The Best Cheesesteaks in Bucks County | Eater Philly

"Guido’s Steaks in Bensalem offers an expansive cheesesteak menu, both beef and chicken offerings, where you can create your own steak sandwich or choose one of the steak specialties, such as the Stallone, featuring pepperoni, provolone, roasted peppers, and sauce, and the Tommy Boy BBQ, a cheesesteak offering with pepper jack cheese, barbecue sauce, bacon, and long hots. Accompany your steak sandwich with Old Bay fries with a side of white cheddar sauce and add some hot peppers and pickles to your meal at the condiment bar." - Kristen Kwiatkowski

Drove from NJ to eat this delicious pizza! My son wanted wings and when I say they were the freshest, hottest, tastiest wings I've had in my life thats no exaggeration. The pizza was also top notch. Food came out fast and the service was great! Can't wait to come back and try a meatball parm! ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Google
Large menu with great options. Got the veal...fresh hand breaded pieces. The half size subs are plenty. Great portion.

Google
Absolutely love this place. I only wish I knew of this gem when I first moved to Bensalem. (I live 3 blocks away) I would've seriously gave them all my money rather than the mediocre cheesesteaks and sandwiches I've gotten from other local eats. Friendly staff and cool atmosphere. Love the posters on wall. I usually do take out and its quick and foot is hot and fresh. Highly recommend.

Google

Google
Quite possibly the best cheesesteak I’ve ever had. This was only their half size cheesesteak for $14.25. It was a perfectly toasted bun, steak filling falling out of the sides, and a perfect amount of cheese and veggies. They have a vast variety of menu options, including pizza, wings, hoagies, stuffed long hots, Philly cutlets, and so much more. As someone traveling from NY to try a Philly cheesesteak, I highly recommend Guido’s, you won’t be disappointed.

Google
OMG!!! If you haven’t been here….You need to!!! Delicious sandwiches!! We will be back!! I had the “Yo Philly” Italian Pork sandwich and it was amazing!!!!! So juicy!! Tender pork, sharp provolone, broccoli rabe and long hots. My hubby had “The Stallone” specialty steak. Very good combo of steak, sauce, pepperoni, peppers and provolone!! The bread was perfect. Crispy outside and soft inside.

Google
Huge hoagie. Got a half. Can't even finish a half. Delicious loaded with meat. Very tasty reasonable price. Just a few tables inside Self service pickles and peppers Can't wait to try something else

Yelp
After a long time my brother was harping on me to try this place, me and my wife finally did. Guido's Steaks in Bensalem. Me and the wife each had a slice of the Brooklyn Pie and that was excellent. Fantastic crust, perfect cheese ratio and a wonderful sauce. We also split the Humongous 22 inch meat missile with Cooper Sharp and fried onions. When they brought it out it looked comically large, but it tasted excellent. The roll was perfectly crisp but soft and gave way without falling apart. The abundantly cheesy, well seasoned meat was laden throughout, and it made a very good cheese steak. If I lived anywhere in this area it would be a regular stop for sure.

Yelp
I know the originals downtown are all the rage, but you owe it to yourself to try one of these. American With.... Outstanding. Friendly counter staff as well! Thank you! (Very short for my normal review, but what more do you need!?)

Yelp
I had really high hopes for Guido's, but I was disappointed in both sandwiches I tried. The beef cheesesteak was overflowing with meat and wasn't drippy at all. The seeded roll was fresh and excellent, but the meat itself was bland and did not have enough cheese mixed in. The one thing that was odd was the temperature of the meat. It was blazing hot and took quite awhile to cool down. I could only eat half. Just a miss for me. The buffalo chicken cheesesteak was on the same type of seeded roll. The temperature of the meat was insane. Even into the second half of the sandwich 15 mins later the meat was still extremely hot. The chicken was cut up in small/fine portions. Cheese and hot sauce were ok, but were shut out by the temperature of the meat. The seeded roll was again fresh and delicious. My kid had the chicken tender platter with crinkle cut fries at $9.50. He reported they were good. All drinks are a flat $3. I may make a return trip to try a cutlet sandwich and/or and Italian hoagie, but my experience has been big portions and not big on flavor (their website does state 100% ribeye and 100% Young Chicken Breast Shaved on site). At $13.50 for 11" cheesesteaks your getting quantity for sure. The inside is clean and the staff was nice. Their menu is extensive with the majority of it being sandwiches. Most of the menu has a main meat (sliced rib eye steak, shaved chicken breast, sliced NY strip steak, chicken cutlet) with several flavor combinations/ingredients. They also have hoagies, burgers and wraps. I liked their condiment bar. They have several tables that seat four and a couple of large round tables inside. There are also few tables for two out front along the sidewalk. Considering the area this is one of the better sandwich shops you'll find.

