don't lose my things haha. Overall, 10/10 ride, beautifully done and visually stunning on the outside and inside. Thrillingggggg

Yelp
This is one of my favorite rides when at DCA. Today was our first time going on the ride early since we were staying at a Disney hotel. From waiting in line to finishing the ride, it was less than 30 minutes total. Nice way to start the day!

Yelp
This is a fun ride at Disney California Adventure that incorporates the actors from the "Guardians of the Galaxy" movies. It used to be themed after the "Twilight Zone" show until they renovated it. It was also absorbed into the Avengers Campus themed land when it opened in 2021. I am usually not a fan of free fall rides, but this one is a lot of fun. On the ride, you board a gantry lift with several people. The lift goes up and down and has sudden drops that take you out of your seat. The photo they take of everyone while in free fall is always a fun picture to look at after the ride is over. At first I was bummed that Disney removed the "Twilight Zone" theme from this ride. Hearing Rod Sterling's voice always added to the creepiness of the ride. Plus I have always loved that show. But they did a nice job with the Guardians of the Galaxy makeover and scenes. James Gunn directed all of the scenes himself. The music you hear is inspired by the soundtrack from the Guardians of the Galaxy movies.

Yelp
This is absolutely our favorite ride at Disneyland! It is thrilling, super fun, and the theming is great on it. It used to be the Tower of Terror here, but was re-themed for Guardians of the Galaxy around the time of the second GOTG film. And it's a lot more exciting than Tower of Terror ever was (for me anyway). Tower of Terror really had one big drop (and a few small ones), while Mission Breakout has TONS of ups and downs that keep you entertained and keeps your heart pumping the entire time. The line for this one is pretty long when we've ridden it, but it's so worth it when you get to the front. You see a statue of The Collector and a few other themed things in the line while you make your way through. You are greeted by Rocket Raccoon, who gives you a mission, which I think may be different (videos) for different ride groups, so you may get something different each time you ride. Speaking of that, there are also a few different songs that can play (very similar to Peter Quill's playlist in the first GOTG movie), and all are super fun to hear while you're flying up and down. Our favorites are Hit Me with Your Best Shot (Pat Benatar) and I Want You Back (Jackson Five). You're strapped in with just a little seat belt, but that makes it all the more fun when you fly out of your seat a bit on the drops. There are also little metal handle bars between each person, and when I ride I am hogging both of those and holding on for dear life. If you'll be at Disneyland and planning your route/rides you want to hit, definitely add Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout to your list!

Yelp
Besides the long wait, Guardians of the Galaxy is my favorite ride at Disney California Adventure. There's so many details to love about the ride once you get inside the building. I love the fast up and down (anti-gravity) feeling of the ride and the storyline is good too. I never went on Tower of Terror, but definitely love Mission: Breakout and the Halloween version. The only downsides are the long wait and the frequent break-downs. One time during the holidays, we waited for over 60 minutes and right when we were about to get on (we were next), the ride broke down, so the staff cleared everyone from the building. That was disappointing since we didn't get as much of a sorry for the long wait and you can come back in front when the ride re-opens. Overall, love the ride though. Xie Xie!!

Yelp
Make this ride a priority if, and only if: 1. You enjoy dropping down a tower and experiencing zero gravity, and laughing with your arms raised high while everyone around you cowers and screams in terror. 2. You are a huge fan of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and have watched each of the three movies multiple times. 3. Have an appreciation for the minutiae in the movies and understand all the nuances and details in the story - like the talking Russian dog. I checked all three of the above requirements, so this was one of my favorite experiences at California Adventures.

Yelp
Like thrill rides? Take some time and hop on Guardians of the Galaxy! Formerly The Hollywood Tower of Terror, this ride takes you into the Guardians movie..., sort of. After some pre-ride hype, and typically a fairly long line to get into the ride, you'll be guided to an elevator which takes you up approximately 10 stories high at what seems to be 50 miles an hour. Doors will open up so you can actually see how high you are, overlooking Disney's California Adventure Park. Then.... You drop, freefalling a portion of the tower. Only to return back to the doors. Look out again and free fall again! Yes, you will feel you left your stomach at the top of the tower.... Helpful hint, follow directions and secure all belongings in a secure pocket or bag and hold on tight! Keep on Yelp'n!

