The Best Hillstone Restaurants In LA, Ranked - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Gulfstream is essentially Houston’s with a lighter and breezier aesthetic and a menu that mixes in Gulf Coast seafood with the usual lineup of cheeseburgers, kale salads, and ribeyes. The Newport Beach location sits near Fashion Island, the luxury shopping center that probably supplied most of the designer handbags and boat shoes you’ll spy in the dining room. We appreciate that there’s a small raw bar where you can slurp fat Pacific oysters, but the unique dishes you’d come here for—clam chowder, barbecued shrimp in creole cream, a seared ahi salad straight out of the ‘90s—are mostly just fine. Where Gulfstream has clear superiority is its patio, a shady, string-lit backyard with fire pits that overlooks PCH." - brant cox, sylvio martins, garrett snyder

Gulfstream - Review - Newport Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"Gulfstream is essentially Houston’s with a lighter and breezier aesthetic and a menu that mixes in Gulf Coast seafood with the usual lineup of cheeseburgers, kale salads, and ribeyes. The Newport Beach location sits near Fashion Island, the luxury shopping center that probably supplied most of the designer handbags and boat shoes you’ll spy in the dining room. We appreciate that there’s a small raw bar where you can slurp fat Pacific oysters, but the unique dishes you’d come here for—clam chowder, barbecued shrimp in creole cream, a seared ahi salad straight out of the ‘90s—are mostly just fine (we prefer the usual Hillstone staples like the burger, kale salad, and ribeye). Where Gulfstream has clear superiority is its patio, a shady, string-lit backyard with fire pits that overlooks PCH. photo credit: Lexie Scott Food Rundown Heavenly Biscuits Is heaven a little on the dry side? Or seasoned with a pinch of rosemary? If yes, then the name of these sturdy biscuits is accurate. Once you slather on the salted butter and honey on the side, they're a solid way to start a meal. PlayMute video credit: Garrett Snyder Oysters From The North Pacific Gulfstream might not be the first place we'd send you for oysters, but the dining room's six-seat oyster bar stocked with crushed ice is cute, and the oysters themselves are plump, fresh, and well-shucked. At $25 for a half-dozen though, they're not cheap. PlayMute video credit: Garrett Snyder Pan-Seared Tuna Salad This dish wouldn't look out of place on the cover of a '90s food magazine (take that as you will). The big chunks of barely seared, spice-rubbed ahi tuna taste clean and meaty, and the squiggle of almond vinaigrette doesn't overpower the fish. The oddest part is the actual salad: huge chunks of mango, avocado, and whole marble-sized macadamia nuts tossed in sesame-miso dressing. photo credit: Garrett Snyder Gulf Coast Style Fish Sandwich A fish sandwich the size of your face? Gulfstream's got it. Nothing groundbreaking here, but we appreciate that the fried grouper is exceptionally moist, even if that means the crispy breading starts to flake off after the first bite. Be sure to request some tartar sauce on the side of dipping. PlayMute video credit: Garrett Snyder New Orleans Barbecue Shrimp As long as you aren't expecting Cajun country spice levels, you'll be happy with this gussied-up riff on grilled shrimp and rice. The sauce is rich and creamy, the shrimp is snappy and tender, and we like the griddled toast even more that those biscuits. photo credit: Garrett Snyder" - Garrett Snyder

Google
Wow! Amazing food, great service and a cool vibe. Pretty perfect experience all round. We got the Oysters - incredible! The blackened shrimp were delicious in a really tasty rich sauce. And the red trout was so succulent and juicy - unreal. Highly recommend… we’ll be going back! (Great service from Rachel)

Google
First and foremost service today was AMAZING! Friendly, helpful, and very attentive to our needs almost before we knew we needed something! We order vodka Gimlets from the bar as we sat down and they came quickly and were SO good. They delivered them to the table in a frosted very cold martini glass and when my drink was half way gone they brought a second frosted cup to switch it to, to keep it chilled! Food was amazing. We tried their biscuits for an appetizer. Biscuits had good layers, were very flavorful and served with butter and honey. For dinner I ordered the barbecue shrimp and my husband ordered the sole fish and fries. My shrimp were so good, the barbecue flavor was on point and was very good with the basmati rice and veggies. Also came with sourdough bread which was very good and buttery! My husband’s fish was battered lightly with panko and was extremely fresh and flavorful. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and would definitely go back again. We saw a few salads go by our table that looked amazing and I’d love to return to try one of those too!