Yelp
Small parking area in front; strong Philly vibe! Extensive cheesesteak options. I went with the "Franky Cheech" (mushroom, fried o's, longhots, aged provolone) on a sesame seeded torpedo, that may have been Liscio's. The shop itself was brightly painted with large sports mural on one wall. Service was equally bright and cheery and patient while I eyed the list of names and descriptions of the steak and cutlet sandwiches. It was still hot when I unwrapped it at the kitchen table. I cut it into quarters to share with lovely bride, squirted a thin stream of ketchup on top and dove in. First bite told the tale. Large load of chopped beef mixed with onions and longhots with cheese across the bottom. It was steamy as I took the plunge; fogging my glasses instantly. Taste was quite good and the ingredients revealed themselves to my tongue. The ketchup did add a nice tartness, even though I knew I was breaking the rules about adulterants. Didn't care. My meal after all. Would definitely run back for another. Surprised the drive was less than 20 minutes.

Yelp
I tend to eat pretty healthy. But, when I'm in the food mood for a hoagie, cheesesteak or chicken sandwich, Guidos is my go to. The "Scarfo" is my absolute favorite - chicken cutlet, broccoli rabe, share provolone and add a long hot! Yum! My son always orders the cheese steak and it eats the entire sandwich. The sandwich is always fresh and hot when picked up. The order is ready pretty quickly too.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
My family brought me home half a cheesesteak sandwich from here. It was huge! The meat was juicy but I think the provolone cheese melted into the sandwich because I couldn't see or taste much of it. I could only eat half of it. It was very filling.

Yelp
Heard this place was very good decided to give it a try. Used Uber eats and ordered/craved a buffalo chicken cheesesteak. Reminded me of Gaetano's which used to be in the area. Huge sized sandwich, very good seeded roll. The chicken chopped fine which is how I like it. My only issue was there wasnt any blue cheese and barely any hot sauce. I just added my own of both.... Shouldnt have to for a 16.00 sandwich. Update - reached out to owner and got immediate response and he offered to make it right. Changing to four stars incredible customer service!!! Went from 3 to 4 stars.

Yelp
Was heading to parx and wanted lunch. Friend told me to head over to guidos. Ordered the little Joey. Chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, basil, tomato and nice balsamac glaze. Being from nyc and Italian bread if a huge thing for a sandwhich and this didn't miss. Some of the best bread I have ever had. They are not cheap with the amount that gets stacked into the sandwich. The chicken was so crispy. The only missing I would say is the bread crumb was just plain. It brought this sandwich down cause I would have liked a little more flavor. I will bet stop back again to get something else next time

Yelp
My bf and I ordered two cheesesteaks, an order of plain fries, and 2 drinks. Overall the price was around $40. The cheesesteak was huge and the amount of meat was insane. I loved it! The service was great and everything was fresh. This is a place i will certainly visit again. There is a huge art wall that represents Philly and new york, so a combination of both of the cities I love.

Yelp
Make sure you're hungry! Big portions. We ordered the Zio Franco meatball sandwich and a Cheesesteak with Cooper sharp, grilled onions, mushrooms, peppers and long hots! Both were absolutely delicious. I also had some hot sauce on the cheesesteak. The cheesesteak was a large and could probably feed three... I had half for dinner the next night; it reheated perfectly. Don't miss their self-branded sodas.. tried the root beer and ginger ale. Smooth.

Yelp
This place is my go to for many items. They just started doing pizza and it is really good, I haven't had a bad experience from here and that's ordering at work with coworkers or at home with family.many say they are expensive, are they more then most places yes but the old saying you get what you pay for is a definite here they use top quality ingredients and it shows.