Yelp
No lines at all 25-35 minutes tops at all the Disney rides! What a blast with my daughters and granddaughters!!! Now I know why they call it the happiest place on earth!! All cast members are top notch..professional and so very nice...very unexpected experience on the ride...enough said..you gotta go and you gotta try it!!
google avatar

Mylesha D.

Yelp
I was super bummed when they took out the Tower of Terror from the park and replaced it with Guardians. It was one of my all-time favorite rides, even though it freaked me out every single time. The drop and the creepy vibe were just the best. Now, with Guardians, we've got a totally different adventure that zooms us through space. It doesn't have that spooky feel like Tower of Terror, but I still think it's a blast. I really enjoy the cool story and the awesome music that plays during the ride. Even though it's a different experience, I still get that rush, just in a fresh and fun way that keeps me wanting to ride again and again.

Yelp
Get ready for a bumpy review! I had to give myself 24 hrs to unclinch my entire body before I can bring myself to write this review. Let's start by saying that I do like roller coasters/rides and I generally don't have any problems with them. The ride and the theme was expertly pulled off. Everything was very well planned out to give you the best experience possible. Which I truly appreciate. The bench like seating always works well and has the benefit of giving you the intended experience. Here is where it gets bumpy. Those damn drops! I swear each, and every one of them got worse! I was so focused on clenching my entire body that my eyes were closed and I didn't see a thing. I was holding on for dear life. While I knew I was gonna be safe and I was gonna be fine. I also thought I was about to die. Now you might be asking yourself would I ever do this again? The answer is absolutely yes! I might have been scared out of my mind, clenched and sore all over. Yet, it was definitely the highlight of my girls day at California Adventure. So if you happen to see someone not speaking, eyes closed and holding on for dear life, just know odds are they are having a magical time.

Yelp
Guardians of the Galaxy is a must when visiting Disney California Adventure Park. I survived! Wow, this ride is something else. Its worth it to try it a least once. I was a bit apprehensive, not knowing what it would be like. However, it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be it was actually entertaining and fun. The line wasn't too bad and it can get really long for this ride in particular. After zigzagging through the chained area, we made it inside. Once you get inside there is a lot of memorabilia from the movie, The Guardians of the Galaxy. It was fun to see props from the movie. There is also a screen showing the characters and you zigzag through the maze to enter the double doors. Head up the stairs and prepare to be lifted and dropped white catching snippets of the Guardians. Would definitely recommend this attraction when visiting the park. I saw a wide rage of ages of riders. both young and mature, lol.

Yelp
I loooove this ride. Not only is Guardians one of my favorite Marvel series of Movies but this ride is better than going to a chiropractor. About 9 years ago, I had an accident which resulted in painful compression of my vertebrae. The drops on this ride help to temporarily alleviate the pain due to the brief moments of weightlessness. When you have chronic pain, you'll take what you can get (as long as it's not illegal or addicting). So, hangin' with Rocket and the crew and getting a little respite from the pain is a pretty sweet deal.
google avatar

Toshi I.

Yelp
Of course the lines are long for a short ride! The wait itself in itself is aesthetically imteresting, though. Without spoiling it, I can just say be sure your seat belt is on securely. Seriously! Note: If you have lower back issues, the seats are not cushy for your tushy at all.
google avatar

Liz J.

Yelp
I honestly miss Tower of Terror. I can appreciate the detail inside Guardians is amazing, but the ride itself isn't as good as it was previously. There are more drops but less distance as it's constantly moving. I used to love the suspense of Tower of Terror.
google avatar

Angel R.