Google
The service was incredible! The food was superb! The bone in wood grilled ribeye was juicy and cooked to perfection! The filet was just as good. The trout dip was surprisingly really good! The clam chowder was also delicious everything was delicious! Our server Jo was one of the best we have ever had anywhere!

Google
Had a great experience at Gulfstream in Newport Beach! I sat at the bar this time, which was nice, but I’m definitely coming back to try their outdoor patio, it looks beautiful and relaxing. I ordered a sandwich and it was absolutely delicious. The meat was incredibly tender and full of flavor. The service was attentive and the ambiance upscale yet comfortable. That said, the prices are definitely on the higher end, and it can get a bit crowded during peak hours, so be prepared for a wait if you don’t have a reservation. Still, the food and overall vibe make it worth a return visit.

Gulfstream is a classic go-to spot in Newport Beach, nice ambiance and definitely one of our favorites. Heads up it gets really busy, so make a reservation ahead of time because this place is packed no matter what time you go. We came by on a Saturday for an early dinner, and it was already buzzing. Even with the chaos, the staff was super attentive and on top of everything. It’s clear why the locals love this place because it always delivers. We kicked things off with our usual: the Smoked Trout Dip. It’s got just the right amount of smokiness and balanced flavor it is such a solid way to start the meal. For my main, I went with the Red Trout and a side of Kale Salad. This combo is always a winner it is light, flavorful, and just consistently 10/10. My boyfriend went with the Dover Sole and also got the Kale Salad on the side. He enjoyed it, but mentioned he still prefers the flavors of the Red Trout overall. The dessert Sundae was a treat! Not on the menu but they do have it available if requested. Drinks (cocktails and wine) were great too. We always have a good time here, and if you give it a shot, I’m pretty sure you will too.

Google
Great food, great drinks, great service and great atmosphere. We really had a nice evening. What a perfect place to share a nice meal with family, friends or loved ones.

Google
Food was delicious and service good. The place seems busy most of the time, so making a reservation is highly recommended. The biscuits were a nice way to start the meal, the salty/savory with the sweet (add honey) were delicious. The open faces, use a knife and fork tuna burger was also great. The slaw was ok, and a little too mayonnaisey. It was a little boring, and in future I will opt for fries.

Google
Had a fantastic meal at Gulfstream. I ordered the "Duke" Filet Mignon, and it was one of the best steaks I've had in Newport Beach—perfectly cooked, juicy, and full of flavor. I swapped the usual broccoli for the Emerald Kale salad. The kale salad was fresh, nutty, and delicious, a perfect pairing for the steak. I also got a side of their crispy french fries. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. Highly recommend it!

Yelp
I've now visited Gulfstream three times, and I'm officially making this my go-to spot for holiday dining with my loved ones. The atmosphere is exceptionally classy and elegant--you really want to dress to impress when you visit. Everything I've tried has been 10/10, from the expertly crafted cocktails to the perfectly prepared dishes. My favorite dessert is their chocolate hot sundae with Godiva chocolate--truly one of the best versions I've had anywhere. Each item is beautifully presented, indulgent, and thoughtfully composed. The aesthetic of Gulfstream is refined and sophisticated--it's the perfect blend of luxury and modern elegance, like if an expensive cigar and a high-end champagne had a beautifully curated experience. The space feels intimate yet vibrant, perfect for special occasions or a stylish night out. Even when the restaurant is busy, the service is professional, attentive, and warm, which makes the entire experience feel effortless and enjoyable. I absolutely love coming here and can't wait to celebrate the holidays in this gorgeous space. Highly recommend for anyone seeking exquisite food, drinks, and an elevated, memorable evening

