"Lidia and Guido Alciati opened their restaurant in 1961 and Italian cuisine has not been the same since – their hard work signalled the beginning of real change which revolutionised cooking in Italy. They were among the first to understand the importance of regional ingredients, sourcing excellent produce which Lidia then showcased in her superb dishes, while Guido was responsible for the attentive service and excellent wine list. Their teachings live on in the sumptuous dining rooms in Villa Fontanafredda, where their children continue the culinary traditions established by their parents. Ugo’s sensitive skills in the kitchen and Piero’s experience front of house contribute to the success of this restaurant, where the best food and wine from the region in served in deceptively simple dishes that have few equals. One of the highlights is the plin (stuffed agnolotti pasta closed with a “pinch” by Lidia), which has drawn visitors here from all around the world and which is as delicious as ever – the pasta is stuffed with meat and vegetables and served with a velvety meat sauce. An always extraordinary experience! I had lunch today at Da Guido, and as always, everything was perfect. The place is enchanting, set among the beautiful hills of Serralunga d’Alba, with an atmosphere of genuine elegance and tranquility. Lunch was excellent — from the agnolotti del plin to the egg with white truffle, an unforgettable dish, and finally the wonderful freshly made fior di latte ice cream. A restaurant that truly deserves a stop, both for the outstanding quality of the food and for its beautiful setting and impeccable service.

We went with a flexible 4-course menu, and the two pasta dishes we chose were outstanding. As you’d hope in this region, the quality of the white truffle was exceptional. For dessert, they served a boldly simple, generously sized milk gelato—rich, full-flavored, and it honestly proved how satisfying a “straightforward” dessert can be when it’s done this well. The meat course and the final petits fours weren’t particularly distinctive, but considering the price point, that felt completely fair—and overall it was clearly a very good experience. I can’t speak for other seasons, but based on my visit, I would absolutely recommend Guido during white truffle season.

The tasting menu was outstanding: every course beautifully prepared, creative, and full of flavor. The wine pairings were spot-on and absolutely delicious. The service was stellar — attentive, knowledgeable, and warm without being intrusive. The atmosphere in the dining room was lively and full of joy, with the sound of laughter and conversation creating a truly welcoming and heartwarming ambiance. We felt genuinely happy to be there and completely taken care of from start to finish. We would absolutely return and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a special dining experience.

We had a sincerely excellent lunhc at Guido ristorante- this was one of our favorite restauarnts of our 5 day trip. The plin is the best in all of Piemonte, and the restaurant decor is chic as well as comforting and warm. Great presentation for the fior di latte gelato. Service was spot on, and I can see why they received a MICHELIN star- everything was seamless.

Memorable dinner. Food was delicious and the service was kind. We took their recommendation on the wine, and ended up buying two bottles to bring back home. Hope to come back in the future.

We couldn't get in for dinner so we went for Lunch - their Gelato is the most amazing I've ever had. It's made from local cows, no sugar added, just delicious. I had the Carpaccio and the pasta with shaved white truffles. Everything was superb - really can't get much better than this. We actually came here because for the last year I've heard about the Gelato! Beautiful grounds.