Yelp
Absolute favorite ride at Disney California Adventure. So thrilling and I am so there for how immersive the queue is. Entering through The Collector's headquarters as Rocket Raccoon is breaking in to save his friends is so exciting. The music is so fun during the ride, the "scanning" of your hands to break in so it seems like you're helping Rocket is adorable. Just. Wow. A+. And the dance off battles outside with the characters is fun for everyone.
google avatar

Michelle T.

Yelp
The Guardians of the Galaxy ride is truly surprising! To hop on, you need to be at least 40 inches tall, and be prepared for significant drops, darkness, and loud sounds. Handlebars and a seatbelt ensure safety, and they capture your moment with a photo, free on PhotoPass. As Rocket escapes, he commandeers a gantry lift, recruiting you for a daring mission to rescue his fellow Guardians. From the top to the bottom of the fortress, be ready for intergalactic mayhem accompanied by Star-Lord's mixtapes. With stunning special effects, beloved characters, movie-inspired music, and six unique storylines, this adventure delivers all the big thrills!
google avatar

Arnel D.

Yelp
The ride is fun if you've never been on it before. Such a surprise compared to the former Tower of Terror. Do be prepared to get wiggled and jiggled violently though. I don't suggest it if you're easily sick due to motion. I do miss the Twilight Zone creepiness though. Be sure to keep your eyes open there are only a few picture opportunities during the ride and you don't want to have to ride it again just to get the perfect pic lol. If you notice the ride is less than an hour, definitely get in line because it is a popular attraction. If it's over an hour, I'd skip it. Thank me later.
google avatar

Deanne R.

Yelp
Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! is an accelerated drop tower dark ride attraction... like an elevator up and down... you just don't know which ones next....up or down lol. Long lines but worth it.
google avatar

Ash K.

Yelp
Hats off to anyone who can stomach this ride! All I know is, I was totally not prepared for what was to come. Now I understand why my daughter kept laughing before we got on; this ride is a recurring nightmare of mine come true! Imagine being in an elevator 13 stories up, then without warning the cables snap. It's terrifying! The force with which you're pulled down, then catapulted back up is so great that I couldn't tell whether I was comin' or goin'! Between the up and down, wild music, and trying to grab onto something to ease the impact of my arse landing on those hard seats, I couldn't gather myself long enough to concentrate on what Rocket Raccoon was saying! When it was over I was so nauseous and dizzy that I just about puked. I found out afterwards that it was formerly Tower or Terror. If I'd done the research prior, I definitely would not have gotten on. It was mad fun though!
google avatar

Arlene M.

Yelp
I'm not familiar with the Guardians of the Galaxy but I must say ride this only if you are free of any physical problem that they list. This ride is vicious! You are on a rescue mission to save Rocket's fellow guardians. You are assigned seating by rows and must wait for your lift to come to ground level. You are strongly advised to secure everything and believe me they mean it. I didn't even have my glasses on and really couldn't even tell when they took our picture. Time after time our elevator car dropped only to be hoisted back to the top and dropped again. I'm not sure how many free fall drops we experienced but it was quite a number of them. The special effects and videos are very immersive and put you into the heart of the action. Since there are 6 different storylines to experience no two rides are exactly the same. However in the end the rescue mission proves to be a success. The Hollywood studios counterpart: Equal- The Tower of Terror still is one of the best rides in that park. Having its roots in the Twilight Zone you are involved in a mystery of disappearing guests and you end up in several free fall drops let alone when your elevator car moves forward on the 13th floor. Still both rides are equally enjoyable in their own way. Located in Advenger's Campus in CA Adventure.
google avatar

Dee H.

Yelp
What an insane ride! Similar to the tower of terror but more drops and unexpected surprises. Avoid if you have back or neck problems. Genie+ was worth it.
google avatar

Joann V.

Yelp
3 stars I wanted to go on this ride b/c I'm a fan of Guardians, but as soon as I got on it and the ride went up, I regretted it. I don't mind the drops as much as I mind the pressure of going up. The pressure and the bouncing is truly nauseating. Definitely not for people with vertigo or a weak stomach. If you still insist on trying the ride knowing it's more uncomfortable than scary, then I suggest grabbing onto the handlebars beside you. But I will never ride this ride again.
google avatar

Jo W.

