Where to Go for Boba Tea in San Diego - Eater San Diego

"You can grab bubble drinks along with French macarons and hot menu items like garlic noodles or popcorn chicken at this Clairemont shop. Milk teas featuring jasmine, matcha and caramel are just a few varieties but those looking for keto drink options have plenty of choices, too." - Darlene Horn

I can’t believe this shop has been here for so long and I haven’t tried them and it seems they’ve updated their decor and menu to follow the trends. It was on my radar because of DoorDash there is a buy one get one free promotion. Sea salt cream jasmine tea with matcha foam and boba - the jasmine tea flavor is floral and pleasant, and I liked the salted matcha cream flavor that added a hint of matcha flavor to the drink. I didn’t like the boba as it was tasteless and had no flavor so would skip next time. Salted coffee with Ube cream - delicious Vietnamese coffee style with a hint of Ube flavor. This one was so good! Parking is very easy in free large parking lot. My order was made quickly and ready to go and packaged well.

Google
This little café was a nice stop for milk tea, and you can even add boba if you want. They also had a selection of pastries, which was a great bonus. The drink itself was good, although I probably should have ordered it with less sweetness. Overall, a cozy spot worth checking out.

Google
My daughter and I are visiting from Swansboro, NC and stopped in for boba tea. With so many great options, we ended up trying a few different things. The owner at the front counter was incredibly kind and attentive, and we truly felt welcomed. As a business owner myself, I know how essential great customer service is, and this place absolutely delivers. The macarons were amazing—normally I don’t care for them because I’ve never had a good one, but these completely changed my mind. My daughter loved the crispy tofu with the house seasoning, and our drinks were delicious. We will definitely be coming back every time we visit PB to see our son.

Google
The best macarons in SD! The service from the cashier (I think her name was Destiny)was amazing!!! Highly recommend this great boba shop.

Google
This place is incredible! Had the tofu bites with the sweet chili sauce. Maybe the best tofu I’ve ever had. Also ordered the keto cheesecake. This cheesecake will rival any cheesecake. I’ll be back! Destinee was amazing. Made the experience an absolute joy.

Google
The macaroon, cookie and balinese i bought were delicious. The Uber cookie was soft like a moist ube sugar cookie. The Cookie Monster Macaroon tasted great it had an oreo inside with dubai chocolate style pistachio with chocolate.

Google
I give GuilTea Cravings ~ 4.3/5 stars. It’s a decent spot with some really tasty treats and boba. I like the ice cream macaroon sandwiches, the banana pudding, and the Thai tea. That said, the ordering system is kind of awkward and sometimes I wish you could just order with a person. Instead you have to use a kiosk—which is convenient to an extent, but also strangely depersonalizing. They’ve done a lot to spruce up the interior since they’ve opened, which is cool. They’ve added fake plants, benches, neon lights, and more. Overall it’s a chill spot to hang out for a bit and have a treat. I do think the macaroons and banana pudding are pretty dang tasty!

Google
Cozy little bubble tea and cookie shop. They had lots of different cheesecake that looked very fresh. Bubble teas and cookies were good. Decent amount of seating inside. They also had a great menu of hot food as well.

Yelp
The vibe of the place is really chill too, perfect for grabbing a quick bite or hanging out with friends. The staff were all super friendly and helpful, which always makes a difference. Plus, their drinks menu looked amazing, though I didn't get a chance to try anything this time. Overall, Guiltea is a must-try. Whether you're craving something familiar or want to try something new, they've got you covered. I'm already planning my next visit to explore more of their menu!

Yelp
QUICK TAKE// Chill boba spot with a great variety of options at very fair prices. SUPER Keto friendly and wow their cheesecakes were . FOOD + SERVICE// In searching for a keto friendly coffee option, this place came up and I was floored with how many keto options they had! It is so rare that I see a separate keto menu - down to their cheesecakes! I got the KETO VIETNAMESE COFFEE. It was surprisingly not sweet at all - so I did have to ask for more allulose. They were really nice about adjusting to my preferences (including offering to completely redo my drink if it got too sweet). Boyfriend got the PROTEIN THAI TEA FRAPPE - this was super good. Tasted just like a regular Thai slushy that was more creamy. I asked why they had the keto menu, and I learned that the owner was keto for about 12 years and the lady working there (I wish I got her name!) had also been keto - they therefore were very knowledgeable about the diet. I know next time I want a chance to try their Keto Chaffle! I sampled some of the CHEESECAKES they had at the counter - but the highlight was their BASQUE UBE CHEESECAKE. Absolutely delicious and the consistency was ‍. VIBES// Laid back boba shop that had a fair amount of mid sized tables that could probably fit about 6 people. They had some board games and it really is a spot for people to come and hangout.