Yelp
We had a small girl's dinner here and from start to finish it was such a positive experience. Emily is that definitely that girl. She was such an excellent server, and we wished she could sit with us and join us for dinner and drinks. Great service + great food all around. We ordered the biscuits, clam chowder, ribs, dover sole, caesar salad, fries, coleslaw, and lime meringue pie. For drinks the paloma (not on the menu) is a great choice. Less sweet and refreshing. I think we could've done without the pie. But the rest of the food was very tasty, presentation was clean, and service was quick, not rushed, and all around it was such a treat. Interior was pretty and there was a dim lit vibe which is much appreciated.

Yelp
Food: is delicious. Sometimes a 4/5 sometimes a 5/5. Today was a 4/5. The clam chowder and curry shrimp were okay. Service: always great. Ambiance: always great. Patio seating was refreshing and the heaters worked great.

Yelp
Apparently, I haven't been to this location in a while -- Wow, didn't expect to see an entirely different restaurant! I love the dimmer lighting, the variety of seating options: tables-&-chairs, booths, half booths -- far more attractive and intimate than their previous design, as well as the nice bar area. Lovely ambiance at night. We started with their comfort-food-worthy Heavenly Biscuits (served with butter & honey), followed by their generously-sized Iceberg Wedge -- with option for complimentary Bacon ($21). Hubby was pleased with his 'Knife and Fork Ahi Tuna Burger, with Fries option ($25). I thoroughly enjoyed my Rotisserie Chicken ($28), tender and plump, with its savory pan juices; however (my fault for not fully reading the menu; having ordered it numerous times at other Hillstone Group restaurants, I didn't read past "Rotisserie Chicken... with wild rice...), I didn't expect a cold-&-tangy side dish (my preference would have been something warm & savory). Our finale: their Ice Cream Sundae ($15) with a sauce boat of hot fudge! The entire staff was wonderful from the start: from the friendly-&-accommodating host desk to the support staff delivering orders and refilling waters. They demonstrated impressive teamwork. We had the absolute pleasure of being served by Erin, who was sweet-and-personable, professional, knowledgeable on their menu items, with the perfect amount of attentiveness (not too much or too little), and (surprisingly especially on a Friday night, yet greatly appreciated) completely unrushed service. Fabulous evening and experience, making Gulfstream a place I desire to return to, again.

Yelp
We dined at Gulfstream on a Friday night. Jackie was our server and she provided excellent hospitality during our dinner. The restaurant was busy and it's a little on the darker side. The noise level was moderate. We started off with the Heavenly biscuits and house salad (we requested to add bacon) for our appetizers. The biscuits were really good with butter and honey. The salad was so tasty and full of egg and bacon. I haven't had Catalina dressing in years so it was nice to have the salad served with it. For our entrees, we ordered the ribeye steak and shrimp dish. I had my eyes on the New Orleans shrimp but on the night we dined in, it was served as a Thai style with a mix of red and green curry and cashews. The flavor had a slight spicy kick to it but overall the dish was very tasty. The steak was served with a sauce on the side that complimented it well. For dessert, we had the hot fudge sundae. It was a huge sundae served with a generous serving of hot fudge. I look forward to dining here again.

Yelp

Yelp
Good food, atmosphere, and service. We stopped in for a late dinner after a holiday party and were seated right away. We enjoyed the Ruby Red Trout with Crispy Rock Shrimp and lemon butter sauce, and the Mustard BBQ Beef Ribs, both served with slaw. Several items on the menu were tempting, but these won out.