Yelp
Although I was skeptical when Tower of Terror closed down, and doubted that I would love the Guardians of the Galaxy rebranding of the ride, to my surprise, I thoroughly enjoyed it despite not being a huge Guardians of the Galaxy nor Marvels fan. Nothing against the franchise, I'm just not a big superhero person. While the structure and the mechanisms of the ride are the same, the story is completely different. I do love the Rocket animatronic interacting with the audience and telling riders his plan to use their help to free his friends. The 80s rock songs that accompany each different scene that could play out are definitely rad! The first time I went on, "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" played. This ride is so popular, the use of Genie Plus is limited to only one person per day (believe me, I tried). During Halloween Season, the Monsters After Dark special is a must to go on! It's a bit different, more spooky, and the soundtrack is composed by Tyler Bates (who also composed the soundtrack for the John Wick movies). That one gets its own Genie Plus pass separate from the regular daytime year-round ride. And of course, the drop is definitely a big draw for this ride. I know people who refuse to go on this ride because they cannot tolerate drops. Don't eat anything shortly before this ride! The nice thing is that there are handlebars that you can grab onto during the drops. Though one time I went on this ride, the gal sitting next to me grabbed my arm! After the ride was over, she profusely apologized grabbing me, which I just laughed off. If you can stomach the drop, this is a must-ride!

Yelp
#26 Review for 2024 # 447 All-time Review Overall 5 Stars***** ***A Galactic Adventure!*** I am in love with this incredible adrenalin rush, and if you're ready for an interstellar thrill, look no further than Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: Breakout! As a Marvel fan, stepping into this ride felt like stepping right into the heart of the action-packed universe. The attention to detail in the queue itself is mind-blowing, keeping you engaged from start to finish. The ride itself? An adrenaline rush that takes you on a wild, unexpected journey with the Guardians. The music, the effects, and the storyline synced seamlessly to create an unforgettable experience. The unexpected drop sequences are heart-pounding and add a fantastic element of surprise. It's a must-visit for any theme park enthusiast, Marvel aficionado, or anyone seeking a stellar adventure! I can't wait to return for another steller mission!
google avatar

Samantha B.

Yelp
I really loved this ride but it did not love me. The tower of terror has in recent years (ie I'M OLD) begun messing my stomach up so I went into this knowing I was gonna suffer after. It was a very enjoyable experience and I love what they've done with the ride, but it's gonna have to be one I enjoy infrequently. Worth the pain!
google avatar

Diele K.

Yelp
This is in my top 3 attractions in Disney California Adventure (DCA). Did you know that there are six different songs with six different drop rates? This is why it's one of my favorites because it keeps it interesting and you don't know what song you will get. Plus, for Halloween they do Monsters After Dark for my fellow metal loving folks. This is already an amazing ride for large groups for a fun photo. Don't forget ride etiquette: don't block others in the photo if you are in the 1st and 2nd rows. When the doors open and you see Disneyland, the photo is being taken so don't forget to pose as well. Have fun!
google avatar

Jennifer O.

Yelp
My son was only seven when we first visited Disneyland so he was too small to go on the original Tower of Terror. The ride was reconfigured about five years ago and I can say that even if you've never watched Guardians of the Galaxy (I've seen only the first movie), you will have a blast! You're seated and belted in in a space about as big as a freight elevator with about 15 other people. And wham! The elevator zooms up about 15 floors and then drops you so fast that the G-force raises you up several inches out of your seat until you feel like you're floating. You're zoomed up and down too many times to count to the shrieks, the screams of your fellow passengers. It's so much fun! Get a lightening lane pass or go standby; it's definitely worth the wait.
google avatar

Rachael M.

