Guido’s Review - Holborn - London - The Infatuation

"Somewhere between TikTokers screaming about this being the best pasta in London and the thought of eating carbonara out of a cardboard box, we'd already decided Guido's was going to be a letdown. After visiting the fast food-style pasta spot in Holborn a few times, we don’t think it’s the best pasta in London. But we concede that, if you order right, it’s a good-quality, well-cooked, quick lunch or early dinner—at a reasonable price. The touch-screen ordering system, with the option to customise pasta shapes and toppings, is convenient and food flies out in under 10 minutes. There are some rules to follow to have a decent meal here, though. The carbonara gets claggy if you're travelling and the 'nduja is an almost inedible firestorm. Ignore the bread too. Instead get the cacio e pepe and amatriciana (they don’t scrimp on the guanciale). Food Rundown Nduja This ‘nduja sauce is hotter than the sun. And not in a smoky, balanced way. In a sheer wall of painful heat, kind of way. photo credit: Sinéad Cranna Cacio E Pepe Traditional and straightforward, like a beloved grandparent. The right amount of pecorino and pepper come together with pasta water to make this glossy sauce. It’s not going to blow anyone away, but this is one of our go-tos for a quick, filling lunch. Amatriciana They don’t try to fob you off with bacon, this is properly salty, fatty guanciale. We like it best with the rigatoni so that little nubs of pork work their way into the odd surprise bite. Like all the pasta here, it's cooked nicely too." - Sinéad Cranna

My go to lunch spot on uni days. I come at least once a week and have been for the past year. Always fresh and tasty. I always have the same (spaghetti carbonara with extra guanciale) and i’m never disappointed and never waiting more than 10mins but usually 5mins. £11.50 with extra guanciale. Very filling along with the free slice of bread at the bottom soaking up the sauce.

Expensive -9.50£ caccio e peppe. The pasta was not cooked with the sauce long enough, it was rushed, giving a very inconsistent texture, chewy cheese. Very disappointing. They seem to focus more on getting things done and doing them properly.

Great spot for a quick and tasty lunch! The pasta is always fresh and full of flavour, making it a reliable go-to. Service is friendly and efficient, which adds to the experience. Definitely worth a visit!

I discovered restaurant I want to go to again even though I'm picky about eating out. This is not quite a restaurant. This area is full of universities and offices, so it's a place that serves cheap and easy lunches. The order is placed right in front of you and the food is cooked skillfully and ready in no time. I didn't have high expectations considering the price and the appearance of the restaurant, but it was surprisingly delicious! ️ I chose Nduja. The pasta was cooked to perfection and the taste was delicious 😋 It's close to the Peacock Theater, which I often go to, so I think I'll become a regular.

A colleague and myself bought from here on Friday 21st Feb 2025. I ordered cacio e pepe, my colleague the carbonara. The cacio e pepe was pretty terrible. Firstly they had somehow missed the pepe, which in a 2 ingredient sauce is saying something. Secondly temperature control whilst making this dish was terrible. Its very simple - mix whilst too hot and your cheese becomes globular and chewy. More importantly, my colleague got food poisoning from her carbonara, and ended up redecorating the offices we were at. Please take this seriously Guidos.

The quality of the food itself is great - great flavours, seemingly authentic ingredients and served hot. Unfortunately, portion size-wise, my container was half empty (only realised when I got back to the office to open abd eat) which isn’t great considering the price point.

Ordered the carbonara for lunch, it was nice and creamy, the portion size for lunch I thought was good. Would've been nice if the box was wider however instead of so tall as it would've been easier to eat the spaghetti.

Hardly Italian taste. Expensive precoocked meals. I had a “ragu” and a “carbonara”. Just a bad pre-made egg sauce with 5 bits of bacon and a really average bolognaise as a ragu… also a slice of bread at the bottom. Who has a slice of bread at the bott of their carbonara? The only thing that was a good surprise was the cheese!