Yelp
Crab Cakes 1000/10- this is one of my favorite dishes ever and honestly the best crab cakes I've ever had! If you know me or have been following this account for a while then you'd know this is my favorite dish and favorite restaurant. These crab cakes have actual jumbo lump pieces of crab in them and they're so buttery without that fishy sort of taste that some places have. It comes with a side of coleslaw but I always get the emerald kale cashew salad as my side instead and it's my favorite salad ever! It's made with a peanut sauce that's perfectly balanced, and the salad is dressed just right - not too heavy or light. I absolutely love the crunch of the cashews in the salad which adds perfect texture. Heavenly Biscuits 10/10- made with rosemary, these biscuits are perfectly buttery and flaky. They are so delicious and best when served piping hot straight from the oven. They're amazing with butter, and honey is at every table specifically for these biscuits since they're such a popular appetizer. The rosemary adds this perfect herbal note without being overwhelming. Tres Leches 10/10- this happens to be my favorite dessert also! We always get the tres leches without the whipped cream and caramel and it's absolutely incredible. I love how it's completely drenched in that sweet condensed milk - it makes every bite so moist and rich. The cake itself is so light and airy, and it just absorbs all that amazing milk mixture perfectly. Lemon Meringue Pie 10/10- this was so good and I'm completely obsessed with the graham cracker crust! It's buttery and has that perfect crunch. The lemon filling is the perfect balance of sweet and citrusy - not too tart but still bright and fresh. The meringue on top is fluffy and light, and it really makes the whole dessert perfect. Everything at Gulfstream was an absolute 10/10 tonight! This has been my favorite restaurant since I was 10 years old, and I love so many of their dishes, but these all happen to be my absolute favorites. They executed everything perfectly as always. The service, vibes, and food are consistently stellar every single time I come here. There's just something so special about this place that keeps me coming back over and over again! Yelp
I have to update this review to a Five-star +++. Last night my husband and I dined in the bar section and the service was so amazing, the staff are so attentive and friendly. We had a lovely red blend wine with the grilled artichoke appetizer- it was the best we have ever had- plus the chopped vegetable salad with the signature cheeseburger-all 3 were absolutely yummy! I forgot to take photos because I was too busy eating and before I knew it, there was nothing left on my plate, lol!

Yelp
Came to Gulfstream right at opening for brunch and was extremely disappointed. Our party of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids) were not seated because, according to the hostess, they can't seat more than 4 people at a time and don't have a capacity for larger groups. I even asked if we could split the party into 2 tables close to each other and she said no. We ended up going to another nearby restaurant that was happy to accommodate us. Very frustrating experience as they are definitely not welcoming for families or larger groups.

Scott B.

Yelp
I had a very disappointing experience at Gulfstream Restaurant. From the moment we arrived, the host staff was unfriendly and dismissive. We were quoted an excessively long wait time with no explanation, no effort to accommodate, and honestly no basic level of customer service. The interaction felt rushed and indifferent, as if our business didn't matter at all. What makes this especially frustrating is that I've eaten at many of the Hillstone family restaurants from Northern California all the way down to Southern California, and this location was by far the worst experience I've had. Those restaurants are typically known for professionalism, consistency, and hospitality--none of which were present here. There are plenty of great dining options in Newport Beach, and unfortunately this one did not live up to the reputation of its brand or its location. Based on this experience alone, I would not return or recommend it.

Yelp
ambiance and service was great! food was good but not amazing. our favorites were the oysters, biscuits and caesar salad.