Yelp
Guidos offers excellent, huge cheesesteaks in an unassuming storefront off of Bristol Pike. My father and I tried out the sandwiches here recently and found them on par (if not better) to many of the famous cheesesteak places in Philly proper. We decided to order in person, though it seems the majority of the business here is takeout and phone orders. The menu here is large and offers cheesesteaks as well as cutlet sandwiches, roast pork, and cold hoagies with different flavor combinations. My father opted for the chipotle chicken steak and I went with a custom creation comprising Cooper sharp cheese, mushrooms, broccoli rabe, and long hots. We initially balked at the $14-15 price point for an 11" sandwich but found the steaks here generously stuffed and quite hefty. One sandwich can likely feed 1.5-2 folks. We appreciated the ample portion of fresh meat on each steak. My father's chicken stood out as the finely chopped pieces remained juicy and flavorful. The chipotle seasonings on his sandwich added a unique touch. My customized steak was also excellent with plenty of tender beef, the perfect amount of cheese, and extra flavor from the toppings. The rolls here are, naturally, seeded and tasted fresh and soft. Guido's creative and high quality offerings are worth a try for any Philly style sandwich aficionado, and certainly rank among the better options I've had in the area.

Yelp
Hard to believe I've never heard of this place until recently. Cute shop. I'm really big into sandwiches and this place has every sandwich you can think of. "Johnny long hots" in fairless hills has a similar menu, but I have to say, the bread on the sandwiches is better, the spice was just right, and this place is closer to me . We got the chipotle chicken steak. Great portion (11in)! They have a 22in but that's a little too big for just two people. The service was pretty quick, hopefully it's that quick during football season! Can't wait to try more sandwiches.

Joanne C.

Yelp
The hoagies are amazing. The service is always good and the folks that work there are friendly. A good experience the minute you walk through the door.

Yelp
Large pizza steak Meat is good but seeded roll is not soft. Would rate 5 out of 10. Service is good and price is over $14.00 for full steak
google avatar

Casie G.

Yelp
Overall really good. We ordered cheesesteaks which were great but there wasn't enough cheese (you can tell in picture) we actually had to ask for more so that it covered our whole sandwich which I found slightly odd considering they are known for their cheesesteaks. Don't suggest staying as it is very eat and go type of vibe. The staff was nice and everything came out in a timely matter. Definitely a great spot if you are looking for sandwiches!

Robert E.

Yelp
We visited Guidos' about 2 months ago on the way to a concert at the casino. We both got relatively simple steaks, cheese, fried onions, and we both left raving about the food. Service was good, nice dining room, very clean including the bathrooms. This morning we were reading an article about the best steaks in Philly, and we realized that Guidos' steaks were probably the best we've ever had! We live near Atlantic City, so we have plenty of places to compare to including Whit House subs in AC, and Guidos' really impressed us. If you're in the area on the way to the casino, stop here and save some money over the overpriced casino restaurants.

Yelp
This was one of the best sandwiches of my life, times three. Just go! Out of three cheesesteak places we tried in two days, this was my favorite. The pork italiano changed my life. Absolutely incredible food quality.

Yelp
I have a thing for Italian Hot Dogs and despite ranking them 3 stars, they're actually the Best, that I have found in the Bucks, Montgomery, Philly area. If I'm going to give out 5 stars, that would be going to Jimmy Buff's in North Jersey. What a wonderful taste, you will discover taste buds, that you never knew you had.

Joshua S.

Yelp
Stopped in around 8PM for a team meal after a great hockey game. Probably about half the team. Most parents just split their sandwiches with their sons. Sandwiches were excellent. Fries are very good and they have a good drink selection. It's not a huge place so large crowds, over about 20, would have a tough time finding a seat. Will be back for sure.

K P.

Yelp
Nice well made steak sandwich. Have coopers, which is always good. There branded sodas were a nice change from the standard ones.

Jennifer F.

