The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror is gone, it has been replaced with the Guardian of the Galaxy ride. Height requirement is 40 in. The ride is in the dark with deep sudden drops of large heights. The drop is 184 ft (a football field is 300 ft long) at 39 mph.
The building is now the citadel. The citadel houses Taneleer Tivan, aka the Collector, collection. His collection includes the newly captured Guardians of the Galaxy; Peter, Gamora, Drax, Hroot, and Rocket. It is up to you to rescue them.
Outside the building there is a Wanted poster for Mantis. The poster has a holographic image that changes her pic profile. Also there is a huge larger than life statue of the Collector right before the building entrance. Once inside, you are in the lobby that holds the Collector's unique items displayed in glass cases. Cosmos the Soace Dog, suited up in his spacesuit, sits in his case wagging his tail. The Guardians are hanging above from the ceiling in their electrified glass cases. Immediately look up and to the far side of the room, you will see Gamora and Peter moving about their cases. There are so many items on display. Keep a lookout also in the hallway leading g to the Collectir's Iffi
Next, small groups are moved into the Collector's Office where the doors shut. Rocket (an animated holographic generation) comes out of the air vent on top of the bookcase. He explains he escaped his case. He tells us the rescue plan. He has programmed our hands into the system to gain entry to the gantry lift. All we got to do is raise our hands in the air to open the lift. Mantis will fly in the ship to pick us all up. Before he leaves, he swipes back Peter's Walkman out of the locked glass bookcase. So for the best view of Rocket, it is best not to be standing next to the bookcases to the right of the Collector's desk.
Off to the gantry lifts. They call this area the maintenance room. Be on the lookout for a display of Delores the Octopus from the retired Country BeR Vacation Hoedown attractions didn't see her but I wasn't looking; at this point the queue moved super quick. The staff lines you and your party up in different queues so you all can sit together. Lift your hands for entry ( not really, it is just part of the storyline. You do not have to). You get into your seats. Buckle in. Rocket turns on Peter's Walkman so you have music.
There are 6 different programmed rescue plans and soundtracks. At each varying drop height, the lift doors open so you can see the images of the battle outside. I rode this twice during my visit and I do not remember much during the ride. It is a blur. I was just holding for dear life. The ride is lifted to varying heights and then dropped at 39 mph. This is repeated several times. Towards the end, there is a photo taken. You can view it at the end of the ride.