Yelp
Best Basque cheesecake in San Diego! I've had Basque cheesecake in restaurants that charge a lot more for mediocre cheesecake. This is such a hidden gem if you like Basque cheesecake. There's no crust, so you just get the best part of the cheesecake. It also happens to be gluten free. Their cheesecake isn't overly sweet, although it is rich like how I want my cheesecake to be. Their generous slices usually take me a few days to get through. I also love their Asian flavors like ube, matcha, etc. They usually do a seasonal flavor too like pumpkin, red velvet, etc. They used to have a durian one that was so good if you're a durian lover. Their classic flavor is super solid too if you like a more traditional cheesecake flavor. I'm realizing that I've not had a bad flavor from here! I'm not a big drinks person, so I can't say much about that. I regularly come here for their desserts. I got to chat with Destinee, one of the bakers, and she said they make their desserts in-house bright and early in the morning. Give their cookies a try too! They have unique flavors, and they're moist and not too sweet. Parking is super easy, and they have a great rewards program too!

Yelp
Guiltea Cravings is one of the older boba tea shops in the SD area having been around for nearly 10 years. The business is located in the Madison Place of Clairemont just west of I-805. There is always plenty of open parking spaces in the plaza lot. About five tables with bench style seating were available inside. Shelves with books and games provided entertainment if you wanted to hang around and pass time. Macarons, bubble tea, and coffee were the featured items on the business sign hanging above the suite on the marquee. Appetizers, banh mi sandwiches, bao buns, and garlic noodles were the savory offerings to complement the sweet drinks and desserts. It was eerily quiet during my mid-afternoon visit with just one person (possible employee?) seated at a table. Maybe the customer traffic picks up in the evening. There were six types of fruit teas listed. I chose the True Passion Tea that was made up of passion fruit, green tea, and popping boba. Since a topping was already included, I didn't request another one. To my surprise, the drink was sweeter than I anticipated which was unusual. The popping boba provided some texture, but I would have preferred ordinary brown sugar pearls instead. The price and quality of the tea were average which led to my three star rating for Guiltea Cravings.

Yelp
We have been coming here for years. The menu continually changes. Thankfully the macrons have remained. They have a good amount of flavors and come out with seasonal flavors. I like the birthday cake, ube and cookies and creme. Regular macron cost $2.25 per piece if you buy 5, 10, 15, or 20 there is extra discount. They also come out with adorable character macarons that cost a bit more. The shell has a nice outside crisp and chewy texture. The flavored ganache has a good amount. other desserts that I like: cookies (chocolate chip, cookie n cream) cheesecake Keto Items I have liked: Keto Chaffle- cheese, egg, almond flour $5 Keto Mocha Coffee **One of our top favorite places to get a spam musubi in San Diego!!** We are originally from Hawaii and the largest consumers of Spam (next to Guam). My kids could eat a spam musubi morn, noon and night. 1 for $4 2 for $5 C'mon get 2! It's a Double Spam Musubi It has a splash of sauce, decent amount of rice, with a spam on top and the bottom wrapped with seaweed and sprinkled with furikake. Favorite Drinks: - Matcha Frappe. I ask to blend it with Oreo and add boba - Strawberry Matcha My kids like the board games that they have. They have 5 booths. A bench outside and several chairs facing the front. I have come in to do work. Service is usually good. They have been great explaining things to me when I want to try something new. Parking: private Free parking Military Discount: 10% This will remain our family go to place. Good service, yummy desserts, and it has a nice environment to hang out.

Yelp
The place was small and cute, we were able to hang out and play some games. Service was good. We got a few drinks and some shrimp toast all in a timely manner! To be frank it just wasn't good. I feel bad saying so but I've had a lot of tea around and it just wasn't that good. The toast was okay. And all the drinks weren't bad , but far from good. In my opinion.