Yelp
If you like rides that go up, and down and cause butterflies - this is for you. There's still great story-telling magic in the immersive line, and during the ride itself. If visiting in September, or October, make sure to carve out time to visit twice, as the more traditional iteration of the ride runs before 2 pm, and re-opens in the afternoon at 3pm as 'Monster's After Dark!' in celebration of Halloween. This one is fairly popular, so if using Genie+ try to make this one of your first few lightening lane selections. Or arrive early and hit this up after Radiator Spring's Racers, and Web-Slingers (which to avoid paying for these lightening lane selections, I would try to hit them up first!) I love this one!
google avatar

Jasmine M.

Yelp
This ride makes me giggle every time I ride it. Yes, it can catch your stomach but it is so much fun.
google avatar

Adarsh L.

Yelp
Great ride would recommend! It is very smooth and is an unforgettable experience and also not to mention lightens up whatever fear you might have with a fair amount of comedy and is overall a very fun, energetic, and lighthearted experience and is a great fear-face. Honestly in all fairness the wait in line is scarier than the actual ride (for me at least), but once the first drop hits things usually get better! 10/10 love this ride!
google avatar

Nolan L.

Yelp
Omg so much fun! Loving the revamp from Tower of Terror to Guardians of the Galaxy. The story line is great, plus there are a few more drops than Tower of Terror had.
google avatar

Amie L.

Yelp
What a thrill ride! I'm obsessed with this ride! Always an amazing time. So thrilling and happy. All songs are so exciting. I am ecstatic about which song I'm going to get. It is so fun. Just when you think it's over, it's another fun drop! Every song goes with the ride so perfectly. Every seat is the best seat. I miss tower of terror but this ride is a fantastic replacement if they had to do one. This is the ride I run to right when I arrive at Disneyland California Adventure. Can't wait to go on again!
google avatar

Margaret P.

Yelp
Disney knocked it out of the ballpark with this ride. Yes, it's an already existing ride (formerly the Tower of Terror), but wow, the remake of this ride is great! I watched an imagineering video about this ride and there are tons of variations of drops on this ride, so if you go on the ride a few times, you're probably gonna have a few that are gonna be scarier than others! In this ride, Rocket is the one guiding you through the way and ultimately helping you through the ride. Let's just say it gets a bit rocky through the way! Wait time can get long, but if you have a Genie Pass, you can hop on almost immediately once you secure your timeslot! Don't forget to say cheese when they open the doors!
google avatar

Yelp
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is gone, it has been replaced with the Guardian of the Galaxy ride. Height requirement is 40 in. The ride is in the dark with deep sudden drops of large heights. The drop is 184 ft (a football field is 300 ft long) at 39 mph. The building is now the citadel. The citadel houses Taneleer Tivan, aka the Collector, collection. His collection includes the newly captured Guardians of the Galaxy; Peter, Gamora, Drax, Hroot, and Rocket. It is up to you to rescue them. Outside the building there is a Wanted poster for Mantis. The poster has a holographic image that changes her pic profile. Also there is a huge larger than life statue of the Collector right before the building entrance. Once inside, you are in the lobby that holds the Collector's unique items displayed in glass cases. Cosmos the Soace Dog, suited up in his spacesuit, sits in his case wagging his tail. The Guardians are hanging above from the ceiling in their electrified glass cases. Immediately look up and to the far side of the room, you will see Gamora and Peter moving about their cases. There are so many items on display. Keep a lookout also in the hallway leading g to the Collectir's Iffi Next, small groups are moved into the Collector's Office where the doors shut. Rocket (an animated holographic generation) comes out of the air vent on top of the bookcase. He explains he escaped his case. He tells us the rescue plan. He has programmed our hands into the system to gain entry to the gantry lift. All we got to do is raise our hands in the air to open the lift. Mantis will fly in the ship to pick us all up. Before he leaves, he swipes back Peter's Walkman out of the locked glass bookcase. So for the best view of Rocket, it is best not to be standing next to the bookcases to the right of the Collector's desk. Off to the gantry lifts. They call this area the maintenance room. Be on the lookout for a display of Delores the Octopus from the retired Country BeR Vacation Hoedown attractions didn't see her but I wasn't looking; at this point the queue moved super quick. The staff lines you and your party up in different queues so you all can sit together. Lift your hands for entry ( not really, it is just part of the storyline. You do not have to). You get into your seats. Buckle in. Rocket turns on Peter's Walkman so you have music. There are 6 different programmed rescue plans and soundtracks. At each varying drop height, the lift doors open so you can see the images of the battle outside. I rode this twice during my visit and I do not remember much during the ride. It is a blur. I was just holding for dear life. The ride is lifted to varying heights and then dropped at 39 mph. This is repeated several times. Towards the end, there is a photo taken. You can view it at the end of the ride.