Yelp
This is has been my favorite restaurant all my life even when it was The Cowboy. It's beautiful inside, cozy, warm, elegant, and the lighting is relaxing. I love the patio seating, the bar, and the booths. The trout dip is a must have. They have taken it on and off the menu, but it's always a must. When it was off the menu, they would still make it. Their oysters are exceptional. They used to make very nice thin shoestring fries that I would chow down and order a plate of with whatever I got. I miss those delicious crispy shoestring fries! Bring them back!!! Their fish burger is always A+! I had a vegetable chopped salad and it's always delicious. Their dressing has a nice touch of mustard. So the recipe on this has changed a tad which is always fine. I just miss the large beans instead of the macadamia nuts. Were they lima beans? They used to also make a buttermilk fried chicken I would add to this salad that was out of this world. Bring this back too!! I like how they are adding the peas to this salad now, but the original was unparalleled. I'll be a life-long diner here. :)
google avatar

Lydia S.

Yelp
Possibly the best service that I've had in any restaurant recently! Well, I was surprised to hear of it , I also appreciated a maximum of four parties per reservation, making our experience feel more private and intimate. I had the oysters. Either outrageously good biscuits with a very nice pour of moderately priced Chardonnay. Yes, they do have the more pricey types, but I went to discover the ambience and a bit of the food and was pleasantly surprised (as were my friends). Call early for reservations.
google avatar

Yelp
FOOD- Since this is the main reason for checking any eatery out. I have many friends and clients who rave about this place do my husband and I met for a weekday lunch date. We ordered the biscuits, and as all reviews state they are very good. The tall and petit tower of flaky dough is pretty to look at and heavenly to taste. Served with cold butter and a local honey to accompany. I wish the butter had been room temp or whipped. The cold butter does now spread easily. Artichokes were char grilled with spices on them. They were good and came with a Remoulade. This was more of a grainy mustard concoction. I love mustard but this was too grainy and vinegar tasting for the artichokes. We had to try the oysters. They were delicious! I wish our server knew where they came from or the name of them. Main course Dover sole came very lightly breaded. It was delicious! It came with a tartar sauce that was reminiscent to the artichoke remoulade. Too much Dijon grain mustard. Side was coleslaw which was bathed in a sauce. Not to our taste. Ahi Tuna Burger came on a bottom bun with tomato, iceberg lettuce, red onion & thousand island dressing. The ahi is chopped and comes on a perfect round patty. There is no top to this burger which I found strange. It comes with fries or slaw. I would order the fries since the coleslaw is too wet for my liking. Not on the menu but since I had read about it ordered the Tres Leches cake. Divine and big enough to share with 2-4 at your table. It comes with fruit, whipped creams and Carmel drizzle. Show stopper!! Service was nice. Our server was professional but not exceptional. She knew the menu to what was on it but didn't really know the food. When I asked about the oysters she repeated what was in the menu. As I understand oysters, have a region there from and the name given to them to distinguish from different oysters. But perhaps I'm wrong.? When asked about the tuna burger she repeated the condiments but not how it is plated. My biggest complaint would be she put our entire order in at one time. All the appetizers came out at once and our entrees came before we finished the appetizers. It was a cluster of dishes. It gave a "turn and burn" feel to our lunch. The best service and touch is the genuine welcome the Hostess gave us. I especially appreciated when we sat down her asking if we would like something to drink. We ordered water which came in a small chilled glass. LOVE this touch. Ambiance is elegant, fun and BUSY! The open kitchen is a great feature. Overall a nice lunch spot at Fashion Island.

Yelp
Didn't know gulstream is part of hillstone group and we love hillstone so we were excited to try this place out! We got their biscuits, which were really good, their grouper sandwich, beef ribs and seared ahi tuna salad. Everything was really tasty cooked very well! The beef ribs were really tender and had a good amount of meat on them! Service was great and took care of us really well. Would definitely love to go back and try other things on the menu!

Yelp
We had lunch at GulfStream today and really enjoyed our meal. I loved the fish sandwich and the heavenly biscuits. My husband liked his kale & chicken salad but felt like it was too dressed (even though he asked for light dressing).

