Best Affordable Food in Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, Triangle | Eater Carolinas

"Guasaca Arepa actually has multiple locations throughout the Triangle, but the one near North Carolina State University does a brisk business serving hungry college students. The signature fillings (both of the meaty and vegetarian variety) can either be enjoyed as an arepa or a bowl, with two arepas or a bowl coming in for the most part under $10." - Matt Lardie

Love the food here. Everything is good. There is one server with braids that always seems like she is annoyed with the customers. Took guest here who are in the UD for the 1st time and were telling them how to order. She was rude and rushing then through the line even though there was no one else behind us that's my reason for 3 stars on service.

Really bad service, came and ordered 2 combos and an additional Arepa with 2 drinks, but my order got all mixed up by the first employee taking my order, but definitely food was really good and tasty, the restaurant is clean inside out, and overall is really good similar to Chipotle. Hopefully manager sees my review and makes some changes to his employees that serve the food.

This was a first time visit! The server was nice and took his time helping me decide what I wanted. I tried the chicken fajita in a bowl. It was good but a little salty for me. It was near closing time so they were low on some of the items and not as fresh. However, I am willing to give them another try. 😊

This was an impromptu stop. Arepas is not common in the west coast. What a very pleasant surprise. The arepa itself is full of flavor. You pick your protein or veggie fillings. I love plantains so that is a plus!!!. Two of us in the group had the salmon arepas and they are delicious as well as very filling (which is surprising for me since I’m always hungry). The staff is pleasant and patient. My husband loves it so much that he just want to eat all guasaca if he can while n in the city.

food is delicious, however if you order the arepa be aware that there are different bread types and you should specify the kind you want. they don't always ask and if you forget to tell them, they may just give you whatever they feel like giving you instead of clarifying with the customer first.

The food is excellent. The one lady who serves usually on Saturday is pretty rude. She makes the experience bad for customers. She also calls the guasaca sauce guacamole. This gets confusing to people. The menu says guasaca sauce. call it that. Thanks.

This place was good! The food is a fresh and different alternative to Tex-Mex bowls. I really liked the bowl and the fact that you could literally get it anyway you wanted it. They had an outdoor seating. The arepas are something that take a little adjustment in taste because they are cornmeal based and slightly sweet, a contrast to the usual tortillas. I would definitely return for another meal. The bowls are large enough to take some home or share if you don't have a big appetite or if you are trying to count calories or save money.

The place is amazingly clean and fresh. The seats are very inviting and refreshing colors. A very welcoming environment and the food is fresh and the employees are welcoming. This place is an upgraded Chipotle mixed in with Cava. You will find a variety of things you might love or like. This is also locally owned and the place is Closed on Sunday. God Bless such a place to be closed for the lord's day, so employees could go to church. I'm definitely coming to eat here.
