"Harnett and Devina Baweja have two successful restaurants already (Gunpowder and Madame D), and at this point they know what they’re doing. Gul & Sepoy is a newish concept, with “Gul” referring to the half of the menu dedicated to banquet-style Rajasthani dishes, and “Sepoy” to the more rustic dishes Indian soldiers would cook for themselves on the move. Order between six and seven small plates, and make sure the whole tandoor-roasted sea bream is in there—completely deboned and brightened with pickles. The space matches the food in terms of prettiness, with dusty-pink walls, slate tiles, and clean table settings."

Modern Indian restaurant from the same guys that run Madame D and Gunpowder. Small plates to share with small portions, however very tasty. Food is mild spicy. Cocktails are good and wine list is reasonable. They have three deserts which were good and tasty. Overall feels very pricey for what you get, food wise.

Sophisticated, yet rustic place which is almost hidden. The menu is not overwhelming with just a few selective dishes. My favourite was the yam and paneer kofta chaat. The clams were also very flavoursome, but the three birds (which sounds impressive), was quite bland compared to the other dishes. I was looking forward to the rum soaked pillows for dessert, but I couldn't taste any rum at all. Even though it was the most expensive of the desserts, it was also very basic. The chocolate ganache, on the other hand, was extremely good. The smooth, bitter, rich chocolate just melts in your mouth. Wheelchair access ❌. There is a step to get into a narrow doorway and no accessible toilets.

Food was a hit and miss. Lovely vegetarian options but food came all at once so was cold by time to try the sharing plates. Didn't have any room for dessert as food was filling. Great wine options.

Modern and stylish takes on Indian classics, but on the expensive side and sometimes lacking in flavour. The decor and presentation are very slick but this comes with quite steep prices.

The absolutely delicious food and the price of the set lunch menu (16 pounds) makes a visit to to this super cute restaurant a must if you are in the area

What a lovely little restaurant. The food was delicious. We ordered all the vegetarian dishes on the menu and the taste was fantastic. It is not your average Indian restaurants - if you are expecting curry, rice and naan-bread, you will be disappointed. But if you are looking for delicious flavors this is the place for you! The staff is also very friendly and helpful.

This place looks lovely from outside - minimal & modern. After checking the unique dishes on the menu outside, popped by to have a little bite to try out. As I popped in rather early, I was the first customer. Receptionist / floor staff very friendly and helpful. But when the dishes arrived, I must say I was rather disappointed - I have been told that portion is a "tapas size", but with these prices, I was expecting slightly bigger potions. . . I tried Ox Cheek (yummy but spicy) & Duck (yummy & sweet). Although both dishes were rather tasty, I couldn't stop wondering, if I was at other places, I could be feeling fuller than right now, with this price tag. . . I guess this place is not a sort of restaurant, where you get fulled up, but just to enjoy nibbles and drinks. . . on pay days. . .

Really enjoyed the vegetarian food. Be aware that the only Indian thing about this place is the name of the dishes. Also, neither Indian bread nor rice is served. The portions are supposed to be tapas-sized but I found them quite big and filling. They try to make you order more repeatedly. Don't fall into the trap. Don't order water or they will give you expensive bottled water. If you don't order water they will give you free tab water. A tip of 12.5 % is already included so make sure to not tip twice.