Yelp
This ride was popular the wait was busy throughout the entire day even the lightening lane was long but still got in sooner than standby lane. You get into this ride sit down buckle up and with out any preparation you drop. Than you go up quickly just back in forth, none of us were ready or prepared for what we just experienced. My little balled her eyes when we got off, we also saw other kids in tears too. Great ride!!

Yelp
Awesome update to a newer classic that was the Tower Of Terror. The Good: everything about this ride was awesome! Fun, exhilarating and on pace with the movie. The whole mission and timing of the falls catching you off guard was perfect. I, as a 38 yo man loved it more than my boys. My youngest was thrilled by it, my older son, it scared the crap outa him. He had a death grip the whole time . Understandable as you don't expect to fly out of your seat as high as you do. The Bad: This ride is not friendly to backs or male gentle bits. Absolutely Hulk smashed The Ugly: the yeti easteregg

Yelp
This is my absolute favorite ride at Disneyland! Technically it's in California Adventure but in the overarching Disneyland Park. I suppose on a most basic level it's the same as Tower of Terror at Disney World in terms of how the attraction rides - it's a drop ride. But it's so much more than that at Disneyland! Rocket Racoon does the pre-show which is really cute the first & second time you go through it. Like with any pre-show it becomes cumbersome when you've been on the ride a million times. You may have guessed this by the name but it features other characters from Guardians of the Galaxy aside from just Rocket. Unlike other rides, the plot makes sense and you can actually follow it. If you're lucky, every time you ride you'll get another sing-a-long style, fun and upbeat song. It just instantly makes you happy with six songs in rotation! The coolest part is that with each song, you get slightly different scenes. Yep, this one ride is actually SIX different rides. It just makes it so much fun not knowing what you're going to get. The ride is just over 2 minutes long but it's 2 minutes of thrills. Beware, your photo gets taken! Be ready and lookin' cute!

Yelp
MY FAVORITE RIDE AT DISNEYLAND RESORT!! The ride is located at the California Adventure Park. I love love love this multidrop ride! Love the awesome music & the theming. The queue is very detailed and there's a lot of Easter eggs. Look at and read everything! You are then loaded into an elevator with 21 other people. We like sitting in the last row. I always feel safe on the ride. The ride itself can be scary as there are free falls, shaking, bouncing moments & when you speed all the way up to the top. The thing I like about this ride is how you are positioned. You're seated in a chair and go straight down like an elevator. It's the going forward & down (like Splash Mt) that I don't like. You do go pretty fast downward during the freefall. I had my crossbody purse on and it floated up to eye level. I made sure to push it back down though. Lol. At one of stops at the top, the windows open and you can see outside, this is where they take your picture, then drop you. Each ride can be a different experience as they have a few different songs they play in the background (80s music) and there are different patterns to the drops. Sometimes there are the 12 story LONG drops a couple times, sometimes it's mostly short drops. I don't know why, but three of my close friends (on separate occasions) decided they wanted to ride with me for their first experience. I had a blast every time, but my friends didn't & then I got scared for them :(. It was their first & only times. They promised to never go back. :( On another occasion, we teamed up with an older couple (like in their 60s) and went on it multiple times in a row. They kept following us! Lol. Make sure to fast pass this ride as it is super popular and waits get long! Does anyone else look at the Disney app & check on wait times from home? Then rush to the parks if the waits are short? Lol. Definitely recommended at least once.

Yelp
Yes! Yes! Yes! Do it everytime at least twice!! The music was fantastic. I don't think I ever laughed so hard at my daughters reaction. She seriously thought because her butt left the seat she was gonna die!! She held me for dear life. Yet she rode it again!

