Super excited when a Guisados opened relatively local to save me the trip to LA so I can finally try it. Went with a buddy early on a Monday morning. Place was empty but to be expected. Really nice and clean new place. Great to hangout with outside or inside. Staff was really nice and friendly. Kept checking on us throughout our time there.
I couldn't decide what to get so I got the sampler with: tinga, mole poblano, cochinita pibil, chuleta, bistec en salsa roja, and steak picado. Love guidados (stewed meats) in general. So juicy and so much flavor when cooked properly. All options here have their own flares: the chocolate/nutty flavors of the mole heightened with the added sesame seeds and pepitas, the spicy cochinita pibil that pairs perfectly with the pickled onion which adds acidity and sweetness, and the tangy chuleta with salsa verde. They were all great, but those stood out the most, and you can't forget about the hand made tortillas that hold up amazingly. To wash it all down you have the homemade horchata, you can tell the difference from the sugar water other places offer that is a mix, and I got extra to go for my wife.
Sadly this stuff is all super expensive. A sampler player with 6 tacos is $11.25 and they are one bit each. The regular tacos at $4.25 each and are bigger but not large by any means. A large horchata is $4.25 and they add on $3.25 for a shot of espresso. At least it is all extremely high quality and tastes amazing. But if I want a taco fix, there's plenty of places I can get it for, and much more reasonably priced. Guisados specializes in the type of tacos they give you and they do it well. I'll come back, but not a place I'd frequent. Really happy I finally tried it