Yelp
First off the staff here is top notch - the counter people are friendly efficient and accurate. The cooks are obviously talented. The only thing that I find offputting are the portions. They're enormous. Their chicken Caesar wrap has at least two large cutlets cut up but no lettuce. It falls apart when you try to eat it because it is just stuffed too full. The "half" cheesesteak fed three of us - again failing apart because the roll was beyond capacity. I know there are people out there that would find this a plus. My family, however, wound up frustrated and unable to enjoy it. If they cut their portions slightly, they could also lower prices. Even then the portions will be crazy.
google avatar

Carlos M.

Yelp
I've never had a cheesesteak from here until recently and I was pleasantly surprised. There aren't many places that can match the end product with the total cost of that product, but Guidos can. The cheesesteak was given a generous amount of meat that would put some other establishments to shame. At Guidos, you get what you pay for and I can appreciate that when it comes to food. The service was pleasant and convenient and the environment still lives up to its reputation. My only wish with Guidos is that its operating hours would be slightly better.

Annamarie V.

Yelp
The cheese fries w wiz were very good. The Buffalo chicken cheesesteak was good too. The girls at the counter were very sweet
google avatar

Kris C.

Yelp
Tried for the first time, their menu has tons of different sandwiches/hoagies. I like what I ordered today. Staffs are very nice as well. The only thing that I was surprised was how pricey it was. Other than that, this is a very okay place.

Reza A.

Yelp
This is what Philly cheesesteaks and hoagies are all about. Can't say enough about the quality and taste, I hope they do not change a single thing. It's worth the drive.

Hajri K.

Yelp
The Philly cheese steak sandwiches were I had the smaller portion and was full off of half. The staff, 2 young women at the time where sweet and helpful! Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Kevin J.

Yelp
My Lord! This place had one of the best cheesesteaks I've ever sunk my teeth into. The flavors of everything was immaculate, the sandwich was fresh and piping hot, and the service was incredible. 11/10 for the sandwich alone. I wish I had the patience to have taken a photo but it smelled and tasted too good. I'm not even from the area and plan to make another 4 hour round trip just to get another one. Amazing sub and would recommend to anyone!
google avatar

Darin I.

Yelp
We usually get take out from them and we love the sandwiches and also the eggplant rollatini!

Ness K.

Yelp
I heard about this place and seen pictures from social media and decided to stop in and try it on my way to Philly from NYC. I ordered the "Slamin Italian" - Pepper Spread, Aged Provolone, Prosciutto, Capicola, Soppressata, Genoa Salami, Long Hots & Olive Oil with Lettuce, Tomato, Onions & Spices. I'm glad I tried this place because it was one of the best hero's ( Hoagie ) I've even had and I eat all over the place and try a lot of different joints out. I highly recommend and the price was great as well as the size.
google avatar

Anna N.

Yelp
We've probably ordered from here 4 times and haven't been disappointed once. The French fries are always crispy, the rolls are delicious and the sandwiches are perfect. 10/10 would recommend
google avatar

Veronica N.

Yelp
This is a great locally owned and family run business. Angela welcomed us right away, and was super sweet and friendly. They are abiding by all covid social distancing rules. There are a few tables you are able to eat or take out and delivery are available. They have a pickle & hot pepper bar to enhance your sandwiches. Everything we have tried was hot fresh and delicious. They offer great lunch specials.

Anthony R.

Yelp
Best cheesesteak in Bensalem!!! I would definitely recommend it to anybody who wants a good ribeye steak on a seeded roll
google avatar

Curtis P.

Yelp
Can't claim to have tried EVERY cheesesteak joint in Philly but this place tops my list so far!
google avatar

Katina S.

Yelp
Every single bite of anything I ate was so savory and delicious. I'm mad that I've lived here 8 months and haven't ordered from here sooner. My partner had the chicken cutlet "champ" which was more delicious than my pic could capture. I couldn't decide what to order so when I asked I was quickly told I should have the Brooklyn Favorite "The Godfather" and dang it was delicious and the perfect amount of spiced Italian long hot pepper. You can't leave without getting the Limoncello cake - my mouth watered after every bite of that fluffy, yummy goodness. I legit want this cake for my bday cake. I love Guidos has a whole new meaning for me! I can't wait to try more mmmmmm

Kunj P.

Yelp
My go-to place for cheesesteaks! Can easily hang with any place in Philly. Always great service too.
google avatar

James K.