Yelp
Service great. They have these little flower pressed pineapple cakes that are a must anytime we are close. I bought more than 2 dozen treats (pineapple cakes and Macarons). I wish they would provide better packaging than a paper bag, but otherwise they were well received. They also sell spam musubi but the flavor profile is off to me.

Yelp
Such wonderful desserts and great coffee. Super nice service and just a cute place all together. Absolutely would go again for the cookies and cheesecake although the macarons weren't for me.

Yelp
Stopped by a little late night with my friend and grabbed a macaron as well as a cookie. I got many recommendations (Blueberry Cheesecake I think, Fruity Pebbles, etc.) from my friend, but decided to try my all time favorite-- Salted Caramel. It was good after waiting several moments. And I liked the size, it was quite big in comparison to where I normally get macarons from (Le Parfait Paris). They bake the macarons and cookies in house which is pretty cool. I grabbed the Powdered Ube Cookie. It was dusted with powdered sugar with a strong and rich ube flavor. It was good, a little crumbly, soft. They had a large menu of not just drinks, but food as well, and much more. They even have keto options available. The worker was very sweet and helpful, regarding the items they had. I recommend stopping by!

Yelp
Can't go wrong with the 5.50 16 ounce egg coffee or ube coffee here. At this price point, these drinks from Guiltea Cravings can't be beat in San Diego. The egg and ube coffee at some other cafes in San Diego are stronger and more fragrant but they also charge 7 dollars plus for a cup that is loaded with too much ice as well. I was surprised that Guiltea Cravings did not load up their drinks with ice to trick customers so their drinks have tons more value especially at the 5.50 price. This drink and snack shop is also centrally located with tons of parking. Totally would head back for their value priced coffee.

Yelp
OH MY GOODNESS! I never knew I needed sea salt of all ingredients in my boba tea! I ordered the sea salt coffee boba tea and it did not disappoint! The menu also offers keto options too which I definitely want to try. I cannot wait to come back here, this will definitely be my new favorite weekly tea spot. Cheers!

Yelp
This cute spot has so many options to choose from- I try something new every time. The staff is friendly & service is quick. I opt for the character macarons- they're so cute! Also love that they're open until 10pm, convenient for the nights I need a little sweet treat.

Yelp
Tasty pandan milk tea that you can't find elsewhere, recommend 50% sweetness. Burnt basque cake is also tasty. I don't recommend the ube one since that didn't sit well with us before.
google avatar

Shawn D.

Yelp
Macarons here are soooo good. Probably the best in San Diego. We've been a few times now.
google avatar

Mai H.

Yelp
Haven't been here in years. I decided to order from DoorDash for pickup and take advantage of their BOGO deals. I tried their Ube coffee, Thai tea, and Banana Pudding. Ube Coffee was actually perfect at 50% sweet. The taste was good, but the caffeine level was low and it didn't do much for me. The Thai tea, which I also ordered 50% sweet, per other Yelper's suggestion, was very bland. The Thai tea should be at 75% or 100% sweet. The banana pudding was good, though a tad too sweet. Nothing really blew me away, but it wasn't bad. They have a variety of snacks, drinks, and dessert options. I'll probably come back to try more of their sweet deals.

Yelp
A tiny shop off Clairemont with great customer service, a good ambience, aesthetic, and great Vietnamese coffee! I haven't had anything else from here yet, but I would definitely stop by if you're in need of a cup of coffee :)

Yelp
I ordered the Hibiscus strawberry peach slush, and it was very tastey. Of course it's on the sweet side but I think all slushes are (and should be). The slush only come in the large size but the menu is expansive so you're sure to find something you like. The staff is friendly and welcoming and the seating seems friendly for casual hang outs.