Yelp
I know The Tower of Terror was a classic drop ride, but I believe that it was improved with the Guardians of the Galaxy twist! You feel like you're in space the way the car hovers. The music is also fun and upbeat, totally nailing the 80's vibe. Definitely fun for those who love drop rides!

Yelp
Hands down one of my top favorite rides in Disney California Adventure! It is so funny, I used to be scared to death of the Tower of Terror but I absolutely LOVE GOTG Mission Breakout. People tease me all the time saying they do not understand since "essentially" the rides are the same with just a different layover. I beg to differ. I did love the background story and theming for the Tower of Terror but the ride just seemed so rough. I think the combination of music and the drops and how smooth they seem to be just makes it one of my favorites. I love the feeling of dropping and feeling almost weightless. The overlay for Halloweentime at night is pretty awesome as well. The special song and the extra story that was created for the overlay is just overall awesome. So much fun!

Yelp
I remember going to guardians of the galaxy mission breakout last year during the Fourth of July. Anyway, that's my younger brother's favorite ride at Disney California adventure park. Yes, that's my second favorite ride as well, because my first favorite ride at Disney California adventure is soarin over California or around the world from my childhood memories. While I was waiting in line from the ride, I still found the missing classic yeti from Matterhorn on top of the wall. It's very fun to see them while riding on the sudden drops. I'm still looking forward to seeing Thor love and thunder this summer and guardians of the galaxy volume 3 next year. I'm very happy I went to the drop ride the 4th time as I went 3 times in one day of last year.

Yelp
I remember when everyone was panicking and upset when they announced that Twilight Zone Tower of Terror ride was being replaced. People assumed that they were going to dismantle the ride altogether. Little did they know that it was simply being rebranded to something better, IMHO. Here's a Mandela Effect, some people called it Hollywood Tower of Terror. The ride morphed into Marvel Universe and re-opened on Saturday, May 27, 2017 to much fanfare, I'd say the mission was a great success. It's one of our favorite rides in California Adventure Park. Whenever we arrive early at this park, we'd head straight here and get the fast pass right away and get in line. The line goes pretty fast in the morning and sometimes, we'd fall right back in line to ride it again until the line gets too long. Then we'd return at the allotted time stamped on the fast pass to do it all over again. I prefer rides that goes vertically rather than circularly as I get older and older. My favorite ride at Great America is the 'Drop Zone' and I could ride that all day. But this one, not only do you get the zero-gravity inducing drops, you also get the sudden upward boost as if you're blasting off like a rocket ship. You also get a different experience each time depending on which station you get assigned. And if you like to sit on the front row, just simply tell the staff and they will always accommodate you. You'll just have to wait a bit longer, but it's worth it to get seated at the front row. This ride is not for everyone as you get sudden jolts and stops, but if you like the feeling of zero-gravity and love the drops and suddenly being thrusted upwards, then this is definitely the ride for you. You also get a bonus of helping the members of Guardians of the Galaxy on their missions. Don't forget to smile and post for the camera once you get to the top of the ride. You can view or buy the snap shot by the gift shop at the end of the ride. Here's a tip: When they usher you into the holding room where an animatronic Rocket fills you in on your mission, scoot over the opposite side of where he emerges as this is the door that will open to lead you further inside. Hope we can visit soon. #YelpChallenge2020 review No. 9

Yelp
I loved it when it was the Tower of Terror, but love it just as much with its Guardians of the Galaxy makeover. My kids have no idea what the Twilight Zone is, but they can relate to the Guardians, which makes this ride a lot more enjoyable for everyone. It's our favorite Disney thrill ride, and draws us to Disney California Adventure every time :)

Yelp
Best ride o.a.t. no beating it, better than tower of terror. The theming is perfect during the entry and so is the Rocket animatronic.

Yelp
Fun but not as fun as Tower of Terror. I'm glad they have randomized the ride for unique experiences tho. That's cool.