Yelp
Brought my 2 daughters and 2 grand daughters( 8 and 10) who were well mannered. Ordered the salmon dinner for me it was served basically raw and uneatable. They sent it back to the table burnt and super dry. Did not eat it for it was so bad, but paid for it with the intention of getting a refund. Wrote a letter to the Manager Never heard back from the restaurant either. No refund!! A Customer who Use to drive often from Coto De Caza for a great dinner. Not anymore.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I popped in here after work for the first time and sat at the bar. The food and service were top notch! I ordered the crab cakes and kale salad. Both were delicious!! No fillers with the crab cakes! Delicious!! I'm definitely visiting again!!!

Yelp
I don't like their customer service as you're still working on your food and without asking me for anything else like dessert their server brought me a check !!! I would call them pretty much unprofessional and rude; however, I had a plan to go there with my friend for our birthday party since she likes their Tres leches cake but I canceled it and we will go to another restaurant with better customer service and better rating on Yelp.
google avatar

Devlyn B.

Yelp
I've been here a couple of times and each time was good. I must say the Trout is absolutely amazing! The Home Smoked Salmon was also delicious. Each time I've come the staff is great and knowledgeable, they have been spot on with recommendations. The interior is spacious with a sit in bar area as well as a cozy ding area with an open view to the chef's preparation. Great place for happy hour or full service dining.

Jade T.

Yelp
Worst service, these girls in the front are always in a bad mood and have bad attitude and temper I like the spot, and the food wasn't as good as it used to be . Major quality drop
google avatar

Yelp
Great "locals" spot! Stopped by Friday night for date night dinner with my husband, we didn't have any reservations, but the wait wasn't bad and the staff was very accommodating. Sat at the bar area. We tried the biscuits, the order comes with two biscuits, butter and honey. They're amazing. We also have the short ribs with coleslaw. Also amazing.. My husband had trout and I was also really good. They have a full bar. There's TVs playing sports. By the way,I did not know that in the front of the open kitchen area, they have first come first serve seating, bummer next time.. now I know. The sitting at the bar area is so reserved. You can't just go in and sit down. They have a beautiful patio area to dine as well.
google avatar

Jennifer K.

Yelp
I came here for dinner and absolutely loved everything. I especially think that the biscuits in the vegetable salad is great. I also got the sold over which was very fresh and buttery. The two desserts were also great and it's a perfect size to share for the table. The service is fantastic, and the ambience is nice as well.

Yelp
Every time we drive through Newport Beach we stop at Gulfstream as it has never disappointed. This visit was no different. First, before heading into the restaurant, you can arrive early and enjoy a cocktail in their outdoor area sitting in Adirondack chairs around fire pits or at their energetic piano bar. We started at the bar with two dirty martinis, ice cold. Spot on. For dinner, our server Devyn was professional, courteous and proficient. We always order the grilled artichoke if in season. It was seasoned perfectly. The sauce is delicious. For dinner I ordered the beef ribs with mustard sauce. Fall off the bones delicious! So good! They come with a delicious Cole slaw. The slaw is a mayo base which is my preference. My husband had the salmon which he said was absolutely perfect. It came with broccoli. We ordered fries as another side which comes with a spicy mayo and catchup. The fries were thin and crispy. Gulfstream is a Hillstone restaurant if you are familiar with the restaurant group. I've eaten at a few of their restaurants and have never been disappointed. They are always solid in my experience. Gulfstream is one of my favorites. Give it a try if you are in or around Newport Beach, CA.

Yelp
Went here for date night tonight and had phenomenal service (shout out to our server Riley, really great experience!) The food here is always good, the wine even better but I think the service sets Gulfstream apart from the rest. Staff is always friendly, attentive, great recommendations, and helpful. We enjoyed a full meal and have leftovers for tomorrow cause the portions are so generous. Gulfstream is our staple OC restaurant and we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
We came to Gulfstream for some appetizers and drinks before going to our main restaurant for dinner. We love the outdoor open seating patio in the back of their restaurant. The ambiance back here is beautiful! The added lights, lit fires, and open seating makes the environment so fun. The server was very friendly and attended to our large group's (12 people) order! Best app: biscuits They make their margs strong so be ready for that ;)!