Yelp
ADORABLE shop I spotted whilst hubs was comic book shopping at ComicKaze. Grabbed a yummy Hokkaido Tea with boba and 4 macarons as a hostess gift. I received a free - DELICIOUS! - ube cookie from the very nice and friendly barista working there when I told her I was updating Yelp photos and a review. Plenty of seating and a free little library to check out. Will def be back when in the area again. Cheers! "CC"

Yelp
We got the hibiscus strawberry tea, pandan milk tea, and two macarons (blueberry and ube). I got my drink at 50% sweetness with less ice (my usual go-to combination). It was not too sweet, which was nice, but it also wasn't that flavorful. I was excited for this drink because it had matcha, taro, and coconut, but I honestly could not pick out any of those individual flavors. My husband's hibiscus strawberry tea didn't come with popping boba when the menu indicated that it did. The drinks are also so tiny and i didn't think it was a good value for the size and quality. The blueberry macaron was quite nice. The macarons are $2.25 each, which is pricy but I think also pretty standard these days. This cafe has a very robust menu-- they seem to have everything from banana pudding, macarons, egg rolls, teas, cakes, popcorn chicken...etc. I have not tried most of the menu items so who knows, it could all be really good, but I wasn't too impressed with the TEA which I feel like a cafe should excel at! The service was nice. Seating was a little weird...it's cute, but also very narrow with little room between the table and the bench. It's a nice little cafe atmosphere-wise, though. But it fell short of my boba standards.
google avatar

Alan P.

Yelp
So good here. They have keto options. You can customize your choices in foods and drinks. Very friendly and fast service. Clean seating area.
google avatar

Vivian Z.

Yelp
This is a staple whenever we come to San Diego! This time we got house milk tea, taro milk tea, and the ube cheese cake :) The cake was SOOOO good, highly recommended!! Would def love to try the other flavors next time.
google avatar

Matthew D.

Yelp
Taste could drastically improve. The thickness and tastes was dangerously close to peptobismol. I came in around 11a and it was dead, so i would think the quality would've been undivided not to mess up one cup. If that is truly how their strawberry milk tea is suppose to taste, then I'm turned off to the idea of coming back or trying anything else. Service was fine, no one was rude and i got my order in a timely manner, and the atmosphere looked pretty nice. I just wish the flavor had matched
google avatar

Yelp
Randomly found this place while hunting for something to satisfy a craving and I'm so happy and excited to find that they have keto options! The keto Thai tea is on point! So glad to discover this place.

Yelp
It looks like this place is mostly known for its coffee and desserts, however I tried the food, and it was subpar to say the least... The only item that was palatable was the Spam Musubi. It was seasoned well on one side and tasted very good. Unfortunately, the experience went downhill from there... As a Bahn Mi connoisseur, I must say that the ingredients were not quite the freshest nor the most flavorful. It was as dry as a bone, as there was practically no spread. Also, they do not carry hoisin sauce, as requested. The Bao did not come with any beef option either. Therefore, I tried the lemongrass chicken, and it was absolutely unpalatable. I couldn't even eat it, unfortunately... Therefore, it went to waste. This is a creative twist on Bao in that it is more of a Bao taco. It could have worked beautifully, if there was more attention placed on the actual taste of this dish. The Rice & Egg Bowl was a very disappointing coup de gras to the meal. To make things worse, the egg rolls were either freezer burned or fried way too much, because the surface was scarred and dry. Furthermore, there was no attempt at putting any garnishing on top of the dish. Not even a few chopped chives... For $15, I could have made this dish for less than $5 at home, and it would have tasted better. This is where I draw the line, because we work hard for our money, and we expect quality and value. Hopefully, the management will take these comments into consideration in order to improve their food offerings, so that they can succeed as a triple threat in their Vietnamese offerings!
google avatar

J L.

Yelp
I love their drinks and food! My favorite is the gau bao buns and taro frappe. Staff is very friendly as well.

Yelp
This place is such a cute vibe! They have games and the cutest area to work or play games with friends. The macaroons and Hokkaido milk tea were amazing.