Yelp
Okay, forget all the talk of Jim's, Pat's, Geno's, Delessandro's... THIS is where you find the best cheesesteaks OR at least add Guido's too the list. The portions for the cheesesteak and fries were huge and pipping hot. In a time when portion sizes are shrinking and prices increasing, Guido's seems to be doing the exact opposite. I'll be back. I advise you do the same.
google avatar

Joey B.

Yelp
Fantastic sandwiches. The fresh baked rolls are the finishing touch and cherry on top. The Frankie Cheech is my go to, but don't sleep on their meatball sambos either. I'm a huge fan of the D'onofrio. Meatballs are homeade and excellent. I'm married to an Italian woman who is a whiz in the kitchen so I'm a meatball snob. This place outdoes themselves everytime.
google avatar

Howard H.

Yelp
Order a cheese steak and it was way over cooked a very dry. Also had French fries were okay and a good size for the price

Bob W.

Yelp
A friend of mine suggested Guido's when I looking for somewhere for lunch. I am so glad that he did!! I haves passed this place numerous times and never stopped in. I picked up my order. It was ready when I arrived. Packaged well and nice and hot. Friendly staff. My friend told me how big their steak sandwich is. WOW!!! It was so packed with meat, that the steak was falling out of it while eating it. My wife and I each shard a half of a cheesesteak. Meat was so tasty, roll was nice & fresh. We also got the Cajun Fries. Crinkle type fries. Crunchy (not soggy). They had a nice spicy Cajun kick to them. Perfect. What I really liked also was the condiment table. (Any fan of Steve's Prince of Steaks remember they use to have this but stopped doing it after Covid). At Guido's, there were sliced pickles, and three types of hot peppers (even the whole green & red peppers). The table was so neatly organized. Little containers with lids. Even little paper brown bags to put your little condiment containers in, to separate it from the rest of your order. Plastic ware & napkins available here also. Clean inside with a small area to sit in it you wish. I grabbed a menu on the way out. Can't wait to try the pulled pork & so many other items they offer. This is on my list of one of my favorite take out places!!!

Tyler C.

Yelp
Great food! Definitely know how to make a good cheese steak, from the meat to the bread everything was killer.

Joe K.

Yelp
Best cheesesteak in the area, will feed 2 if you want. Not the cheapest but worth every penny
google avatar

Rob D.

Yelp
Best cheesesteaks, chicken cutlets and hot pork around! Cooper sharp cheese and fried onions is the way to go! Seeded rolls are also a great touch.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
3.5 stars Had guidos twice in the span of 4 weeks. I'll be honest, their beef cheesesteaks are not good. They tasted like steak ums. So I was naturally disappointed. Their Buffalo chicken cheesesteaks are very, very good. So good that I had to get them again. Fries are solid and prices are fair. The store is cool and has a lot of pictures of some semi famous to famous people. Sandwich wise they are probably top 3 in Bensalem.
google avatar

Michaela M.

Yelp
Yasssss. A perfect whatcha-see-is-watcha-get kinda place. Steak bombs done VERY right, no fuss sides, pricing is super fair and portions are big. Doesn't look like much from the street but it's worth pulling into. We will be back whenever we're in the area.
google avatar

Scott M.

Yelp
These guys know how to make real Philly style steak sandwiches. The rolls are fresh and soft. The cheesesteaks are full of meat and cheese! S we hat else do you need?!
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
Found Guido's thanks to Yelp. Very happy I did. Remarkable in every way. I had the traditional Philly Cheesesteak. When asked exactly how I wanted the sandwich made, I asked the wonderful young woman at the counter to have it made the way she thinks it should be made. The result was perfection. Highly recommend, Guido's.
google avatar

Alex J.

Yelp
In town for a tattoo, wanted to try a philly near philly lol. This place is amazing, best cheesesteak i have ever had. The meat the bun the white whiz its all perfect. Do yourself a favor and try this place asap!
google avatar

Glenn B.

Yelp
Their "whole" cheesesteak is about two feet long. A half is the size of most other steaks. Debate if you will the volume of said fillings, but your eyes will bug out when you see the size of this beast. Very filling, and always ready when they say it will. They also have their own line of sodas, which are quite good.