Yelp
My first time at Gulfstream. The waitress and staff were very attentive. The atmosphere was great not too loud so you could carry on a conversation. I had the ahi tuna sandwich and I tried a crab cake. Both were great. If you go be mindful of what you wear. I had on a professional football jersey because it was Sunday and they almost did not let me in. I am glad they did. When I return I will know what not to wear.

Sue C.

Yelp
Truly disappointed that they took off the New Orleans barbecue shrimp from the menu. It was the best seller, not sure why they'd make a mistake like this! Please bring it back to the menu, the shrimp curry dish doesn't hit the same!

Yelp
First time here and I enjoyed the PCH ambiance and convenient location. Great service from our server Eden. I enjoyed a margarita with the red trout. Delicious, then a lemon drop martini with some tres leches for dessert. Great experience and I'd recommend for a cute get together.

Yelp
Eclectic menu. Service was great. Some menu items were more flavorful than others. Price was a little higher for quality that was served.

Yelp
Good: artichokes ( in season) Chop salad. Bad: breaded fillet of sole for 58 bucks. Ridiculous.

Yelp
another hlillstone restaurant with more of a focus on seafood. the smoked trout dip to start was great and came out super quick. the louisiana shrimp and the beef ribs were both delicious mains. we also got the fudge sundae for dessert and it was a great dessert to end the meal. consistently great food and service!

Yelp
Service -- as always -- absolutely outstanding. The staff is attentive without being intrusive, and everything flows smoothly from start to finish. But the desserts... that's a whole different story. They're not just good -- they're on another level. It's hard to explain. It's like they tapped into some secret formula for happiness and turned it into a dessert menu. Highly recommend, especially if you're ending the night on a sweet note. Vika.

Yelp
All the servers were sweethearts. Food was good especially their CrabCakes, Ribs and CheeseBurger. I was not happy when I did last minute change up from the beach and then decided to meet someone here, while wearing my sleeveless shirt, which wasn't allowed here. Luckily, I had a light jacket in car to wear.

Yelp
I've been there a couple of times recently. Whenever they serve vegetables like broccoli with the salmon they give you a couple of pieces of small broccoli so overcooked that it is like mush if you barely press it with your fork and it's covered in salt. Allow people to salt it as they prefer. Don't cook it to mush. Give a generous amount for that price. It was inedible.

Yelp
Outstanding ambiance, service and delicious meals. The plates look amazing! Properly decorated and appealing. Well worth the modestly high prices. Drinks from the bar were numerous and well crafted. Well worth a try!

Yelp
I've been to gulfstream many times and it's amazing however last night was off. My rotisserie chicken was like rubber and not flavorful per usual . My iced tea had a sulfur taste almost like the water was bad or the pot wasn't cleaned properly . Lost my entire appetite .So bummed .

Yelp
We had dinner with another couple last night. The service was top notch. Ample parking. Great atmosphere. On a Sunday night, they were out of items like the trout, artichokes. Only on certain days they offer Sole and I believe another item wasn't available on Sunday. The menu is very very boring. Our friends enjoyed the short ribs and crab cakes. My husband's expensive little steak was way overcooked. He didn't want to send it back because we were enjoying our time with our friends. I would not go back there again. Wasn't worth the money.

Yelp
I've been coming here for almost a decade. Three of us came here for a birthday dinner. Had 4 courses and cocktails/wine. Food and service were decent- until they started grabbing our dessert and cocktail before we were finished-- and without asking if we were done. My sister was so surprised when the server just swooped in and stole her drink, she was speechless. Unfortunately I didn't realize they were pushing us out and had already tipped 20%. Then a lady came over and said they needed our table and that we could go outside to the patio. Unacceptable. Patio is dirt so watch out if you're wearing sandals.