Yelp
From the very first bite, I was completely enamored--the tofu, delicately crisp on the outside and irresistibly tender within, was a culinary revelation. Its flavor was nuanced and beautifully balanced, infused with aromatic spices that hinted at both tradition and innovation. Each piece seemed to melt in the mouth, delivering an umami-rich depth that lingered long after the bite had passed. It wasn't merely delicious--it was a testament to the chef's mastery of texture, seasoning, and presentation. I found myself savoring each morsel with growing admiration, captivated by the harmony of ingredients that transformed a humble soy-based ingredient into something extraordinary. And then, of course, there is Dubai--the city that doesn't simply exist, but dazzles, astounds, and imprints itself onto your memory with every golden sunset and shimmering skyline. To say that Dubai is "so Dubai" is to acknowledge that it transcends description. It is an experience of contrasts and wonders: ancient traditions nestled within futuristic architecture, serene deserts giving way to lush, man-made oases, and a culture that embraces both heritage and global modernity with stunning ease. It is at once extravagantly luxurious and deeply soulful, a place where every detail feels curated for awe. Being here feels like standing at the crossroads of possibility--where the present is spectacular and the future seems already realized. The tofu, the ambiance, the entire experience--it all comes together as an unforgettable sensory journey that lingers long after the moment has passed. (yes i used chatgpt bc it was that yummy)

Yelp
Absolutely amazing, the peach cobbler cookie made by StrawBaby was so good i hope i can get another when i go back, thank you for the tastiest experience!

Yelp
I liked this place! Vietnamese coffee - this is what I had and it's good for me because it was espresso and just coffee. Dark roast coffee brew in a metal Vietnamese drip filter, condensed milk, cream, and top with in-house sea salt cream. Avocado Smoothie - Ok! My mom used to make these for me when I was little, so when I found this I was totally excited! It was good - can't have that much since it's very rich & full of calories. A delicious, creamy and somewhat healthy smoothie make with fresh avocado and condensed milk. Top with house-made whipped cream. Keto Basque Burnt Cheesecake (GF) - This is on odd twist on cheesecake, but I liked it. Wasn't my favorite but it's ok. Cream cheese, heavy cream, eggs, Lakanto Monk Fruit sweetener, and rice flour. VN shrimp & seafood toast - I actually liked this a-lot, you get two pieces which just enough! This baked shrimp toast features rich and creamy shrimp mixture on top of crispy toast

Yelp
I love this place, I've been coming for years! All of the drinks are delicious, you can't go wrong with any! Plus all of their desserts are amazing! The service is always quick and everyone is so nice! The ambiance is always pretty chill and the music always puts you in a good mood!

Yelp
Im pretty impressed by the quality here. The Ube Vietnamese coffee was pretty good and the banana pudding was good as well. The lady upfront helped me out and the customer that was there was also helpful. The place is in an older part of town but if your on this side stop by. The inside is pretty modern. I didn't give it 5 stars just because I haven't tried all of the stuff they have there.

Marina D.

Yelp
It was our first stop at this place. Very warm atmosphere, welcoming stuff. Ordered latte with oatmilk. There were variety of sweeteners, which is important for me. We enjoyed our lattes. Spend 20 minutes there, music was playing on the background. Great experience. Thank you for this nice and friendly place!

V V.

Yelp
Friendly service and extra attention to detail and cheap drinks with decently tasty food. I got the spam musubi. The seaweed was a soggy but it still tasted great. For the drink I got a 16oz Jasmine milk tea with salted foam, 80% sugar. The milk tea also tasted great!! I was so hungry and thirsty I didn't get any pictures haha. Definitely worth to go here.

Yelp
I love this place!!! I drive from Oceanside just to come here It's that good I love the macarons And good customer service they're really helpful Always clean Highly recommend this place if you're looking for a boba or macaron place so many options

Yelp
You know a place is good when you've paid the premium in Postmates fees to have it ordered 5x !! But today, I finally visited in person --and I can confidently add exceptional customer service to my list of reasons to love this place High-Level Highlights (Why It's so good): * Quality Ingredients: This especially noticeable in their baked goods!! * Unique Menu Items: From a variety of options like mozzarella sticks (a personal favorite) to unique flavors such as strawberry cheesecake macaroon, & items for every meal (incl. a dinner menu)--it's all so so good * Open Late: This gem stays open until 10pm, which is rare for places offering boba drinks or baked goods. *Reasonable Prices: For the high quality of the food, the prices are amazingly fair especially compared to places in downtown San Diego. Here are some of my favorites: Drinks: Salted Coffee: A must-try for those who appreciate their coffee strong yet flavorful!! It's pure black coffee topped with a layer of their insanely good sea salt cream! That sweet and salty combo is Ube Coffee: I've guiltily ordered this THREE times and started asking for no ice to savor more of it. It's a small fee but so worth it! This is a Vietnamese coffee but with their sinfully good sea salt cream-- it's pretty flavorful and def. a calorie splurge, which is why the salted coffee has recently become my new go-to! Desserts: Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie: Quite possibly the best chocolate chip cookie I've ever had . I'm not sure what brown butter does, but you can taste its rich difference with every fluffy, chocolatey bite. It's crazy, I'll actually eat these over a series of days and it served as my afternoon pick-me up. Cookies and Cream Macaroon Ice Cream: When I first tried this, my mind was blown --it was that good! The macaroon was incredible, and so was the quality of the ice cream! I love when places double down and you get good ingredients across the board I highly recommend trying this place, I mean I just spent 15+ minutes crafting this review so yeahhhh it's THAT good !!!