Yelp
We went for dinner at gulfstream after about 18 months. It was a Saturday night and the wait for 4 people was about 45 mins. We sat outside at one of the high tops. I really like the outdoor patio and the view of PCH. The heaters were on but not the fire pits which was a pitty. We were served by Cristiana who provided amazing service. Service over all was 5/5 and of course the location is also 5/5. We were really disappointed with the food and the value. We started with their famous biscuits. 2 for $6. Really not sure what the are thinking there. I had the ribeye for $60 and subbed the fries with coleslaw that only tasted like mayo. I had asked the steak to be cooked medium rare but it was cooked medium and served on a cold plate :(. The steak was underseasoned so I had to generously add salt to it and the cut had a ton of extra fat on it. I think it was a 10-12oz pierce but easily 2 oz was extra fat. My son had their cheeseburger which was $26. He said it was nothing specially. He only liked the picked onion in it. $26 burger was served with a side of cold fries. My wife got the kale and chicken salad. She liked the taste but not the portion for $28. My other son ordered the Louisiana shrimp that came with white rice and bread. It tasted really good as the sauce was really buttery, however another disappointment as the rice was really undercooked and al dente. My wife ordered a dirty martini for $20. It came out with one single olive. She asked for extra olives and another server brought her an additional single olive. Lol. All in all spent around $230 including tip for 4 people, and other than the service nothing stood out. First time in a long time that we also didn't have any doggy bag. Much better places to spend your $ on better food. Won't be going again unless there are some changes.

Yelp
Great service, bevs / bites and vibe at Gulfstream - Newport Beach. This is an incredible venue and dinning experience. The restaurant layout is fun plus welcoming amidst a comfortable ambiance and decor. Stellar bar seating with a wonderful array of unique various wines, top notch spirit, beer and truly something for everyone. Eric the GM is kind, passionate and extremely knowledgeable. It's an overall pro staff with pleasant service and liveliness. The food menu has all the comforts you'd want and more, the entire kitchen team drives the culinary experience at an elevated level. I sat at the table top and Talia provided excellent care. Enjoyed the Dover Sole that is on special Thursday-the weekend and it was delicious. Please come support this one of a kind spot. Cheers!

Yelp
Whenever I drive down to Newport Beach where my adorable grandsons reside, Gulfstream is the place I go to. Their food quality is as good as that at The Strand House in Manhattan Beach: Filet Mignon, beef ribs, oysters, salads, artichokes, and you name it. Ambience is good as well. You need to reserve a table about a week in advance, if you do not want to wait for about two hours.

Yelp
I order this roasted vegetable every time, and I like it very much. This is the only one that cooks well.

Yelp
Gulfstream has that Newport Beach vibe. Upscale...and they want to make sure you can feel it. The food menu is solid and the presentation top shelf...yet somewhat pricey. I found the service to be prompt with a catering to the business crowd a priority. The ambiance works for all occasions...the facility is laid out well and attention to detail noticeable There are a dozen other high end restaurants within a couple miles. Gulfstream ranks in the top 25%. Enjoy!

Yelp
As a passionate foodie, I'm head-over-heels for this spot! The patio's dining experience is unbeatable, and my family's obsessed with this place. But my last visit, mosquitoes were in full force on the patio and the meticulous landscaping has been being long ignored and needs some attention, spider webs, debris etc. --manager, please light those citronella candles! Lauren who waited on us and the stellar staff are absolute rockstars, always going above and beyond with killer service. Food is phenomenal, and of course we'll keep coming back!

Yelp
Food as always is good, simple, delish. This is the second time here and had the gulf coast fish sandwich which came out flakey and crispy and delish! Rounded it off with tres leches desert. Had to as it is phenomenal! Service is great here! TIff C. was fab and a good sense of humor to boot! And the place itself? Cozy, classy and well organized as one fine restos should. Verdict is always yes!