Yelp
Found this gem on my way home from a prenatal appt and I only wish it was closer to where I live! But I'll be stopping here a lot over the course of my pregnancy haha. Their classic milk tea with boba is one of the best I've ever had. I love a good milk tea and I could tell they use a really high quality tea to make theirs because the flavor was really nice a bold, like tea with milk vs a lot of other boba places that just use some sort of flavored syrups. They also had yummy spam musubi and cookies! And all very reasonably priced. Will be back!

Yelp
Amazing customer service and quality of food. My go-to place for Vietnamese Coffee in Clairemont!

Yelp
Yummy and good service. Recommend for families. All different options on cravings. Drinks and macarons. Very clean

Yelp
Came back this time for my fave taro frapp ($7 for large). It was smooth and refreshing; therefore, I drank it quickly, and I forgot to take a pic. Anyway, I had to order the basque tiramisu cheesecake ($6) because I'm a fan of each dessert, and this is a hit. Legit tiramisu flavors and textures combined with the smooth cheesecake filing, 8/10 rating. The sweetness was also satisfying, unlike their original/plain basque cheesecake that I've had previously. Service is always efficient and friendly here.
google avatar

Rick C.

Yelp
Good mix of drinks available. Really friendly service. But what stands out are all the cookies and desserts, including some really unusual macarons. Hot cheese Cheeto?!
google avatar

George W.

Yelp
Service was SO NICE. unfortunately, I wish she had more help it was such a busy day for just one worker! Pandan milk tea: has taro, pandan, coconut, matcha, among other flavors. I think it's okay, and the price is quite reasonable for ~$5.50. Brown sugar boba is flavorless and not very good. This drink is just too creamy and thick for me, but if that's what you like, then go for it! Mozzarella sticks are great! The decor here is really nice, and it gives the place such a nature-y yet fun vibe.
google avatar

Phil G.

Yelp
Tried the Dirty Milk Boba (75% sweet)--light coffee flavor, not too sweet, and the coffee jelly was a nice touch. The Ube Cookie was moist and cake-like with a great ube flavor, while the Pumpkin Cookie had a subtle pumpkin taste, rich caramel, and perfectly baked texture. The Ube Salt Cream Matcha Latte (50% sweet) had strong ube flavor, light matcha, and chewy boba. Delicious drinks and desserts!
google avatar

Han L.

Yelp
A unique offering here. I appreciate the vietnamese coffee here and the traditional phin. Desserts were pretty good too.
google avatar

Nathali S.

Yelp
Jasmine gave exceptional customer service. The ambiance is nice, clean, good music. We tried the chai tea boba and the coffee blossom, they were delicious. We got to Cookie Monster macaroons that our kids absolutely loved! They are a little on the pricey side but overall delicious. Definitely gave it 5 stars for the awesome customer service.

Daniella Z.

Yelp
If I could rate 0 I would, customer service sucks. The girl who attended me (wearing glasses) was super rude and clearly has zero customer service skills. My iced drink was made hot, after I had clarified it would be iced, she said yes. Then mocks me and puts ice but it's not chilled but lukewarm warm now. Never going here again. Thanks for the great first experience

Yelp
The Saigon coffee is amazing! Spam musubi is a generous size and it was delicious. My kids ordered fruit smoothies and they were saying how much they liked it. Bagels were toasted to perfection! The sweet girl at the front was helpful and showed us how to make a certain selection on their ordering screen. Cute little spot with amazing coffee!
